in life, people believed that everyone needed a reason for what they did, how they acted, how they perceived themselves and the world and why they chose to believe in what they did. however, there wasn't one definite moment that oleanderpaw could pinpoint that would explain why it was utterly and completely angry at the world, not one moment they could tell you that would solidify it's reasoning. they couldn't give you a reason why they hated their father, his siblings, itself, the clan - nothing, there was simply nothing that ollie could give you because they just didn't know. they had always thought themselves to just be a negative person but did they have a reason for being negative? no, not one they could give, at least. they'd lived a good life, been raised and fed by the nicest queens, their father had been around doing whatever the hell he pleased before he'd eventually kicked the bucket, they had been loved and cared for, they got enough hugs as a child (although, it must note that those hugs had never really been from those whom they would have really meant something from) they were healthy and they just didn't understand why everything around them made it so angry all the time. it wasn't... natural and it didn't have a reason for what it did but it wasn't like they really cared enough to try and figure out why it thought like it did - didn't care much for thinking about itself, that only brought up thoughts it would rather keep buried beneath the ever present layer of hate and anger.

blinking softly they lifted their head from their paws to look around the cramped apprentice's den, it wasn't sure if any of the other apprentices were even awake yet - likely a few had gone out on the dawn patrol but oleander didn't really care enough to figure out exactly which apprentices those had been. they let out a low huff before moving to lift themselves onto their paws, they didn't know why the were up so early but it didn't really want to know and it was too late to try and go back to sleep because it would only get yelled at later if they slept too long. they pushed through the entrance of the brumble den, blinking rapidly as the morning sun nearly blinded them and forced them to narrow their eyes considerably until their crossed eyes could properly make out what exactly he was seeing. ah, yes... the dilemma of his terribly and irreversibly crossed eyes; a part of them most would consider to be some kind of unique difference but one that ollie could only see as a goddamn nuisance - maybe it didn't affect their vision constantly but it was getting freaking tired of being unable to sense where the hell the ground dipped off into water and taking an unwanted dip. they may be able to see perfectly but there were times when their depth perception completely screwed them over and they looked like an idiot, god they hated their eyes more than anything they would ever be able to explain.

slowly everything came into focus and as they made out the twisting of the brush they were able to, carefully, make it through the entrance. well, almost they supposed as they hadn't seen the piece of shit branch that had decided to settle just outside the den and had it tumbling forward with flailing limbs and curses lined upon it's tongue. they gave an irritated huff as they quickly caught themselves, just in time to keep from landing face first into the muddy earth below them. shaking it's paws slightly as they continued to ache with the feeling of exhaustion; ollie was a grumpy individual and even more so when it came to mornings as the ache of their still sleeping limbs, the annoying chirp of the birds, and the idiocy that seemed to run through the sleep riddled mind always drove him into a sort of madness... a madness with a short fuse and a piss poor attitude, that is. they knew some knew to steer clear of the apprentice in the morning, least they bare witness to the aggravated words and actions that the young one was capable of as it was way too early to be starting drama and most respected the fact they left ollie the fuck alone. to most it was a given, they'd learned their lesson once before and they were likely too tired of his angry and pessimistic nature to even try to talk to it anymore - having long given up on trying to interact with the apprentice, but it was okay, after all this time ollie sort of understood why they did what they did. if it could, it wouldn't hang around itself as well.

letting out a loud yawn, oleanderpaw clamped his jaw shut as he moved towards the fresh-kill pile, hoping to get breakfast before it had to deal with anyone who was stupid enough to try and be friendly to someone who didn't want to be social. they shifted their crossed eyes to look over the camp, not many were up yet which was understandable and, honestly, it was a relief for the young feline - less people to confront, less people to annoy them, less people to tell it what it could and could not do and less people trying to pretend they actually gave two shits about it. oh look at them, the sun had barely risen and they were pulling the "everyone's fake, they all hate me, they're just pretending to care because that's what they have to do" card - this must be a new record for him, it supposed some kind of congratulations was in order. they let out a little huffed laugh before snatching a small sparrow from the pile and making their way to a rather closed off area of camp to enjoy their bird in peace; by now, it was sure most of the warriors would be waking up along with some of the apprentices and this peaceful morning [minus those birds who won't shut the hell up] would be ruined by the loud chatter of fake happiness that they were sure ran throughout shadowclan like a plague.

they dropped to the ground with a loud thump before allowing themselves to dig into the meat that the bird provided; it was cold and a little disgusting which must have meant it was older and had been sitting out a little longer than the others... wasn't that just fantastic, and if ollie wasn't in a bad mood before the hardened flavor of the bird sure brought it down and deeper into the ground. it's face twisted up in a sour snarl as they pushed the bird away and pressing their head down into their paws as they watched the life around shadowclan's camp slowly begin bustling with the waking of the other members. it hurt a little to see everyone greet and talk to each other like they were all friends, needless to say ollie may be a little bit of a hypocrite for both hating and adoring the idea of being able to so easily talk to others as if they weren't afraid, annoyed, or had generally given up on you; hell, even oleanderpaw's last mentor had quit and left the apprentice out on the curb to figure out how to deal with things on his own. it was probably well deserved but the warrior had been a childish brat who had gotten way too sensitive way too quickly - it wasn't it's fault that they hadn't been able to put up with a couple of insults, maybe they hadn't been prepared to be a warrior in the first place if a couple of words from an angry apprentice had sent them crying into the warriors den like a kitten. their eyes narrowed at the groups before turning away as if in disgust as they slowly pushed itself into a sitting position. "idiots." it mumbled under it's breath, uncaring how close it sat to a few groups; they could yell and moan all they wanted... didn't mean ollie wouldn't continue to call them bloody idiots.[center]_________________

  • Echodust yawned and stretched, carefully waking up her stiff muscles before wandering out of the warriors den. Feeling more awake, the russet she-cat headed across camp. I should probably go hunti- Oh. Now that was angry cat. Echodust wasn't sure whether to talk to them or avoid them. She wasn't exactly a morning person herself. Here goes nothing. "Hey are you okay?"

  • Ratkit lay nearby, gnawing on a bone he had picked clean, gripping it with all four paws. He was aware of Oleanderpaw, who was fuming not more than a foxlength away, but had so far chosen not to acknowledge his presence. There weren't many cats the kitten would go out of his way to avoid, but one of them certainly was Ollie. Not for fear that the angry apprentice might harm him, and even if he did Ratkit was not above using his younger age to his advantage, but because he already had to deal with enough strife and bad attitude from his mother.

And speaking of his mother, she'd been yapping at him all morning, which had put Ratkit in a slightly antagonistic mood, and since he couldn't take it out on her, he'd been close to snapping at everyone all day. A little hypocritical of him, considering the reason for his dislike of the tom, but when he saw the opportunity to take a jab at Oleanderpaw he immediately took it.

"Don't bother, Echodust. There's a reason no one wants to be around him."

  • Echodust gave Ratkit a stern glare before turning back to Oleanderpaw and repeated her question. She figured that someone who no one wanted to be around needed a friend or at least an acquaintance.

    [ DARK ENOUGH ]

The pessimistic child would sigh as she listened to everyone hustle and bustle around the nursery, giving and irritated huff as one of the younger kits stepped on her tail. Growling and giving a small snap of her jaws to scare the kit, she would close her eyes once more. No sooner had she done that, then the angry mother of the terrified child approached her, hissing and yelling angrily. Puddlekit payed no attention to her words, sighing and standing up. She wasn't in the mood to deal with such pointless arguing, at least not today anyways.

Padding out of the den, she would drearily glance around, distastefully noticing how bubbly everyone was today. Well, almost every one. An unfamiliar face was scowling, and the cats entire being seemed to radiate with anger. So naturally, puddles padded over to investigate, giving an irritated flick of her ear as she saw the piece of prey he so distastefully threw aside. what a waste. Normally, she would have complained, but seeing as she had spotted ratkit nearby looking nearly as angry, her attention instead focused momentarily on her den mate and she sat down near the seemingly irritable tom-kit, olive green eyes staring blankly at oleander. "I'm puddlekit. You shouldn't waste your food." her voice came out monotone and cold, but she didn't care much. She never did.

ollie was not a morning person, a day person, a night person he just... he never seemed to ever truly be in a good mood and it was something he could never really understand about himself. it was confusing and it took to much effort to try and decipher and ollie had long ago given up any attempts of understanding itself. they just didn't care anymore, they were an asshole and they had accepted it and they really were not interested in changing that or being social. he was content to be alone, had accepted the fact that that was exactly how she was going to spend the rest of her life and she was okay with that; she didn't need friends, she didn't need family, it had itself and that was enough, it would have to be enough. it was one of the reasons they were so angry when anyone tried to interact with them, they had built up their walls and they didn't need anyone attempting to climb over them because ollie knew they wouldn't be able to handle someone... just being there as utterly preposterous as that sounded, hell, ollie wasn't even sure it made much sense.

their crossed eyes shifted away from the disgusting bird to look up into the eyes of what appeared to be a warrior, ollie really didn't know - they didn't pay a whole lot of attention about who was who around here. it's lip curled up into a sneer as the feline stared at him as if waiting for some kind of answer; they likely were not going to get the one that they were looking for and the fact that his peaceful morning had been ruined made their mood seem to sour even more. although, before it could open it's mouth to snap at the idiotic and rather annoying warrior it was interrupted by the sound of some kid. now, let it be entirely known that ollie has always despised children - they held no use other than to take up resources and to be an ever constant pest to nearly everyone around them. he hated children and he hated the idiots who could so easily bring the mutts into the world; maybe it was from past experiences through it's own childhood but it had always had an ever present urge to keep as far away from them as physically possible.

this one, at least, was somewhat intelligent.

he didn't know who the kid was and she didn't exactly care much but at least he had the sense to tell the warrior to leave her alone. ollie had never known it's mother and it didn't mind much because their father and easily cleared up the foolish idea that she would ever care about it. oleander's mother hadn't wanted it and it had to accept that fact and, to an extent, it really did. they didn't need her anyway and they didn't need their father growing up and they didn't need people out here pretending like they gave two shits about the apprentice. it would be better if the warrior, whatever her name might be, simply left him to boil in peace. he nodded slightly before turning it's crossed eyes back to the female, the sneer still plastered across it's face. "the brat's right, so stop pretending like you care to make yourself feel good as a person and leave me alone... m'kay? thanks." with that they let out a loud yawn before moving to get to their paws, the place they currently were was to crowded and they had no desire to stay here when there was likely a better place out there to avoid idiots like this.

an irritated, overly exaggerated, sigh slipped past their lips when yet another person showed up to annoy them - another kitten, well... wasn't this day just starting off hellish? how fantastic. they let out a loud snarl before snapping their jaws down towards the kit, a half-like attempt to scare the thing as it let it's eyes drift back to the cold and disgusting piece of old prey. "do i look like i care who you are?" it shot back, it's cross eyes narrowing toward the kitten; the urge to whack them over the head bubbled under their skin and their paw twitched slightly. it had been how his father had shut him up and ollie knew it was an effective way of getting someone to screw off when all you wanted to do was be alone - hmph, the kid would get it easy if it decided to whack it... his father had always used claws but ollie knew that was crossing a line and no matter how hard he wanted to be left alone he wasn't fond of having to deal with all the idiots who would get pissed off. idiots who hadn't lifted a paw when ollie himself had been whacked but he supposed favoritism ran rampant through shadowclan but he had long ago stopped caring, well, that's what she liked to tell herself at least. they flicked their tail before moving over and grabbing the old prey and flinging it over to hit the kit; "how about you eat it for me, better not to waste it, right? it snapped out before shoving past the warrior and moving across camp.

    [ DARK ENOUGH ]

Seeming entirely unaffected by the snarl the small tortoiseshell kitten would simply shrug, a blank look on her face. "No thanks. I'm not hungry." Yawning from boredom, she'd watch him walk away, before looking around disinterestedly. There was hardly ever anything worthwhile to do around here.

  • "Mmkaaaay? Thanks." Ratkit echoed in a highly effected voice, rolling his eyes as Ollie stalked away. He turned to Echodust. "See, I told you so. That's one cat no one will want to help in battle. I hope a fox gets him next time he goes out. No one would care," he added loudly. Oleanderpaw could complain all he wanted about how no one was genuinely nice to him, but it was the apprentice's own fault. "Right, Puddlekit?"

    [ DARK ENOUGH ]

Glancing at Ratkit, her voice would become cheerful and a brief smile would flash over her features as she laughed and gave her answer. "Right. But then again, no one would miss you either." And with that, she to would pad away, although she did soin a good mood, and slipped back into the nursery and out of sight.
