  • Ooc- @eritasum Nah, you're not horrible, people just seem to miss my posts surprisingly frequently lol

    Charles
Charles smiled faintly, though the smiles intent was anyone's guess. "Now I have an idea on what you're thinking, first off, my name is Charles Colot, and let me put you at ease. I'm not quite as brutal as Dr. Holloway, most of the time, you'll find me a fair measure more friendly, but I do expect what I tell you to do to be done. Understand? Good. Now the first thing I want to do to you is improve your vision, as I understand it is... lacking. But the preparation process is going to take a fair while. Did you know while most spiders eyesight is quite bad, the Salticidae's, or as you might know them, the jumping spider, well their eyesight is actually exceptional? They are active hunters, so for them it has to be." Charles paused, realizing he might be overwhelming the poor boy "well I'm going to place a call, until I return feel free to relax for awhile, and I shouldn't need to say it, but stay out of trouble, remember what I said, I'm not as brutal as our head doctor most of the time, though I can be arguably more so if angered," Charles said with a disturbing amount of enthusiasm. With that he stood and walked off to place his call.

  • ooc: Sorry I'm late. Busy busy weekend. ;-;

"I'm not sweet? Um, hello, I could give your brusque mouth a tooth-ache I'm so damn sweet," Riley cracked her knuckles threateningly (jokingly), and huffed as she went to go shadow Loki. His phone buzzed several times, taunting the girl's interest.
Their walk elsewhere seemed surprisingly brief. It didn't really matter to Riley though because she felt perfectly content, providing she had somebody with her. She accidentally hadn't thrown out the fork, so she now played with it between her teeth, gnawing at the plastic absentmindedly. Loki led Riley through an unremarkable doorway, and gestured for her to sit down; she did. When he yawned, Riley caught his yawn, then flashed him a sarcastically dirty look for it when the fork fell from her mouth into her lap. "What're we doin'?"

Nathaniel's focus redirected itself solely on Lucas now, because something was bugging him; his sensors couldn't pick up any noise, at all, within a certain distance of the other experiment. It was as if sound simply didn't exist, though Nathaniel knew there must be some other explanation considering the abruptly distinct distortion in readings. Nathaniel contemplated what could cause this phenomenon; was Lucas directly interfering with his scanners? So mechanical modifications, perhaps? Or maybe he was in the mutant ability category, and manipulated sound. Musing possibilities, Nathaniel met Lucas's gaze unwaveringly now. He wasn't going to hide his curiosity, as Lucas already recognized that they were both keeping an eye on each other. Instead, Nathaniel openly shuffled over, approaching what he processed as a weird sound bubble. To onlookers, it just seemed like Nathaniel had chosen a table to sit at. In reality, he was figuring out what Lucas would do with the soundless space if he got close/entered it.

  • Lucinda listened to the story with her head tilted in interest. He was trying to install fear in her but it wouldn't work. Instead, she just smiled and batted her eyes. "Well I guess two out of five isn't bad. I mean we are the most successful forms of immortality it seems. Someone as brilliant as you is sure to find the solution eventually." Her eyes had gotten a hard to look them before softening, "My apologies if I was being too forward. I just find myself left with nothing but curiosity as of late. Please do ignore my curiosity if I'm being too forward."

Stella shook her head, "No that'd be the wrong assumption to make", she said as she watched the spider move about in its jar. "I just tend to follow things that make me curious. You happen to be one of the things that make me curious. I ask because my curiosity pushes me to ask and because I like being of use here. That is all that I had in mind but if you do not wish to speak of it then it will be that way." She shrugged and headed back over to the body who lay on the table.

"So you said his eyes were changed after the infection? Do you think it is a result of his body's natural make-up or a side effect to be expected?" She pondered on the question herself before giving up. She took a seat back in the chair and lay her head down on her arms. She wasn't one for sentiment but she was thankful that the doctor had let her work here so long ago. Her best memories to date where at this place and doing the work she loved. Her fingers drummed thoughtlessly on the back of the chair as she waited to see what the doctor would do next.

  • Lucas
Lucas seemed to panic for a few moments as Nathaniel approached, worried he might have angered them, but then he realized that he didn't seem aggressive at all, at least at the moment. For a few seconds when Nathaniel sat down, there was a sudden cut off from any and all sound, one second, there was the general noise of a cafeteria, the next, it was like sound didn't exist. That was until Lucas spoke up, and even then, his voice was the only sound there was, besides any sound Nathaniel was making. "Hello..." Lucas wasn't quite sure what to say to the imposing person in front of him now, sure he had been watching him, but that was more out of caution than curiosity, though he did find himself curious of this person once again, under the fear anyways. "Do.... do you have bushiness with me?"

  • Nathaniel listened carefully, silent as he dialed his sensors to strain around Lucas's power. He was searching for a loophole, but unsurprisingly found none. Red lights lining the jaw of his helmet flashed, and he froze again, almost like he was listening to someone you couldn't see. However, Lucas's voice interrupted this strange exchange.
Nathaniel glanced at him again, nodding horizontally "no." He found it amusing that yet another person had mistaken him for an introvert because he hated talking; Lucas obviously never expected to be approached, seeing his reaction. Nathan found it even more amusing that Lucas used his power to shut people up.
Now, Nathaniel was detecting noise within the bubble, and a disturbing absence of it outside. The complete opposite from before. He felt uncomfortable having his senses restricted to this degree, yet simultaneously intrigued. If Lucas could silence sound, he could probably strengthen it as well, which left Nathan wondering at what distance Lucas lost control. He gestured at the invisible wall obstructing noise, outlining it accurately with his clawed hand to show Lucas that he did indeed see it and was just curious.

  • Lucas
Lucas' eyes narrowed, "they changed you a lot huh? To be able to tell where my sound barrier ends and begins that quickly." Lucas seemed to relax somewhat, feeling as if Nathaniel wasn't going to attack him "you're curious about my powers? Well, if you couldn't tell, I can control sound. And no, this isn't even nearly the limits of my powers, I can expand this bubble to any size I want, whenever I want, I could make a bubble that amplifies sound one thousand fold, basically, I can do anything involving sound that I want to. Which makes a lot of people lucky I'm not more violent minded than I am." Lucas said this without much pause, he didn't really care about sharing details about his power, not like it mattered who knew in this place. "What about you?," Lucas asked, examining Nathaniel's arms, and his helmet, "there is something I'm not seeing, you're senses are incredibly sharp, and you're physically modified. What else is there?"

  • An excellent listener, Nathaniel absorbed every word with attentive calculation. He genuinely appreciated that Lucas seemed to be talking for both of them.
Perhaps impressed or thoughtful, Nathan again glanced around at the surrounding sound wall when Lucas mentioned harming people via noise alone. He knew that loud enough frequencies could inflict disasterous pain/bodily harm, but took solace in knowing he could turn his hearing off for the brunt of that if aware it was coming.
When questioned about further modification, Nathaniel decided the other deserved at least one simple demonstration (considering how much had already been explained about Lucas.)

His helmet glowed neon green, a black-tinted layer deadening the harsh color. Small ports, bridging wires behind Nathan's head, flashed cautionary yellow and hummed quietly. Any food, eating utensils, plates, etc. on their table slowly lifted up into the air. Nathan moved it all around said suspended space, no physical interference required; he watched with bored concentration, before violently crushing several items with enough pressure to visibly reduce their sizes. He then gently lowered everything, showing Lucas the remains of a fork: compressed plastic dust and needle-sharp shards.

  • [center][fancypost=background: transparent; width: 500px; font-size: 14px; font-family: microsoft tai le; text-align: justify;]Needless to say, Mikos' head was spinning. The scientist, which Mikos would refer to as Dr. Colot, had left just as fast as he had arrived. He seemed to speak almost a mile a minute, and Mikos could barely keep up. He didn't want anyone else to touch his eyes again. He had hoped that his body would just get use to the extra eyes, but it seemed like he would need to be operated on again. He felt a knot in the pit of his stomach. He was not hungry anymore.

  • ISAAC
“Oh, should I be flattered?” Isaac remarked at her comment about finding him interesting but he couldn’t understand why she held any interest in him. It should be quite obvious from working so long underneath him that there’s never anything you’ll get in return from him, especially when it comes to feelings. He was deemed incapable of that a long time ago, nothing really makes him feel an ounce of ecstasy than experimenting on beloved experiments. “That’s something I cannot provide an answer for as I don’t know the exact details myself. But that’s why there’s such thing as experimentation. I’ll have an answer in due time.” He replied in an ominous tone, he will be testing out Lilith’s parasitic children on a victim.

    GERALD
“I hate to burst your bubble but the youngest brother was perfect there was just a missing piece like all the others and you. Anyways, this is taking too long, come with me.” Gerald stated as he stood up from his seat and began to make his way out of the cafeteria to the lab. He made sure to keep his eyes from looking at the disgusting sight of the man named Milo. He couldn’t have his blood boiling over before getting ready to experiment. He wondered if perhaps maybe he experimented on them at different times maybe their weird connection that flawed their success wouldn’t have occurred. He turned back to look if the girls were following him.

    LOKI
“Riight, I would prefer not to traumatize my mouth with a bitter taste.” Loki retorted in a playful manner. He looked at the clipboard that provided him with the material he needed for asking the necessary questions. “Well, it’s really simple actually. I’m going to ask you a few questions and you’ll answer them easily. Then will do a physical examination.” Loki stated in a sudden informal manner, though he hated talking this way, it just wasn’t his style. If he had glasses, this would be the moment he would push them up and look real smart, right? “Let’s start than. Are you allergic to anything or have any knowledge of your allergies?” He asked though he knew that food allergies would be ignored, it’s mostly what her body is allergic to that’s needed. If she’s allergic to the chemical on rubber gloves and it leads to her death that’s something they would like to avoid.

    PESTILENCE
Elliot drifted off as the two voices faded from his consciousness. He wasn’t unconscious but he wasn’t hearing anything the scientists were discussing. He could make out the muffled sounds of their voices but he didn’t care too much to focus on it. He was tired, extremely exhausted from the pain of having Lilith crawl out of the cavern in his chest. His eyes stayed wide open however, though he didn’t appear to be looking anywhere in particular or blinking. He wasn’t thinking of anything either, he was filled with nothing. Lilith, however, didn’t like the female human that had entered into the abode that was usually filled with nothing but Isaac and her. She didn’t like the way the woman laid her filthy eyes upon herself nor the way she talked. She couldn’t fathom why she had her eyes on the host that she used. Lilith never particularly had a dislike of females but most of the females here often rubbed her the wrong way. She kept her eyes on the woman as she began to lay her eggs.

  • Charles
Charles hummed happily as he made his way to what was essentially his room in the facility, it also doubled as a makeshift office for the man, and be could often be found there. He dialed in a number on his phone and waited. "Yes hello! This is Charles Colot, I'd like to make a request for live specimens. Jumping spiders. No, I am quite serious. Yes I know how difficult they can be to obtain. Yes I can pay for them. I'll keep in touch." Charles clicked the phone off, it would be a fair few weeks yet before he would be getting those spiders, but he would get them. For science of course.

    Lucas
Lucas watched in interest, then flinched not expected the sudden violent crushing of things "that was uh," Lucas picked up the fork. "Pretty disturbing actually, though it's also kinda cool...." Lucas set down the destroyed utensil, not really sure what to say after that display.

  • ic: This is sloppy cuz I wrote it in school, but it covers my new characters too so yaaay. :P

Riley rocked in her chair like a distracted child at the doctor's office. She contemplated lying to Loki, as she often did when she answered this question; claiming severe pollen allergies played out well because people would then purposefully keep flowers far away, and render her anthophobia almost inapplicable. (Riley hated admitting fears; should she see flowers, she used this allergy lie as an excuse for stupid reactions.) "Um, y.....nnno," The girl responded reluctantly, deciding last second that it wasn't in her best interest to lie when being tested here.

Noah had his nose buried in two books at once, both publications about as thick as, if not thicker than, encyclopedia volumes. Gibberish annotations of copious colors were scrawled over each page, bookmarks and post-its highlighting important paragraphs for later analysis. He made no noise, ignoring everybody who passed his tiny, tidy office. Until, of course, he noticed how much time had gone by.
"Shit," Noah scrambled to stack documents together, three papers flying off his desk with his sudden movement. Hurrying out, he snatched keys from a hook beside the window-door. Noah weaved through the brief maze of plain, twisting hallways for where they kept experiments on basement level. Clutching his clipboard, and thankful he hadn't run into anybody, Noah quickly approached said cells. "Out. Now. We're late," He demanded flatly, unlocking Jamie's cage with a harsh click of metal keys.

Jamie was waiting patiently. He hummed when he recognized Noah, running late of all things. Few could comfortably guide Jamie without securing restraints/having poison antidote on their person, but Noah didn't usually bother.
The scientist turned heel and started for the cafeteria, mumbling curses under his shallow breath. Jamie followed close behind, slinking on all fours.
    -----
Nathaniel shrugged, apparently content with their one-sided conversation. He found it refreshing to know someone so seemingly collected, but not quite cold like the scientists. He also appreciated that he personally didn't possess a failed or trivial power and regarded that fact as bittersweet when finished showing off.
Nathan's scanners signaled more people approaching; he quickly recognized them by their unique heat signatures. The semi-cyborg lowered himself to the table and, almost wearily, watched Noah enter with Jamie. Nathaniel had never met Jay before, but he'd met Noah.

  • LOKI
Loki watched the girl as she rocked in her chair in a weird manner. He often perceived such actions as one of boredom but they had just sat down. Unless she had the attention span of a squirrel, he dismissed the conclusion of boredom. But then again, she could have the attention span of a squirrel. Even though the question was simple enough, she spent a lot of time contemplating it as though she was making a hard decision. Was there something to hide? Allergies weren’t really something to be embarrassed about even if they are weird, it’s more of a life or death thing. “No? Ah no allergies, alright than. Are you on any medications as of current?” He asked as he marked off the allergies that she knows of.

  • I see full paragraphs of text that will leave me reading for more than a few seconds each time I look on the thread... I am prepared. But first, I need a recap to get started on here. Anything interesting happening before I jump my character in?

  • @The Virtual One Yeah, what Alpha said, but I don't think I have a free scientist to come and let your character out so you can just start with him in the cafeteria with the others lol. I'm not sure how many people are inside the cafeteria, I believe Nathaniel and Lucas are conversing, Charles and Mikos, and Alpha has new experiments entering there as well with a scientist.
