This is a time where halfbreeds of demons and animals alike live with humans. Though there is discrimination, that doesn't bug a lot of them. Down near the West coast, nekos are way less common, and demons are abundant. My character is a neko going to the beach with his friends, and your character is a surfer boy whom is pretty flirty with everyone. But I bet you can't get this stubborn kitten to fall for your devlilish eyes.
