  • The paranormal is no longer out of the ordinary. In fact, it’s become a part of people’s everyday lives. But, nothing was as dramatic as the surplus of ghosts. And for some living in Silverwick, ghosts are now the very source of their jobs. Jobs involving them include: making defenses against them (stuff made from silver, iron, salt, and lavender), studying their recent infestation, and by far the most important, hunting them. Hunters, as they are called, are self-employed or agency-employed teenagers that aren’t afraid to find and subdue what goes bump in the night. Teenagers and younger children are the only people that have a strong Talent to sense these monsters.

Number One Law for Powerful Ghosts - Don’t touch them.
Why? - Ectoplasm from stronger ghosts will kill you.

    Appearance -

  • A teenager stood outside of a weather-worn, populated apartment building, his arms crossed as he leaned against the bricks. It was nearly an hour past midnight, and his friend had been inside for about fifteen minutes. He was there for moral support, or real support, though hopefully she didn't need it. Her voice hadn't crackled over the walkie-talkie he held in his hand even once. Jackie was curious if she was okay. She must've been; he hadn't heard a scream or anything. Anyway, the ghost that was reported was only a Cold Maiden. They were no real danger. Still, he was becoming anxious. With a sigh, he held the button and asked, "Hey, you doin' okay in there?"

  • His friend was busy searching after a ghost who seemed to really not want to be eliminated. Just as she was about to take care of the maiden, she tripped over her own two feet and her walkie talkie ran out, "curse him," she hissed and grabbed the device, pressing a button and speaking into it, "you have the worst timing!" She hissed, "I almost had her!" She got back to her feet and ran after the ghost with her silver dagger. She ran through the hall and jumped finally striking her blade at the ghost and slaying it. When she was done she grabbed the talkie and shouted in it, "done, happy now!"

  • Jackie flinched away from the device. With a scowl, he pressed the button down again and muttered, "Jeez, sorry for showing concern, slowpoke." Quickly, he switched off his own walkie-talkie. He didn't want to hear her most likely angrier reply. However, the male knew that one way or another, he'd eventually hear it. The teenager waited for Yuki to leave the building, standing beside the doorway.

  • Maki furiously glared at the device and marched out of the building, "if you're so concerned why didn't you go in there and take care of it yourself!" she huffed, just saying it because it felt good, a relieve of frustration. They were just that close friends. She walked over to him with a huff, "that ghost just didn't want to die."

  • The teenager rolled his eyes. "Y'know why I can't be a Hunter; I can't see 'em that well!" Despite their almost-yelling, he smirked at his friend. "That's your excuse? Wow. Anyway, somebody called about a Stalker on Meadowlark Lane. You think you're up for it? It could double your pay for the night."

  • Jackie grinned at the mention of cake, and then he heard her words as she darted past. His smile turned mischievous. "Is that a challenge?" he called to her, picking up his pace until he was sprinting. He knew he could easily outrun her. It was one of the only things he could do better than Yuki. His fluffy tail wagged behind him as he ran.

  • Maki huffed, "Not against you," she knew it too, it was still fun though, "race you," she ran off even though she knew she could lose. Jackie and her had been friends for as long as she could remember and they've hunted together just as long. While they jabbed each other with words, they were also really close. She headed for the stalker only to trip about a few seconds later.

  • Jackie had just passed Yuki when she tripped. It took a few seconds for him to safely slow down, and once he had, he twisted around to return to his friend's side. He smirked down at her, and offered Maki his hand. "You alright?" At least she hadn't tripped until they'd reached Meadowlark Lane. That was an improvement. The Stalker was still in hiding at the moment, which was fortunate.

  • The anthropomorphic wolf-boy nodded. "Yeah. They said it hung out near the old post office, I think. Might as well check around there first." Jackie readjusted the walkie-talkie in his back pocket. It had nearly fallen out while he was running. "Since it's a Stalker, we can just walk there and see if it starts following us."

  • "Oh, it is on." Jackie responded to the challenge with another smirk. Accompanied by the wagging of his tail, he headed off towards the abandoned post office. It was halfway down the wide, straight road. The building couldn't have been any taller than a story. His wolf-like ears were perked, listening for anything paranormal or non. He didn't have any strong Talents like a human would, but since he was still a teenager, his Talents were amateurish. And, like all Talents, would worsen with age. That was why no adult could sense ghosts, and why only people under twenty were Hunters.

  • Jackie decided to check the outside of the older building first. The teenager went around back, and found nothing more than a rusted dumpster with a ferocious-looking raccoon living on the inside of it. He didn't like the look in its eyes, and he wanted to get into a fight even less than he trusted the animal. Backing away, he headed back for the front. And that's when he noticed the spectral mist hovering at the central doorway, facing Yuki. Jack couldn't fully see the ghost, but for his friend, the image was well-detailed. "Found it." he mumbled in a low voice as to not disturb the Stalker.

  • "What're you cryin' about? It found you first." grumbled Jackie, slipping a vial of iron filings from his back pocket, "Think these'll work on it?" He held the thin glass container up for Yuki to see. The teenager's outline was slightly illuminated by the porch light on the opposite side of the street.
