  • It's funny how one moment can change everything.
    One moment you're having a laugh with a loved one...
    the next you're holding their hand and saying goodbye in a hospital room...
    One moment you've got everything going for you...
    the next, the ground is torn from beneath you like a surfboard in a violent wave
    How do we cope when everything is turned on its head?
    How do we survive such a drastic change?

    Enter Olivia Grace Lancaster, a 18 year old girl born to American parents on the Pacific Island of Samoa.
    After growing up around the ocean in Samoa, Grace's parents decided to move her and her two older brothers to Honolulu, Hawaii.
    Grace quickly picked up surfing as a past time and within a few years, she was competing against professionals and winning.
    As she grew older, she grew more beautiful and confident.
    By her 18th birthday, Grace had been invited to a national surfing championship, right there in Honolulu.
    Eagerly accepting the challenge, the young girl prepared to blow everyone away.
    She had dedicated her heart and sole to surfing and no one was going to take it from her.

    But life isn't always what we think it ought to be...

    On the day of the performance, it is obvious a storm is coming. Islanders are getting antsy and there are rumors that the competition should be postponed.
    But to the surfers, this is out of the question.
    Undaunted and unafraid of the unforgiving sea, the competition goes on.
    Despite the growing concerns from her parents, Grace goes out on the waves and proceeds to dominate the championship, as expected.
    Before she can return to shore, however, the weather makes a turn for the worst and the young girl is lost in the waves.
    A day later, once the waves have calmed a bit, a search party finds Grace washed up on the beach.
    She's alive, but...

    Will things be the same?
    Will her once loving and supporting boyfriend accept her now that she's different?
    Will Grace be able to love herself in the midst of the hugest challenge of her life?

    Will she ever surf again?

  • G'dayy
    Hope you don't mind if I sneak in here and also take the form you used : )
    I'll create two forms, one for the first guy and then the one that comes in later : )

  • awesome opossum!
    i love both of them and i can't wait to get into roleplay with you :)
    i will probably be a little bit inactive this weekend -
    my mom's visiting me at college and i'm gonna be away from the computer more than normal
    i don't really like posting on mobile because i like to write long responses, so
    i'll just get to it as i can

    can't wait to start this, though (possibly tomorrow?)
    thanks for joining ^_^

  • That's fine : )
    I've been on holiday for the past 5 days and will continue to be on for another 5 days so I've been somewhat inactive and slow on responses because all the spots we have been visiting have no reception.
    Depending on when you post tomorrow, there may be a delay in a response because and as I said I'll be driving down to Townsville which is a short 4 hours away, but I'll have little to no reception along the way + I'll be asleep most of the drive as I'm sick.
    : )

  • ooc;
    so sorry for being inactive!
    my mom came and visited me at college this weekend and things have just been crazy ^_^"
    i would reply tonight, but i was just able to get to a couple threads tonight
    i promise i'll get to it asap tomorrow
    sorry for the delay ~

  • ooc;
    under a tornado warning?
    perfect time to get to all the things i haven't been able to accomplish over midterms week! ^_^
    sorry for the delay

    olivia grace was sleeping hard when her alarm went off at 6 that morning. on any normal day, she may have groaned, rolled over, and stayed in bed for another ten minutes. today, however, that alarm on her phone went off and she sat up straight like she'd touched a live wire. today was the day. throwing her blankets away, the young girl lept out of bed and flew to her dresser. slipping into a pair of short white shorts to match her blue sleep top, she began her morning routine. first, she would work out for forty-five minutes, preparing herself for the day. after that, her mother and father would probably have breakfast done. some time during breakfast, kingsly would probably come over - gah! she loved him - and he could come down to the beach to help her clean her board and get ready for the big competition. the whole day was set. it was going to be perfect.

    sure enough, as she was finishing up her workout, olivia smelled the sweet smell of bacon coming from the kitchen. the smell alone made her stomach grumble with desire. pushing through her workout, the young girl stood and ran a hand through her long brown hair, untangling a strand that was tangled in on itself. she still had that morning bedhead charm as she examined herself in the full body mirror. she looked a little sleepy, with her eyelids sitting lax over her sea foam green irises, but she had never been more awake. with one more hand through her hair, she headed out towards the smell of food.

    upon reaching the kitchen, olivia was greeted by a warm and welcoming sight. as she'd suspected, the smell of food had woken her brothers as well. michael, the oldest of all of them, had probably been up about as long as she had, gone to jog on the beach. the twins, taylor and matthias would have been more likely to have just woken up. livy was the youngest in the family, just a year out of being ready to start college. she'd easily scored some pretty decent scholarships with her outstanding school work, but it was really her surfing that caught people's attention. that was what was going to get her places in life.

    "morning, grace," michael said from where he leaned against the counter. like their father, mike had sandy brown hair and that deep surfer tan. a thin layer of light stubble covered his chiseled jawline, making him irresistible to seemingly every girl in town. their mother often commented that he was the spitting image of their father when she'd met him years before. they could all see it. the only difference was in his eyes; unlike their father's sea green eyes - the same eyes olivia had inherited - michael had startlingly light blue eyes, just like their mother. he was soft-spoken and laid back, but when mike spoke, people listened. "big day ahead." tossing her a fruit from the bowl on the counter, she caught it and smiled gratefully.

    "i know, right? it's gonna be so great! can you believe i'm going to be surfing with some of the best in the world?" she knew she was good. she had always known she would be good at surfing, since the first day she'd wiped out. surfing wasn't just a sport or hobby to her. it was her passion... an extension of her soul. without it... she just wouldn't be herself.

    turning from the stove, her mother approached the table with a frying pan of sizzling bacon, slowly picking out the pieces and putting them on a plate. the older woman was beautiful and though olivia had inherited much of her father's appearance, she resembled her mother in the face and frame. she was tall and thin, with a sturdy build... like she was made to resist strong winds or pressures. that stubborn will was another trait inherited from her mother. "i don't know about that, liv... a storm's coming in and a pretty nasty one at that. michael said the waves were looking pretty nasty when he went running this morning. i don't think it's a good idea for them to go on with the competition."

    pursing her own lips, olivia grace took a bite from her fruit. "it'll be fine, mom. they won't cancel the tournament unless it gets really bad. besides, i've surfed in bad weather before. rough waves are harder to work with, but that's what makes it a challenge. that's what makes it fun." there was no way olivia would back down from this tournament. she'd been waiting her whole life for a moment like this. this was her moment. nothing was going to stop her from living her dream.

  • ♚King
    King turned in bed, he had been awake for some time now, not being able to fall back asleep. Once the boy was thinking, rarely nothing could stop him. Giving it, kingsly sat up, his dark brown spectacles scanning his room for a clean shirt and pants. Spotting some protruding from his completely filled closet, he sat up before jumping slightly as he realised how big of a day it was. His girlfriend, Olivia was to compete today.

    Fully dressed and eager to get going, King groaned as his mother called him back from leaving, "come on, I gotta see Oliva!" He protested before finally getting to go. Now as much as King was able to run to Oliva's, the boy decided not to, of course not wanting to ruin his now neatly sat hair, his ironed pants and shirt so he drove. Since becoming a model, the boy had accumulated a lot of money and now drove a real fancy car, brag worthy he always said.

    Finally reaching his girlfriends house he smiled, grabbing the keys from the ignition and his phone from the centre console and hoping out of the car, making sure to lock it after he had closed the door. Slipping his phone into his pocket, he made his way up towards the door, knocking a few times before opening it anyway. "Hey Olivia!" He called, his deep voice echoing through the house. Without waiting for an invitation in he made his way to the kitchen, hiding a frown as he saw the bacon but decided to ignore it over making a fuss of it. After all the boy was vegetarian. King stepped up behind Olivia, wrapping his large arms around the girls waist and resting his chin on her shoulder, smiling as he did so.

    ♚Dean
    It couldn't be denied that Dean loved the water. Right from a tot, his father, also a life saver had been teaching him to surf and it soon turned into a passion. He would admit that he was no where near competition status, nor really liked competing in them. But did he love to watch one!

    This morning, Dean had gotten up extremely early, in fact he was up before the sun had even poked its head out from the horizon and already he had gone for a two hour run/jog. He now sat shirtless, on the beach, his feet digging into the sand as his hands were set behind him, propping him up as he smiled. He had it good,, loving parents, a future career in photography and even was able to be out on the water all day patrolling the waters.

    Another reason the boy had gotten up early was too help set up for the competition. His father being the main life guard on the beach, he had given Dean plenty of opportunities to help out and he took every single one! In fact that boy had even managed to snag the job of jet ski patrol, a job that the others often fought about because it meant being on the water.

  • ooc;
    idea~
    dean should be friends with one or more of olivia's brothers
    he and olivia can kind of know each other before everything goes wrong
    but neither of them really has feelings for the other at first
    just a thought~

    ic;
    olivia perked up as she heard the front door to their large beach front house open up. king's voice echoed through the house, reaching the kitchen and alerting everyone of his arrival. her family all seemed to like king alright, though michael was always a little skeptical of his sister's choice in partners. all the same, though, olivia was head-over-heels for her boyfriend of a year and a half and like surfing, nothing could take him away from her.

    as he entered the kitchen, she crossed the floor in a few steps, her long legs floating her into his space. standing on her toes just a bit, she pressed a welcoming kiss on the taller boy's lips, grinning as she pulled back. "no pda in the kitchen, liv," thias called from the island counter. taylor made a catcall, only to be slapped in the head with a rolled up towel by michael who remained silent in the background.

    rolling her eyes but still smiling, olivia grace turned and rested her back against kingsly's chest, putting her hands on top of his hands as the wrapped around her thin waist. she smiled warmly and leaned her head over against his where it rested on her shoulder. they just fit together so nicely... "glad you made it," she said happily, her thumb tracing a small circle over the back of his strong left hand. "mom made pancakes too. sorry about the bacon."

    though grace, herself, wasn't a vegetarian, she deeply respected her boyfriend's view on the matter. he family had always been big meat eaters, but it was kind of cool to see the way they dialed it down for kingsly, not wanting to make him uncomfortable or alienated. of course, that morning, liv wouldn't be eating any of the bacon either. she was going purely nutritious this morning - nothing that would slow her or weigh her down once she was on the waves. she had finished her first fruit and would probably accept another before breakfast was up. this would give her the vitamins she needed to be awake and alert today.

    carefully pulling away from king's grip, she turned and pressed her lips gently to his earlobe. "hurry up and eat so we can get out of here," she whispered. she loved her family, but on a day like today, she couldn't wait to get down to the beach to have some alone time with her favorite guy. the piece of property the family owned included their own private section of the beach with an old cabin on its shore. the young couple could get into all kinds of trouble on their own. "i'm going up to change," olivia announced, a cool smile on her face. "don't wait on me to start eating."

    they would wait of course. today was olivia's day. once she returned, they would say grace and eat as a family and king. still, the young female took her time getting back to her room, her long legs carrying her effortlessly towards the door. once inside, she made quick work of changing into her day clothes. wearing a cute bikini top as a bra - you never knew when the water would call you - she slid on a thin, loose white t-shirt that made the tan of her skin stand out beautifully. after that, she slipped on a pair of short jean shorts and some sandals and ran a brush through her hair. olivia grace had never really needed makeup, though she had learned how to apply it for some of her photo shoots. today, however, wasn't the day for that. today, she was going all natural.

    heading back to the kitchen, the pretty young model threw her hair over her shoulder and took her seat at the bar next to kingsly. nudging him gently with her shoulder, she smiled. today was going to be the biggest day of her life. she could just feel it.

  • sounds good! and perhaps King and Dean aren't really the best of friends and the two often clash heads?

    ♚King
    King smiled as Olivia returned, his eyes scanning the others in the room as he grabbed Olivia's hand. Despite being cautious of the weather he wasn't going to be the one to stop her, the girl did what she wanted.

    As Olivia's mother offered him some food, King lifted his hand, "no thanks, not really hungry plus I have a photo shoot this afternoon and I can't afford to look bloated" He said shaking his head.

    //ahh sorry, I have like no muse for King whoops.

    (c) advo

    ♚Dean
    Dean looked down at his watch, sighing slightly as he knew he should get up and get going. He lifted himself up, brushing off any sand on his hands, pants and shirt before silently noting how long it would take to run to his friends, Micheal. He then began to run. Dean wouldn't dare say he was fast, he mostly just prided himself in his stamina that enabled him to run on the more often then not soft sand, which was easy transport for the boy.

    Every since the car crash that had killed his mother, Dean completely avoided cars and well any sort of transport that resulted in sitting down in. Like cars and planes and trains and all sorts. It did cut him off from a lot of his friends but he couldn't bare being in one, he would constantly get flash backs from the day and freak out. So the boy resulted in walking, running or riding his bike anywhere.

    Reaching the familiar looking beach house he smiled, before slowing to a walk and walking up to the doorway. He hesitated for a moment, ready to knock but remembered Mikes words, "Just come in next time". Dean walked forward, instinctively towards the kitchen and reaching it he smiled however that dropped slightly as he saw King. Shaking king out of his head he stepped towards Mike. "You've got to convince Olivia not to compete today, the waves a crazy!" He whispered in his friends ear, his gaze wondering over to look at Olivia.

  • olivia nudged him again, popping a grape in her mouth. "have some grapes. they won't make you bloated and your stomach won't be growling later." plucking a grape from the bowl, she lifted it up to feed it to him sweetly. she was in a good mood and nothing could change that, but she didn't want her boyfriend starving the day away just for a shoot. they were both models for the same brand and they both knew the dangers that came with the job.

    once the grape was out of her hand, she smiled warmly and leaned against him. she heard the door open and glanced over her shoulder in time to see dean come in. mike was closer to the other boy, but olivia had seen him hanging around the house. "hey dean," she said, waving her hand distractedly as she turned back to her grapes.

    michael pushed off the counter to give his friend a nice warm, hawiian welcome, grabbing his hand in a shake and pulling him in for a half hug. letting him go, he returned to his purch. making sure olivia wasn't listening, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "i know, bro... i went out on the beach this morning. but she's tough... she's not going to back down, no matter what anyone says... i'll give my two cents later, but i don't think she'll listen, even to me."

    for the last few years, mike and olivia had been really close. it was nice to have someone keeping her grounded when things were crazy. the twins were annoying tricksters, but michael was like a wise old man in a 22 year old's surfer body. if she was likely to listen to anyone it would be him.

    finishing after a decent few grapes, grace stood up and stretched her arms, her shirt coming up a bit to reveal her toned belly. once she'd stretched, she leaned forward so that her head was against king's back. pulling back again, she looked evenly at everyone. "king and i are gonna go check out the beach. i need to go down and clean my board anyway."

    it was her father who spoke up this time. "you kids be careful out there, yeah? mike said the water was pretty rough." like michael, her father was pretty easy going. when he spoke, everyone knew to listen. smiling at her father, olivia nodded. "don't worry, dad. we'll be fine. we're not planning on going swimming right now anyway."

  • ♚King
    Upon Olivia's suggestion he grabbed a few grapes, eating them quickly before standing. "We will be fine" He said smiling, turning back to Olivia, grabbing her waist and guiding her outside, smiling the whole way. "You know that Dean kid" He questioned, though already knowing he wouldn't really wait for an answer. "I think he's Jealous of me, always staring at me whenever I see him, bet he is desperate to get at you" He stated, winking playfully.

    Thinking quickly, King bent down, lifting the girl over his shoulder, holding her tightly as he trudged down the beach, laughing the whole time.

    (c) advo

    ♚Dean
    Dean clenched his jaw, noticeably too, "well, if it comes down to it, I'll make sure she gets home safely" He said, nodding as he knew Mike loved Olivia as much as he had loved his own mother. "But I'm still uncertain, even my own father refused to go for a surf with me this morning" He added, folding his arms over his chest. "That's why I didn't go out" He said, eyeing the boy. "I'll be out on the jet ski for most of the day so i'll be there to scoop her up if she does happen to fall, not that I'm doubting her of course" He said, stepping back from Mike slightly.

    Dean turned to watch the two walk outside, frowning slightly, "Never really been to keen on King" He said, as if Olivia was his own sister and he was a brother who disproved of her love.

    potentially much shorter than normal

    ic;
    michael smiled that soft smile that drove women nuts at his friend's reassuring words. though he had his doubts, it was nice to know that someone cared enough about him and his family to make promises like that. mike's eyes followed olivia and kingsly as they exited the house. he couldn't understand it, but his stomach had never agreed with that kid. when dean made his comment about the boy olivia grace had chosen to date, michael couldn't help but sigh. "that makes two of us, brother..."

    --

    as soon as they were out of the sight of the house, liv felt king's strong arms wrap around her waist once again. she loved that feeling... that closeness. "hm?" she hummed softly as he asked about dean. "i don't really know him that well... just that he and michael are close." leaning her head back against his chest, she looked up at him and grinned in amusement. "i dunno... what would he possibly have to be jealous of?" the thought had never really occurred to her that dean might look at her that way. heck, she barely knew the guy.

    before she could give it too much thought, she felt herself being lifted off the ground. with a joyous squeak, she lifted her feet and started laughing. "kingsly grey!" she exclaimed, attempting to sound irritated, but just coming across as breathless and happy. they matched through the small bundle of trees before reaching the sand. at this point, olivia started struggling again, throwing her weight sideways so as to knock them both down.

    she landed in the soft cushion of the sand, a smile of pure joy on her face. she rolled over to where king had fallen next to her and smiled over him for a moment, her hair cascading around the two of them. leaning forward, she quickly pecked him on the nose. after a sweet moment of just staring into his beautiful eyes, she pulled herself up. "bet you can't catch me." and with that, she left him lying on his back in the sand, taking her head start and literally running with it. and olivia grace lancaster was not slow.

  • ahh I'm gonna intruduce some of Kings pride in here lmao

    King laughed as they hit the sand, soon running the girls hair in his large hands, staring at her. As the girl lifted herself his eyebrows raised. "Is that how it's going to be?" He questioned smiling as he lifted himself up, brushing of some sand quickly before running after her. Despite running nearly every day, King rarely ran on sand, noting that the sand would trip him up but at the current moment at hand he couldn't care less. All he wanted was to catch Olivia, to tackle her. Kiss her, laugh with her.

    As he ran he didn't most but could help but stop when he heard to other girls yell at him from some distance away. He wasn't going to deny that he knew the two of them, in fact one of the two he had slept with on a few occasions. He glanced towards Olivia before turning and making his way over to the two, smiling as he stopped in front of them. "What's up ladies?" He questioned, his brown eyes twinkling.
    "Heard you have a photo shoot this afternoon" one of them said, twirling a piece of hair on her finger, obvious signs of flirting and King knew it. King smiled, scoffing quietly, "Well of course! big one as well, gonna be on magazines across the world"he said proudly, waving his arms around as he spoke about the magazine. Shamefully enough, King had already forgotten what he had been doing prior, mostly fixated on the two other extremely beautiful ladies in front of him.

  • ooc;
    and in turn, olivia will show off some of her confidence ~
    on mobile again
    loving this thread

    ic;
    olivia had pulled ahead father than she meant to, leaving king behind on the beach. when she looked back to see how close he was, she realized he was no longer chasing her. slowing to a walk, the young girl backtracked a bit until she spotted him, chatting up two pretty females at the edge of the beach.

    now, olivia grace had never been the jealous type. she was confident in herself and she knew that the power of being a model could go to one's head. after all, some harmless flirting never hurt anyone. besides, she had king wrapped around her little finger. she wasn't worried about losing him to some random girls on the beach.

    as she came closer, she called out to her lover. "kingsly!" smiling, she walked up next to him, wrapping her arms affectionately around one of his. with a sweet smile, she looked innocently at the two girls who now stared at her uncomfortably. "who are your friends?" she wasn't jealous, but she had no problem showing these wannabes that kingsly grey was off the market.

    running a hand through her long hair and moving it out of her face a little. "king, we need to head out to the shack. i need your help cleaning my board. if you're lucky, we can work on yours too..." she traced a circle on his bicep, very subtly with her pointer finger. so his eyes had wandered... all she had to do was remind him what he already had.

    releasing his arm, but tracing her hand down his arm until she'd gently grabbed his hand with the tips of her fingers, not pressuring him, but inviting him to follow her. this was why they'd gotten together in the first place. olivia grace lived up to her name. she was graceful in everything she did. she was confident and driven, but she wasn't too much. she let other people make their own decisions. Now it was king's turn to make a decision, but she was pretty sure he'd made the right one.

    the sky was dark for such a beautiful day. the clouds were dark blue, heavy with the promise of rain. a breeze was throwing her hair out of her face, behind her majestically. she lighting danced on her sunkissed skin, making her almost glow. the water was rough and anyone who didn't know olivia would think she wasn't strong enough. she was too gentle to face such strong currents. but that kind of attitude from others was exactly what drove to break records and come out on top. this was why she wasn't worried about king. she could overcome anything.

  • "Ahh, just some people I know" He muttered, turning to Olivia awkwardly, glancing at the girls a few times before completely concentrating on Olivia. The boy swallowed before grabbing her hand, his mind only thinking why she wasn't getting mad at him. He shook the thought out of his head before nodding towards the girls as if to say farewell and began walking.

    //Sorry for the late response, had a lot of work to catch up on + assessments to do and it doesn't help my muse is dead lmao. How about skipping to when Olivia falls off the board or somewhere close?\\

  • ooc;
    i don't know, i was wanting to work through some more chemistry with king and olivia first
    y'know, that way it's actually hard on her when he leaves
    i was thinking they could have a moment on the beach
    perhaps some make out in the shack?
    after that we can skip to the beginning of the tournament
    does that sound alright

    ic;
    as they were walking away, olivia glanced over her shoulder at the two girls, making sure they were watching. with a smile, she turned back and intertwined their fingers. "something bothering you?" she asked, noticing how quiet he was all of a sudden. "come on, king. this is gonna be a great day. let's spend it together." turning and walking backwards, she held held his hand from arms-length away. the sky was cloudy, but the lighting was perfect on her skin, making her pretty green eyes nearly transparent as she stared at him, sweetly.

    the two had been dating for a long time... or at least it had felt like a long time. it had almost been a year now and despite some trials, they were still together. "i'm really glad you're here with me, king... i feel like when i'm with you, i can do anything." she didn't need to be angry or jealous of other people because she knew that underneath all of that, they belonged together. nothing could break them up.

    as they moved further away from the two flirty girls from the beach, the wind began picking up, throwing olivia's long brown hair into her face. it was beginning to sprinkle a little as well. according to the people running the tournament, they wouldn't cancel it unless the weather got too bad. if the rain stopped by the time they went out, she was sure everything would go as planned. as the rain picked up, olivia grace found herself laughing. the water made her thin white shirt practically see-through, showing off the colorful string-bikini top beneath. "come on!" she called back to him over the wind, taking off - but not sprinting - towards the safety of the beach side shack.

    from the outside, the small building wasn't much. it had been out there since before they'd bought the property and it had definitely seen its fair share of weather over the years. from the sun bleached color of the wood and the water damage to some of the roofing, it looked rather ominous from the outside. the inside, however, was much cozier. they'd patched the inside of the roof to prevent water damage to the tools and furniture. a small twin bed was pushed back against one wall, for late nights out. multiple surf boards were stacked against another wall, and a table of supplies stood in the middle of the room. it smelled a bit musty at first, but once you'd been in for a couple moments, it just smelled natural like the beach or the water. what was important now, though, was that it was protecting them from the rain.

  • ahh sorry about that!
    I sometimes tend to wake up at like 2am and read all of my notifications and respond before I go to school/on the bus to school so my minds on something else other then those around me.
