His daughter-in-law was missing, but so far that hadn't been able to find even a trace of her. The best they could do was tell him not to worry, but how exactly was he supposed to be managing that? She was family; of course he worried. Next were they going to tell Wallace and Zach not to worry? The boys had enough on their plates with their father missing in action. The police mouthing pleasantries wasn't going to change anything.

It was, in fact, because of the boys that Tobias was at the water park. With all that was going on, the vet had thought that maybe he could distract his grandsons for a bit by taking them on a trip. It probably wouldn't work for very long, and the entry fee was far more than he'd expected, but if it distracted the boys for even a few minutes, he thought that it was well worth it.

Speaking of the boys, where were they now? Frowning, he glanced around the water park to see what mischief his grandsons were up to now.

    Wasppaw of Skyclan

To Wallace, nothing could ever take his mind off the troubles around him. The young fourteen-year-old had stumbled upon the body of his mother just outside their house - the blood that stained the snow around red like spilled juice was forever fresh in his mind - and was helpless to the kidnapping of his little sister - her screams long mocking tolls of a funeral bell, waking him from a restless sleep, panting and helpless like before - so one could understand how difficult it could be for him, especially after he gave up on his future dreams of joining the army as a soldier, like his grandfather, to instead planning for being a field medic. To help people. A whole lot of help he was doing now.
Still, Wallace was nothing if not optimistic, and when his grandfather had offered a trip to the water park, he couldn't possibly say no - though one big mission of his was to somehow convince the old vet to get into the refreshing fun himself. "Grandfather! Grandfather!" Wallace called, waving a hand from the changing room he was currently exiting. Even with his long, scruffy hair flopped over his eyes like a curtain, Wallace could find his grandfather's hulking form easily in the crowd. Wallace, currently, was wearing quite the comical outfit of pale lavender swim shorts with smiling yellow rubber duckies pattern, too-round goggles around his neck that would soon give him the appearance of a surprised owl, and the even more embarrassing neon green floaties that - somehow- managed to hold tight to his rather thick arms. Contrary to most other masculine boys his age, Wallace seemed unfazed by the curious glances he received for his little costume. While the shorts and goggles were just him being a dork, the floaties were essential as he had no training in swimming. Ever. And considering he was quite the heavy guy, he would be lying if he said he wasn't at least a little nervous to be taking on the chlorine-filled pools and slides.

Coming over to his grandfather's side, the blonde teenager rummaged through the rather large duffel bag at his side, pawing through the array of towels, shampoos, conditioners, first aid kits (never could be too careful) power bars (food in this place wasn't healthy!) extra clothes, umbrella, possibly a defibrillator, and finally pulled out a large bottle of SPF-100. "Gotta stay safe~" he said, handing the colorfully designed bottle to his guardian. Wallace himself had already applied a rather thick layer- looking very much like a vampire. Yes, indeed, if you were easily embarrassed - Wally was probably the last person you'd want to take with you...anywhere...

  • [center][fancypost=bgcolor= transparent; bordercolor= transparent; height:; width: 420px; font=; text-align: justify;][font=plantin][size=12]Despite the size of the crowd, Wallace stuck out in his oddly colored gear. On a toddler, the outfit would have been cute, but one a boy of Wallace's age, it was ridiculous. Tobias didn't notice. The family could be afforded some ridiculousness. It made it easier to focus on the here and now than the past. Even aside from the tragedies they'd been faced with recently, the man knew he had a bad tendency to linger on what had already happened.

"Wally," he greeted the blond boy as the teen returned. Tobias had thought that the bag was a bit overstuffed when he'd first seen everything Wallace planned to put inside, but he hadn't said anything. Yes, the office at the water park had first aid supplies, and he was more than willing to buy the boys snacks from a vending machine, but if it made Wallace more comfortable to pack all of this, he wasn't going to say a word.

As he was handed a bottle of sunscreen, Tobias narrowed his eyes at Wallace. "You already applied some?" Of course he had—the man could see thick swirls of it where it hadn't been properly rubbed in. "And your brother?" They had more than enough for everyone, but he firmly believed that it was more important to make sure the kids were protected than it was to apply any to himself.
