  • OOC: Dafuqs a chicken XD

"Ya mean against that thing?" Grunt A asked as he pointed at Monodian, "I still don't what it is, yo!"

"Yeah, what he said" Grunt B chimed in, both wary about battling with a Pokémon they had never seen before.

Meanwhile Mon just watched them bicker with Hau, soon glancing at Gladion with a look of confusion.

  • Hau pouted, a little frustrated with these two. Noticing his boyfriend's mood, Gladion decided to step in.

"He said it's Monodian. Maybe if you numbskulls shut your traps for more than 2 seconds, you would've heard him. Now shut your yaps before I do it for you" he threatened, striking them down with a cold hard stare and that signature pose. "Battle them. We won't take no for an answer" he spoke, his voice like steel with little emotion. It wasn't unlike back when Hau and Elio first met him a year ago.

Then, slightly out of nowhere, Gladion broke out a small smirk. He leaned towards the grunts, as if he looked down on them. "Or are you scared of battling an unknown opponent? I thought Team Skull wasn't afraid of any challenge. Are you perhaps too, Wimpod?" he mocked, placing extra emphasis on the insult

ooc: yay for edgelord standing up for his boyfriend x3

  • This seemed to do the trick, both grunts visibly irritated at Gladion mocking them. Grunt A stepped forward, getting all up in his face as much as he could before he snapped, "Whaddaya know about Team Skull, eh? Your prissy -ss ran away, don't think we forgot that!"

"Not like ya fit in anyway, yo! Ya edgy wannabe!" Grunt B butted in as he approached Gladion as well, "Ya probably think ya the s-it now because ya work some at some fancy institute!"

"Don't think we don't read, yo!"

Well... They were certainly riled up now. But not for the reasons that Gladion had hoped for... Rather than wanting to battle to prove themselves not to be a bunch of Wimpods, they focused their anger on Gladion and were beginning to gang up on him.

"Zerrrr!" Mon hissed as it snatched one of them by the back of the shirt and pulled him away, prompting the grunt to look up at Mon and say, "What? You supposed to be his weird -ss guard Arcanine or something?"

  • Gladion didn't really flinched when the grunts got up in his face, but he did raise a brow at the unexpected reaction. Huh. That was not what I was going for was all he could think of as they spouted their generic insults. Meanwhile Hau meekly tried to get them to back off, but his pleads were much too easily drown out. Looking up at the grunt Mon scooped up, Gladion had made up his mind.

"You" he gestured to the suspended grunt. "You'll be Hau's opponent. No way out of it" he stated. "And you" he then pointed to the other grunt. "You need a mint"

  • "You f**king-" The grunt had started off saying before shoving Gladion him back, "Skinny *ss piece of-" He shoved him again, "Ya really think ya the s**t now, you weren't when ya came crawling up to the boss!" With that final remark the grunt snatched Gladion by the front of his hoodie and trying to force him into a chokehold.

Thankfully, Mon intervened once again and yanked that grunt away by the arm, the delinquent still trying to go after Gladion while spewing some unfavorable language.

Poor Mon looked like an annoyed mother with two fussy kids that wouldn't behave, both having to be held back.

"Yo... Pineapple head, where'd ya get this thing anyway?" The one suspended by his shirt asked Hau, now seeming to be waiting for the other to finish blowing off steam.

  • With that shove, Gladion's composure was finally dented. "Hey! Stop!" Hau screeched at the grunt, not wanting to see Gladion hurt. It was only when Mon intervened when Gladion got a little breathing room.

"You okay?" Hau asked, placing a hand on his arm; a gesture that seemed just the slightest bit too friendly for a pair of friends

"Yeah I'm fine" he assured, straightening out his hoodie. He really didn't take anything personally, though there was some truth to the grunt's words.

He really wasn't anything much when he first got involved with the gang. Just some homeless 11 year old dweeb in fancy clothes and a bowl cut with some weird pokémon no one had ever seen before

It was then when that question was asked. Hau scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Eh, it's a long story. Anyways, let's battle!" he cheered

  • The grunt who had tried to attack Gladion raised an eyebrow at this gesture, watching as Hau placed a hand on his arm in the same manner that couples do, "Yo! The f**k you two up to?" He said with narrowed eyes, "That is some rom com s**t right there!"

"Whatchu talkin' about, man?" The other grunt, Grunt B, asked while temporarily taking his attention off of Hau to see what Grunt A was going on about.

"You not see that? They were being all gay n' s**t!"

"Eh, yo! My cousin's gay, don't be talking smack!"

After that conversation, Grunt B glanced over at Gladion before raising an eyebrow at him. "But seriously, man. Isn't that the Kahuna's kid or something? Won't he be mad if he knew that you two were... Ya know.."

At that comment, Mon dropped that grunt to his feet before landing a smack against the back of his; causing him to wince, "Sorry, sorry! Yeesh!

  • Gladion couldn't help but grit his teeth when that one grunt started making accusations like their relationship was a bad thing. Hau on the otherhand just literally chose to ignore the insult. "That's right! He's my boyfriend~" he confirmed with no shame, smiling like he was a teenage girl in love. Almost every word in that sentence was true.

"Eh" Gladion shrugged in response to B's question. "No. Not really"

Hau walked over to his side of the stage thing (forgot what its called) where battles are held. He called once again for a battle to be initiated

  • "Dude... He's like 12" Grunt B responded with a furrowed brow while shaking his head, until Hau had called him over to battle. He heaved out a sigh before fishing out a Poke Ball and approaching the other on the stage, taking his place opposite of Hau. Mon stood near the green-haired boy while studying the grunt closely, seemingly waiting for them to send out their Pokemon.

Grunt B pressed the center of the ball before pointing it outwards, Raticate manifesting in the beam of light. Grunt B then folded his arms against his chest , glancing between Hau and Mon before he pointed at the other Pokemon.

    "Raticate! Use Crunch!"

  • Gladion raised a brow at that comment, but withheld his retorts. You make it sound like we're having gay sex or something

Hau closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Normally he went into battles with the mindset of it being a game to have fun with. He never liked high stakes battles that he couldn't afford to lose. Too stressful.

But this was a different kind of battle. It wasn't about winning or losing; the goals were different this time. This was about overcoming fear. As much as Hau would've preferred to ignore his problems and focus on having fun, there was nothing fun about being scared of his own Pokémon.

Ooc: so I'm thinking that for the first half of the battle, Hau and Mon are actually very out of synch and struggle a bit. Hau keeps getting distracted by his own trauma (seeing Mon in action, especially the scythes, remind him of that), so his reaction time is a bit delayed

  • OOC: Sounds reasonable, maybe even the grunt takes notice to this and is like, "What's up with you?"

Mon narrowed its eyes as it released its blades, though it glanced back at Hau still waiting for an order. This being an actual Pokemon battle, it was actually going to let Hau choose what it did rather than acting on its own; continually looking back at Hau for directions,

  • Gladion sat on the sidelines, keeping a small distance away from grunt A. He pulled out a sign from...somewhere, that read "GO HAU", holding it up non chalantly. (He doesn't seem like the cheerleader type honestly)

Seeing the scythes come out, Hau was forced into another flashback. Gritting his teeth, Hau shook his head and tried to concentrate. "B-block it!"

  • Mon blinked a few times in surprise at Hau's sudden order, but obeyed nonetheless as it went to block with its arms; however Hau had spoken too late and Raticate came flying at Mon before chomping down on the area between its neck and shoulder.

Meanwhile Grunt A raised an eyebrow at this, arms folded against his chest.

  • Noticing Hau's strange behavior, Gladion became a bit tense. He leaned forward slightly, his free hand squeezing his knee. "C'mon Hau, you can do it" he grunted under his breath

"It's okay! Just shake it off!" Hau commanded, taking a deep breath as he tried to think of what attack to use next.

    Ooc: moveset?

  • OOC: Aura Sphere, Sacred Sword, Night Slash, Throat Chop

Mon pried the rat-like Pokemon off before tossing it back towards the grunt, Raticate hissing as it skidded slightly across the stage. Monodian rubbed the area where it had been bit while nodding at Hau, resuming its fighting stance as it waited for another command.

  • Mon did as instructed as it lunged forward, one of its blades becoming enveloped by a violet light as it swung at the rival Raticate; slashing it across the cheek and causing it to be thrown back on its side.

It scrambled back to its feet while glaring at Mon in a crouched position, Grunt B soon commanding it to use Hyper Fang now. Raticate lashed its tail while charging at Mon, its incisors glowing as it got ready to perform the move.

  • Seeing Mon slash at their opponent, Hau ended up picturing that it was Diane who received the attack, not Raticate. He didn't find himself snapping out of it until Mon had already taken damage. Ugh! Stupid! Just snap out of it! He mentally scolded, clutching his head

  • Mon stumbled back after it was struck by the Raticate's Hyper Fang, looking back towards Hau with a concern expression upon its face, "Zzzzau?..."

It seemed that even the opponent had taken notice to Hau's odd behavior, raising an eyebrow when Hau had begun holding his head in his hands. "Eh, yo! You okay, man? Need a break?" Grunt B asked with a tilt of his head, sure he could used Hau being distracted against him and keep attacking Mon while it waited on guidance; but he wasn't about to win because his opponent wasn't doing too great.

"Ya looking shaky" Grunt A called over to Hau.
