PREDATOR && PREY
Stationed in the mountains, the Tribe encounters a sort of unique set of prey as well as predators. Large animals reside in the peaks of the mountains along with birds of prey, while lower down towards the main cave quick moving rodents and smaller animals reside. Below is a list of both sets of animals, Predators displayed in a vibrant red and Prey in a green. Along with the official name the IC terms will be provided as well as how common the animal is.
Sharptooth [Mountain Lion] -- A huge, lean-muscled, short-haired, male mountain lion that is commonly found in a cave higher than the main cave as well as preying on the stray Tribe cats. He is heavily feared, and while it's believe he works alone, no cat has strayed far enough in his territory to know for sure.
Silverfurs [coyotes] -- A term used to refer to a pack of coyotes that has recently moved into the lower portions of the territory, though they're sightings have become steadily closer to the cave. Patrols are sent out to mark burnouts; trap dens dug by mothers to ward predators from their pups.
Hawks -- Not often found, though some small nests are sighted in the peaks. Dangerously smart birds that find fun in picking of the strays from patrols and hunting groups.
Eagles -- Typically found higher in the territory, though they linger around the waterfalls ledges during nesting season. Large birds that often make a quick meal of younger tribe members who wonder alone. They are often used in kittentales to scare the young felines to not venture from the nursery.
Eagles -- While they should be feared by those younger and smaller, large groups in tight clusters could possibly take down a swooping bird with the right strategy. Raccoons -- Believe it or not quite a few of the medium sized mammal can be found within vacant holes along the trails. They aren't typically caught as prey, until warmer seasons [June to august] when they start moving breeding. They are more often found pestering hunting patrols in attempts to steal the prey hunters catch.
Mountain cottontail Rabbit -- A large rabbit with small ears when compared with those found in the clans, though it is still a rather small breed. Typically found in areas of denser greenery, shrubs, and areas plentiful with herbs.
Blue hare -- A harder catch than the Rabbit, as they have stronger and large hind limbs. The faster prey hunters are often sent after them in attempts to catch them before they dive into a nearby hole. Found in small clusters in areas similar to the cottontail.
Marmots -- The plumper version of the clan's typical squirrel. They are a hardy meal, and a relatively simple catch, though the areas they live in are difficult to maneuver as they are typically found in rock slide prone areas of the territory.
Least chipmunk -- The smallest species of chipmunk, and one of the fastest. Thus making them rather fruitless to catch, though easier ones are snagged up by hunters for a quick meal and are sometimes offered to older kittens who no longer drink milk. Found in trees and thicker shrubbery.
Montane Vole -- A matte fur rodent, not commonly seen as they are found in meadows.
Viscacha -- A variation of chinchillas, known for being more fur than meat, are found in the same areas as Marmots. Quick like a rabbit, and looks like one too if it weren't for its longer tail.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I join Tribe of Rushing Waters?
As you would any other clan in the main game. You can create your own character, or adopt one from our Adoption Thread, then set up a joining thread or simply hop in as though they've been here from day one!
Can I play a high position?
I'm sorry but the answer is a no, all high positions are currently in use. But there still is a chance! When roleplayers go inactive for extended periods, slots open up for position tryouts, keep up your activity and post quality and you may get picked!
Shouldn't the stoneteller also be the shaman?
This Tribe of Rushing Waters is separate from the one created in the books, and while we try our best to resemble it as much as possible it was decided that the two become separated to allow more positions for our roleplayers.
Is the Tribe affected by the Heat and Famine plot?
Yes, the Tribe is suffering a lack of prey and has become prey themselves as hungry predators move closer to their dwelling. Though due to their higher altitude they don't suffer as much from the heat, but they air is constantly dry and rough. They still experience slight showers in the mornings and evenings, though not as often as before and the waterfall isn't as wide.
I have a question that wasn't listed, where can I get an answer?
Posting your questions below will get you an answer as soon as someone can read and reply, so please check back often!
HP REQUEST
There are a few different ways to get a high position, Stoneteller or Emissiary, to respond to a thread. The following are the most effective;
- Tagging either account; as simple as it sounds, @ing the need position is the easiest way to get some attention. [-autumn or Foam]
- In the title; adding HP NEEDED in the title of the thread is a simple way to go, though it may not be as effective as the first.
- Pm; while it is recommended that the first 2 methods are done before this step, if the thread has not been replied to with a post or track within 48 hours of HP request feel free to do so!
