Julius frowned when Carter reached him again, deciding whether or not she should let her, before giving in, "Fine, one condition though, I come along, we don't need the truck breaking down and you not knowing how to fix it" He said, nodding as he scanned the girl.

  • CARTER

Carter groaned and rolled her eyes, "Might as well show you the restaurant I was gonna show you tonight. There are these old little machiney things I thought you might like." She smiled at him and began to walk towards the area where the trucks are kept. She picked a nice old red ford, almost ancient. It's a 2015 style, but was made in around 2020 when the apocalypse started. She hopped in the front seat and rubbed the steering wheel and patted the dash.
    "Get in slowpoke!" She shouted.

    VICTOR

Victor watched Julius and Carter get in the truck, narrowing his eyes slightly.
"Make sure she doesn't do anything dumb, Julius!"

MONSTERS DON'T GET HAPPILY EVER AFTER

benjamin nodded, sitting back in his chair. at least she was a smart one. some of these other ones... he wasn't too sure about. at least one of them he's spoken do didn't understand that the "zombies" walking around were once human. anyone who killed them were essentialy a killer, whether they accepted it or not.

"that was a textbook, eva, not a novel. but i do have other books you'd be interested in." he replied as he scooted his chair to the corner of his tent. he popped open his trunk, a bunch of random medical books and tools located there. he pulled a medium sized book out from the trunk, scooting back to his desk. he set the book down, looking back at her. "why haven't you become my apprentice? or even my assistant? i know you're interested in what i do, bringing me these random things."

  • Blair was nowhere near camp, in fact, they were maybe 10 or 20 miles away rummaging through an old cabin. Blair was always prone to going very far off in order to search for items. The bright side of that meant they found some things that were very useful, like ammunition, canned foods, and medicine, but the downside was that nobody would know where they were if anything happened. A thought fluttered through their head that this was dangerous, but just like every time they went out, they had to push the thought away and remind themself that they've been doing this for years.

They entered silently with their weapon of choice in hand - a crowbar with a grip wrapped around the straighter edge. On their hip was an old 9mm Reuger, but there were low on ammo, and the forest was too big and mysterious to use such a loud weapon while alone. As far as they could see nobody was home. They closed the door behind them, backed themself into a corner, and tapped on the back wall to call attention. They heard a low moan and a scuffle on the floor and a minute later an old zombie that's skin was practically dripping off lurched in the doorframe opposite to themself. They listened for a moment longer - there was no other zombies as they could tell, just this one that came out of hiding. They took a couple steps, reared back, and smashed the crooked end of the crowbar down on the zombie's head. It fell to the floor with a loud thump, and then there was silence. Blair knocked louder on the wall, but there was nothing.

They began to rummage around the dusty cabin, starting in the main room. There was some firewood, and Blair made a mental note to grab that before they left. There was a moth-eaten blanket on a tiny sofa with little else to grab, and it was best to grab something that wasn't about to fall apart or release moth larvae. The rest of the room was disappointing. The next room over was a tiny bedroom with a bed, blankets, and a chest. Blair cracked open the chest and found a nice jacket that looked like it could have been a hunting jacket, a hatchet, and some fishing wire. They grabbed all of it out of the chest and headed outside to pack it into the back of jeep they drove around in to make it so far away. They could hear another zombie, but it was too far off to actually be a danger, so long as they were quiet. They made one last trip inside the cabin to grab the firewood and do another look-through of the cabin. Like before, there was nothing. When all was safe and fixed in place, they got in the jeep and drove off back to camp

  • Eva-Lyn shrugged, "Christoffer said I should be more focused on working on my weapon skills.." She put on her best grouchy face and faked a deep voice, "Eva-Lyn, put that book away and go practice putting that gun together!" She burst into giggles, unable to hold it for long. "It'd be really cool if I could be your apprentice, though! I could help you treat the others when they shoot their feet off!" She was an odd child... Her fingers itched to open the book and her eyes ached to start reading, but she knew it wasn't polite to read in the presence of others.

He hesitated, turning to Victor before climbing into the truck, "I don't know, that's a bit difficult with Carter!" He said back smiling before closing the door, not bothering to buckle up. "Rightio, let's go" He said, swallowing his nervousness and sitting back into the seat, staring ahead and avoiding all visual contact with the girl, hoping that she was unable to see how terrified he really was.

Cassin groaned waking up from the extremely short nap she had just taken. Dizzy, she reached up to her jawline, feeling and pressing softly, checking to see how badly it had bruised up. She winced, pain again spreading out across her check and neck. She sat up, placing her feet on the ground and scanning the room, attempting to regain her vision to what it was usually like. As much as it hurt, she still refused to believe it was any serious, she stood up slowly, her hand finding a pole on the edge of the bed and grabbing it for support. She was't able to rest, she still had to lead. She stepped out of her tent slowly, eyes scanning the camp as she reached for the edge of her tent, keeping her held up.

MONSTERS DON'T GET HAPPILY EVER AFTER

benjamin stared at the girl as she spoke, taking in her movements. he was quietly analyzing her, as he does with everyone. he nodded again, standing from his chair. he picked up the book before making his way to stand in front of the girl. it was only then that he noticed how small she was compared to him. another note added to his mental vault.

"well, what does he know? besides, i'm sure they have enough people to fix their silly guns. honestly, they don't need them... knives are just as useful." he crouched down, his face now at the same height as hers. he gave a smile before holding the book out to her. "how about i talk to him about it, hmm? that smart brain of yours should be put to use, i'm sure he'll agree." he finished, tapping her lightly on the forehead as he said the word "brain". honestly, he wouldn't mind the help around here, and eva was a sweet kid, how could he say no?

  • CARTER

Carter sighed and took her knife out of her pocket, it was her favorite. She held it out to him, holding the blade carefully and waiting for him to take it. "You know how to use one of these?" She asked with a smirk as she turned the key over, starting the truck and shifting the stick to drive and drove out of the specialized entrance near the trucks. "You better take care of that"

  • With her brown eyes as wide as saucers, she nodded, "You'd do that for me? Oh thank you!!" She bounced a small bit, giggling, taking the large textbook and holding it with both hands, holding it close to her chest so she didn't drop it. "I promise to be a really good Apprentice!" She vowed, wanting to hug him, but not wanting to drop his book.

Christoffer was back under the armored truck, putting a newer part in and sealing it all back up. He quickly wheeled himself out from under and gave a mandatory 'Test-Start!' shout, just incase anyone was in the shop with him and he didn't know it, he pulled the door open and turned the key of the truck. It started up quickly and ran smoothly, making him relax a little bit and let out a soft breath, relaxing in the driver seat.

  • OOC: my tablet is acting up so i gotta be on mobile for a bit

Blair quickly arrived back at camp in the Jeep. They carefully parked around the wall of the camp, collected the items and went inside to store what they found in the collective community Supply area. After thinking on it further, they grabbed the jacket that they found and headed off to find Chris. In their mind, Blair imagined that Eva-Lyn could always use another jacket to prepare for the colder season. Blair always knew that Chris would be in the shop working on cars and headed there first - they were lucky enough to find him bent over an armored truck.

Blair knocked on the wall then stepped closer to the much taller man, "Hey Christoffer, I found something I think you may like." They held up the jacket in front of their face for a moment before lowering it, "I thought maybe Eva could use a sturdier one; it's getting colder out by the day."

  • Christoffer looked up, seeing Blair, he smiled, then saw the jacket. "Thank you, Blair, you'll have to give it to her when she comes back from what ever it is she runs off to do... But it's really kind for you to find her things like that." He moved away so he could wipe his hands on a torn piece of cloth, then back to Blair. "So, how was your little adventure? Find anything interesting like last time?" He tucked the cloth into the hem of his jeans, unable to stay in one place while having a conversation, his brain remembered he had finally repaired a cool piece that Blair had found on one of the trips they had taken, now he just had to find where he had put it.

  • Blair smiled at him but had a hard time keeping eye contact - beautiful faces were intimidating and his was particularly nice,"It's no problem, really. I'm happy to help the group," they looked for a place to put down the jacket, but since there was no apparently-clean place they decided to keep holding onto it, "The trip was really nice. I found this old cabin with this jacket, a hatchet, some fishing line, and some good firewood. It's nothing too important, but it's stuff we could use. I wish I had found some food though..." they looked at the armored truck he was working on, "How's this baby comin' along?"

  • He turned and gave them a huge grin, "Im glad you asked, actually! I fixed the--- *enter long boring mechanic parts, all that he miraculously fixed* and now she is ready for you to take her on your next adventure--" He paused. "Aha!! Here it is!!" He pulled out the small thing-a-ma-bob and presented it to them. "Here you are! I fixed it, just as you asked. I think it's as good as new. I had to take apart a small broken toy in the junk yard for it to be fixed, but I think it should work now."

((It can be whatever you want in interest wise.))

  • Blair mentally went somewhere else when Chris started explaining everything about his latest build. They didn't exactly care about care in general, but they liked how enthusiastic Chris was about them, "Wow, I get to drive this baby around now? Woooow..." a wider smile spread on their face when he brought out the motion-charged flashlight, "Oh my God! I can't believe you fixed it! You're a genius! I never have to hunt down batteries again! Thank you so much"

  • Chris proudly presented it, flipping up the little handle on the side and winding up the handle quickly, "Two turns gives you an hour. I wouldn't go over 24 turns." He handed it over to them after pressing a small rubber button and the light quickly shining onto the floor. "See? But don't spare batteries either, we still have others with not so cool flashlights, Blair." He fake chastised, patting them on the shoulder. "Let me know when you have another project for me."

"Of course" He said smirking as he grabbed the knife, swishing it a few times before laying it in his lap. Julius nodded as he was told to look after it, "I mean, I don't think I could as much as you do but I'll do my best" He said smiling, looking at her.

unsure of why, A pang of jealously washed over Cassin as she witnessed Blair step into the shop. Knowing they would be searching for Chris she frowned. Ignoring the dull throbbing from her jaw she walked forwards towards the shop, grabbing on what she could to keep balanced. Reaching the shop, she stepped in, nodding towards Blair before turning to Chris "If you've got time can you check out my truck, going on a raid soon or maybe early tomorrrow" She said, swallowing nervously.

  • Chris looked from Blair to Cassin, to her jaw, and back to her eyes, "Cassin, what happened?" He moved from Blair to Cassin, gabbing her forearms and giving her some support. He felt the panic rise, "You need to see a medic, now, Cassin. The raid can wait. You need help. I should have known better than to send you alone." He moved to pull out a stool and guide her to sit on it. "You might have a concussion or worse..." He gently raised a hand to her jaw, carefully dragging the tips of his fingers over the area, he suddenly pulled back and faced Blair, "Blair, stay here with Cassin, I'm going to find Benjamin and maybe Rhysand if I find him.."

  • As soon as Blair saw the concern on Chris' face they turned to see the problem. Their Fearless Leader Cassin had a massive bruise down her neck and she looked like she was about to fall over. They literally dropped everything and hurried over to her, "Oh my gosh, what happened?!" real concern and fear tinged their voice as they looked to see what else was wrong with the girl. They waved Chris off so he could find either of the camp's medics then returned their gaze back to Cassin. Blair lifted up on a strap on their tool belt and pulled out a canister of water, "Here. Maybe drinking something will help."

Cassin frowned at the concern, "Two men, in their thirty's maybe jumped me from behind" She said sitting, her hand resting on her jawline as she traced it. "I'm fine" She said looking up at Blair, "I'm not thirsty" She added, looking back down in disappointment as she realised what Chris had said,
I should have known better then to send you alone. Cassin frowned again, if she hadn't gone alone it could be someone else injured rather then herself, a big no no in her own books.
