  • The year is 2043, the land has been overrun by zombies.
The outbreak began in 2020, when a young man contracted an unknown disease from a dying animal he encountered on the side of the road. Once he got back to civilization he began to infect everyone, women and children.
The goal here, is to get along without killing your group-mates and to treat one another like family and continue to stay alive.
These zombies aren't like any you've seen before, they have strategy.
    Watch your young.

  • Wake Up

EVERY NOW AND THEN I KICK THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME

Carter sighed, sitting at the corner of camp and paced. She stared pasted the fence, looking at a small deer standing at the edge of the forest. She shook her head as she grabbed her pistol out of her thigh holster. She walked out of camp silently, passing the guards with a nod and began to jog into the forest. She dodged trees, leaped over stumps and stopped at a small grimy stream. She enjoyed being alone on patrols, even if Cassin didn't assign her to go on one. Cassin had an issue with Carter going off by herself, but she had gotten used to it by now.

  • Eva-Lye bounced around the camp, singing some kind of rhyming song about a bird in a gum tree she had read in a small nursery rhyme book that Christoffer bought for her on her birthday a few years ago. That book was always her favorite and she would sing songs from it to cheer up the other kids when ever they got sick or were unhappy.

Christoffer was under a broken armored truck, small grunts coming from his mouth as he strained to remove a stuck cap to replace it. He growled in frustration once he finally got if off, only for some back substance to shoot all over his body. He quickly moved from under the vehicle and went to wipe himself with a towel of some kind..

"Man..." He made a face as he went to wipe it out of his hair.

Julius watched the girl leave, frowning as she did so, despite never really being out of camp, he knew for a fact that no one could leave without orders from Cassin, despite this, Julius wasn't one to get involved in anything and knew he wasn't even allowed to step outside the camp. Julius stood up, stretching his arms as he did so and yawned.

Cassin took a bite out of the apple she had been holding, eating in silence as thoughts rushed through her head. More ways to better the lives of her people. Finishing the apple, she stood up, chucking the core in a makeshift rubbish bin and walking out of her own tent. Scanning the camp, she frowned before making her way over to Christoffer. "Oh no, not in the hair" She said smirking once reaching the boy, grabbing her own handkerchief which was really just torn fabric off an old shirt and handed to him, "At least it's clean" She said waiting for the boy to grab it.

EVERY NOW AND THEN I KICK THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME

After about 20 minutes, Carter began her walk back. She passed the guards as she came back in, shoving her pistol back into the thigh holster after turning the safety on. She looked over at Julius and blushed, waving slightly. "H-hey" she mumbled softly and rocked back and forth on the balls of her feet. "How are you?"

  • Eva-Lyn skipped along her path, towards the fences, linking her fingers in the links, looking out over an empty field, she sang out louder, liking the sound of her voice echoing along the trees and bushes that were scattered in the field, scaring off birds and squirrels...

Christoffer sat up, hesitating before taking up her offer, gently cleaning out his hair of the muck that had sprayed him. He kept his eyes adverted, even as he thanked her. He pushed himself up, standing and leaning against the armored truck. He cleared his throat, nervously fiddling with the torn cloth.

"Thanks, I owe you.... So, what brings you over here? Did your radio blow out again? If so, I got more wires from the last trip..." His deep voice didn't waver, but anyone could see from his voice that he was nervous slightly of making a fool of himself in front of her.

Julius nodded as the girl made her way over to him. "Hey" He said smiling, "and myself? I'm alright, bit tired but what are you gonna do?" He answered before placing his dirt covered hands into his pockets, "Yourself?" He questioned "I see you've already been out despite Cassin not knowing" He added smirking, "not exactly wise in an apocalypse don't you think?" He added, his eyes scanning the girl. Truth be told, Julius had fancied her for some time now, it was a miracle that he was holding it together as much as he could.

Cassin smiled, "Nah it's fine" She said, before continuing "Well, Isn't you're leader allowed to have a friendly chat once in a while and not bark out orders?" She questioned jokingly winking.
Cassin coughed quietly, before looking over her shoulder at Eva-Lyn, "How's your sister?" She questioned attempting to change the subject and kill the awkwardness.

  • Christoffer laughed, "True. I'm just normally wanted rather than chatted with.... And she's... getting better.... Since we lost our last brother, she was so... quiet.. but after your talk with her, she seemed comfortable with the idea that he is resting and not in anymore pain..." He moved the cloth to wipe his face a bit, not waiting for it to stain his skin. "She really looks up to you a lot... I just wish she'd listen to me occasionally.." He laughed.

Eva-Lyn turned when she felt eyes on her, seeing Cassin with her big brother she squealed and dropped from the tall fence, landing on her knees but almost immediately breaking into a sprint, her long dirty hair (although she had a bath just that previous night) flowing behind her, brown eyes looking like gold in the sunlight. She was nearly to the two when she tripped with a quiet gasp, causing Chris to suddenly instantly run over to her and pick her up before the water-works started and carry her back over to Cassin at his makeshift work area. She was obviously trying to tough out any cries to try and impress Cassin, but she couldn't help the occasional tears.

Carter shook her head and blushed, "I would rather be alone on patrols so I don't have to take care of anybody." she shrugged a bit and swayed her shoulders. "I don't enjoy being by people sometimes, besides, I can take care of myself." Carter looked the boy up and down quickly and blushed again and grinned like an idiot. Damnit Carter, man up. She willed herself.

Julius raised his eyebrows "Good point but even then I doubt if you were on patrol with someone, you would help them" He said smirking, before shaking his head slightly. "I mean, hey at least you're allowed at, Cassin needs my smarts back here" He said sarcastically and tapping his head, "This power comes with responsibility and that is not leaving this camp to be killed" He added smiling.

Cassin frowned as she saw Eva-lyn trip. Once the two were at her, she bent down so she was eye level with the girl and smiled, "Hey" She said quietly, wiping the tears from the girls face, "No need for tears" She added calmly, occasionally looking at Chris and nodding slightly. "Look, not even any blood, you could have done better" She said winking to the girl and smiling. Cassin quickly took her gloves off, resting them beside her and embracing the little girl, looking up at Chris as she did so.

EVERY NOW AND THEN I KICK THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME

Carter grinned and raised an eyebrow, "You should sneak out with me tonight, I'll protect you." she whipped her pistol out and twirled it around her finger and put it back in the holster. "You gonna be up for it?"

  • Chris worriedly brushed Eva-Lyn's hair back with his fingers, cautiously handing her over to Cassin as she embraced her, watching them both. He wanted to fret over Eva-Lyn, but while Cassin was there, he refrained from doing so. He'd feel endlessly embarrassed and unable to ever show her his face ever again--

Eva-Lyn sniffed and gave her a big smile, "Y-yeah... " Her smile revealed a newly missing bottom tooth from her past-perfect smile. She giggled and fished in her pants pocket, pulling out a small animal's jaw bone that was covered in mud and dirt, "L-look what I found! I think it might be a raccoon or a cat!"

  • So I was thinking as a plot, another camp could have popped up somewhere else and is now trying to contact Cassin's camp?

Frowning the boy looked the girl up and down, "Uhhh, I Dunno" He said, rubbing the back of his head, deciding whether or not he should agree to the offer. "I mean, it's dark, wouldn't be able to see anything" He added, looking back at her before shaking his head. He looked behind him, checking to see if Cassin or anyone else was within hearing range before turning back and nodding, "Fine, but only for a bit. I don't feel like dying tonight" He said, finally giving in yet not smiling.

Cassin smiled seeing the girls reaction before raising her eyebrows at Chris "Loosen up" she mouthed to him as the excited girl pulled out the bone. "Hmm, looks like a cat, you're right!" She exclaimed, scanning the bone and smiling.

Before long, she heard crackling from her radio and she frowned. "Hey, look, I'll be right back, I'll have to check out the radio" She said standing and nodding towards Chris as if asking him to follow.

  • Eva-Lyn squealed and admired the bone she identified correctly. Her heart swelled at the praise, moving to sit up slightly.

Chris nodded to her, but first kneeling down and picking up Eva-Lyn to her feet. "Go on, go find me more facts about these cats, I don't know much about them so you have to tell me more about them... Maybe make up a story for your cat's jaw and how it got there." He kissed her head, then stood to follow after Cassin. "Has the radio been making that sound a lot lately?"

    Wake Up

EVERY NOW AND THEN I KICK THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME

Grinning, Carter nudged him with a shoulder "live a little." she smirked and walked off to her tent where she danced around a little bit before sighing and laying on her cot and closing her eyes. Fucking finally she thought to herself before crossing her legs and squirmed slightly.

Julius frowned at her words, "Live a little" Repeated in his head before he shook the thought out and returned to a car he had been working on that morning. Despite liking the girl, Julius was in no means qualified to be able to defend himself outside of the camp let alone, help the girl if he needed to. Julius again shook his head before giving up on the car, chucking the makeshift spanner to the side and walking off to his own tent, slipping off his dirt stained shirt revealing his, sweaty chest and lied down in his cot, arm across his eyes and the other by his side, picking at a loose string on his pants.

Cassin shrugged, "Maybe a couple of times, didn't think too much of it, but may as well have you look at it even if its nothing" She said looking at him. Reaching her tent she stopped the boy from entering before racing in, cleaning up the little mess then inviting the boy in. It was uncommon for the girl to let anyone in her own tent, it was her own private place where she didn't have to be in a high position, she could just be her. Awkwardly she made her way to the desk, something Julius had made for her one day and tapped the radio, "Here ya go, Mechanic Boy" She said crossing her arms and watching him. Making sure, he didn't look too much into her room and rather just focused on the radio.

  • Christoffer didn't dare say anything nor pay much mind to the state of her living space as his wasn't much better, being a tinker he had all sorts of spare parts, small robots, and left over projects and books and tools all over his living space.

He immediately went to the radio, sitting at her desk carefully. The radio was the one he had helped fix years ago and led him into taking up the role as a mechanic, which few were allowed to do.

He fiddled with the back panel, popping it off with no effort and playing with a large red wire, then setting it down and playing with the dials until a clear voice came in on the radio... well, as clear as it was going to get... He turned up the radio and moved out of the seat, to allow her to sit with the microphone and radio.

Carter sighed, tying her hair back and listened to the commotion of the camp. She sat in the entrance of her tent, cross legged and staring unblinkingly at the busy camp life around her. She began to smile, because she had a chance to show off to Julius tonight. She would show him the old restaurant she had found, the one with the old pin-ball machine and juke box. She knew he would like those, him being a mechanic and all.

Eventually falling asleep, the boy dreamt about a world where no zombies were, where everything was normal. No threat of the dead rising and chasing after you, a happy life where he was able to have a family. To be happy. His sleep didn't last long which was normal as a metal ball fell from his desk, pushed by the wind. He sat up, now cold from the wind hitting his abs and stood up. Lifting the ball from the ground and placing it back onto the desk, stabilising it with two books. He then turned, grabbed a shirt that was semi clean and slipped it on, stretching his arms as he did so.

Cassin's eyes widened as she heard the voice, "Hello?" She said urgently sitting down in the seat, and slipping on the headphones so she could hear the voice clearer , "Can you hear me?" She spoke into the mic, "Who is there, Do you need help, can I help you?" He asked multiple times before receiving a quite answer.

"We are a camp, near a lake" The voice said back to her, "We don't need help, we just want to know if there was if we needed" The barely audio voice answered.

"Alright" Cassin said looking up at Chris, "We are always here if you need it, over" She said slipping the headphones without giving off any other information. "We can't give them any other information, they could be wanting our supplies, better left unsaid where we are" She said turning to Chris nodding slightly as if giving herself closure. "I should go check it out anyhow, I know where the lake is and it isn't far. I should be back before dark" She said, grabbing a coat from her bed and slipping it on over her shirt, "Tell Rhysand what's going on" She added turning back to him and smiling.
