  • And immediately, it appeared that Thomas would cut Alex some slack, being that he chose not to say or even look at Alexander.
"Alright," Burr began, looking into the car mirror back at the four men. "Are we ready to continue on?"

  • Alex grabbed his sour gummy worms and nodded, excited to travel some more. Lafayette, however, was more excited for Burr's vacation home.
"When are we getting to your vacation home? I want to relax without all this car trip tension." Lafayette asked, feeling the argument lingering in the thick, tense air.

  • "It will take at least till tomorrow morning, which means we have to find somewhere to spend the night," Burr explained solely focused on Lafayette. They had been driving since this morning and it took at least 18 hours to get there, which meant an additional 6 considering he had the revolutionaries in his car. "We need to find somewhere cheap."
"So that means we're not taking any of Thomas's suggestions?" John asked, knowing that this could be excused as playful banter whether than him actually being mad at the other man.

  • Alexander let out a laugh, as did Hercules while Lafayette nodded in agreement. Herc let a arm slide across Lafayette as he laughed, a natural reaction that he had been doing lately. In fact, Herc had been a lot more touchy while Lafayette lately.

  • Really no one took notice of this small detail, all except for Burr who decided not to share this with the rest of the group. It was not his place to say if they were together or not.
Thomas huffed at the comment, but again chose not to retaliate while Lafayette was still in the car.

  • John gladly accepted the gift from his boyfriend, popping it into his mouth with a sense of pride.
"Alright, but we do need to find a place to stay," Burr reminded the group. Some toom this in mind and whipped out their phones despite the data usage or the low battery life.

  • Alexander whipped out his phone, despite it being 3% and most of his data used. He frowned, thinking that maybe he should get a new phone plan since his was so crappy. He tired searching for a cheap motel, or hotel.

  • Several pulled up from the Google search and each one was quickly being left behind them as Burr continued to drive down the highway. John peeked over his shoulder and immediately grimaced at the more expensive hotels, and even motels, that a band of college students could not afford. Well, maybe trust-funded Thomas if he went alone.

  • Then, Lafayette found a cheap motel. He beamed and nearly dropped his phone from excitement.

"Found one! " He nearly shouted, causing Herc to proudly smile.

  • Thomas whipped his head around. John stopped looking at Alexander. Alexander, though grateful that his friend found one, also wanted to be the one to do so. And Aaron surprisingly was the first to speak up.

    "So, where is it?"

  • Which served to have Thomas grab hold of the steering wheel and yank it towards himself. The car swerved and by some miracle by the everlasting love of the Lord they did not crash.

Burr nearly had a heart attack as he took control of the wheel again and straightened the van so they would remain on the road. In the back everyone was petrified except for Mulligan, who looked absolutely delighted and crazed.

  • John himself was clinging to Alexander. He was wide eyed before he saw Thomas looking back at them.

Aaron snapped. Something he refrained from doing. "You could have killed us!"

  • Alexander mumbled, "I image death so much it feels more like a memory."

Lafayette wacked his brother on the side of the head, "Are you crazy? "

  • Thomas held his head and glared back at Lafayette. "No," he pouted, "I just didn't want to drive around another ten minutes because Burr missed the turn."

"We could have died," John snapped, still holding on to Alex.

"But we didn't, so you're welcome."

  • Alex still hadn't calmed from the sudden turn, as he was prone to being spooked and going through panics and panic attacks. He liked to joke around and say he was in a constant state of panicking.

Lafayette was worried for Alex, being a generally kind person.

    "Alex, are you ok? "

  • John snapped his head back to Alex, who seemed transfixed by the sight in front of him. Which couldn't possibly be the case as Thomas was the only person in front of him as he yoo was staring back at the tiny man.

"Alex?" John asked in a low voice where only the addressed could hear. "Are you alright?"
