[center]☆*:・☽ I'D FOLLOW YOU DEEP SEA, BABY!
    [center]

today was the first day of her new self. having graduated high school she was on her own in order to find her purpose in life. the reality of her situation was her elevated independence and craving for freedom. her family, although hectic at times, was a good one. there was nothing ever wrong with her home. the only thing "wrong" was heather. after saving up for years all of her hard work would be put to use for her new apartment. the los angeles area was not a cheap one to live in, and after a month of living alone she was ready to acquire a room mate. she had searched through many emails and taken many calls until deciding upon the most normal of them all. it was a male, which didn't bother her in the slightest, but she had a gut feeling he wouldn't try to chop her into little mimi slices while she was sleeping.

she was finally meeting the mystery man and she couldn't have been more excited. she bounced up and down in the kitchen, her hands glued to the marble counter in case she jumped high enough to float out of orbit. before he arrived at noon she had cleaned the whole apartment. their shared living space was nothing special -- two small bedrooms, one even smaller bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. although she'd prefer an abode with a hot tub in every corner she couldn't quite afford it yet. the walls were painted white with a washed out cream carpet. she hadn't decorated much, just a clock near the front door and a few paintings she'd bought from a street vendor. decorating was both of their responsibility no matter how hard it was for her not to take control of the apartment's aesthetic.

a knock at the door caused heather to squeak in delight. she brushed down the fitted ebony shirt she wore prior to approaching the door. she twisted the knob, plastering a warm smile on her face. her optics widened in surprise when the masculine figure came into view, tilting her head up in order to scrutinize his visage. wait nobody said anything about him being hot! she thought. "hello there! my name's heather. nice to meet you, benjamin. come in and welcome to casa de us because it's not casa de muffin anymore." she purred, swinging the door open wider as an inviting gesture. she spun on her heel, walking toward the short hallway that led to the bedrooms. "you'll be bunking in the room to the right unless you planned on sleeping under my bed or something." she chuckled, glancing back at him over her shoulder. it was evident she wasn't a very bashful girl, nor was there any ounce of modesty littering her body.

"how soon would you like to adopt cats? this place is so dull without cat scratches on every surface and fur on the walls. or are you more of a ferret person? everyone says ferrets stink but i feel like they're worth the strange scent. i bet i was a ferret in a past life. not because i smell odd or anything," she paused to chuckle, stepping inside of ben's novel empty room. "but because they're crazy and i'm crazy. they're fun and i'm fun! they're adorable and i'm adorable. we really have so much in common." did she ever shut up? not usually.

ben couldn't remember a time he'd been this nervous about meeting someone new. it had been years since he'd lived here with his folks and after all that time living out in the rural mountains of colorado, being back on the city streets of san francisco just felt alien to him. but extenuating circumstances had brought him back to this little corner of the earth and to the doorstep of one, heather smith. he wasn't really concerned with the fact that she was a girl - i mean, who knew what could happen there - but, then, he hadn't met her yet and the realization that he would be living with this person for a while was a bit intimidating.

still, he steeled himself as he walked up to the door, a suitcase in each hand, a duffel over his shoulder, and a beat up looking guitar case fastened to his broad back. he hadn't shaved in a few days so his beard was a little thicker than usual and his quiff floofed awkwardly in his face from the walk up the stairs to her door. his attractive brown eyes were hidden behind a sexy pair of ray bans. He hadn't really had a chance to dress up for this encounter, either as he wore a pair of kahki cargo shorts and a black tank that was currently reveal a good deal of his chiseled chest, with the words we're all freaks scrawled across the front in white letters. to top it all off, he wore a pair of surfer sandals that showed off his long, tan feet. just from looking at him, you could tell he was the outdoorsy type.

releasing one of his cases, ben adjusted the bags before knocking on the door. he heard a bit of a shuffle on the other side of the door before it was thrown open by one of the prettiest girls he'd seen in a while. everything about her was attractive, from the bleached blondness of her hair to her hazel doe-eyes. of course, there wasn't time for old benji to appreciate the view, before she was flapping her lips at a hundred miles a second. benjamin had never been the shy type - well, not since he'd been a kid - but she was coming on way strong and it was enough for him to have to take a mental step back to recuperate.

walking into the apartment, feeling a bit like a pack mule, ben released his suitcase again to lift his sunglasses to the top of his head where they pinned down his wild excuse for hair. he scanned the small apartment not yet shedding his outer layers of baggage, yet. carefully kicking the door closed behind him, he followed her deeper into his new home. when she took a second to breathe between words, he interjected. "nice place. and, the right room will do great, thanks." she was definitely perky, that was for sure.

as he brushed past her into the small, empty room, he finally started dropping his bags. she started going off about cats and he started feeling a bit overwhelmed. turning around to see her going off on a tangent about ferrets, he raised his eyebrows. she mentioned the bit about smelling weird and he actually laughed a little, his voice a neutral pitch and a bit husky. he'd caught a wif of her when he'd brushed past her before and she'd actually smelled intoxicatingly nice. "whoa," he said, chuckling as he spoke, "let's slow down a bit. i just got here... let's save the cat talk for another day, yeah?" it wasn't that he had anything against cats, but he needed her to slow down a bit. he was still a bit wiped from the cab ride here and all of this information was making his head spin.

heather cocked a curious eyebrow at the mention of "slowing down". what did that mean? it wasn't a phrase she stored within her cranium. "not ready for the responsibility yet, eh? that's not a problem! we'll talk about it soon. i for one love little creatures. i've had seven cats, five dogs, eight fish, two hamsters, and like twelve snails that hatched a lot of baby snails." a smug smile was slapped onto her lovely face, tawny eyes drinking in the features that most defined the man. "i really like your tattoos. that looks like it must have been expensive. i've been wanting to get a tattoo. since we'll hopefully be seeing a lot of each other i'm sure we'll be great friends. maybe we can buy some ink and you can repeatedly jab a needle into my flesh yourself! that'd be a great bonding experience. it'd be like we're in some sort of ritualistic tribe together." she laughed prior to turning away from his room to allow him some space.

"you can explore the apartment if you want! there's nothing to hide in my room either so go in if you'd like." her room was a spectacular sight to beyond indeed. her blinds were constantly left closed to allow her multiple strings of fairy lights to glow at all times of the day. decorative lanterns were hung in a spiral shape along the ceiling, matching the autumn colors of her bohemian bed filled to the brim with pillows and plush animals. there was a potted plant here and there while floral paintings and random personal drawings scattered the walls. it was a bit chaotic at first glance, perhaps because she was the polar opposite of a minimalist, but after a few moments the messy creativity was admirable. heather returned to the kitchen where she pulled out a pitcher of homemade tea. the summer in california was drawing to an end, meaning the tourists would soon be leaving los angeles to return to their homes. although fall approach the weather was still perfectly toasty, and had it not been warm she would have preferred the tea hot.

she reached into the nearby cabinet, placing two glass cups onto the counter in order to fill them with the mahogany liquid. "hey benjamin? do you like black tea?" she called into the other room as she sifted through the kitchen for her sugar. "nevermind! if you hate it still drink it as a favor for me. i made it in your honor!" upon finding the sweetener she plopped two of the sugary cubes into both glasses, stirring them with a spoon she'd retriever from the drawer. she allowed the sucrose to dissolve while she returned to ben's side for further questioning. she would hate to come off as a nosy bitch albeit she couldn't allow a stranger into her apartment without becoming a bit more knowledgeable.

"so you're from colorado? what made you want to come to a busy place like LA?" heather spoke the moment her optics landed on the blond brute. "i know a lot of people move here for career opportunities with entertainment but... i don't know. you don't strike me as the entertaining type." she tapped her index finger against her chin in deeper thought. "i could be wrong about that. not all people have to be in your face to still be in the entertainment industry."

it had been a long time since ben had even considered calling LA his home, again, but as did a quick panorama of his new room, he already felt a bit more comfortable in the city. and then there was his roommate. she was a noisy little thing, considerably shorter than him and still talking, non-stop, since the moment he walked through the front door. she was definitely cute, but he got the feeling she could talk his ear off if given the chance. then, though, to top it off, he couldn't place it, but there was something so frustratingly familiar about the girl. heather smith... why did the name ring all the bells in his head? and he had some faint memories of lots of animals when he was younger, but his parents had never let him have small pets like hamsters and fish.

"that's quite an impressive history," he commented coolly, putting his guitar case down on the bed and shedding the last of his bags. stretching his arms over his head, he leaned from side to side in an attempt to loosen his tensed muscles. his body was in the best shape it had ever been. he'd started working out as a distraction from his hectic life, but it had quickly turned to more of a hobby. as he stopped stretching, he noticed her eyes on him and raising an eyebrow. before he could ask, she commented on his tattoos. "ah, yeah... they're not too expensive. i got most of them at different times, so i was spreading out my spending. glad you like 'em, though." he grinned a handsome grin as she mentioned wanting one of her own. "there's no way i'm going near you with a needle," he said, running a hand through his hair and knocking his glasses off. luckily, they landed on the bed. "all of mine are professionally done and i'm no where near qualified for something like that. i will hold you hand while you get one, though," he said, a bit of humor in his voice. he remembered the familiar pain of his second tattoo. he hadn't felt his first one at all, really, due to the nerve damage in his shoulder, but the second one had burned like fire.

as she wandered off away from his room, ben felt a little more at ease. there was nothing wrong with her, she would just take some getting used to. turning and looking at the three bags that contained all of his belongings, he sighed. unpacking wouldn't take long, but it would be a while before he actually started feeling at home. he would need to go shopping soon as well, to get some necessities. for the night, he'd just ask if she had a blanket he could borrow.

while he was unzipping his first bag, he heard her call from the other room. black tea sounded nice, but before he could respond, she'd already decided he would be drinking it. chuckling he shook his head, a smile on his lips. "thanks," he called back, returning his focus to his case. the first one was filled mostly with clothes, though there were a few mementos as well. it wasn't much, but it was his. he nearly jumped out of his skin as she returned to his side.

"i came to los angeles to work with my band. i'm lead singer and guitarist and we just decided it was time for a change of scenery. besides, i lived here when i was a kid. what about you? lived here your whole life or do you have some special backstory i should know?" he didn't mind getting to know her, he figured it was probably a pretty good idea, all things considered. but even as he talked to her and stared at her pretty face, he couldn't quite place where he knew her. it was like the answer was sitting at the tip of his tongue, but he just could not spit it out.

"i was wondering if that guitar on your back was for campfire songs or something more important." she chuckled, brushing a strand of honey hair behind her ear. "that sounds really great. i would offer to jam with you and impress your band mates but honestly i have no artistic talent. i can't play instruments or sing. i can't draw or write. i guess my only talent is being me." she began to inch further into the room, her arms now folding across her chest in an akimbo fashion. "i also see you've taken off your sunglasses. for a minute i was worried you'd be the son of medusa and those shades were the only thing keeping me from shutting up for eternity." she offered him a small smirk. like a shifty weasel she snatched up the glasses, placing them atop her precious head for no particular reason. she was like an annoying little sister whose wrath you could never evade.

"i've lived here for a good majority of my life. i lived up north in santa barbara for a while but moved back here two years ago. i have a big family and there were more jobs in the LA area to support us all." heather shrugged her shoulders in a careless manner, removing the shades from her crown to set them gently on his barren mattress. "my backstory isn't very special and i'm not a shady person. i'm an open book to a point where it's disgusting. i wish you luck if you'd ever like to embarrass me. i love laughing at myself and my stupid decisions." a smug smile quirked her peach lips upward after her eyes had met his for the first time. "i really want to hear your band play now. what's your group's name? i'm pretty hip. maybe i've heard of you from a little bird?" she suggested hopefully even though it was a complete lie. she was the least hip person she could think of. that was saying something considering the millions of friends she possessed.

a small buzzing in the pocket of her tight jeans caused the vixen to flinch in surprise. "sorry." she murmured to ben prior to pulling her smartphone into view. she answered the call with a friendly greeting, soon silencing as she listened to the person on the other end. a gasp escaped her mouth, her expression somehow brightening even further. "that sounds so fun! i'm definitely going! is it okay if i bring a plus one? he's really cute i think you'd like him and his tattoos." she giggled into the phone, turning her back toward the male in the room as she continued to spew little nonsense for the next minute. finally she signed off with a loud farewell, stuffing the thin rectangle into her pocket once again.

"that was my best friend, tara." she mentioned as she twirled to face benjamin anew. "she invited me to a bonfire tonight. would you like to go? don't worry about meeting new people because everyone is lame here except me. you can stick with me and tara. you'll love her because she's like me only not as extravagant." she laughed softly, pressing her back up against the nearest wall. "don't feel pressured into saying yes. maybe you could invite your band members as well? it'd be fun to promote yourself. tara may want to get a cute boy to herself considering she's not too keen on sharing. your friends are cute too, right?"

"i do play a mean campfire medley," he said, glancing at his guitar fondly. it had been the product of hard work and the generosity from an old man in a record store in no-where colorado. a slight grin tugged at his pink lips at the memory. when she commented about not having any special talents, he turned back to her and raised an eyebrow. "oh? i bet that's not true. besides, you can't be a worse singer than our drummer, Lex." even the thought of hearing the latino boy sing made ben want to laugh out loud. as it was, ben was actually skilled in many artistic areas. in fact, he wrote most of the music the band performed, he wasn't bad at drawing, and he'd picked up photography the first day he'd lived in colorado. the camera had been a peace offering from apologetic parents and he'd certainly made the most of it. before he could really think about anything else though, she'd grabbed his sunglasses off the bed and was wearing them atop her own head. benjamin found himself smiling at the site. why was she so familiar? surely he would've remembered meeting someone like her? "looking pretty good, there," he said coolly, his voice sexy and natural.

he listened as she recounted a summery of her youth. "a big family, huh..." he mumbled. everything she said seemed to lead to another piece of the puzzle in his mind. again, though, he was torn from the thought as she jumped to another subject. "i'm pretty hard to embarrass, myself," he admitted, turning to his open suitcase again. he hadn't been truly embarrassed since he was a little kid and despite his seemingly quiet nature, he was quite the trickster himself. his band mates never could seem to pull one over on him.

when she asked about the band name, he smiled again. somewhere in one of his boxes was the first record he and his band had made. "we call ourselves tsunami," he said nonchalantly, abandoning his suitcase once again to turn back and look into her pretty face with amusement. "i doubt you've heard of us, we're still working on our big break. hence the change in scenery, i mentioned." he extended his arms, gesturing to the apartment around him. "but yeah, i can get you tickets some time. you can come here us play and meet the guys."

when her phone went off and she broke the eye contact they'd had, ben found himself a bit unsure of what to do for a moment. he was about to turn back to give his suitcase one more go when gasped and started giggling and squealing. turning towards her again, he raised a light eyebrow in curiosity. the other eyebrow joined it when she mentioned a plus one. it wasn't hard to determine who she was talking about when she mentioned his tattoos and he found himself chuckling and shaking his head. so she thought he was cute... well, that would explain some of the staring he'd been getting since she'd opened the door.

"a bonfire sounds awesome to me," he said, not even concerned in the slightest about meeting new people. "i'll just have to ring up the guys and make sure they're all up for it. we could do for some promo in a new place. where and when is this bonfire?" his eyes were suddenly lit with the excitement of performing. it was a huge statement to his character that even the idea of getting in front of a crowd filled him to the brink with energy. pulling out his own phone, he opened the most recent group chat between the guys and shot a message through. within moments, the whole crew was on board. being swallowed up in the moment, ben pushed the nagging feeling of familiarity for his new roommate to the back of his mind. there would be plenty of time to figure that out later, but for now, he had some work to do.

heather was pleasantly surprised at benjamin's enthusiasm to accompany her to the party. she assumed it was more about his career and social life than being with her but she still took his excitement as a compliment aimed toward her. "lucky for you because it's actually at santa monica. that means we could go have some drunk fun on the pier after we're all done singing our hearts out." she wouldn't be able to handle herself once the liquor came into the equation. when she was intoxicated she was somehow worse than herself sober. sober heather was swift and paid attention to careful details. heather who imbibed far too many shots was clumsy and sloppy. she made a mental note to only have one drink for ben's sake. she'd hate to make an awful impression on her new friend.

"tara said to be there around sundown. pretty early in my opinion but hey who knows how long we'll be there? make sure to polish your guitar. you wanna look your best tonight! we should wear matching salmon suits! do i even have a salmon suit? wait... do i have a fish suit in general? i need to get one." her sentence broke into a mumble, averting her eyes to her bare feet while she murmured about a poisson costume. "i'm going to get ready. we only have about five hours to get ready. it'll take a bit to get to santa monica and with the traffic around there it'll only to our delay. come join me in the shower if you get lonely." she purred, shooting him a small wink before a playful laugh rang around the room. her flirtatious advances were nothing more than a tease to simply interest the man. she wasn't sure if she wanted to pursue the man that would be living with her. she saw no harm in a bit of fun, though.

heather exited the room, heading into the kitchen to grip her glass of sweetened tea. she scarfed down half of the liquid until she felt there was enough to toss out. like her lackadaisical self she emptied her drink into the sink, leaving the glass behind to lock herself in their shared bathroom. she wouldn't be appearing for fresh air for the next hour at the least.

    so freaking excited~

also, just found out my best friend is having a baby and i'm so freaking excited and hysterical and agh! sorry, just had to share ^_^

    ic:
a drunken night on the beach, playing with his band to potential hundreds, and getting to know his new roommate all sounded like the perfect night to the 19 year old musician. it had been a while since he'd gotten black out drunk and he was actually looking forward to the idea of losing his mind a bit. ben smiled a sly grin as she teasingly invited him to join her in the shower. the mere thought sent his mind wandering to places it shouldn't be and he had to mentally shake himself to awaken from the idea. "enjoy your shower," he said coolly, running a hand through his quiff as she headed towards the door. "i'll unpack until it's my turn." this one, he could already tell, was going to be a whole heap of trouble.

    --

the beach was more crowded than benjamin had expected, but that just meant more people would be there to hear tsunami's california debut. he could already feel the excitement pounding in his veins. he was so ready to get up and rock the santa monica pier.

walking over to the band van, owned by their drummer, lex, ben took around, his height giving him a rather good view of the crowd. releasing a low whistle, he turned back to the guys and grinned. "this is going to be awesome," he said, struggling to keep control of his emotions. the guys, he could tell, were getting pretty antsy as well. jack, the bass player was messing with his shoulder length blonde hair, trying to get his kurt cobain look just right. antony, the keyboardist was helping lex unload the equipment in the back of the van. antony was the youngest, and newest addition to tsunami but the kid had proved himself pretty quickly. he was cute in a kind of boyish way, but it was obvious he was new in the rock business. "looking good antony!" ben called over, grinning at the way the kid stiffened at his name. "lift that drum set a little higher and you might get a cute girl's attention." at that, the boy turned bright red. definitely new to the rock and roll world.

turning back towards the beach, ben took a deep breath. the air was warm around him and a bit muggy from the sea, but he'd dressed accordingly. after his shower, he'd slipped into a pair of loose black jeans and a white tank that would reveal his muscled arms as well as a good deal of his hard chest. with his quiff expertly styled back, he actually looked the part of rock god. he was so ready to perform that jack was forced to move focus from his hair to the lead singer. "dude, calm down. we do this all the time. geez, i would've thought you'd be used to this by now."

ben would never 'get used' to the thrill of performing a first show. none of these people had ever heard of him before, but by the end of the night, they'd be screaming his name. "you don't get it, jackie boy. this is our first cali concert! this is going to be a huge determining factor in the rest of our career. so yeah, i'm a little bit pumped."

"and i'm sure it has nothing to do with that hot piece of eye candy you came with?" the older boy teased, his pale blue eyes staring straight through benjamin in a way not many people could. when ben just grinned, jack shook his head and smiled. "well, best of luck to you, mate. here's to another rockin' performance." grinning as the other boy raised his fore arm, ben lifted his own forearm, connecting their arms at the side of the wrist to the elbow, their hands in fists. jack had been a good friend for a long time and they'd always done the small gesture as a sort of good luck charm.

as jack wandered off, probably to mess with his hair some more, ben stretched a little and looked around for heather. he had split from her when they'd first arrived to come and greet his guys. it had been a while since he'd seen them, since he'd been the last of the group to actually move out to la. he didn't figure she would've gone too far, rather just going to meet up with her friends, but for a few minutes, he couldn't seem to find her in the crowd. shrugging, he figured she'd show up eventually and moved back to the truck to claim his guitar for their first performance.

[center]☆*:・☽ YOU'RE MY RIVER RUN DEEP RUN WILD!
    [center]

the moment heather had arrived she was already scurrying off toward the sandy shore, leaving benjamin to meet with his mates in the nearby parking lot. because it was later in the day the beach itself wasn't too crowded but the pier was packed as usual. the sun had recently set, giving her the cover of night to find her flame. a fire in the distance drew her in like a moth, eyes widening as she grew closer. faces, some familiar and some not, illuminated as they stood around the bonfire. an unmistakable head of brunette hair caught her attention, and soon she was standing beside a pale vixen of the same height. "tara why didn't you tell me you were going to wear your black spongebob shirt? i would have worn my yellow ass shorts for you." she pouted at the lovely girl.

tara raised a perfectly plucked eyebrow, turning her electric azure gaze to her friend. "i only assumed the universe would send you a sign of what to wear. this cosmic energy mumbo jumbo isn't working out lately. i'm going to cut the crap and just text you next time." she smirked, glancing down at the cropped shirt she wore with the sponge plastered right on her chest. she had paired the cut t-shit with a white pencil skirt that hugged her curves. the girls had similar clothing taste, for heather wore a simple black and white pencil minidress that too showed off her figure. not quite the best attire for a beach party albeit they liked to be over the top at times.

"no! believe in the energy and it will believe in you!" heather took tara's forearm, dragging her aside to distance themselves from the crowd of curious eyes. the pair of females usually got stared at when they were together. either because of their charming good looks or because they just performed an act that was borderline illegal. "you have to come meet my new room mate. he's like crazy sexy. if you want him you can have him. that way if you get into a relationship you can move in with us and bunk in my room!" she suddenly gasped at her own brilliant idea. they had wanted to move in together eventually, albeit tara still preferred to live with her parents over becoming independent.

"do you think i wore this spongebob shirt without intentions of getting dicked good tonight?" tara motioned to herself prior to laughing along with heather. she stuck her tongue out as she smiled, biting down gently on her sensitive langue. some people bit the inside of their cheeks but she bit her tongue. "where is he? is he that guy?" she inquired with squinted optics searching the faces in the crowd.

"no he's not on the beach. he's with his band in the parking lot getting set up. they're going to play!" heather squeaked. she took control of tara's hand, dragging the young woman toward the parked cars. "he's the tall blonde one with really cool tattoos. we get to meet his band mates and you get to meet him. it's a win-win!" she chuckled, bouncing along ahead once they had reached the stairs that led to the lot. her blonde head popped up first, a warm smile stuck on her visage after seeing the group of males unpacking their van. "ben!" she called, beckoning for tara to swiftly follow. she approached her novel room mate, clasping her hands behind her back politely. "this is my best friend, tara. she thinks you're super hot and she wants to get married. well... maybe not get married but she wants to live in your closet and watch you undress."

"heather you're actually the worst person i've ever met." tara laughed, mostly out of embarrassment for what had been said. "although hiding and watching would be fun i'd much prefer undressing him with my own hands." as she smiled she bit her tongue once again, sending benjamin an almost apologetic glance. "it's nice to meet you. i haven't gotten to hear much about you other than how delightful and attractive you are."

"benny boo! introduce us to your friends now!" heather wiggled her fingers as a greeting toward the other men.

he heard her a moment before he saw her and a grin slowly spread across his face. turning around, ben allowed his caramel-colored irises to come to focus on the pierce form of his new roommate. he'd noticed her outfit when they'd left the apartment, ut it was a completely different experience on the beach, in the light of the setting sun. with the way the light outlined her sharp figure, he couldn't help but imagine how beautiful she would be in a picture. they'd have to do a photoshoot some time. it wasn't just something about her, but literally every aspect of her was appealing to his artistic nature, distracting him immensely. but then, he realized she wasn't alone and turned to her friend.

the brunette, also considerably shorter than the 6'3 guitarist, was pretty to say the least. she was pretty and polished and obviously ready to stun any guy that happened to glance in her direction. but, from the way she was dressed, the black top and white skirt showing off her knock out body to the way she was flirting with him so openly after having only just met, he'd be willing to bet she was a heart-breaker. but then again, he'd done his fair share of heart breaking so he couldn't judge. when heather proceeded to announce their inevitable marriage, and as well as how tara thought he was hot and wanted to creepily watch him get naked, he actually threw his head back in a deep, sexy laugh.

most guys would feel insecure, being looked up and down by a couple of hot chics like heather and tara, but ben wasn't most guys. he knew he was hot, though he didn't necessarily act like he knew it. when she mentioned wanting to have a go at him herself, rather than just watching, he popped a cocky eyebrow and stepped closer, teasing her with an extra dial of sexy. "we may just have to explore that as an option," he said, his brown eyes staring intently into her's. after a second, though, he dropped the act and grinned, looking normal again. ben had always enjoyed messing with girls and he'd always been attracted to those who could take as much as they gave. people like that were simply more fun to deal with. chuckling a little, he grinned and extended his hand for her to shake. "i'm ben, though i guess you already knew that. it's nice to meet you." when she commented on his looks, he glanced at heather with a curious brow arch but ended up just chuckling again. "well, i can't say i've heard that much about you either, except that i would like you when i met you. i guess that makes us even. though, i can't say i'm disappointed so far."

ben had always been a charmer, whether it be the teenage girls at church or the cute girl on the playground in third grade, he'd always had this sort of magnetism that seemed to just drive people crazy. his mother had once told him that he could've charmed his way out of murder if he wanted to and, though he hadn't gone quite that far, his charisma had served him well over the years.

when heather interjected again, however, the 19 year old felt the ground shift under his feet. for a moment, he felt like he'd been unceremoniously shoved into a green glass bottle and thrown out to sea, like the note of a long lost sailor floating endlessly in stormy waters. all of a sudden, a lot more things made sense and his stomach twisted a bit at the idea that he might be right. he suddenly knew where he recognized her from - at least he was pretty sure he did. the love for animals, the big family ties in la, the insane amount of energy she seemed to have... but the name... benny boo... only one person had ever called him that and gotten away with it.

mentally shaking himself, he realized that heather and tara were already heading over towards the band. he thought about mentioning it to her in private, but figured it would be better to wait until they were in a less public place. they hadn't seen each other in years and his leave had been a bit abrupt so he wasn't sure how she would take the news. instead, he pushed the thought to the back of his mind and walked over to join them where the guys were just finishing up unloading.

"hey mates," ben called, coming up beside heather, trying not to look at her in the moment. when the three other boys walked over, he couldn't help but grin. they looked like rockstars, and once again, the excitement of the show they were about to perform sent a rush of adrenaline through his veins. "boys, meet tara and heather," he said, gesturing to each of them respectively. "heather's my new roommate and tara's her best friend, so y'all treat them right, yeah?" jack was the first to step up, taking tara's hand in his own and raising it to place a gentle kiss on the back. straightening up, he grinned. "nice to meet you ladies, my name's jared jacob's, but everyone just calls me jack. thanks for inviting us out here for this. it's gonna be a good night." following is lead, lex and antony stepped up together. lex seemed confident enough as he shook hands with both girls. to terra, he grinned. "thanks for taking ol' benji off our hands. we were all nervous he was going to be moving in with us." with a hearty laugh, he winked at her and headed off to finish up any last minute details to the set. that left antony. "um... hi. i'm antony, i play keyboard. nice to meet you..." ben couldn't help but laugh a little at the kid's awkwardness.

"antony's the newest member of tsunami," he explained, slinging a heavy arm over the smaller boy's shoulder. "he's still getting used to the rockstar life. generally he's not this quiet. kid could talk your ear off if you let him, like an annoying little brother." he began ruffling the kid's hair and antony quickly shrugged him off and slugged him playfully in the arm before politely saying his goodbye and joining lex with the equipment. "and that's the guys," ben said once antony was out of ear shot. "sorry that was such a brief encounter. they'll be a bit more social when the drinking starts."

    1. Jack, 2. Lex, 3. Antony

believe it or not tara truly was not the heartbreaker of the pair. in fact, neither of them sought to hurt anyone. tara was more of the homewrecker who loved things she could not have. she was a thief not an assassin. she was surprisingly delighted by jack's regal approach, observing with curious optics as he kissed the back of her hand. immediately a giggle left her soft lips, a sheepish smirk lighting the child-like features of her face. "enchante monsieur. vous êtes très charmant." she purred in french, batting her eyelashes at him playfully. it was then that lex turned to her as well, shaking the hand that hadn't been blessed with a kiss. she nodded politely toward his words, unable to strike up another conversation before he had disappeared.

tara was like a lightning rod in some unnatural electric storm. the way she sucked up attention like no other was something heather had come to terms with. although each man was kind it was tara who held their further intrigue... minus antony, of course, who simply wanted to leave the awkward bubble he created. heather rolled her eyes, folding her arms across her chest while a gentle smile quirked her mouth upward. as quickly as they had come they all left to finish preparing their equipment. she turned to benjamin for the explanation, both eyebrows raising as he spoke. "i bet they're stoked to play. people from the pier are sure to be crowding you. let's hope your music is as good as you, sugar cube." heather gave his chest a small pat, turning to tara for further business.

"should we bring these poor blokes some drinks?" she tilted her head slightly to the right.

"well of course. they can't sing without proper throat lubrication." tara chuckled, her agreement a little too swift for comfort. she'd prefer to pass out in the street before the night ended. she'd also prefer to pass out alongside one of these men. she turned on her heel in sync with heather, walking silently beside her friend until they were out of view from benjamin. "i want the cutie with the tattoos!" she exclaimed out of her excitement, a large grin greeting heather as she turned to face the girl.

"i'm sorry -- which one? they like all have tattoos." heather laughed, running a lazy hand through her blonde mane.

"hmmm... i can't decide. i guess all of them! i've never been with that many guys at once but there's a first for everything!"

"nonsense. you're being shellfish again, mr. krabs. leave one for me." heather nudged tara sharply, taking a few steps ahead with her chin lifted upward in a distasteful reaction. the pair was greeted by a few of their mutual friends as they returned to the bonfire. she immediately gravitated toward an ice box that held a variety of alcohol. she picked up three wine coolers in multiple flavors, and tara was close behind with three cans of beer. she wasn't sure what tsunami would prefer, therefore she saw it fit to bring some variety. personally she held a preference for pretty drinks of hard liquor mixed with soda.

it only took a few short minutes for the girls to return to the band's van with enough alcohol to share. "are you guys done setting up? chug these down before you go on." she offered them all a smile, extending a hand to ben that gripped one of the wine coolers. "or did you prefer beer? i wasn't sure what everyone liked so i got what i like."

tara broke from heather's side in order to approach jack. "here you go! grade a poison specially for you my slimy little mole rat. you know i'm really excited to see you guys play. normally i'd go for drummer boy over there but i trust you could keep a beat just as well." she flashed him a playful wink prior to giggling, slipping past him to continue passing around the cans of beer.

the taller male grinned a bit as the boys went to gather around the equipment before going back to focusing on what heather was saying. he shook his head and looked out over the beach. "we're pretty pumped up. and, i mean, i'm a bit biased, but i'd say we're pretty good. guess you ladies'll just have to wait and see for yourselves." with a wink, he turned and headed back to the boys, just as the girls were walking the other way. once he arrived, he was not surprised to find the guys talking about tara and heather.

"how on earth did benny boy score living with one of them and i'm stuck living with you sorry blokes?" it was jack's voice complaining loud as ever. ben hung back for a moment to listen with amusement. "i mean, come on. you've got to know those two are gonna get in trouble... and add in that pretty brunette? owie!" the others laughed in agreement.

"they seemed real nice," antony's voice contributed softly and ben found himself grinning despite the strong urge to roll his eyes. the kid was so innocent and pure. that would change over time, but it was nice to see the sweetness hadn't left him yet.

"antony, antony, antony. listen to me." ben could practically see jack putting his hand on the younger boy's shoulder like a master to a pupil. "girls like that are more than just real nice. girls like that are a bit dangerous, but a lot of fun. Like fire. they're beautiful to watch at first, but if it gets even slightly out of control, boom. you're burned." the analogy made ben a bit sick to his stomach. he'd had a rough go with fire and even just talking about the destructive force made his skin crawl. still, he managed to push past it to continue listening.

jack could be heard moving away from antony again and ben figured he was lighting a smoke. ben, himself, had kicked the habit a few years earlier, but it seemed to calm jack down when he got antsy. "well, boys, whatever happens tonight... i won't remember a bit of it. so, live long, prosper, do whatever you want, i really don't care."

ben chose this as his cue to come around the side of the van, slow clapping. a look of pure satisfaction crossed his face as jack jumped slightly. "that's the most motivational speech i've ever heard from you, mate. knew you had it in you."

jack straightened and brushed himself off, casting the singer a sideways glance. "oh, shut up you big oaf." the older man said, focusing on his cigarette. right about that time, the girls came back around the side of the van, a small variety of drinks in hand. "oh? the goddesses come bearing gifts!" jack perked up, his cigarette hanging out of the corner of his mouth as he spotted the alcohol. he graciously accepted one of the beer cans, extinguishing his smoke as he took the first swig. "mmm, that's the stuff. a good few more of these and i'll be well on my way to some bad decisions." he grinned as antony accepted a beer as well and lex went for one of the wine coolers.

ben chuckled and leaned his back against the van as the girls passed around the drinks. when heather brought him his, he accepted the wine cooler with a nod of thanks. "appreciate it," he said with a grin, popping the cap and taking a swig of his own. when he brought it back down, he made a hissing sound of refreshment and watched the guys. "we should be ready to perform now, if everyone's ready," he said looking around at the guys. as soon as everyone finished their drinks, they'd be ready to make their entrance.

as ben was distracted, talking to heather and watching the way her body moved in the tight little dress. a memory flashed back to him for a moment, scolding him for thinking that way about her. for a moment, his brow creased and he chugged a bit more of his booze. he would be needing a lot more of this tonight.

jack, who was drinking his beer and idly plucking at the strings of his bass, noticed tara coming closer again, making her rounds, he supposed. at her drummer comment, he raise an eyebrow and shook his blonde hair away from his face a little. "oh baby... i can keep a beat alright... i can keep multiple beats... multiple times in a row... you'd love it..." the rough blonde was a bit scrawnier than ben, but he was his own kind of sexy. his voice held small hints of a foreign accent, irish, maybe, even he wasn't really sure. tattoos covered his arms as well, though not quite as extravagant as the sleeves that ben and lex had.

before anyone could get more distracted, ben finished off his drink and set the bottle in the back of the van, pushing off and grabbing his guitar in anticipation. "alright, boys, play time will still be here when we're done. it's time to rock this beach." the three other guys cheered, raising their drinks before getting ready. lex was already sitting at the drum set and jack's bass hung over his shoulder as he chatted it up with tara. antony, who'd been sitting on a log next to lex, stood and walked over to his keyboard, abandoning his beer for the moment. ben grinned. it was time.
