in life, everyone believed that everyone needed a reason for what they did, how they acted, how they perceived themselves and the world and why they chose to believe in what they did, however, there wasn't one definite moment that oleanderpaw could pinpoint that would explain why it was utterly and completely angry at the world. they couldn't give you a reason why they hated their father, his siblings, itself, the clan - nothing, there was simply nothing that ollie could give you because they just didn't know. they had always thought themselves to just be a negative person but... did they have a reason for being negative? not one they could give, at least. they'd lived a good life, been raised and fed by the nicest queens their father was around doing whatever the hell he pleased, they had family, they were healthy and they just didn't understand why everything around them made it so angry all the time. it wasn't... natural and it didn't have a reason for what it did but it wasn't like they really cared enough to try and figure out why it thought like it did - didn't care much for thinking about itself, that only brought up thoughts it would rather keep buried beneath the ever present layer of hate and anger.

blinking softly they lifted their head from their paws to look around the cramped apprentice's den, it wasn't sure if any of the other apprentices were even awake yet - likely a few had gone out on the dawn patrol but oleander didn't really care enough to figure out exactly which apprentices those had been. they let out a low huff before moving to lift themselves onto their paws, they didn't know why the were up so early but it didn't really want to know and it was too late to try and go back to sleep because it would only get yelled at later if they slept too long. they pushed through the entrance of the tree den, blinking rapidly as the morning sun nearly blinded them and forced them to narrow their eyes considerably until their crossed eyes could properly make out what exactly he was seeing. ah, yes... the dilemma of his terribly and irreversibly crossed eyes a part of them most would consider to be some kind of unique difference but one that ollie could only see as a goddamn nuisance - maybe it didn't affect their vision constantly but it was getting freaking tired of being unable to sense where the hell a branch ended and falling to the ground. they may be able to see perfectly but there were times when their depth perception completely screwed them over and they looked like an idiot.

slowly everything came into focus and as they made out the twisting of the tree they were able to, carefully, clamber their way down the tree to the ground below. they gave an irritated huff as they landed, shaking their paws slightly as they continued to ache with the feeling of exhaustion; ollie was a grumpy individual and even more so when it came to mornings as the ache of their still sleeping limbs, the annoying chirp of the birds, and the idiocy that seemed to run through the sleep riddled mind always drove him into a sort of madness... a madness with a short fuse and a piss poor attitude, that is. they knew some knew to steer clear of the apprentice in the morning, least they bare witness to the aggravated words and actions that the young on was capable or starting drama too early for the early hours. most left him alone in general, too tired of his angry and pessimistic nature to even try to talk to it anymore - having long given up on trying to interact with the apprentice, but it was okay, after all this time ollie sort of understood what they did what they did. if it could, it wouldn't hang around itself as well.

letting out a loud yawn, oleanderpaw clamped his jaw shut as he moved towards the fresh-kill pile, hoping to get breakfast before it had to deal with anyone who was stupid enough to try and be friendly to someone who didn't want to be social. they shifted their crossed eyes to look over the camp, not many were up yet which was understandable and, honestly, it was a relief for the young feline - less people to confront, less people to annoy them, less people to tell it what it could and could not do and less people trying to pretend they actually gave two shits about it. oh look at them, the sun had barely risen and they were pulling the "everyone's fake, they all hate me, they're just pretending to care because that's what they have to do" card - this must be a new record for him, i suppose some kind of congratulations was in order. they let out a little huffed laugh before snatching a small sparrow from the pile and making their way to a rather closed off area of camp to enjoy their bird in peace; by now, it was sure most of the warriors would be waking up along with some of the apprentices and this peaceful morning [minus those birds who won't shut the hell up] would be ruined by the loud chatter of fake happiness that they were sure ran throughout skyclan like a plague.

they dropped to the ground with a loud thump before allowing themselves to dig into the meat that the bird provided; it was cold and a little disgusting which must have meant it was older and had been sitting out a little longer than the others... was that just fantastic and if ollie wasn't in a bad mood before the hardened flavor of the bird sure brought it down and deeper into the ground. it's face twisted up in a sour snarl as they pushed the bird away and pressing their head down into their paws as they watched the life around skyclan's camp slowly begin bustling with the waking of the other members. it hurt a little to see everyone greet and talk to each other like they were all friends, needless to say ollie may be a little bit of a hypocrite for both hating and adoring the idea of being able to so easily talk to others as if they weren't afraid, annoyed, or had generally given up on you; hell, even oleanderpaw's last mentor had quit and left the apprentice out on the curb to figure out how to deal with things on his own. it was probably well deserved but the warrior had been a childish brat who had gotten way too sensitive way too quickly - it wasn't it's fault that they hadn't been able to put up with a couple of insults, maybe they hadn't been prepared to be a warrior in the first place if a couple of words from an angry apprentice had sent them crying into the warriors den like a kitten. their eyes narrowed at the groups before turning away as if in disgust as they slowly pushed itself into a sitting position. "idiots." it mumbled under it's breath, uncaring how close it sat to a few groups; they could yell and moan all they wanted... didn't mean ollie wouldn't continue to call them bloody idiots.

  • "Oh really who are you calling a mouse brain, kid." Her voice would float out of her maw almost instantly, purple eyes blinking lazily as she laid on a nearby root from one of the many tree's around camp. The female was taking an afternoon cat nap so to speak, watching the camp, but also dozing off every few minutes for a little while. Shockingly? This time the warrior was not even really sleep, she was just giving herself a slight reprieve for the moment. Though secretly this was because she had pushed herself a little too hard and the massive coyote scars on her flank had started to throb with pain, making both breathing and movement difficult. However the warrior would be damned if she admitted to the pain she was in right now! Foxy could only think of how she would have to be a bit more careful in the future to not strain her flanks so much and cause the aging marks to flare up.

    Wasppaw of Skyclan

Whether he was a warrior’s apprentice or a medicine cat’s, Wasppaw was an early bird. Stretching out his thick, fluffy cream legs, the apprentice yawned, a smile of bliss filling his maw once he clapped his jaws shut. Blinking open his eyes after a peaceful, dreamless sleep, Wasppaw was almost startled when he discovered his den to be empty...before promptly chuckling as he recalled his new rank. It was still taking a while to get used to the lack of warm, fellow apprentice bodies pressing against and around him. He couldn’t lie ; he rather missed it. But hey, it wasn’t too bad - the earthy scent of the herbs and berries around him was certainly a pleasant welcome in the morning.
After a quick glance around, Wasppaw determined he’d surprise a possibly sleeping Audanine with breakfast, so he rose to his paws, shook out clinging bits of moss from his long fur, then headed out into the open camp. Squinting against the faint light, the young tom looked around at the partially empty clearing. Not an unusual sight for such an early time. Save for the birdsong and the chatting of the few cats who were awake, it was a peacefully quiet morning. Sucking in a breath of fresh air, and letting it out in a content sigh, the apprentice nodded the last of his wariness from his head and headed for the prey pile.
As he walked, he debated what exactly Audanine might like. Though he was now the medicine cat’s apprentice, he didn’t really know much about the older maine coon. He was eager to get to know the other, but knew it would probably take some time, as Audanine held an air of distance about him. Like he held a paw in a world no one could possibly understand… Still, that didn’t scare Wasppaw. He was determined to be everyone’s friend, or in the very least, show them that a friendship would always be available if they ever needed someone. Yes, Wasppaw would not turn anyone away, no matter how angry at the world or hopelessly broken someone could be…
    And speaking of which -
Wasppaw paused as he reached the prey pile, perking his ears at Foxdancer’s tired voice a rather distance away. It was far, sure, but with the camp being as quiet as it was, it wouldn’t be too hard to hear a pin drop. Curious, as he heard the slang ‘mouse brain’ in Skyclan’s designated grump’s words, Wasppaw was rather afraid someone had upset her. Still, he couldn’t see who exactly she was talking to, not without squinting hard at the shadows…
Oleanderpaw! He recongnized his den...or, well, old den mate. He knew Ollie could be a hard rock to aproach, let alone interact with, but as mentioned before, Wasppaw wasn’t shy to a challenge - especially if it meant possibly cheering someone up. Yes, to Wasppaw, Ollie seemed rather lonely, in his own little angry way. He felt a stab of shame suddenly, feeling bad that he’d never taken the time to try and talk to the feline.

Glancing at the medicine den, Wasppaw decided he’d get Audanine his breakfast later, seeing as he had time on his paws, he wanted to make sure nothing wrong was going on between Foxdancer and the troubled kid.
Trotting over to the two, Wasppaw smiled pleasantly, “Good morning, you two~” he purred warmly, sitting down a polite distance from both and wrapping his tail over his paws. His gaze rested on Ollie as he asked, “I hope im not inturrupting anything…” he said with a sheepish rub behind his head.

  • [center][fancypost=borderwidth; width: 400px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; line-height: 12px; font-size: 7pt]"you, obviously." would be shot back as soon as the words left her mouth, bright eyes turning to cast a vicious glare at the older warrior. she wasn't sure if foxdancer had meant it in an insulting way or if it had been play but ollie was relatively pissed off at the moment and they didn't exactly have the energy to try and figure if it was easy teasing or true snappishness. "try and keep up." it growled out before turning away from her, irritation burning in their chest as their face shifted into a fixed snarl; it was too early to get into a fight but, then again, they hadn't wanted company and it seems that's what they had gotten - seems those dead jerks in wherever were certainly out to get them, ha, what did they want? a medal for being dead and screwing around with the live of the living? good for them because they were sure doing a great job at it, god, even the dead were beginning to piss them off and what was it? just passed sunrise? someone should start keeping record for the amount of times oleanderpaw wished the world would explode and kill everyone on it... maybe if they counted in fresh-kill they'd get food that didn't taste like mud, oh that'd be grand.

their eyes shifted up when the sound of another voice that was seemingly directed at them - the white feline let out a load groan as they threw their head back in what was obviously annoyance as the newly appointed medicine cat's overly excited persona greeted them. oh the fox could anyone be so chirpy in the morning when there was obviously nothing to be done and the sting of sleep still burned at the back of your eyes. they brought their head back up as they stared at their former den mate; they couldn't understand why anyone would want to be a medicine cat, there wasn't anything special about it and it only meant you had to waste your whole life giving to others who took you for granted, oh yes, ollie would make an utterly terrible medicine cat but it supposed that was one of the main reasons they weren't the apprentice to the current medicine cat. it seemed like a lonely life and while they understood that with immense knowledge they really didn't want to make it any worse than it already was. maybe if they could hear what wasppaw had said about them being lonely... maybe they would have agreed but it's not like it mattered now or ever really. they worked better on their own, their anger ensured that they stayed separate from everyone and over the moons they had been alive they had come to accept the fact that, yeah, they were going to have their crushing emptiness in their chest for the rest of their life and they were okay with it.

"i hate mornings." they deadpanned, letting their eyes meet wasppaw's - their crossed eyes connecting briefly before shifting away to look back over the camp. "you were only interrupting foxdancer's stupid question, thanks for that." it was a little bit sarcastic and a little bit true because they weren't ready to deal with the stupidity of the warrior who thought she knew better; maybe wasppaw's happy attitude ground on their nerves but at least they were better than the pathetic excuse for a warrior beside them. they blinked a few times before their expression soured again, confused why the other was still around. could no one take a freaking hint in this clan? "what do you want?"

    Wasppaw of Skyclan

Wasppaw was more immune to Oleanderpaw's fury than a brick wall. Unperturbed by their groan, Wasppaw's smile remained strong and unwavering even as they gave him a bitter answer to his greeting. 'Course, to Wasppaw, it wasn't bitter - it was honest. Better to say your day was going crummy than to lie about it being great, right? Good way to vent, and venting was a great step to healing!
"I dont blame you, it sucks waking up so early, huh?" the apprentice chuckled, his expression as positive and easy going as ever, "It took me a long time to get used to waking up early, but even then I always crash right after training" he hesitated, then sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. Probobly too much information...He shot Foxdancer a embarrassed look, hoping the experienced warrior didn't look down on him for being so quick to pass out after a day's work.

Glancing back at the apprentice, Wasppaw beamed at the 'thanks', even if it was...rather...sarcastic...oh well! Though he, felt bad about getting so cheerful at Foxdancer's expense. He was sure her question wasn't 'stupid'...but, opinions were opinions, and Oleanderpaw was allowed to them as much as anyone. As harsh as they may be, Wasppaw would not be swayed!
"What do I -uh - I dunno, I thought maybe I could just visit, its morning so the medicine den is slow, and Audanine is asleep right now..." he glanced at Foxdancer and back at Oleanderpaw, an idea coming to mind, then, "Maybe you two would like to go herb hunting with me?" he offered, eyes shinning with excitement.

  • [center][fancypost=borderwidth; width: 400px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; line-height: 12px; font-size: 7pt]it would be a lie that the other continued to talk like oleanderpaw's words hadn't affected them at all - like whatever they had said went straight through them and the other went on talking as if ollie's words had been friendly and inviting. they blinked a few times as she properly tried to figure what exactly was going on, they couldn't figure if he was simply ignoring her negative attitude or if he was just trying to take the higher ground to look like the better person, either way, it pissed them off [surprise, surprise]. it rolled it's eyes before snorting and interrupting them as they spoke. "i hate mornings because everyone is annoying and they can't take a hint when someone wants to be left alone." they said roughly, hoping the other took the hint and at least stopped trying to make pleasantry when the only thing it wanted to do right now was fight and argue. their sour face remained as the other continued like they hadn't heard anything ollie had just said and while it was making their skin crawl it was sort of... nice to have someone that isn't overly sensitive persistently trying to talk to them. so they relented and let the other apprentice talk, keeping their mouth shut but leaving their irritated face plastered on as they waited for him to finally finish.

slowly as wasp continued to ramble on about who knows what, and beamed like ollie had just given them some kind of compliment - it put it on edge and had it believing that the other must be simply mad if he continued to speak like they were close friends. they grew bored when the other began talking about their mentor, someone they'd never really cared to meet and hoped to never talk to within their life time. they spaced out as the other continued to talk, however, it was when the other asked them to go out and do something for them when ollie snapped back into consciousness. "no." however, the strange feeling after shocked them and rattled them a little as they stared at the other apprentice. they weren't used to this feeling and she scrunched her nose up slightly before letting out a loud sigh and bringing a paw up to rub at their eyes. "fine, whatever, why not."
