|Your entire body shakes and sways; you barely have the strength to stand. Your fur whips around you as you stare over the edge of the precipice, the wind cruelly taunting you. Everything below you is so small that it seems unreal. No matter how many times you follow this path, your mind can't escape the screaming and howling of the chasm below you. But you reluctantly pull your attention away from the chasm, looking to the small path that leads down the side of an otherwise flat cliff. You allow your paws to carry you down that path, walking in a single-file line, leading the terrified cats behind you.
The walk down this rocky path seemed to take an eternity. When you finally reached your destination - a small cave opening in the side of the cliff wall - you lead the rest of your patrol inside. The cave is freezing, but a reluctant safe haven from the howling wind outside. You head deeper into the cave; although it is pitch-black, the path you follow has been etched into your heart just as powerfully as it has been etched into the stone around you.
Finally, as the path starts to feel less dry, spattered with stagnant puddles of water, your path opens up into a cavern. This is your favorite part of the journey; the cavern is filled with soft blue lights, which scare away the darkness of the lonely path you followed before. But this is not the end of your journey. On the other side of the cavern is a small tunnel filled with water. You take a calm breath, slowly step into the water, and dive. This is the last challenge of your journey; at the end of the tunnel, you are home.
Welcome to The Chasm!
The cats in this roleplay live in a cave that has two entrances: near the top of the chasm (as described in the story) and at the bottom of the chasm.
The bottom entrance is safer than the top entrance, and it starts at the very bottom of the chasm. The bottom entrance simply follows a lazy river that has carved its way through the cliff. The lazy river leads directly to the clan's base.
The clan's base is a large cavern, filled with harmless, bio-luminescent bacteria as well as small ponds of water. Dens are made of materials which have been dragged into the cavern from the outside.
The Chasm has the same basic hierarchy as warrior clans (leader, deputy, etc.) except that they also have a seer and seer's apprentice, which will be explained later. The Chasm also has slightly different traditions and rules from clan cats.
The Chasm's Hierarchy
These are all of the positions in The Chasm, listed from highest ranking to lowest ranking.
When apprentices reach a year of age, they have one last trial to face before they become a warrior: finding their way to the top of the cliff face. This is not the same path that a single patrol goes through every day; this is a path so dangerous that it is always blocked by a rock to keep curious kittens out. With the passing of every year, it becomes exceedingly more dangerous. Filled with slippery, slimy puddles of water; pitch-black half of the way through it; liable to collapse at the slightest sound or a wrong step; absolutely devoid of life. The journey takes two days: a day to travel through the cave and reach the outside... and a day to travel back through it and return home. Many apprentices don't even make it to the end of the first day.

Here is the leader's form, which I have slightly edited to better include an image.
Age: 4 years
Appearance: Onyx is a strange looking cat - he almost looks like an alien. With a long, skinny neck, and an oddly shaped head, his eyes and his ears look much too large for him. His black-brown fur is very soft, but more like fuzz than a true coat. His has a very light, lithe body, which accounts for the grace with which he carries himself. A truly strange appearance for a leader, as he looks like he could break easily, but his personality and loyalty to The Chasm make up for his appearance.
Personality: Onyx's personality is strange, but fitting, for a leader. He gives off an aura of serenity, and he always appears to be composed. His words are very well chosen, and he never speaks without need. He is very reasonable but firm, and he will not be pushed around by another cat. Although those pure of heart need never fear him, those who have done wrong should and will fear him, despite the mercy that he consistently shows.
Despite all of this, he very playful; in fact, when he is not on duty, he loves to spend his free time with the kittens. He also maintains very positive and reassuring relationships with his clanmates - he loves to hear what everyone has to say. He is almost always seen with a chipper mood, and it is uncommon (and alarming) to see him in a bad mood. It is common for him to use humor to appeal to other cats.
Although he carries a deep respect for The Chasm's traditions, he does not always follow them. After all, rules were made to be broken, right?
History: Onyx was born into The Chasm, but he always stood out among the other cats, and for more than just his appearance. His quick wit and unusual intelligence stood out at a young age, and his kind personality just made other cats in the clan even more intrigued by him. Even at a young age, everyone said that he would be their leader one day, and they were right. Using his talent for charming other cats, he made it, despite his lack of impressive physical power.
;;tracking. are we allowed to reserve spots yet? if so, i'd like to reserve medic.
yep, i'll reserve the medic for you!
Track; Could I reserved medic apprentice?
sure! reserving now.
Can I reserve deputy? If not warrior is fine with me.
ugh sorry for double posting
i'll reserve deputy now!
thanks for tracking! <3 glad to see there's interest in my clan!
- Age: 4 years
- Position: Deputy
- Appearance: She is a jet black she-cat with short fur. Her eyes are a bright almost toxic green color. Her build is medium size musuclar build with long limbs. She tends to carry herself gracefully, however as a kit she was rather clumsy. She tends to think it was and is because of her long legs and tail.
- History: Spider's parents Grass and Web thought she wouldn't make it to be a warrior. Her long limbs and big paws made her very clumbsy and uncoordinated as a kit. Once she came of age for her apprentice test to come she was nervous. Her parents continued to try and help as the day got closer. When it was time Spider felt sickn yet excited. During the journey she had almost fallen twice. Her limbs kept giving her problems all the way there. Then she finally made and returned back to the others. Eventually her body grew as did her knowledge and skills on how to use her body to advantage her. She was soon shocked to find herself as deputy, though she plans to do her very best.
alright, i'll probably make a lot of changes later, but the thread is basically done now!
Age: 2 years and 5 months.
Appearance: sage is a large sized feline. he has a tabby pelt consisting of the colors of chocolate, cinnamon, black and white. his eyes are a dull yellow-green, which sit on his wide face, above his short muzzle with a pink nose. his muzzle, chest and paws are white.
Personality: sage is a more serious cat who likes to get things done. though he may have a serious demeanor, he still is kind-hearted to all cats, ill and injured or not. he is an excellent teacher and excels at being a medic in his tribe. he is loyal and fierce, knowing how to fight from when he was once an apprentice to be a warrior before he changed to medic's apprentice. he learned from his apprenticeship he enjoyed to heal, not harm, which still is with him today. sage has declared to do no harm, unless it is required from his clan.
History: sage was born on a rainy day to the queen river and his father boulder. his father was a seasoned warrior, excited to train his son to become as brave of a warrior as he was. as sage began his apprenticeship, he quickly learned this was not what he wanted. he feared to tell anyone, as he felt as if his father would shame him for not following him in his footsteps. after a hunting accident, sage wound up in the medic's den, where he watched the medic heal and instantly knew what he wanted to become. soon after that, he told the leader his feelings. the leader, being the kind soul they were, allowed him to become the medic's apprentice. now he is the medic, and couldn't be happier.
