Welcome to the WOTS chat/plotting thread, people! Feel free to discuss any ideas you might have for the main story and character interactions, or just to use this space to chill sometimes ^.^

@suzykururu, in regards to the idea you posted on the sign-up thread, I think that could work! The Hunters would probably want to study the dragons they captured in order to take down the other riders, or force any dragons they capture to fight in arena-style events. You get the picture. The idea about there being a separate sub-species of dragon is also one I like. The Hunters could be trying to create a different kind of dragon that doesn't Bond to a rider, perhaps?

I'm not sure if this should be incorporated into the main thread, with people roleplaying Hunters whenever its necessary, or if it should be its own thing with the two threads crossing over on occasion. Thoughts, anyone?

  • i think that if we used the idea, it would probably work best if there were two threads which crossed over occassionally! i'm glad you like my idea, lol

yes, a different type of dragon would be cool, and it would give people an incentive to play as a monster hunter! i was thinking of wurms because wurms don't have wings or legs so they're best for travelling on the ground and underground. also, i feel like wurms would be very aggressive :0

    this is a wurm:

but wurms might be too limited in abilities so they might not work. usually they're venomous and can burrow underground, but they can't breathe fire or fly. i'll try to think of other kinds of dragons!

  • To be honest wurms might be enough for now - perhaps as the rp progresses other variants could be introduced? If Hunters (or a sub-group of the Hunters) are going to be trying to create + tame their own kind of monster, I doubt the results are going to be as friendly/civilised towards them as the dragons are towards their riders haha

  • lol true. well, wurms could be it for now! and maybe it could be a plot point... perhaps monster hunters didn't have wurms or anything else before now? they could be a totally new thing that the characters have the misfortune to find out about. :p

  • Oh I like that idea suzy. Perhaps they could go and host an attack on a group of the riders while their loading supplies or taking supplies in carts to their stronghold and they bring along a few wurms which ultimately injures the first dragon and rider they attack rather gravely? Just an idea that would make the rp a bit interesting. :3

  • i like your idea! that would suck for the blood-bound, especially if it really mangled the dragon and their rider

also, you just made me realize: if the wurms are constantly buried under the ground, the blood-bound would have to be very careful. they wouldn't be able to attack the hunters without worrying about a surprise attack by wurms! :0

  • It also helps to remove the massive advantage the blood-bound originally had thanks to their dragons+magic. I've been privately drawing up ideas for a few days in regards to solving that problem, but I think the addition of wurms could be part of the solution c:

I'm not sure if I have the time to create a separate thread for the monster hunters at the minute, but I do like the idea of having one. Unless anyone else wishes to do so (I wouldn't mind liaising with someone via pm if anyone was interested in creating a Hunter thread to link with the preexisting blood-bound one), we'll probably first see the wurms in the WOTS thread instead.

  • Depending on what you mean by 'liaising' I might be interesteed in making the Hunters thread!

  • I basically need someone who I can work with to make sure the information (lore, magic mechanics, etc.) match up on both the threads. If you're still interested I could pm you the details?

  • Since a Blood-Bound vs Hunters fight is coming up, I'd like to have some clarification on what the Hunters use to fight dragons, like what does a typical hunting party look like?

  • My apologies for not posting yesterday! Homework went over my head and I wasn't done till maybe 1 AM and that far to late for me to be up. >.>

I have to get up for the bus at about 6 for school so I got very little sleep. I will be posting after I finish with homework today though!

  • @QuickStrike, I don't think the hunters are gonna bring any other creatures of their own to this battle - wurms and lindiworms will probably be introduced when we get the other thread set up. The people in the rp thread at the minute are just your typical bunch of hunters, wielding long bows, swords, etc.

They are a fan of using nasty poisons, which makes having a soul dragon (for their healing abilities), a dark dragon (I'd say they'd be resistant to some poisons, given that their breath is venomous/acidic) or an earth dragon (for their strong natural armour) around very useful. Some hunters might have weapons that can pierce dragon scales, too, though this isn't a common occurrence because the metal required is very rare and difficult to refine.

Sometimes hunters will set up traps for dragons, but typically only in areas that they know well, and for dragons that they can predict the movements of. In the thread at the moment the hunting party probably hasn't had the time to set any up, as they've been following Ailin and Sirona though unknown territory for days now. Hunting parties vary in size, depending on how many dragons and riders are being tracked and hunted.

I hope that answers your question ^.^

    @Anemone_, no rush! I'm pretty busy at the moment too (got mocks for my A2 level exams in a couple of weeks, kill me now haha), so you can expect some slower/shorter replied from me, too ;.;

  • Thanks for the info. Was thinking of having Illium and Hirador attack the hunters and that's how they will meet the Blood-Bound. But wanted to know how more about the hunters first.
