    Genevieve had never been a very active or popular girl at her high school. But, here she was, trying to join their school’s famous women’s soccer team. And failing, mind you. She had already failed to kick the ball into the goal several times, and couldn’t keep the ball bouncing on her knees for more than a second. The only thing she managed to do was pass the running test, and fetch water for the much stronger girls on the team.


    But [your character] was here, and that’s really all that mattered. Genny could care less whether she made the main line-up or just became the water girl, she had to get on the team. For two years now, Genny has been trying to get [your character]’s attention, and all seems to have failed. If she could just join their soccer team, which [your character] is captain of, maybe, just maybe, she’ll start using her eyes and see what's been right in front of her all along.

    Jennet was going through a few papers on her desk. She had been able to figure out who was going to be on the soccer team, and who was less fortunate. Luckily, it wasn't a very hard choice, but she would have to figure out how to tell Genevieve that she was only to be a water girl. She had passed just the running test, and that wasn't enough for any other postion, but at least she was on the team. Despite the reputations of team captains, Jennet was an extremely nice girl. She didn't know how to be mean, and was only mean when protecting her friends and family, and those who she loved.

    Love. It wasn't something she had experienced really, as she was always so busy doing extracurricular actives, and doing a lot of charity work. If she had to guess, she would have guessed that it would be something that just pounced on her, and she wouldn't be able to shake that off. But then again, she didn't really know. Jennet bit her lips, before calling everyone back for announcements. Everyone got in the team since just the right amount tried out.

    Genny held her breath as she sat on the bleachers in the gym with the other girls who had tried out for the team. Compared to her, they were all pretty athletic looking. They even had better athletic gear than her; while the others wore expensive athletic shorts, shoes, and soccer jerseys, she just tied her hair in a messy ponytail, wore a random T-shirt she found in the back of her drawers, and dawned an old pair of yoga pants. She quickly regretted not spending extra money on this, and felt self-conscious immediately.


    Waiting for Jennet felt excruciating. She would be very surprised if she made the team at all, let alone anyone actually important. Maybe this was a bad idea, she thought to herself, glancing around at the other girls. They were all excitedly awaiting their positions, while she seemed to be the only one who felt nervously clammy. At least this is a sign that nobody else had their eye on her, she thought, the only positive of this whole thing. Her heart dropped into the pit of her stomach when Jennet appeared in front of them.

    The captain took a small breath in, before putting on a large smile. "Well, I have some good, and bad news. The good news is, everyone is on the team that tried out. We had just enough people. Bad news is, not everyone got the position that they wanted. Since I'm not very good at breaking bad news to people, I've posted the list in two places, so no one kills each other." The girl said, before she walked over to go and sit down.

    As the other girls scattered to find the lists that had most likely been posted on the school's bulletin board, Genny still sat. She hardly wanted to stand up, let alone try and make through two crowds of soccer players. She decided to wait for a bit; just until everyone had found out their positions already.


    She sighed audibly. At least she made the team. That was only step one of her plan. Step two was supposed to be 'become friends with Jennet' but how in the hell was she supposed to accomplish that? She could barely get anywhere near her, let alone make conversation, without being stupid. She sat there on the bleachers, lost in thought.

    Jennet lifted her head, looking over towards Genevieve. She stood back up, only to go and sit next to her. "Are you alright, Genevieve? That's your name, right?" Jennet giggled slightly. "Of course. I know your name. Why wouldn't i? And hey, at least you're on the team, my dear." Jennet said softly, placing her hand on the other girls thigh, patting it a few times before she stood back up.
    "Do you want to grab a bite to eat, Genevieve? I don't want you to be upset. I'll pay." Jennet said, pulling her hair back, into a pony tail.

    Genny jumped in surprise, as hearing her name being said ripped her from her thoughts. She almost threw up seeing that the one who called her name was none other than Jennet. Why was she speaking to her? Although she would kill for even a casual smile from Jennet from time to time, she wasn't expecting her to be so close. Whatever Jennet said sounded like white noise when she felt her pat her thighs. She could burst into flames right then and there. What did she say? Eat? With her?


    "E-exscuse me, what was that?" She couldn't help but stare as Jennet tied her hair back.

    "You know, eat. Like get some food?" She once again offered, looking down at the girl who was sitting down in front of her. She figured that Genny hadn't heard anything she had said, otherwise she would have said yes. Most people loved to eat with her. It wasn't much, but it was a time to get to know everyone, but this girl made her smile, with how shy and clumsy she was. It was adorbable, and as far as she was concerned, that's all it was. Just cute.

    So she hadn't misheard Jennet. She looked down averting her gaze from the girl. This was her chance, but it was so unexpected. Then again, this kind if thing might never come up again. "I...S-sure. Okay." Her voice sounded and little robotic as she mustered any courage she had, or rather, didn't have.

    "Great! Good to know that you don't hate me for making you the water girl, enough to come and eat some lunch with me." She sighed with relief. She hated the thought of being hated, even though she was hated for being so nice all the time. "Let me just grab my bags, and we can go. Pizza sound good?" She asked. Though she may have been a captain of a sport, she did enjoy her occasional junk food binge.


    Jennet ran to where she had been sitting, and she grabbed her bags, one of which carried her wallet. It was a cute little Leopard printed bag, since she did like Leopard print. Anyone that really knew her, new she one day wanted to work with and have a small baby leopard.

    Genny could almost burst! Was this really happening? Seriously? She looked down at herself to make sure she wasn't too dirty, but realized that she still had on her workout clothes. She regreted not bringing any clean clothes to change into. But it was just lunch, nothing special, she reminded herself. Just lunch.


    She sat for a second, her mind slightly blank. Then she thought, Wait a second...


    Water girl? Seriously? I was that bad?

    "Oh dear. Did I say something wrong?" The girl asked, bitting her thumb slightly. Was it something she said? Did this girl not like her, and wanted her to go away? As she felt the anxiety begin to build up, and began to sort of hyperventilate. She searched through her bag, grabbing her inhaler. She took a puff, and held her breath before she breathed out. Though it was kinda serious to her, some people just looked towards her giggling, and smiling. Some guys as well, who were in her with their sisters, or girlfriends, just thought it was cute. However, she didn't ever think so.


    "Sorry. I do have a bit of anxiety from time to time. It's not often at all, only when I overthink things." Jennet said quietly, trying to just laugh it off. "Well then, let's go. I'd love to get to know you." She wasn't trying to seem like she was hitting on Genevieve or anything, but she loved to get to know others. Especially cute girls, like this one who was sitting in front of her.

    Genny panicked slightly. She had never seen anything like that happen to anyone. "No! No, you didn't! I wasn't trying to upset you!" She felt almost on the verge of tears. She didn't want to do anything wrong, especially when she had gotten so close so fast.


    She looked at little dumbfounded when she pulled out her inhaler and recovered so fast. This was something she'd never known about Jennet; maybe there was more she didn't know than she did know. Its not like she didn't want to know. She smiled slightly trying to seem like she had forgotten about it.


    "A-alright. Really?"

    "Of course! I enjoy people, so why not? And you're pretty cute yourself." The girl said with a smile, before clearing her throat. She never liked the inhaler, since it left an odd taste in her mouth. "Well anyways, let's get going. I want our pizza to be hot and fresh." She said, before turning off and going ahead and making her way to the front entrance/exit.

    Genny could practically feel the steam rise from her face. In reality, she was struggling to hide the redness that plagued her face. She said nothing, as she felt her voice would most likely be a stuttering mess. She always fell back into stuttering when she was nervous; it was hard enough to keep herself from stuttering in everyday conversation, let alone in from of Jennet. She hesitantly followed the other girl out of the exit.

    Upon reaching the pizza place, the girl sat in a booth, looking through the menu. She had wanted a personal size pizza, but she wasn't sure what flavor. She waited for Genevieve to sit, and she just looked at her smiling. "So, Genevieve. What made you want to join the soccer team?" Jennet asked, tucking her hair behind her ear, as she looked at the girl that sat across from her.

    On the way there, Genny had not made a peep. She didn't want to ruin this moment with her jumbled speech. As she sat across from Jennet, she looked down at her lap the instant she began speaking to her. She wasn't really even that hungry...


    "Y-you can call me Genny, if you want." She usually hated when people she didn't know fell into calling her by her nickname, but Jennet was the exception, of course. Thinking of a reason wasn't that difficult, since she had practiced this in her head countless times before trying out. "I was just...interested. Seemed like fun." She gave her a nervous laugh.
