• MYOTIS & MYSHA

As Myotis crested the ridge of the far eastern mountains, Aerah's warning echoed through her mind. She quickly relayed the message to her rider, before angling her wings downwards and starting a swift descent to the forest below. It wasn't long before the figures of two dragons could be seen through the mountain mist (though Mysha's eyes, that is - Myotis merely heard their wingbeats) and the light dragon pulled out of her dive to hover above them.

'Help has arrived,' she mentally announced to the two dragons, 'another rider follows me, and a patrol after them.'

From her position astride Myotis' back, Mysha warily pulled herself up so that she could peer down into the forest below. She offered a brief nod to the other riders, but quickly turned her attention to the present danger, relying on her partner to relay them the relevant information. One of the perks of being a light dragon's rider was improved vision, but even she struggled to make out any sign of Hunter activity amongst the trees despite the plasma orbs that briefly illuminated the land. Then again, extending her senses wasn't a magical skill she had much practice with; she preferred the tried-and-tested method of using her unenhanced eyesight to spot what she needed to shoot, though that decision often came back to haunt her in situations such as this.

The ex-traveller's crossbow was ready in one hand, but she resigned herself to the fact that there were no practical targets at that moment. A different approach would be required. "You two, are you okay?" she shouted across to the two rider's, turning her attention to them as Myotis brought her closer. In the rush of her arrival, Zenna's last question had been lost to her, though the crossbow-wielding rider didn't know it. "Did you manage to get a good look at the Hunters?"

Myotis, meanwhile, extended her senses to examine the forest below. A wave of cold air hit her, and the sound of screaming reached her ears. The cold held the same sensation of dragon magic that she had encountered before... and yet, none of the rest of the patrol had arrived yet. Was this another newcomer joining the fray, or something else?

EDIT: I didn't see your post, sorry QuickStrike. The thread must have updated while I was typing up a reply. I added a bit to my post to acknowledge it.

  • Zakus & Auron

"Something like that," Auron thrummed, his pose thoughtful. "I will trust in your judgement of the situation, Markus, but I fear the bond between myself and Zakus shall take far longer to form than your own with Roth." He craned his long grey neck to watch as Zakus padded his way towards them in the grass. He carried a reflective metal shield in his arms, one that was longer than his torso and smudged green with grass stains. Zakus' frowned as he approached, lifting to find the strap for his shield on the large grey dragon's back. "What were you guys talking ab-" he words were cut off as shouts and the sounds of frantic flapping wings came from the forest, and jolting to alertness, Auron and Zakus' both spun about to see the commotion that was going down not far from them. "That doesn't look good..." mumbled Zakus grimly, his shield falling back into his arms as he slung it across his back and prepared for battle. But Auron could see the fear in his rider's eyes. The boy wasn't ready for this.

  • OOC: Its cool, we posted at like the same time anyways.

    Illium & Hirador

Illium threw ice spikes at hunters as he ducked between cover. He looked at his right arm hanging limply at his side and swore. He had managed to slow its affects but his arm was going to be useless until he got medical attention. A hunter came over the fallen log he had been hiding behind leading with his sword. Illium rolled out of the way and grabbed the trident on his back. It felt weird in his left hand, which usually held his weighted chain that he kept on his belt. The hunter struck out at him again, but this time Illium did not dodge. Instead he locked the hunters sword in the three prongs of his trident and twisted. The sword spun free of the hunters grasp and he stared in astonishment as Illium plunged his trident into the hunters chest. He rolled the dead hunter aside and peeked over the log. More hunters were rushing his position. "HIRADOR" Illium shouted to give his position to his dragon in the skies above.

Hirador heard Illiums shout and saw the problem. It seemed that many of the hunters had given up on trying to bring him down and were now focusing on his rider. Hirador let out another torrent of icy breath in a circle around his rider, blocking him off from the the hunters. He wanted to rush down and fight beside his rider on the ground but Illium had taken shelter in a rather heavily wooded area in an attempt to avoid the arrows. It had worked in that way but it also prevented Hirador from landing next to Illium. Hirador roared in frustration and anger, and hung in the air above his rider, blasting any groups of hunters that threatened to overwhelm Illium.

  • "Ailin and Sirona," Ailin answered quickly, ignoring Zenna's warning to back off. But he didn't have time to answer Mysha. As he felt the cold burst of air against his skin from down below, he leaned forward on Sirona, holding tightly to her as she suddenly shot toward the ground. He wasn't about to let the Hunters escape him, and neither was Sirona. After they collided with the ground for a rough landing, Ailin slid down from Sirona's back. The area around them was a chaos of sound - yelling, running, weapons whizzing and slashing through the air - but Ailin was unfazed as he summoned a limited, but effective, barrier of light in front of himself. He was not willing to back out of this fight - especially not when these Hunters had followed him for weeks.

  • Altus took off just after Myotis, following closely behind them. She was silent most of the ride, watching the landscape whiz by while she thought of all the possible scenarios to come. Her expression had shifted into something very close to emotionless, however annoyance lingered. Everything she had planned for this patrol was starting to come to shambles. All she could hope was that the hunters hadn't attacked any of the supply carts waiting for the Blood-Bound to pick up.
Upon meeting up with the member of the night patrol that had contacted them and the stranger that they had been informed of, Elizabeth studied them both well, only the stranger more so. There was something about them, both rider and dragon, that she couldn't shake. She would have to figure it out later for she had more inmoprtant matters to concern herself with. The hunters. The green eyed woman couldn't help but be a bit excited for whatever skirmish that may come. She hadn't fought against hunters for a few months so what happened now would be rather refreshing, as Elizabeth would put it.

(Sorry for the short post, mobile and busy. Will post way better quality posts in a bit.)

  • Illium & Hirador

Illium popped his head over the log to see what had caused such a loud crash and noticed the other rider and dragon in the clearing. Motioning for the other rider to take cover beside him, he fired off a few bolts of ice magic at a few of the hunters that had left cover when the new rider landed.

Hirador continued to keep the hunters suppressed with his breath, but they had managed to dig in enough that his blasts were becoming less and less effective. They weren't moving from there cover but they also weren't dying. "How are you managing down there, Illium" Hirador worriedly asked. He had noticed that Illium's magical attacks were coming less and less often and that he wasn't moving very well.

"I've been in worst scrapes before. Illium lied as he struggled to remain conscious. The effort it took to fire off his magic and the effects of the poison in his arm had worn him down physically and mentally. He wasn't sure how much he had left in him, or whether he would be able to see this fight through. But he had to try, he wasn't going to die here.

Hirador sighed knowingly. It was an obvious lie, but one he would swallow anyways. Illium was proud, and leaving a fight unfinished wasn't an option for him. Hirador would stay by him and fight until it was finished, even if it continued to endanger his rider.

  • Markus and Roth

    Markus inclined his head.

"I'm well aware that everyone bonds at their own time." he told the Thunder dragon. "But if you two just give each other a chance to forge a path together, everything will go more smoothly."

Markus glanced over as Roth gave a small growl, seeing the rest of the patrol in the air. He then turned to Zakus.

"Let's get going, we're holding up the rest." he said, then clapped a hand on the other rider's shoulder. "Hey, you'll be fine, Zarkus. Just trust Auron to keep you safe. And you'll have me and Roth up there with you. You'll be fine."

    He grinned.

    "Let's fly!"

With that he ran to his dragon and leapt into the saddle, the Dark dragon giving a roar as he leapt into the sky.

    Zenna and Aerah

Zenna smiled slightly as the rider introduced himself and his dragon.

"Nice to meet you, Ailin nad Sirona." she said and then turned to Mysha and Myotis, nodding to the other rider.

Aerah also gretted the new pair formally, then turned to Myotis.

Good. she told the light dragon. Because whatever's going on down there sounds like a war zone! I hope our re-enforcements arrive soo-

As Ailin and Sirona dived towards the fight, Aerah yelled after them.

    "Wait! Come back!"

"Let's go, Aerah!" Zenna told her dragon. "They may get hurt!"

"No, we will wait for re-enforcements!" the Soul dragon said.

"They're going to get themselves killed if we don't help them!" Zenna argued back. "And what if whoever else is down there needs help!"

"Exactly! As the only healers in the Blood-Bound, we need to be careful!" Aerah growled back.

Zenna narrowed her blue eyes, her expression cold.

"Fine. You won't help them, I'll do it myself!"

With that she let go of the pommel and rolled off her dragon, free-falling to the forest below.

"ZENNAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Aerah shrieked, flame's erupting from her maw as she dove down to try and catch her rider, grabbing her in her talons."Foolish girl!"

Aerah snarled as she narrowly avoided arrows, swinging her rider back onto her back.

"Aerah, fly over that tall tree over there. I'll jump down and climb to the bottom... then get out of range of the arrows!" Zenna told her.

"Zenna, it's too dangerous!" Aerah snarled, flying out of reach of the longbows again.

"Aerah... you have to trust me." Zenna placed a hand on the side of the dragon's neck.

Aerah shut her eyes, then snarled.

"Fine! But if you die, I'll kill you myself!" she snarled, diving towards the tree Zenna had pointed out.

  • Sirona swung her tail against the Hunters, sending large groups of them flying through the forest. "Ailin, get to the other rider," she ordered him, blasting balls of plasma at the Hunters that managed to escape her tail. Ailin didn't need to be told what to do; he had already heard the other dragon and rider's struggles and, using the barrier of light that he had summoned in front of himself, he sprinted through the hoard of Hunters, leaving them sprawled out on the ground as he hit them with the barrier. He ran so fast to reach the other rider that he ended up barrelling over the log that they hid behind, but at least he was safe. He would not have made it if Sirona had not protected his back, as Ailin's barrier was more like a shield and could only protect him from the front.

  • I've currently lost track of everyone, can someone give me a recap? >_<

  • MYOTIS & MYSHA

Myotis dived down after the other two dragons with only a couple of moments hesitation to get her bearings, the sound of arrows striking wood and frost magic cooling the air providing the light dragon with a clear picture of the battle bellow. She came to a halt a few metres above the treetops, gathering a ball of pure white energy in her maw before hurling it at the hunters below. It exploded in a flash, leaving those in its range blinded and dazed.

Mysha, not one to forgo taking any advantage she could, quickly trained her crossbow on one of the men caught in the blast. Before he could even look up at his attacker, a bolt had sunk into his shoulder, and he hit the ground with a thud. Above him, the amber-eyed rider turned her attention to where her allies were fighting amongst the trees, and fired again at one woman who was trying to flank the unknown riders. Hunters were well known for being persistent little creatures, and these ones certainly were no different.

    SALAZEL

Salazel watched as his fellow dragons and their riders took to the skies, and quickly followed suit. 'So much for an easy patrol, eh?' he commented to his rider, as they followed the patrol towards the eastern forest. From his position in the centre of the group he could see the others preparing for battle, and could sense the tension echoing in the minds of his fellows. Apparently, their plan for a quiet retrieval and scouting mission had been abandoned. Salazel couldn't say that he was surprised.

    ---

OOC: The patrol is in the air and is flying to the rescue of two new dragon&rider pairs, who were tracked by Hunters to the forest at the eastern edge of the mountains. Mysha, Elizabeth, Zenna, and their respective dragons are already at the scene, along with the two new riders.

Also, just a heads up Natavian, life dragons (and grim dragons) don't have any kind of breath aspect. They do have a nasty bite, though c:

  • //Thanks greatbear!

    Abilene and Rhear
    -x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-
Abilene shifted in Rhear's saddle, mumbling softly as her dragon hurried to keep up with the patrol. Glancing over her shoulder, she could see that Gaia had taken flight and was following along behind. The armored dragoness was slower than everyone because of her huge size. Abi knew that the older beast could handle herself, and would no doubt be useful in the battle ahead.

    Gaia
    -x-x-
The earth dragon beat her massive wings harshly, she was falling behind. This was not okay. Gaia reached her feet to a nearby mountain top and pushed off, giving herself a slight boost, catching herself up with the patrol.
Sorry I'm late everyone, had some difficulties with air resistance.

  • OOC: Imma kill my phone for colors, will fix the blue lines when I have a computer to use

    Illium & Hirador

Illium fired off a few coverings shots as the other rider barreled into the cover beside him. "My name's Illium, and my dragon is Hirador, he's the cold one." He said quickly to the other rider. Then there was a flash and he noticed that there were other riders in the sky above him. Looks like help has arrived, though that had been my intention from the start. Guess I was a little to hasty to fight. He thought to himself. Then he closed his eyes and relaxed against the log, hoping he had the time to catch his breath. But then he heard a thud from behind him and whipped around, trident at the ready. The woman that lay on the ground before him could cause him no harm though for he noticed that a crossbow bolt had taken her down. He turned his attention to the sky then sand gave a thumbs up to the rider that had brought the sneaky hunter down.

Hirador realized he wasn't alone in the skies anymore. Well that was one less thing he had to worry about. As he continued to rain icy death apon those hunters unlucky enough to be caught in the open, he reached out with his mind to the other dragons "Friends, my name is Hirador, and it is good to be fighting with you today."

  • OOC:

    OOPSIE... I forgot...

    IC:

    Zenna and Aerah.

Aerah drew back the moment her rider had leapt into the trees. Like Mysha, Zenna was armed with a crossbow, as well as her throwing daggers, so the Soul dragon new her rider was going to be okay. But she still worried about her. She flew so she was the same height as the Ice dragon nad nodded as he introduced himself.

Good to meet you, Hirador... although I wish it could have been under different circumstances. She said, looking down into the forest as if she'd be able to see her rider below. I'm Aerah. My fool of a rider is Zenna...

Zenna was swinging from tree branch to tree branch as if she'd spent a life time in the woods, which, to a greater or lesser degree she had, as she'd been born into a family of apothecaries. As she climbed, she took shot at the hunters, trying to get rid of as many as she could. Once on the ground, she ran from tree to tree, trying to get to where the other riders and Sirona were.

  • As Sirona slowly moved back toward Illium and Ailin, she answered Horador: "I am Sirona - is your rider the one behind the log?" She could tell that Illium had been poisoned, despite not being able to see him; she could smell the poison on the Hunter's arrows. She knew that although this battle was safe for a dragon, as their scales protected them, the riders were in terrible danger. Meanwhile, Ailin told Illium, "I'm Ailin; my dragon is coming to help us."

[sorry, i'm still on mobile, probably will be for a while :/]

  • Ooc- Sincerest apologies for vanishing! I didn't have the intentions to but my energy and muse left me (and is still weak so forgive the bad post ;-; )

    ic-

    Nohki-
"Nothing is ever easy with you humans."
The dragon commented through his bond with his trainer as he took to the sky, doing quietly as his rider asked of him. He moved carefully along, keeping out of sight of the ground best he could. He didn't want his rider hurt unnecessarily. The grim dragon didn't ever enjoy doing things that would put Bel in harms way even if the human could do well on her own. It bothered the dragon that she had been alone so long, and he refused to let her be on her own whenever they went out of their home.

    Lathlaeril & Pisces-

The dragon and rider duo took off with the rest of patrol, the lithe air dragon doing her best to keep up with the others and stay out of harms way at the same time. Her heart raced with excitement and slight fear as she glanced back at Gaia following behind them. The large dragoness seemed to give the smaller air dragon a needed confidence boost as she forged onward with the others.

    Claudius-

Claudius kept himself carefully balanced in his saddle as his dragon moved, sighing softly to himself. He grinned at his dragon's comment, shaking his head a bit.
"I think we should have expected this sooner." He replied, trying to ease off his own nerves.
Things could so easily go wrong even if the enemy they faced was small.

  • [Unfortunately, I'll be stuck mobile this weekend, but I'm not doing much more than just sitting at home for most the day. I have skate practice and that's about it so I'm pretty free to post and linger on here for as long as I want since I have no homework :3]

Altus dived downward, following behind Myotis. However, he didn't stop just above the tree line, he continued down till he could reach the ground. Elizabeth had jumped off of his back when they had reached about 20 feet off the ground so as to not waste a single moment to deal with the Hunters that ran about on the offensive. Altus on the other hand had waited to commence his attack till he had firmly touched down on the ground. Once he had finally done so, he let out a mighty roar and started knocking any and all hunters that were around him off of their feet with his fore paws, crushing a few and sending most flying as he did, meanwhile electricity shot out of his maw every now and then when he opened it wide enough to do so. He continued this way until he heard a greeting from one of the dragons not originally from the Blood-Bound. "Hello, Hirador. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm glad to have such a friendly new ally here with us on the battlefield today."
Elizabeth had proceded to use her own less barbaric way of fighting with her sword and fists. She lunged forward, plunging her sword into a hunters chest then quickly pulling it out as she performed a leg sweep that knocked the three incoming hunters over. Electricity surged from her fingertips and spanned out around her for about fifteen or so feet. She was slowly making her way to where she had seen Sirona land as she had the feeling the light dragon had done so for a reason and that reason, she figured, was that someone was there and injured. As she went she stunned or temporarily paralyzed anyone that came into her magics range. She would only have a few minutes or so till she would take it down, for fear of exhausting herself far to early in the fight.
The green eyed woman sprinted to where Sirona had landed, soon coming close enough to see that her assumption was correct. Where there was a light dragon on the battlefield, there was most defiantly an injured ally.
She sprinted over to Illum and took cover from an arrow that had been shot at her. She quickly looked herself over to see that her skin was peppered with Socrates from hunters' weapons, although she acquired no such wounds from one of their poison arrows luckily, but she knew sooner or later her luck would surely run out. She looked to Illum and looked him over, making note of his shoulder wound. "My name is Elizabeth, would you allow me to help you to better cover?" She quickly inquired this whilst another arrow whizzed past, momentarily startling her but she composed herself just after it had gone by. "Light dragon, forgive me for referring to you like this, but I would ask of you for your assistance. I'm afraid I can't heal him like you can."

  • Zenna and Aerah

Zenna saw Elizabeth up ahead and quickly dispatched an arrow at the hunter who was trying to follow her as she leapt over a log. She guessed that this was where the others had taken refuge. Zenna leapt into a nearby tree and ran lightly over the branch before leaping into another and then another, before climbing down to join the others. She was in time to hear Elizabeth ask Sirona if she could heal the injured rider. Being the rider of what was possible the last Soul dragon, Zenna could heal him as well, but decided to wait and see what Sirona said as she'd already been asked. She looked over the top of the log and shot another hunter, but she knew they couldn't stay down there forever. She was rapidly running out of bolts. Soon it would be fists and weapons- and magic. But since her's was healing in nature, it was no good on the offensive.

Aerah... it's getting hot down here! she called out to her dragon.

You're the fool who leaped before looking! Aerah answered back, snapping her jaws in annoyance.

Not now, Aerah! Are you guys in position yet? Because we can probably only hold them down here for another few minutes...

  • MYOTIS & MYSHA

Mysha returned the stranger's thumbs up with a quick nod, before turning her attention back to the fight. Her partner was flying the two of them in wide circles over the treetops, giving her the opportunity to view the battle from a number of different positions. This was a useful trick, as it allowed her to spot Hunters hiding in places she wouldn't have been able to access from the ground, though it did mean that she had to act quickly when they did come into view.

As they flew, Myotis turned her attention to the ongoing conversation between the other dragons. 'I am Myotis,' she introduced herself, 'and my rider is Mysha. If any of you are in need of assistance, please let me know and I will do my best to provide.'

Mysha, meanwhile, continued to watch the battle from above. From what she could see, the Hunter's were beginning to dwindle in number, though there were still enough lurking around to pose a threat. There was a large group of around seven of them concentrating their attacks on the ice rider and the others, for starters, and another three or so were dotted around in the trees. This quickly became two, as a crossbow bolt from above hit one of those hiding in the leaves, and knocked them straight out of their perch. Mysha had little time to congratulate herself, however, as return fire from another hunter forced her to duck and Myotis to roll out of the way of another poisoned arrow.

    BEL

A wry smile spread across Bel's face, though she knew that Nohki wouldn't be able to see it. 'Don't I know it,' she agreed, shaking her head. In all her travels, humans had caused her more trouble than any dragon or monster ever had. She honestly couldn't see why anyone would wish to join the Hunters, yet join they did, and this only caused more problems for every species, while solving none. In Bel's eyes, humans and their love for making things difficult for themselves were the reason that most of the world's issues still existed. Putting the blame on another species was childish, not to mention selfish and thoughtless.

Her thoughts turned grim as she surveyed the other people and creatures around her. On either side her allies flew, the mountains beneath them giving way to shallower slopes. How many of them would lose their lives at the hands of a thoughtless human? Bel could only hope that none would do so on her watch. The worry that she mind lose one of them - or worse, lose Nohki - was an all too real one for the armoured rider. A pang of nervousness again echoed through her mind at the thought. She had to keep them all safe. She must.

Fear gave way to determination once more, and she steeled herself as they flew onward, bronze-flecked eyes focusing on the forest that was slowly coming into view.

    SALAZEL

Salazel hummed in agreement. 'We knew we couldn't avoid trouble forever,' he replied. 'As much as I might wish that it wasn't the case, this kind of situation was inevitable, really.'

He hated the thought that he might lose his friend and rider to some unknown danger, so he avoided thinking it entirely. Instead, he focused himself on pushing against the winds with increased urgency, his swift wingbeats carrying him past Gaia and towards the front of the group. He ceased his efforts when he was a few yards behind Bel and a couple of the others, allowing himself to relax as they neared their destination. Working himself up would only prove to be a disadvantage if it came to a fight, after all.

'Looks like we're almost there,' the fire dragon commented, spying some trees in the distance. 'Whether you like it or not, we better be ready, hmm?'

    ---

OOC: Don't worry about low muse or mobile posts or anything, it's all understandable c:

  • Ooc: I'm having a little trouble understanding where everyone's at at the moment, so this post is going to be a bit short. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out once things have died down, but until then, Zakus is going to be a bit useless. :)

    Zakus & Auron

Zakus climbed onto Auron's back, slipping on his wing joint for a good five seconds before finding his feet in the stirrup of his saddle. The grey dragon arched his back as he felt that weight of his rider resting there, and gather strength to the haunches of his legs, he lifted his massive head to the cloudy blue sky and rose slowly into the air, wings beating furiously at his sides. Then suddenly, like a cat springing into a tree, his legs shot out and both rider and dragon were suddenly fifty feet in the air, rising faster than ever.
