    Roleplay
All thru out the Town of Beginning's main square, players panicked, crying out as they looked into their mirrors, seeing not an avatar, but their own faces. Overhead, the dark faceless robed figure continued. "Right now, you are probably wondering why. Why would Akihiko Kayaba, developer of Sword Art Online and NerveGear, do this? Ultimately, my goal was a simple one. The reason I created Sword Art Online was to control the fate of a world of my design. As you can see, I have achieved my goal. This marks the end of the tutorial and the official launch of Sword Art Online. Players, I wish you the best of luck." With those final words, the announcement ended, and a new wave of panic was sent though the crowd. They were trapped, here in a virtual world where losing meant death. One hundred floors of monsters and traps. How long would it take? What if they never got out? The fear in the crowd was practically palpable.

  • Hisako stared blankly at the sky. Her mirror slipped from her fingers, crashing on the paving stones, then disappearing in a flash of green and blue pixels. Only hours, no, minutes ago, she'd been grinding for levels, beating quests. Playing a game. This couldn't be real. It couldn't be real, right? She grunted as a panicked player shoved her out of the way. She had to get out of here. Out of this square, out of the Town of Beginnings, out of this game—just out. Pushing forcefully to her feet, she equipped her bronze sword and tried to make her way to the nearest street. She had to head to the next village before everyone else picked this place clean.

Yuuto clutched the mirror tightly, staring down at his face. At his brother's face. His brother wasn't here to protect him in this world. He was alone. He'd never played a game before, he hadn't even put any of his stats into combat skills. Tears welling up in bright yellow eyes, he sank to his knees, shoulders heaving as he tried not to cry. He didn't notice as the frenzied crowd shoved him and pushed past him. He was going to die. He was going to die. All alone in some world he didn't even understand.

  • Yami's expression fell as he realised that every player was now trapped in Sword Art Online, clenching his fist tight enough to draw virtual blood as the mirror slipped out of his hand and shattered on the ground "Damn you Kyaba... Damn you!" He said under his breath before making his way towards the entrance of the Town of beginnings and began killing boars in the fields outside, standard bronze dagger in hand

  • Kiyomi stood frozen for a few moments, gazing into the mirror that everyone had been given. As she finally processed the information, someone shoved past her, sending her stumbling into someone else. "Oh! I'm so sorry!" She spoke softly, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Hikari had equipped her iron rapier, prepared to leave for the next town over. Knowing all the other beta players would be doing the same and hoping she would be one of the first. She had shoved past a girl who had appeared to be frozen, not worried about hurting anyone as she knew unless a duel was begun there was no way to hurt anyone in the town.

  • Yami smiled as he leveled up, gaining 50 Exp and 25 col to his name, suddenly falling forwards as a boar charged into his back, causing him to let out a curse and roll as his HP dropped into the yellow zone, quickly using a HP potion he gripped his dagger and swiped, activating a sword skill which made him charge forwards, running a large red line across a boars flank, causing it to shatter into pixels

  • Fear. Anger. Panic. Dread. All of these emotions hit her at once as the robed figure finished his announcement. The only thing she held was her rapier, as her mirror shattered into pixels on the ground a while ago.

They.. they were trapped. Everyone was. The brunette barely managed to choke back her tears. This couldn't be real. This had to be a joke! Right..?

Absorbed in her own thoughts, it took her a minute to snap out of it. "S-Seito, what do y-" She suddenly stopped talking when she turned to her left. There was nobody but other frenzied players shoving their way through. Her friend was missing. Where was he?!

The girl began to panic. They were both in the fields just a second ago! Shouldn't he have been here too?! Without another thought, the girl frantically began pushing through the crowd to look for them.

  • Grimacing, Hisako thanked her strength stat as she started muscling her way through the crowd. Finally making her way out into the fields outside the town, she started to run. Sword equipped and shining in the digital sun, she struck the easy killing blow to two boar without breaking stride. There was an alternate route to the second town. It was hidden, and she only knew of it thanks to the beta tests. So the hard short route? Or the long and slow one?

Yuuto cried out in surprise as Kiyomi bumped into him. "I-It's fine, I'm sorry," he stammered, quickly wiping at his teary eyes. Guys weren't supposed to cry, right? "W-Where is everyone going? What do we do now?"

  • Hikari knew she'd be slowed down a bit by stopping every time a boar spawned near her, but on the other hand she couldn't go on without leveling up. She gave a longing sigh as she thought of all her equipment from the beta server. "It would be real useful now." She murmured to herself wistfully, striking a boar down.

Kiyomi bit her lip uncertainly, near tears herself. "I... I don't know... How are we expected to survive on so little?" The girl clenched her fists, making crescent shapes in the palms of her hands where her nails were digging in successfully stopping from crying. "I guess we level up?"

  • Hisako took a deep breath. Focus. She was letting her panic get the better of her. If it was still just a game, she'd play aggressively, shooting straight down the hard shortcut. But now, death meant something. Still, to stay... Already other players were out here grinding. She needed fresh ground to level up in. Should she get together a party? Try the long easy route on her own? The tall girl frowned, targeting a boar as it came near.

"I-I guess so. We should probably stay calm." Yuuto said, nodding. "Leveling up sounds like if would be hard. But, I guess, what else can we do?" He said with a forced smile, still shaking slightly. "My name's Yuuto."

  • Hikari glanced around, frowning at how many others were around her. That was no good. She'd be sure to have others on her tail if she looked like she knew where she was going. It'd be far better to hide her status as a beta player. Heading for the next boar, she held her rapier at the ready, allowing the attack to charge.

Offering her hand out to Yuuto, she gave a small smile in return. "Kiyomi. My name is Kiyomi, it's nice to meet you." She paused for a moment, she had heard that going solo was far more difficult that working with someone else. "Would you like to level up together?"

  • Though it had only been a few minutes, it felt like she had to push her way through the crowd for hours. Nevertheless she fought her way through. Not that it mattered. Her search proved fruitless.

I hope he's okay... Mayuki thought with a sigh.

From there she just stood for a moment. What now? It seemed pointless to search now in all the chaos, so it was probably best to wait until things calm down in the city. Perhaps training was a good idea? Then again, if she loses all of her HP...

A chill went down her spine at the thought. But she didn't have much chance of surviving at only level 2 did she? Summoning what courage she had, she slowly stepped deeper into the fields, hesitantly searching for a boar to fight.

  • Yami continued killing boar, slowly increasing in Exp to his next level with each kill and gradually feeling stronger with each consecutive kill and exp gain "Look out Sword Art Online, there's a new player in the game, and his name is Yami Hajime" he said, mostly to himself

  • "You're grinding pretty hard." sheathing her sword to show she meant no harm—not like she couldn't draw it if worst came to worst, right? Hisako strode over to Yami, her hands tucked in her pockets. Based on what she could see of him, her guess was he was another beta tester, or at least someone who'd played a lot of games before. "All these spawn points are going to be swamped with other players soon. There's a small dire wolf pack that way, and quests scattered here and there. They're manageable, but risky. I'm looking for folks to party up with, at least to the next village."

He shook her hand, managing a hesitant smile. He still wasn't sure if he could survive. But it wouldn't be as hard if he wasn't alone, right? "That sounds nice. Oh!" Yuuto flicked his finger, opening the menu. He winced a bit at the sight of the place where the logout button should be, but trying to ignore it, fumbled through a bit. "I think I heard you could… uh, there! I think I've got it!" Even as he spoke, a little message box appeared in front of Kiyomi, hovering in the air before her. Yuuto is inviting you to join their party. Accept / Deny

  • Yami nodded "i figured as much, and sure, the Only way to survive this is to get stronger and level higher, and I agree, the more people we have the better our changes of survival, strength in mumbers" he said, opening up his menu and sending the girl a party invite before offering a hand "My name is Yami Hajime, and you are..?" He asked politely

  • Accepting the request, she shook his hand. "Hisako." They would have to talk too much right? They were in a party, sure, safety in numbers, but she barely knew this dude. Crap, since when did her real world shyness follow her into video games? Oh, right, since video games became literally a matter of life and death. "I know of a couple quests around here, but not all of them are focused on combat related skills," she explained. She didn't mention how—being a beta tester didn't matter, survival did. "What's your level?" she asked, figuring she'd base the quest off that.

  • Yami glanced up at his HUD and checked his own level "level 4, yours?" He replied "And sure, some quests sound fun, we should be able to wrap them up quite quickly with two of us" he said before glancing at her "You seem to know what your doing" he complimented

  • Kiyomi smiled a bit more, feeling like she had a better chance of survival now that she wouldn't be alone. Pressing the accept button she turned her focus back on Yuuto. "Alright... So what level did you get to before this, She paused to gesture around them, "happened?"

  • Mayumi suddenly stopped when a boar came shuffling along near by. Alright. Here goes nothing.. She thought with a sigh. It was a good thing this monster was passive, because it took her a moment to gather her courage and charge.

The boar let out a sudden squeal as she slashed it's side. It turned it's head and attempted to ram her with it's tusks. She gasped as it gashed her in the side, managing to take some of her HP as well. In an attempt to get it off she held her rapier above her head and swung it down toward it's head. Another hit landed.

It wasn't done though. The mob ran back and prepared to attack again. This was going to be a lot harder than she thought.

  • Not bad. Was he a beta tester too, maybe? She'd ask later. "Level five," Hisako explained. "I play a lot of mmos," she told him, purposefully dancing around the fact she had beta tested. "I'm used to the basic idea." Changing the topic as quickly and inconspicuously as she could, she glanced back at the walls of the Town of Beginnings. Quickly, she came up with another half lie. "Before the mass teleport, I was deciding which quest to do first—" she turned her head, noticing Mayumi from the corner of her eye. She paused, watching, just in case. She didn't want to cause trouble, but she didn't want anyone getting hurt either. Still watching Mayumi, she continued speaking to Yami. "They were 'A Dire Situation' and 'Secret Medicine of the Forest.' They're about our skill level."

Yuuto smiled, looking a bit embarrassed. "Only level two. It's probably not that great. I kinda got distracted. First I wanted to try the cooking skill, then there was this thing with a cat–bird, and I named her Koneko… so, uh, yeah, just level two. What about you?" he asked. Pausing, he lit up suddenly. "Oh, right!" Digging through his inventory, he offered Kiyomi a honey roll. "It's not great—my cooking skill is just a beginner, but I've got extra, and if we're going to work together for now, well, uh, you can have some!"

  • Yami blushed in embarrassment "Level 3" he admitted "I've played a few MMO's too, mostly WoW and Runescape, though I do have a particular liking for First and Third-person shooters, especially if they have RPG elements" he admitted
