  • at only nine moons, littlepaw already had the duties of a full medicine cat. she'd only undergone four moons of training before both her mentors disappeared, and frankly, the apprentice wasn't as skilled as she wished to be. she had starclan to teach her the knowledge, but she wished to have someone by her side when she was actually healing. unfortunately, this wasn't possible and the van she-cat had to assume lone responsibility over the entire clan's health at such a young age.

so when twoface disappeared without a single trace, it was littlepaw who had to make the trip to the other clans, and when they held no useful information, it was littlepaw who made her way to the moonstone. her warrior ancestors had given her her full name, littleberry, alongside crucial information regarding the new leadership of shadowclan. her return had been a quiet one, and though she was hungry and absolutely exhausted, the now medicine cat immediately made her way to the center of camp.

"cats of shadowclan, after traveling to each of the forest clans with no answers, i have made my way to the moonstone. twoface has gone missing and is no longer meant to be the next leader of shadowclan, and they have sent a sign to show that the next leader of shadowclan is snakehiss."

"also, starclan has given me my full name, littleberry."

    / rushed + sorry it's late!

  • Mistheart wasn't sure whether she felt inclined to believe Littleberry. After all, the longhaired she cat didn't have a very strong belief in StarClan, and she didn't have the best opinion on the medicine cat, either. She was however quite fond of Snakehiss, in a strange way. He was scary, but he was one of the cats she had noticed the most throughout her life, and his personality was rather amusing. Of course Mistheart was scared of him, but she did believe deep down that he was a good cat. Maybe. "R-really? What does everyone else think?" She whispered, feeling guilty that she wasn't even congratulating Littleberry or Snakehiss yet.

By the looks of Littlepaw's expression, it didn't look good. Twoface was indeed missing, and now they were without a deputy or a leader.

    At least until now.

"The next leader of ShadowClan is Snakehiss." Snakehiss heard the words and folded his ears, emerald eyes narrowing in realization. No... The tom thought. His heart felt like it was sinking yet pounding at rapid-speed. It couldn't be, it couldn't possibly be. It had to be a lie! He glanced at Mistheart, gulping at her words before looking to the new medicine cat. "Littlepa--" He only had a split-second to correct himself, as the only thing he was concentrating on was his apparent new leadership. "Littleberry, you're sure? You swear it?" She could've heard wrong, but he knew Littleberry. She was intelligent for her age and took these things seriously. He just couldn't come to grips with any of it.

  • She watched, but rather than argue as expected, she toilted her head thoughtfully. "I suppose it makes sense... he is the msot reliable and seasoned member of the group. If thats what starclan wants, then so be it. " SShe had given up on fighting starclans will now that everyone she had ever loved had gone to join them. It hurt, that was for sure, but she didnt necissarily mind all that much. After all, she had her own kits to raise now.

  • Sparrowkit bounced out of the nursery at the mention of an announcement, coming to sit beside her mother, despite her resentment towards Softlight due to her picking favourites. So Snakehiss was leader now? And Twoface was gone? Where was he now? Her mind swam with silent questions.

  • her gaze flickered over her clanmates uneasily. did they think she was lying? "yes, i'm sure." the medicine cat meowed, staring straight at snakehiss. he'd told her about some bad things he'd done as an apprentice, yet he was clearly regretful and one of the few cats littleberry could trust these days. "after they told me shadowclan needed a different leader, i saw a snake hissing from the shadows. snakes usually hibernate during leaf-bare, so i'm certain this was starclan's doing."

    Daisykit of Shadowclan

Coughing lightly, the sickly child grinned nonetheless with excitement. Trotting over to her mother and sister, the little one pressed cheerily against her mother's limb, her yellow eyes wide with her own dreams. Someday, it would be HER name called to lead by the medicine cat! Starclan themselves would bless her paw steps to the sky - she just knew it! Coughing again, she lifted a paw to cover her mouth, trying to keep as silent as possible as she perked her ears to the announcement.

Zee never had any sort of interaction with the previous leader, Twoface, and while she admired the stories she'd heard tell in his name, she had no feelings to the tom's disappearance. On the other hand, she had dealt once or twice with Snakehiss, and while the tom was sarcastic, rude, and very old- Daisykit rather liked him. He was interesting! She liked the unspoken stories that trailed behind him like a ever-growing shadow of history just waiting to grace her ears.
While Zee would have like it to be her mother to be chosen, Snakehiss was pretty great choice too.

"YAY FOR SNAKE-uh-STAR THEN!" the kitten chirped, clapping her paws together in cheer. She wondered if that old man would live long enough to make her warrior. OH - maybe she'd someday be his deputy!
    OHHHH
    Wait, who's deputy now?!
The kitten trembled with anticipation for the answer...

// tired and crapoy post ugh

Snakehiss whipped his head to listen to Softlight. It couldn't be! He was just a young warrior, formerly an exile. Why would StarClan choose him to lead the clan? Would they get angry if he didn't accept the position? Would the clan crumble?

He looked back to Littleberry and gulped with a nod. "I...I guess I'll be leaving for the moonstone." Snakehiss winced as the kit congratulated him. Snakestar. It was what he always wanted when he was younger, wasn't it? Why did he feel so afraid?

The tom blinked and backed away. He then turned towards the medicine den so that he could fetch some traveling herbs.

    What was StarClan thinking?

  • Mistheart looked uneasy. Her lack of faith in StarClan wasn't helping her right now, was it? The she cat wondered if she should keep quiet, but something burned up inside her, some powerful fire. No. There was no need for her to stay quiet. "If you're sure, and if the rest of, or at least the majority of the Clan agree," the shy female mumbled. Her good eye scanned Snakehiss - and whilst she didn't smile, she did feel warmth for a moment or two. Maybe things would work out, and Mistheart really was just being too negative for her own good. "Why is everything in life so complicated?"

  • [center][fancypost=background-color:;border:0px;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]Snakehiss....the leader? Winterpaw's bright blue eyes were widened in surprise as she heard this news. She was happy for him of course, but did this mean..she wouldn't be able to spend much time with him anymore? The thought saddened her as she'd grown so accustomed to hanging out with Snakehiss that not being able to just felt strange.

Shaking her head to rid of the negative thoughts, the silver tabby ran over to her friend and gave him a friendly nuzzle. "Congrats Snakehiss, I know you'll be a great leader!" She mewed with a large grin.

  • / WHOOPS i totally thought i already replied to this

"i'll accompany you there, just let me grab us some traveling herbs first." the young medicine cat meowed. she had been at the moonstone only yesterday, but it was customary for medicine cats to accompany their leaders to receive their nine lives. when she noticed snakehiss turned toward the medicine den himself, she hurried over to stop him. "you know which herbs are for traveling?" the young she-cat asked, surprised.

  • [center][fancypost=;border:0px;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]Mocha, having been born in captivity and raised as a kittypet, hardly understood what exactly was going on in the camp. The slim tabby's eyes blinked open slowly as he noticed the growing noise of the commotion just a little ways away from the medicine cat den, and he lifted his head from where it had been tucked tightly into one of his hind legs, yawning widely and turning his sleepy eyes in the direction of the cave entrance. Though he'd been previously waiting for Littlepaw to come back from wherever she had gone a little while ago, he had quickly become bored. Hopefully she wouldn't mind if he left the den again without permission, just to see what exactly was happening outside.

Mocha heaved himself to his paws, careful not to irritate his broken leg any further, then sat up, breathing in deeply to awaken his senses. The bell around his neck rung softly, and he pressed a paw to it to silence it irritably, then poked his head out of the entrance to the small cave that he'd made his temporary living quarters, his bright green eyes blinking in confusion at the large group of gathering clan cats. Littlepaw seemed to be at the head of them all, and Mocha sunk backward a little, hoping she wouldn't see him, and chose to simply listen by the entrance of the den instead of leaving it like he'd originally planned. He didn't want to get in trouble, after all.

Swiveling his ears forward to hear more clearly over the other cats' clamor, he listened in on what Littlepaw - now Littleberry - had to say in a curious silence, though his brows knitted in confusion in response to the medicine cat's words. Moonstone. Twoface missing. Starclan. Snakehiss is leader. New name is Littleberry. None of it made sense, though he assumed it had to do with what they had said earlier, something that related to their laws and traditions. He shifted uncomfortably on his paws, slight fear sparking in his gaze for a few seconds; what if Snakehiss - er, Snakestar, as people seemed to be calling him - kicked he and Smokey out? What if he killed them? Did he have that sort of power now?

A soft huff left his nose. He didn't want that to happen. Maybe he would talk to Snakestar later, maybe try and get on his good side. He'd prove his worth... He had to. Jolting as he realized the newly appointed leader and the medicine cat had begun to approach the den, he slid back inside, curling back up in his nest in the corner, his ears flat to his skull and his eyes on the ground. Anxious thoughts swirled in his head like an angry swarm of bees, but he forced himself to ignore them. Everything would be fine. Snakestar wasn't unfair.

    ...Right?
