  • Wrenkit bounded around camp, chasing butterflies, stalking up to leaves and pouncing on them, and of course, sneezing a bit from the cold. She turned her dark green eyes to the sky as it began to snow lightly, she sneezed again as a snoflake landed on the end of her nose, melting before she could properly see it. She bounded up onto the tree stump in front of where the apprentices slept and looked around. Everything was so small from up here! She smiled widely proud she'd even climbed the tree stump.

    "speech."

  • partridgepaw loved kits. well, he didn't love the idea of being a father. he would not be a good dad. he had trouble caring for himself already. there was no way he would be able to handle fathering a litter. the eight-moon-old tom would never have kits, and he already knew it. (he also had never taken much of an interest in she-cats, but that was a different story) it was a little upsetting, but that was fine.

watching wrenkit catching leaves, he couldn't help but smile a little. it reminded him about how much easier life was before he became an apprentice. back when being overweight was just called kittenfat, and when he didn't have to worry about how hard he would mess up when trying to go hunting. he wasn't old or anything, and he knew thinking in terms like "before" and "back then" was stupid for someone not a year old. but partridgekit and partridgepaw were essentially two different cats. he was a lot happier as partridgekit, but it wasn't like it was possible to go back in time or anything.

"you're so tall up on that stump, wrenkit," he meowed, thinly smiling. "you're taller than me!"

  • Wrenkit smiled and puffed out her chest "I know! And I'll be in that den with you soon! Just you wait!" she smiled and stepped forward missing the step and tumbling to the ground, a small 'oops' escaping from her lips before she smiled again, "if you're not busy, can we play?"

    "speech."

  • "you'll love being an apprentice," he said to the brown kitten. it wasn't really a lie. wrenkit would love to be an apprentice. he felt the same way when he was her age. he always thought being a warrior would be so cool. he would be big and tough and all the clans would fear seeing him in battle. those dreams sure weren't becoming reality, though. he dreaded the day that he would have to fight for his clan. he was pathetic when training, and he would be pathetic when actually fighting.

oh no, partridgepaw didn't like the sound of that. the brown spotted tabby knew that playing with a kit at his age would make him look immature. not to mention that he had never been the best at playing games, and he could only imagine how embarrassing it would be if a kit was faster than him at his normal speed. but he could not bring himself to tell her no. she was just a young kit. no one would judge him for that, would they?

"sure," he purred quietly. "what do you wanna play?"

  • Wrenkit stood up and thought for a moment,"how about... Hide-and-Seek!"She squealed prancing around Partridgepaw while she waited for him to speak again. Hide and seek was one of her favorite games other than mossball, which was almost every kits' favorite game. She sneezed again as another snowflake landed under her nose, and she looked up again, the small snowfall they'd gotten was almost over already, which was good, because it meant she wouldn't get sick.

    "speech."

  • Silvertail appeared out of the warriors den spotting her apprentice, partridgepaw, getting ready to play with her sister's kit, wrenkit. She pads over to the freshkill pile and picks up a thin rabbit. She growled at the looks of the freshkill pile. We need to hunt. Maybe we can find some more prey today. she thought to herself. She layed down under a small bush, the morning light shining on her silver tabby pelt. After finishing her rabbit she padded over to partridgepaw. "Hey." she mewed to the apprentice. "We need to hunt for the clan. Have you eaten?" she asked.

  • (sorry, but partridgepaw actually has an established mentor!)

"sure," he responded, nodding. hide-and-seek was always fun when he was young, but he personally always preferred mossball. "you can go and hide, and i'll count to 15."

just as he began to close his eyes, the voice of a warrior hit his ears. "oh, hi silvertail," he responded nervously. warriors made him uncomfortable. he always felt like they were silently judging him. "um, no, haven't had anything yet. haven't left camp at all today." he obviously left to make dirt, but that was pretty private and not the kind of thing he wanted to discuss. he wanted to tell her that he was busy playing with wrenkit, but he knew that was a dumb thing to say, and he would ultimately be dragged out of camp anyways to hunt (and fail miserably). hunting was hard, and he wasn't good at it. no matter how many times he tried, he could not manage to stay quiet enough to sneak up on prey. he was a pretty chunky cat, and it was difficult for him to keep his pawsteps silent.

  • Silvertail purred as she watched the kit run off playfully. She looked down at the apprentice who seemed scared to death. She sighed. She wanted for him to succeed but he always seemed to put himself down. She gave his ear a friendly lick. "Howabout you stay in camp this morning. Later this evening we can go to the training hollow." she purred at the apprentice. "I talked to Rainstar yesterday and he said you were going to be coming to the Gathering tonight." she purred looking at the apprentice for his reaction.

  • the apprentice hadn't been aware that there was a gathering, and he wasn't too thrilled about it. he had never before attended a gathering, as he had only been an apprentice for the past two moons. he was perfectly comfortable staying in camp and just waiting until the chosen cats returned. meeting others was not his forte, and he would likely end up uncomfortably following around stagspirit to avoid having to be left by himself.

"i, uh... alright," said the spotted tabby, lightly scowling. he assumed silvertail was just trying to make him happier, but she was only making him feel worse. he was far from outgoing, and attending gatherings was the kind of thing that extroverts did. he was not an extrovert, and that was known to every cat in the clan.

  • Silvertails tail drooped and she stopped purring when she saw his reaction. He was her first apprentice and she felt that she was failing miserably. "Ok then." she sighed. "Ill see you later on this evening then." She slowly padded toward the camp exit. Her tail dragging as if she had just fought the most exhausting battle in her life.

  • oh starclan, he screwed up. he felt bad, but he couldn't bring himself to change his mind. "i'm sorry!" he told silvertail quickly as she began walking away. the way she moped around made him feel like crowfood. but he genuinely couldn't convince himself to be happy about something like that. he had terrible skills with other cats. it was the same reason why he had few friends. he couldn't deal with the emotions of others. he would likely be alone for the rest of his life because of it.

"i, er, i'm sorry, wrenkit. do you still want to play hide-and-seek?" his day was going terribly already. all he wanted to do was be nice and talk to a kit. of course it ended up horribly. he couldn't wake up and get out of his nest without his day going wrong.

  • Silvertail heard his apology. she flicked her tail in acknowledgement and raced through the forest. She wanted to get her mind off of the fact that she had failed as a mentor. she caught wind of something but as soon as she smelled it she knew it wasn't prey. Foxdung! she hissed to herself. What's riverclan doing in our territory? she padded forward and saw that they were racing toward her camp. They're here to attack! How dare they when there is a gathering tonight! she hissed. She turned back and raced toward camp. as soon as she emerged from the tunnel she yowled a warning. "Riverclan is coming to attack! Everyone get out here now!" she yowled as she turned towards the tunnel to face her clans attackers.

(Adderstar is also the leader here, not Rainstar! + RiverClan won't really come to attack as, much like ThunderClan, characters are played by roleplayers.)

Olivebranch watched the whole exchange from her nice shady corner where she had been asking an NPC about Butterflysong. It seemed everyone had forgotten her already. Interesting. She would get up and nod to the NPC, telling him to be on his way before padding over to Partridgepaw and Wrenkit. "Oh, if you're playing hide and seek, can I play too? I'm not usually one to play, but...I could use the downtime."

  • Wrenkit listened to the exchange between the warrior and bit the inside of her lip. Was Patridgepaw too old or busy to play with her? That would be too bad, he seemed pretty nice, and it was always good to have an older friend to show you around and such.

Wrenkit smiled widely at Olivebranch as she came over "of course you can play with me and Patridgepaw!" She squealed, this would be like a full game of hide and seek! Of course, they'd have to leave before long, but this was gonna be long enough.

    "speech."

  • Whitepaw just watched the cats play. Oh Olivebranch was playing too? Why would a warrior play with kits? Apprentices had some excuse. It was rare for kits to play with someone other than kits. Whitepaw would never play with any kits.

  • As much as she wished she could be as cheerful as her sister, Cri was just way to anxious and emotional. She didn't mean to be such a downer and a crybaby, but she couldn't help it. She was easily scarred and easily upset, no matter how hard she tried to be unaffected by her surroundings. She sighed timidly from her spot at the nursery entrance, her mismatched optics following her sisters every move.

  • && The blue pointed tom had been close to the apprentice's den, laying down with his eyes closed. He hadn't meant to fall asleep, but it was a bit too cold to do much in the first place. His eyes opened when he heard Wrenkit, listening in on her conversation with Partridgepaw. He smiled and slowly stood up, stretching out his body and ignoring the slight stiffness in his limbs. That's what he gets for sleeping outside during the winter. He pads over to the small group and smiled, tail waving behind him. "I believe that I heard hide-and-seek? Would you mind me joining in? It's been ages since I've done anything that fun." That was a joke, of course, but he truly wanted to know if he would be able to participate in the game. He missed the age where they could just play all day long, without any worries. It was nice to play around every once in a while.

  • he uncomfortably glanced over at branchpaw, burning up in embarrassment. oh great, one of his denmates. and an elder denmate at that. whenever he was around other apprentices (especially toms) he always felt the need to act mature and preform his best. but he was about to play hide-and-seek with a kitten. and branchpaw. he would look so stupid! branchpaw would probably avoid talking to partridgepaw after this. he would think he was weird and strange and kit-like.

"hi, branchpaw," he murmured in greeting, giving a nervous twitch of his tail in greeting. "you would have to uh, have to ask wrenkit. she's in charge." the spotted tom wasn't sure if he would rather play with the other tom or not. who knew, maybe they would leave closer to each other. that would be nice.

  • Wrenkit smiled again and would pretend to study him, "hmmm, alright, you seem good enough to come in." Wrenkit smiled a little “I think that Branchpaw should count first!” [color=#FFFFFF]she announced and scattered off to go hide.
