  • It was almost midday when Anna first noticed the signs that something might have been wrong in Malie City. In her defence, she was rather tired at the time; early starts had never agreed with her, but such a thing had been necessary in order to reach the town in good time to meet with her brother. As it was, any plans were soon forgotten when a strange sound interrupted Anna's train of thought. She stopped, tilting her head to one side as she focused on the thing that had distracted her, then frowned as she realised what had caught her notice. A buzzing noise could be heard over the usual sounds of shoppers and travellers chatting to one another, starting quite subtly but quickly rising to a noticeable and almost uncomfortable level. Soon, all of the people around her had also stopped in the street, some raising their hands to their ears while others looked around for the source of the disturbance.

Nobody was ready for what happen next, and Anna herself could only watch with wide eyes as the air above them seemed to warp and change. Soon a brilliant white light began to shine at the centre of the twisting space, dulling only for a brief moment before bursting outwards. There were screams all around, and Anna found herself diving to the floor in an effort to avoid whatever was happening in the sky above her. For a moment all she could see were bright spots dancing across her vision, before she blinked her eyes and looked around her.

The lights had disappeared, and the warping in space had stopped too, but Anna quickly realised that whatever it was that had just appeared - some kind of portal? A rip in space? - had left a more permanent mark on the city. As the dust settled and people began to gather out in the street again, it was obvious that there were a lot less of them than there originally had been. Even a few pokemon had gone missing in the confusion, if the cries of their owners were anything to go by. Anna was glad that she had kept her team safe in their pokeballs. At this thought, however, a more sinister realisation crossed her mind: where was her little brother? She had agreed to meet Lucas outside of the restaurant in Malie, and had just caught sight of him when the incident had occurred. Now, he was nowhere to be seen.

Taking in a deep breath, Anna closed her eyes and tried not to panic. There had to be an explanation for this. She would not allow her little brother to go missing like so many other people had done over the last few weeks. No, she needed to find out what had happened, and bring him back. Opening her eyes again, she looked around the street with the intent to do just that. To her right a small crowd had started to gather, and Anna soon made her way over to where everyone was standing. Perhaps they would know what was going on.

PLOT: It has been two months since the Ultra Beasts first appeared, Lusamine's plans were ruined by a benevolent trainer, and that same trainer became the first champion of Alola's pokemon league. Since then life in Alola has been relatively peaceful, the natural tranquillity of the islands only being interrupted by rumours of strange, alien, creatures roaming the wilds. Even the infamous Team Skull has broken apart, the remaining members putting their skills towards a good cause rather than a wicked one.

Of course, this peace could never last. Recently, a series of mysterious disappearances has occurred, with people and pokemon all over the islands going missing in a blink of an eye. Even the legendary pokemon league champion has vanished, leaving their position at the league with no warning and no way of knowing where they have gone. The only thing connecting these people are the reports of strange lights and sounds in the area near to where they were last seen. So far, no one has been a witness to a disappearance, so these second-hand accounts have been all anyone has had to go by- until, that is, the event that just occurred in Malie City.

OTHER INFO: This thread is open to everyone! Just jump straight in with a brief character form (like the one below, though you can add more information if you want) and your post. Your character can have any background you want, any kind of pokemon you want (even legendaries, as long as they have a good reason for them to be on you character's team) and can be any age or skill level as long as they have a reason to be in Malie City when the portal opens. From there our characters will group together to investigate the disappearances and the rips in space that are responsible. There will probably be dimensional/regional travel involved at some point. I was thinking of maybe turning this into a crossover of sorts with some other fictional universes, too?

There aren't any specific rules for this thread, just use your common sense, don't start ooc drama, and follow feralfront rules, etc. etc. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]Tracking for now, I will make my forms shortly! I'm trying to get my computer to connect to my phone's hotspot so I can actually type properly. -3-'

  • No rush, technology can be a pain sometimes haha. Just jump straight in once you've made your forms! I think I'll probably stick to an auto-accept policy so any new peeps don't have to wait for ages for me to accept them.

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]Among the crowd stood a woman; she had an irritated expression upon her face, and was clearly unhappy about the sudden panic. This red-haired individual tsked quietly and rummaged through her white messenger bag, fishing out a Pokeball. Tossing it up into the air and catching it, the woman tried to keep herself entertained while listening to the uproar of alarmed voices erupt in the plaza. People were gone, pokemon were gone, and it was all because of that white light. What even was it, anyway? An Ultra Beast? She hadn't seen any after that trainer took down Lusamine a few months back. She grimaced at the thought of those things; what did beings as powerful as them want with her world, anyway? She grumbled irritably at the thought, and turning her gaze from the sky to the crowd, she watched the people with her intense red gaze. None of her pokemon had been taken and neither was she, but others were. Why did it choose them over her and the other people around? Was it random, or was it planned? She dismissed the thought with an angry grumble; brooding on it wouldn't bring those people and pokemon back. Closing her eyes and sighing quietly she pushed off of the wall she was leaning on, shoved the Pokeball back into her bag, then approached the crowd. She listened to their rambling with an annoyed expression upon her face, she didn't like being in crowds full of unfamiliar people, but if she wanted to find out the truth she'd have to deal with it. So, in an attempt to ease the awkward tension building up in her body, she decided to rummage through her bag. She wasn't missing anything, good.

  • As Anna stood at the edge of the group, she quickly realised that everyone was just as clueless as she was. The crowd seemed to be drawing more attention, at least, with people coming out of shops and restaurants just to see what all the noise was about. Hopefully, someone who could actually do something would arrive soon. Surely one of the Captains or the local law-enforcement had realised that something was wrong by now? She hated waiting, especially when her brother's safety was at stake.

Anna blinked as someone else made their way over to the group, momentarily distracting her from her other thoughts. She watched as they sorted through their bag, and realised that she had seen them briefly in the street before the sky had started to warp. Perhaps they had seen something she hadn't? "Uh, hey," the trainer began, shuffling a bit closer to the other girl so that she could talk clearly over the noise of the crowd. "Are you okay there? I saw you before the, ah, light thing. You aren't missing anyone, are you?"

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]The woman stared at the individual who approached her with a partially annoyed glance, but the majority of the emotion her intense red eyes held was bewilderment. Out of all the people here, why was she approached? She dismissed the thought for now. With a quiet grumble, she responded. "No, everyone is accounted for," she sighed, then glanced from her bag to the woman. "Are you missing anyone?" She inquired, tilting her head off to the side. "Whatever that thing was seemed to take both people and Pokémon, I wonder if there is some sort of pattern..."

While she waited for a response, the woman stared up at the sky for a few long moments, squinting due to the brightness. Would it come back? Would it take more people? Maybe, it would return them? She didn't know.

  • "My brother was supposed to be at the restaurant," Anna replied, "He must have disappeared in the light burst. Do you- do you think he might be-" she broke off with a wince, looking away from the stranger to glance around the street once more. Her eyes darted from person to person, all looking just as confused and anxious as she felt, before they finally settled back on the seemingly indifferent stranger in front of her. Although Anna's voice was strong, her twitching hands and shifting gaze betrayed some of her nervousness, a contrast to the other woman's air of calm curiosity and undisguised irritation.

Anna quickly shook herself, turning her mind away from some of her more morbid thoughts and back to her original question. "Did you see anything to do with how the people disappeared? You seem more - ah - collected than the other people here. I thought you might have some idea of what happened."

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]She fell silent for a moment and hummed subconsciously, delving deep into her thoughts. "I think the lights and disappearances has to do with the Ultra Beasts," she responded with a sigh, gesturing to the area where the sky first warped. "The sky warped when the Ultra Beasts arrived too, if I remember correctly," closing her eyes, she cradled her chin in-between her index finger and thumb, gently tapping it. Then, she opened her eyes and shrugged, sighing. "It could be anything though," she grumbled, crossing her arms and staring at the sky. It had been months since the Ultra Beasts first made an appearance in the region, and to her knowledge, she thought the Champion took care of all of them. Maybe there was another one that stayed behind, and made an appearance just now? If so, what did it want with the people and pokemon it took? Was it going to eat them? Transform them? Enslave them? The possibilities were endless, and her brain started to hurt. Grumbling quietly, she rubbed her temples in an attempt to alleviate the pain. "There are too many possibilities to list, but I'm sure at least someone knows what's going on," she sighed, then offered the woman an awkward smile. "Maybe we should find someone who does...any ideas?" she inquired, gazing around the crowd. Normally she'd ignore anyone around her, but if she wanted answers, she'd have to deal with a bit of cooperation. She subconsciously started to rummage through her bag again.

  • Anna nodded along with the other girl's reasoning, her mind clearing of doubt as she worked through the stranger's logic. The warping in the sky had been very similar to that described by those who had seen the Ultra Beasts appear, now that she thought back to that original incident. She hadn't seen any of the other-worldly creatures appear personally, but her brother had been witness to one arriving on the island of Melemele. Surely, the similarities between the events couldn't be a coincidence? It might be worth asking some of the people involved with the first Ultra Beast appearances, Anna figured, bringing her thoughts back to the problem at hand.

"Maybe we should ask someone who knows more about the Ultra Beasts?" Anna replied, encouraged by the stranger's smile, "One of the Captains, or perhaps one of the scientists or professors involved. Even if the Beasts aren't to blame for this, they probably have the resources necessary for finding the people who have disappeared. Besides, I don't think anyone here knows anything useful." There was still a crowd gathered, but nothing seemed to be happening despite the fact that the local law enforcement had now arrived to the scene. If she wanted to find her brother, Anna figured that she would have to do so without their help.

OOC: There aren't any requirements in terms of literacy for this thread, though it would be nice to see more than a couple of sentences per post. Enough for other people to respond to, at any rate c:

  • A trainer walks over to the two, missing the whole fiasco. He did see the mob of people however. He was confused on what was going on, walking into the mob to try and get some answers. He first took a look around the group, only seeing terror. That is, until he say the two having a conversation. He walked up to them, as it looked like they were the most approachable at the moment.

"Do either of you know what this mob is about?"

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]Before Seraph could respond to the trainer, another individual spoke up, catching her attention. Gazing at them from the corner of her eye she quieted a brow in confusion. How didn't he see the light? "Did you not see the light?" she inquired, frowning subtly. "The sky warped and flashed us all with some sort of bright light, and when it cleared, both people and Pokémon went missing," she gestured to the panic around her, "including her brother."

Looking back at the woman before her, Seraph's stoic expression was replaced by a lazy grin. "I'm pretty sure the Aether foundation knows something about the Ultra Beasts, Lusamine was accociated with them, after all," she hummed, rummaging through her bag in search of something. After a few moments, she fished out a pokeball. "Got any flying Pokémon?" She chuckled, clicking the button on her pokeball. With a flash of red light, her Aerodactyl appeared. He gazed around, clearly confused. "I'll tell you later," she told him, to which he responded with a low growl.

The woman then turned her gaze back to the man, and fully turning her body around this time, she gestured to her dual-type Pokémon. "You should come too, the more the merrier I guess," she hummed, subconsciously petting her purple pokemon's head while speaking.

  • The trainer looked more confused now. Light? Missing? The 'ell could have happened? He thought as he sighed.

"Sure. Didn't have anything planned anyway. Can I get a name?"

  • Anna started slightly when the newcomer approached them, before frowning and noting the air of confusion about him. "Good idea," she replied to the other girl after they had finished explaining the situation to the new trainer and suggested a plan. "The Aether Paradise should have some answers to something, what with all the strange rumours about that place."

When her new companion summoned her aerodactyl, Anna quickly followed suit and released her toucannon from its pokeball. She hoped that the newcomer also had a flying pokemon, though she supposed that Pokemon Ride was always a transport option if all else failed. At the stranger's last question, she turned back to consider him for a couple of moments before replying; "Anna. And this is-" she broke off mid-gesture, her hand pointing uselessly at the other girl as Anna realised that they hadn't actually introduced themselves before now. "Uh, I'm not actually sure who this is," she finished lamely, lowering her arm as she did so.

OOC: I'm totally going with the game-logic of flying pokemon being able to lift anything. If nothing else, just picturing someone trying to fly on a pidgey is amusing

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]The woman couldn't help but chuckle when her newfound companion, Anna, tried to introduce her without even knowing her name. "It's Seraph," she hummed, amusement clear in her tone. Maybe the whole "being friendly" thing wasn't so bad after all. Usually, the thought itself would make her cringe. With a huff of effort Seraph climbed onto her Aerodactyl's back, and he instinctively spread his wings. The fossil Pokémon was clearly itching to fly; ever since Seraph decided to start traveling on foot, he rarely ever got the chance to do so. Growling quietly he began to shift his feet, his wings twitching subtly. His gaze was directed at the newcomer, waiting for him to respond. The Pokémon was clearly getting impatient.

Gazing at the newcomer as well, Seraph rested her elbow on the Aerodactyl's head and placed her own in her hand, staring at him. "Now that you know who we are, who are you?"

//The concept is amusing. I'd guess you'd ride it like you would a skateboard or something, but even then, it would still be pretty funny to look at.

  • "My name is Ahi."

Ahi looked through his Pokeballs and just sighed.

"I dont have any flying type..."

After saying this he finds his ride pager. Holding it up, he continues the sentence.

"I have this to use I guess. Its better then nothing."

  • Anna noted the device and nodded. "Pagers are useful things," she agreed, thinking back to all the mischief that her little brother had gotten up to thanks to a similar device. Her poor toucannon had spent almost an entire afternoon being chased around by Lucas' charizard before Anna had realised and managed to call it off, and as a result the flying type had been wary of the draconic pokemon ever since.

The toucannon in question nudged at her side, bringing her nostalgic thoughts back to the present. Right. They had a goal to reach, and standing around wouldn't help any of the missing people. Without further delay, Anna mounted her flying companion and got ready to take off, turning to her new allies as she did so. "Pleased to meet you Ahi, Seraph," she began, matching the other girl's tone of amusement as she nodded in her direction, "Now that we're all properly acquainted, shall we be off?"

Underneath her Anna's toucannon shifted impatiently, eager to be off the ground. His gaze had settled on the other flying pokemon, and the large bird seemed to be inspecting them with undisguised curiosity.

  • [fancypost=background-color:transparent; border-width: 0px; text-align: justify; font-size: 11px;]"Well, now that we're all ready, to the Aether Paradise!" Seraph announced with a subtle chuckle, and without any further delay, her Aerodactly emitted a gleeful hum and rocketed into the air with one powerful beat of his membranous wings. A joyful expression was upon his muzzle; he always enjoyed the wind caressing his pale purple scales. Moments like these were a rare occurance nowadays, and he had to enjoy them while they lasted. A cheerful noise escaped his maw as he quickened up his pace, spreading his wings even further.

Even though her Aerodactly seemed to be having the time of his life at the moment, Seraph was practically frozen. Secretly, she hated flying, especially at speeds like this. Being over the ocean made it worse. Gazing into the deep blue waves, a low groan of discomfort rumbled from her throat as she watched the churning water below her, and her grip tightened.

  • Ahi started flying the Charazard to the manufactured island. The Charazard just groaned. This was his job. He might not have necessarily enjoyed it, but he did'nt downright hate it either. Ahi was just yawning. Flying takes abit, so he thought he should relax.
