  • (I would so do that with Orion but she just did it so she wouldn't really have a reason to right now XD)

"Hmm...that'd make sense. Would the number have to add up to 4? Or something?" Orion was basically guessing at this point. Usually, she's rather skilled in math, but right now, she was very confused and unsure of what was the right action to do.

"Hm, it'd be impossible to make four numbers add up to four on their own if numbers weren't allowed to repeat." Lucky answered, placing their hand on the scanner. A second asterisk lit up the screen, but nothing changed when they tried to scan their bracelet again. "No duplicates. But we could still try and see if it just needs four people." They suggested, looking back at the others in the room, waiting to pull the lever again.

((One pad per door. Truth x'D I'd hate to see a germaphobe in 999. Especially if someone got eliminated, hoo boy.))

  • Tetra pressed his hand into the indentation again, watching apathetically as a third asterisk appeared. "It's like one of those codes, where you enter your Pin or something, and they all show up as stars."

"And one more?" Lucky asked, scanning the room for anyone that would be willing to offer their hand. Tetra was right, it did remind them of a pin number type machine. Perhaps something like that was the key to opening it up?

((All puzzles behind Door 4 and 5 have been added to the puzzle thread, if you'd like to look and start planning ahead. c: ))

  • (Even if we solve it, the door won't open. the game hasn't begun yet. they're just testing out theories. I hope they get it wrong, because I know that if I were Tetra, and the solution was right, but counted as wrong because it was too early, he wouldn't ever think of that solution again, having already considered it wrong.)

((At this point, you'd need a 6 + 8, 7 + 8, or just a 6. But yes, even if they do get it right, the only response given would be an 'Early Start Error' as Zero hasn't explained the rules yet. C: ))

  • (Which is going to be in the Majors Voice from Hellsing in my head)

Sophia sighed slightly, walking over to the door and mimicking the movements of the others "I hope this does something... Maybe whoever kidnapped us is behind here." Her face lit up slightly at the thought, as she ran all the methods of killing this mystery person in the most painful ways she knew through in her head.

  • (So, in all, 3, 4, 7, 9 have been entered, which equals 23 which then equals 5. but add an 8, and the number becomes 31, which is 4. So, Kayla can't put her hand. In other news, is Toby on?)

((I don't think a person with the 7 bracelet registered? Also, if the person whom hasn't finished their bios doesn't finish sometime tonighthis, I'm going to have Zero explain the game anyway. Sorry, but I need to get things up and moving or this thread is going to die. XC However, if the person drops out, I'll allow people to create characters over them since it's this early in the game. They will just have to say they got out of the room just as the teams entered the doors. And yes, like Spud said, 3-5 people to a door.))

((My bad, didn't see the "mimicking the movements of others" part. XC my phone cuts off some of posts unless I force desktop mode, guess it turned off and didn't realize.))

“You may all continue to converse in a moment. I must speak.” A cold, unidentifiable voice hissed from a large, speaker like intercom.

“Welcome aboard. I welcome you all, from the bottom of my heart, to this, my vessel. I am Zero. The Captain of this ship. I am also the person that invited you here.” The voice was harsh, occasionally obscured by a crackle of static.

“I mean to have you participate in a game. Some of you, I know, are familiar with this game. The Nonary Game. It is a game where you will put your life on the line. The Rules of the Nonary Game can be found upon your persons. They are simple rules. Read them.”

Sure enough, where your cellphone used to be but now proved to be absent, was a piece of folded paper. Upon opening, you could see the rules of the game.

    The paper read:
On this ship, you will find a handful of doors emblazoned with numbers. We will call them the numbered doors. The doors in front of you are a pair of the same. The key to opening these numbered doors are the numbered bracelets that each of you possess. If you attempt to remove the bracelet, you will be eliminated. There are only two ways to remove the bracelet, leave the ship, or let your heart rate reach zero.
Should you total the numbers on your numbered bracelets, and find that the digital root of those numbers is equal to the number on that door, that door will open. Only those who have opened the door may pass through.
There are, however, limits. Only 3-5 people can pass through one numbered door. All those who enter must leave, and all those who enter must contribute.
The purpose of the game is simple. Leave this ship alive. It is hidden, but an exit can be found. Seek a way out… Seek a door that carries 9.

You finished reading the letter, and the others around did the same. There was a moment of silence while everyone finished up, and then the speaker crackled back to life.

“There is one more thing I must tell you.” It said. “As you have no doubt surmised, the ship has begun to sink. On April 14th, 1912, the famous ocean liner Titanic crashed into an iceberg. After remaining afloat for 2 hours and 40 minutes, it sank beneath the waters of the North Atlantic. I will give you more time. 9 hours. That is the time you will be given to make your escape.”

The voice finished, and the speaker went silent. The sound of a bell tolling echoed through the hall. It came from the dance hall adjacent to the stairwell. It took those around mere seconds to trace the sound to a clock embedded in the wall. 7… 8… 9… The sound of the 9th bell faded away. The tenth never came. That meant the time was 9 o clock. Most likely, 9 o clock in the evening. If that was the case, then they would have to escape by 6 am the following day.

“Now it is time.” The voice started up again. “Let our game begin. I wish you all the best of luck. Your comrades with the bracelets 2 and 6 are having trouble with their doors. They may not make it.” The speaker went silent, and did not speak again.

  • (Oooooh crap. My heart goes out to 2 and 6.)

Orion was rendered completely speechless throughout the entire ordeal. She looked at the bracelet, then to the door, then to the speaker, and finally, down to her letter. She summed up her distraught thoughts with one word:
    "What."

  • Tetra couldn't put it better himself. He decided not to honk of 2 and 6, instead beginning to think how to get out. "So, how does this fuckin work?" He asked finally. "Some of is weren't born with a math degree in our head, you know."
(I will make bracelet 2 if you desire, and feyn hasn't done anything.)
