  • For a month it had been in stasis, nothing more than a ball of shadows and stardust tinged purple, blue, and pink, glimmering ceaselessly as it drifted along. Boneclan had bored it quickly, leaving it to depart without a word and take a fair bit of time to recuperate in the aforementioned fashion, for believe it or not it was still quite young despite its ageless nature. Created so recently, left to fend for itself. Not that it really had much of an issue in doing such, considering it couldn't exactly be touched, but it digressed.

It was still getting used to sustaining a definite form, and so the writhing mass tried its best to shape itself a head as it continued on towards Windclan's land. Eyes. Eyes are a must. How else would it be able to see? Funny, it had thought the same thing when it first came into this world through means unknown even to itself. They were perhaps the easiest feature to create and retain. And so it did; in an instant, a pair of round white optics, large and uncanny, framing slit pupils of pitch black. Though tendrils of twinkling shadow coated it and obstructed its view, it could see clearly past them. Yes, this works. Now what else? It crossed over the border as it pondered, oblivious due to its lack of a nose. Granted, it could sense the presence of other beings some way off, though it chose to ignore this information for the time being; there were more pressing matters to attend to. Myself, of course. I need a snout. And so it sprouted one, trying once more to recreate the memory of the Boneclanners it had encountered, though once more it failed in doing so. Its muzzle was long and thin, tipped with a large, shadowy nose. Close enough.

At this point, it was simply a small cloud, possessing a grotesque, canid face and nothing more as it floated onward.

  • Well this was new. Henry had been on a walk, trying to calm down considering all the recent events. Not only within the clan but also within his life. He had been captured, tortured, and forcibly been injected with hallucinogens which had forced him to live out his nightmares. It hadn't been fun. Then Cherviltea had passed. It was all so much to take in. He needed to breath. However, he was quite shocked to find a... floating face. He had seen many odd things since arriving in this world but this was new. "Uh, hello? Can I help you?" The medic apprentice called, making his way towards the odd being in confusion.

  • [center][fancypost= bg color;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Takumi had remained either in his home or out at his archery range since Cherviltea's death, but no matter his feelings, he had duties to attend to. And damn if he wasn't going to attend to them. He'd been meandering along the border, amber gaze cast carelessly over the frozen terrain beneath his feet, deep within his own thoughts. So deep, in fact, that he'd nearly run into - or through? - Zilch. Just inches from the strange being, his eyes widened and he yelped, hopping back near Jekyll. Luckily the boy was quick to regain composure, and he heaved a soft sigh. "W-What the... um, I mean... who...?" He stammered. To be honest, he had no clue how to speak to this... cloud with a face.

  • A snort of laughter rang out, though its mouth never moved. Through wide eyes it stared up at the pair, hovering motionless as it observed their rather humorous reactions to its presence. Eventually its shadowy maw curled upward in a wry smile, its illusionary skin peeled away in some places where it shouldn't have been to reveal glttering incisors. "Why? Do I look like I need help?" Once more its jaws remained frozen, its hollow voice projected via telepathy. The amused expression never left its disconcerting face, however. "Are you two part of a clan? Like the Boneclan? I'm awfully bored on my own." Its unblinking gaze locked on Henry as it spoke, and slowly it began to sprout thin, rather puppyish legs tipped with rounded paws that hovered just above the ground. "Does this look right? I'm still getting the hang of mortal bodies. Don't think I'll be able to shake the shadows, though." There was an odd, indescrible note in its tone. Had it known how to, it would have shrugged. Another chuckle could be heard as it looked over at Takumi. "Who, me? I'm nothing. I just am."

  • Henry shivered slightly as it's voice entered his mind. He didn't like that at all. He had enough problems when Hyde was making stupid comments in his head, he didn't need another one there too. Still, he supposed he could get used to it. As odd as this creature was, it didn't seem violent or, in the very least, it didn't have any ill will towards him specifically which was good enough for him. "Um, maybe? I mean, no offense, but, you're sort of missing a few, um, body parts," He answered, watching the creature carefully. "Yes. We're part of Windclan," He would then answer with a light nod. As it's gaze locked on him, Jekyll couldn't stop the chill that ran through his body. "Uh, yes. You're still missing quite a bit, though on the rest of your body," He'd answer, looking at the legs and then wiggling his own toes a bit. "Well, what should we call you? Just, uh, Nothing?" He would then ask.

  • [center][fancypost= bg color;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Takumi winced. Like Jekyll, he wasn't entirely keen on the whole concept of telepathy. It reminded him of the time he'd been possessed, used to kill his clanmates, and- he gave his head a gentle shake, focusing once more on Zilch. he'd borne witness to plenty of strange things during his time in the clans, but this had to be one of the strangest. He could only watch, mouth slightly parted in awe, as the creature formed legs out of thin air. ...Huh. "It looks great," he offered, though his voice cracked quite obviously. He tried to recollect himself. "Er, y-yeah. What he said. You can stay, but you might wanna... shape your body first. If you can do that. C-Can you do that?"

  • It didn't miss their reactions to its voice inside their heads; in fact, it only amused them more. How strange, mortals were. To think Zilch was enough to squick them out, when they had yet to meet the rest of its outlandish family. Well, it could barely remember its parents and siblings at this point so it wasn't entirely certain as to what they all looked like, but it was certain that it wasn't alone in its peculiarity. What it knew for certain that to meet both Death and the void themselves would certainly give these two a fright, considering the way they were responding to Zilch.

It tilted its ill-defined head when Henry and Takumi spoke once more, referring to its body parts, or lack thereof. "You're not very convincing, you know," it told Takumi in response to his hesitant compliment, letting out a telepathic bark of laughter. "Oh, right. Honestly, I like my original form better since it's a lot easier to maintain, but I'm feeling generous." It glanced back and forth between the pair once it finished, thoughtful. "I like your ears better," it informed Takumi, and then proceeded to sprout a pair of twinkling ears of its own, triangular and erect like a feline's, albeit they were a bit taller than your average moggy. "What else?" After a moment, it drifted closer to examine both of their physiques, and with a fair bit of effort shaped a torso for itself, and then a thin, scraggly tail. As a final touch, it flexed each paw, and each one split apart at the ends to form clawed toes. "I think that's the best I can do." it declared with a frown, reaching out to touch Takumi with its muzzle. The star-speckled shadows that made up its snout dispersed as it made contact with the feline, and it pulled back with a dissatisfied noise, allowing its face to reform.

"I'll stay in your Windclan, then. Funny name. Why'd you call it that?" it asked, although its inquiry was quickly forgotten when its name was brought into question. "No, Death named me Zilch, so call me that." If truth be told, it failed to see the humour in its name, for no one had ever thought to define the term for it to hear. "What're your names?"

  • As the creature continued to examine them and adjust it's body, the canine anxiously kneaded his paws against the ground. "Uh, well, you look very nice. You have a complete body, now, so that's pretty nice," Jekyll stated. At the question regarding why they called it Windclan, he simply shrugged. "I don't know. Because it's a clan and we live on a plain so it tends to be windy, I guess," He answered. Ugh, Death. That creature had been here before and Henry didn't care to think about it. It made him uncomfortable for a number of reasons, all of which were probably quite obvious. He had a much better time dealing with this being than that. "Alright then, it's a pleasure to meet you Zilch," He stated with a light nod. He wasn't really sure if it was a pleasure to meet this being but he tried not to be too pessimistic about the other. After all, he couldn't base his opinion of it solely on the fact it was rather odd. "I'm Henry Jekyll, though I usually just go by my surname," He answered.

  • "Good to hear," said Zilch dryly. "I suppose that makes sense. Do you think the wind will mess up my form? That would suck; I worked hard on it." For it to be broken apart by a gust of air would certainly be a shame, although it really didn't look as though it had put much effort into piecing itself together. But it had, and that was what mattered. His lack of a reaction when one of its parents was brought up surprised Zilch momentarily, although it soon figured that Death might have been here before. They wouldn't have been surprised; it felt like ages since they had seen them, so it didn't doubt they had taken to travelling. Did it really want to see Death, though, or Lirim? No, it didn't think so. "You too, Henry," it responded with a sardonic, toothy grin. And then it turned to Takumi once more, awaiting an answer to its question.

  • [center][fancypost= bg color;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Takumi pouted. Not convincing? He may have offered a protest, but the thought was knocked from his mind as soon as Zilch moved closer, as if it were examining them. He immediately felt uncomfortable under this thing's stare, and he frowned, his gaze averting to his forepaws. He drew in a breath when Zilch grew out its ears; an exact replica of his own, but taller and a different color. It was beginning to look like a strange cat-dog hybrid. He... didn't like it. Nope. Noooot natural. "You... sorta look like a real animal now."

The boy's eyes bugged in surprise; he could only watch Zilch lean forward and touch its nose to his. "Hey!" Strangely enough, its face dissipated as soon as it made contact. All he felt was a cool breeze that made his nose twitch. He scowled; he felt like Zilch was messing with him. "...Takumi. Takumi Hoshidan. I'm an advisor here, so let me know if you need anything." It was typical for Takumi to be suspicious of new joiners, but this creature made him all the more skeptical. He would have to keep an eye on it, lest his paranoia take over.

    / i love zilch omg

  • He hadn't seen the floating head which was certainly good, it'd probably have just made him laugh honestly. "Hello, I didn't catch your name," Astra greeted the stranger, "but I go by Astra. Though my names Astralprojection, so you can probably see why I need a nickname." He smiled though it was just a bit forced. With everything going on he wasn't really a smiley guy anymore, sadly. "I'm an advisor which is kinda of like...Uh, nevermind. Anyway, do you, uh, need anything?" Why was he always so host-y whenever he talked to joiners? Like the fakest, most overworked waitress ever. Whatever. He was so annoying.

  • /ty lmao, its my asshole child and i love it

"Sort of?" it echoed, and there was a note of indignance in its eerie voice. "Gee, thanks. What, would you rather I look like this?" Although the rather unimpressive size of its newly-made body remained the same, their canine teeth suddenly grew until they were reminiscent of those of a sabre tooth tiger, and with an irritated huff they sprouted a pair of swirling horns and large, bat-like wings. Its catlike pupils began to glow a bright red, and it snapped its teeth before Takumi, using sound manipulation to create its own sound effect. But then its modifications dissolved, and once more it looked like a ghostly puppy-kitten hybrid. "I would've held that form for longer if I could've."

It sneered upon noticing Takumi's discomfort, but before it could comment on it, someone else arrived. "I'm Zilch. Hm, yeah, that's a bit of a mouthful." it mused. "Advisors, huh? What kinda advice do you guys give? Oh! I almost forgot, I've got a surname, too: Break." Uttering the name only soured its mood further. "But that's not important. Zilch sounds much better, don't you think?" Then it paused to consider Astra's offer. "No, I think I'm fine."

  • Did it... just refer to him by his first name because he specifically said he went by his surname? He supposed it didn't really matter but he should have seen it coming based on this creature's precious behavior. When it's form suddenly changed to a large beast of some sort, Jekyll's eyes widened in terror and he took several steps back, flinching as it snapped it's teeth. Oh boy, this was going to be fun. "I'm glad you can't," He muttered, not really intending for the newcomer to hear him. When the child began talking about its name, Jekyll found himself nodding in agreement. "Well, I suppose you should know I'm the medic apprentice. Well, one of them. I don't know if you really get hurt or sick or anything but if you do, just let me know."

  • [center][fancypost= bg color;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Takumi took a weary step back, noting the tone in Zilch's voice. At the abrupt shift in form of the other creature, his instincts kicked in and he twisted to reach behind him for the mystic bow slung over his shoulders. As if reacting to his emotions, the string of his bow seemed to glow suddenly brighter. As soon as Zilch returned to its usual appearance he forced himself to calm down and turned back around to face it, lips drawn back in an irritated snarl. He gave a small hiss. "Don't scare me like that!" he snapped, slowly letting go of his weapon.

Luckily, Astra seemed to capture the thing's attention after that. Takumi would remain, only because he was highly suspicious of Zilch. It seemed volatile, like it didn't care very much for the WindClanners it was about to live with. He pouted, still watching like a hawk - but admittedly upset that he'd been toyed with.

  • Instead of the usual snort, Zilch began to guffaw at Takumi's panicked response to its sudden change in appearance. Its mocking, childish laughter rang out for all to hear, and white its large eyes narrowed slightly (an effect created not by eyelids, but by the shadows that engulfed them) in amusement and it could be seen smiling, there was no indication that it was even breathing. Its entire body remained still save for the writhing tendrils of shadow and stardust, and the contrast made for a rather disturbing scene. It was as though the trio were speaking with a ghost. Was it a ghost? Zilch wasn't sure. No, impossible. I can't die. Bummer. "Man, I wish I could've stayed like that," it chortled. "You're funny, Takumi. I should call you Kuku." It sounded like cuckoo.

And then it addressed Jekyll. "No, I can't get hurt. I can't even touch anything." It didn't sound too pleased by this, frankly, and yet at the same time it seemed almost proud of its immunity. "I don't think I can get sick, either. Sometimes I don't even think I'm real."

  • [center][fancypost= bg color;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Takumi felt his face grow warm at the other's laughter, and he scoffed, turning away. Zilch was, without a doubt, messing with him. It seemed to have taken a liking to him, or at least a liking to making fun of him, which was not good. It was like Danse all over again - sort of. "N-No! No. Kuku is, like, the worst nickname you could possibly use. If you have to, use Taku or something," he muttered, flattening his ears. His words were probably in vain, but he could at least try.

He would probably leave soon, if nothing else happened. Zilch seemed to be settling in, and Takumi was feeling a strange combination of annoyed and freaked out. He could check up on their freaky newest member later and make sure it wasn't trying anything.
