How does blocking work? On the old site I only heard of "banning" people from threads, but to what extent does blocking do here

So I blocked you, and before the site crashed I tried a few things. I -could- follow you, and I sent you a message through a conversation, but if you didn't get it to then it must have blocked it. So from my end, it looks like you can still do things, but it doesn't let you contact me and such. But the site did crash, so did you want to try it again?

From what dynamo said before, I don't think you can ban people from your threads, which is unfortunately the only reason I used the blocking feature, to keep people who made me uncomfortable away from my threads; but I think its supposed to keep them from messaging you?

Pretty much. They can still do what they wish they just can't contact you through messages and such. I haven't tried it yet so I can be positive on anything.

From what you know; is it possible to keep specific people off your threads by any other means? By which I mean specific; not Everyone in general, which is what private labelling would generally do

ah, ty tho! i guess the idea is that if you have someone harassing you they wont do it in public? still a bit sad though bc my issue is more with past associations/anxiety than said member actually breaking the rules @ me

I think it must be something difficult to get, or was buggy? because I've never found another forum since that lets you do that. it was something almost unique to ff that I really appreciated tbh

I think the whole making threads 'private, hidden or invite only' was very buggy in the old ff page
