  • "and even when your hope is gone, move along, move along, just to make it through"

    Katie Millán has had a rough life.
    After her father gave up his parenting rights, she and her mother had to move into a small apartment on the south side of town. The school district isn't the best, and neither are the influence of drugs and gang affiliation but that's what she deals with. You come into her life as she's walking down the hallway, well.. running into her. You are one of the popular guys, never really associating with her crowd until now. A friendship is formed, how will this end?

  • Hey, I'd love to do this, if you'd give me a second to get my character ready.

  • Awe thank you!

    Here he is in all his glory

  • the bean

    Awesome! I'll start!

    As I sat in the middle of first hour, I slipped my sweatshirt over my head and winced as I was taunted from the back of the room. Calls of "Aye chica!" were quietly yelped, I sighed and placed my head on my desk and shoved my hands into my pocket. I listened to the lesson, beginning to take quiet notes as I bit down on my bottom lip.

  • Jake, on my right, and Elliot, ahead of me, both cried out softly at Katie. I rolled my eyes, a small gesture to keep myself from snapping at them. The voices droned out and my attention drifted to the notebook in front of me. Keeping my writing as secret as I could with Jake joggling my arm every two seconds, I scribbled out a few lines. I didn't really like that I did this, wrote this. Poetry isn't exactly considered the most manly of hobbies, so they were hidden away in a plain spiral-bound notebook, inconspicuously tucked between a few other plain notebooks. Most of them were garbage anyway.

  • I looked up from my notes and looked back at the two who were calling out to me, I sighed and rolled my eyes. Staring down at my phone for a minute and seeing the bell was about to ring, I closed my notebook and stuffed it into my bag along with the other various assortment of things. I bounced my knee and listened to the end of the lesson, slightly flinching as the bell rung and students began to get up and leave the room. I stood, along with the many others in the room, getting shoved and jostled lightly as they began to file out of the room.

  • I leave the classroom fairly quickly, leaving Jake and Elliot behind for a moment. They catch up quickly, chortling about some joke between the two. "Hi, Finn." A syrupy sweet high pitched voice fills my ears, and I notice a girl standing in front of me, batting her eyelashes obnoxiously. I don't know her name, so I just respond with a simple "Hello." and move to go around her. She grabs my arm and I tense, turning around to face her. "A few of us are having a party-" I don't really listen to the rest, it's always the same. The party is going to be crazy and great and full of drugs and alcohol and hormonal teenagers. "I don't think so." I politely smile and walk away. "FInn, c'mon man, let's go." Elliot says, walking beside me. "No." I reply. "I don't want to. You can go though."

  • As I began to leave, I kept my head down and stared at the floor while I walked to my next class. Then, it happened, I ran into a solid figure and dropped my things onto the ground. I just about started to cry before I started apologizing profusely and crouching down to grab my things, my cheeks lighting up to a bright red. "I'm so sorry, so so sorry." I continued as I picked up my papers.

  • I had zoned out when we ran into each other, and her things fell out of her hands.I crouched down beside her, helping her pick them all up. "Don't worry about it." I said, a small smile on my face when I saw her blushing cheeks. I picked up the last paper, and stood back up. "Katie, right?" I asked.

  • "Y-yeah.. And you're.. Finn?" She questioned quietly, taking the last paper that he had and moved over to the side of the hall so she could put the things into her bag.

  • "Yeah. I am." I follow her across the hall subconsciously, curious about her. "So, tell me a bit about yourself, Katie." I ask, stuffing my hands into the pockets of my worn black jeans. I'm not usually this... interested... in girls, and I feel a bit like I'm catching myself offgaurd.

  • I blushed even harder, "Uh, well... my name is Katie Milàn, I'm 18, I really don't have many friends, my cat is my only friend to be honest. Shit, that made me sound really lame." I giggled a bit and shuffled my feet. "Say, you wanna skip this hour with me? We can talk more if you want?"

  • I thought for a moment, “Yeah, I do.” I walked with her down the hall for a moment before asking her another question. “So, Katie Millàn, what’s your cat’s name?” I might have a weakness for cats, okay?
    //kinda busy, sorry for shortie-ness.

  • I smiled softly, "His name is Bagheera, like from The Jungle Book." I answered and adjusted my flannel. I snuck out the doors quickly, waiting by my car for Finn to catch up. "Here's a picture of him" I scrolled through my phone for a minute and showed a picture of a fluffy black kitten with big ears and yellow eyes.

  • She went on ahead of me, Elliot stopped me for a quick conversation. I walked out the door, and over to where she was standing.I smiled at the picture, leaning against what I assumed was her car gently. “He’s really cute. My sister has wanted a kitten for a long time now.”

  • "Oh, has a sister.. She's in at the shelter now waiting to be adopted." I said with a small smile, opening up the passenger door for him and moved to the driver's side and got in. "C'mon, we're going to walgreens."

  • OOOOH sorry, I thought I had replied, sorry!!

    ================

    I opened my mouth to say something, but I closed it again, shaking my head and getting into the car. "Walgreens?" I smirked, closing the passenger door. My mind flashed to Bea, my sister, talking about how she would love a cat, especially a kitten, to keep her company when she was alone.

  • // s'all good dude

    I started the car and looked over at him, "Yep, cheap ice cream and plastic spoons" I grinned. I began to back out of my parking spot, turning the corner and pulling into the street and drove in the direction of the nearest Walgreens. "Do you want to listen to anything, like on pandora or something?"
