  • Lyndsey Gunnulfsen

    Nicknames: Lynn Gunn

    Gender: Female

    Age: 17

    Sexuality: Lesbian

    House: Gryffindor

    Year: Seventh

Wand: Sycamore wood with a Unicorn hair core 12" and Unbending flexibility

Date of birth: March 15th, Eid Mar

    Place of birth: Birmingham

    Type (Muggleborn, half-blood, pureblood): Muggleborn

Pet (type of cat, toad, owl, or rodent): Black Cat, named Shadow. Very cuddly and sweet.

Personality: Lynn is usually very calm and collected in difficult situations but she can be quite belligerent at times. Her aggressive side can appear funny or scary depending on how you look at it. She's also very very open minded, open hearted, and understanding. It depends on her mood (Which usually also depends on whether she had time to freshen up that morning, rather than wake up late and rush to classes. The latter is usually the case.) Lynn can occasionally get philosophical. She thinks about deep sh*t sometimes. Her face tends to twitch a lot when she's getting really into her thoughts. She's smart, but she enjoys the more physical side of her talents so she prefers spending her free time dueling or playing quidditch. This means she doesn't study as much as she should so her grades may be lacking. Sometimes she purposely picks fights with people because she loves the thrill of dueling, but she tries to avoid getting into trouble because she'd rather not spend all her time in detention. The combination clearly doesn't work very well. Despite her slight aggression, she's actually extremely nice and caring. She thinks about others and puts their needs before hers. If they have earned her respect or shown her any respect at all, she can be the sweetest soul you know. However, she can sometimes act very childish, impatient, etc. which leads to her jumping to conclusions. She's more of a Act first, Questions later kind of gal, which can obviously lead to some bad situations.

History: Her and her family have a bit of bad blood, her brother being the only accepting one in her family. Being gay was more of a shock to them than being a witch was. Her dad was obnoxious about it, and her mom never tried to stop him, so she wasn't too fond of either of them, but her brother was always sweet to her and never treated her differently. She loves her brother. Her family's a little broken, but hey! Most families are. So Lynn tries not to dwell on it. When she received the notice for the Witch-craft and wizarding school, she thought it was a prank at first, laughing it off. Turns out it wasn't. She wasn't very good at making friends at the school, due to her aggression and the fact that she tends to avoid talking to other students unless she's picking a fight.

Family: Father (Peter) and step mom (Susan). She also has an older brother Nathaniel. All Muggles

Likes: Music, good vibes, drawing, dueling/picking fights, respect.

Dislikes: Doing nothing productive/helpful in a difficult situation, people who are rude to her or others, raisins, crying in front of others.

Strengths: Lynn is fast and has good reflexes. Qualities of a good chaser. She's also really good at dueling if she has a purpose. Most of the time she doesn't, she's just causing trouble because she's reckless, but with a purpose, Lynn is very strong. She's also good at talking and understanding others emotions, she just doesn't like socializing.

Weaknesses: Trying to annoy her might set her off, or talking about things she's failed at (Battles, duels, relationships, etc.) She doesn't like being reminded of her mistakes so bringing it up might make her aggressive. It's almost too easy to make her angry. While she may have fast reflexes, Lynn also over estimates her dueling abilities so half the time she loses the duels. Depends on who she's dueling really.

Turn ons: being cute and kind and understanding. Simple small things like playing with her hair or little kisses, etc. Thinking everything she does is cute, even when she's angry.

Turn offs: Being obnoxious/condescending/thinking they're better than. Being awkward around her. No hygiene. Ignoring when someone's hurting (Emotionally or physically)

    Patronus: Red Panda

  • — Avery Renee Chamberlain

    — Female

    — Recently turned eighteen.

    — Homosexual - Homoromantic

    — Ravenclaw

    — Seventh year

    — Pureblood

    Head girl

    — Ebony wand wood, 11 inches, dragon heartstring core, rigid flexibility

    — Birthday is September 17th

    — Born in London, England

    Her patronus is a fox.

    — She's a registered animagus. Her animagus form is the same as her patronus.

    — She has a pet owl named Zodiac (or just Zo for short). She's a barn owl with a bit of a temper to strangers, but is nice to people who she's more used to. At her actual house though, Avery has dog, since she's honestly more of a dog person, including her family. Really more of a dog person, but cats are cool too. At home she has a blue merle border collie named Zulu.

    — She has a pretty average family. Both of her parents are of course of the wizarding world. Her mother, Emily, works for the Department of Secrets, while her father, Charles, works for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She has two brothers, one of them older, and another one younger. Her older brother, Colin, is a twenty-one year old Ravenclaw alumni who is a magizoologist. Her younger brother is a Gryffindor in his fifth year, whose name is Aiden. He's pretty much an angsty teenager who is also one of the seekers on Gryffindor's quidditch team.

Although she does think dueling people is fun, her best and most favorite class would probably have to be transfiguration. On the other hand, she hates herbology with a burning passion. She hates it more than both muggle and wizarding history, which bores her to death. One good thing that did come out of muggle studies was her liking for muggle rock music, however.

She's totally that type of person who will still get a 100 even if they didn't study for a test or end up making/doing something great with little effort

Avery is a pretty calm and individualistic person over all. She may be head girl, but she doesn't try to be a hard-ass about it. As long as people aren't actually doing anything too harmful, Avery is pretty lenient with most things that go on. Likewise, she's a very responsible person, and can be trusted with several things because of that. She's confident in herself and her abilities, and doesn't mind taking charge of situations. She's cool yet kind to most, and can be considered easily approachable because of that. She doesn't try to purposely come as intimidating, though if she is ever irritated or mad, she definitely can be. She's a very open-minded person, and is tolerant to hearing whatever wild ideas someone may have. Avery can be considered a sort of quiet extrovert. She doesn't necessarily bother trying to talk to someone at all times, but doesn't have any problems speaking at all. At the same time, she's alright with being alone too since she likes the peacefulness of it. As much as she tries not to let others get to her, she doesn't like the thought of people ridiculing her ideas or whatever she tries to do. As a Ravenclaw, she's an exceedingly intelligent and creative person. She likes finding clever, resourceful ways to get out of situations. Avery is the type of person who usually thinks before she speaks or charges into an action. As so, she's analytical and would probably notice things that most probably wouldn't. She values honesty, and can actually come off as a bit rude at times because of this. Although she likes hearing other people's ideas, she is a dogmatic person and would rather point out faults in people's ideas than just be quiet and let it happen. Avery's a very curious person and enjoys learning things, whether it's useless information or stuff that actually matters. She's very passionate about what she does and never truly half-asses something, even if she says she is. She's quite the competitive person and doesn't like being a loser (though she definitely isn't a sore one), and can come off as a bit stubborn and ambitious, but she knows when it's best to just give up with whatever it is she's doing. She's a perfectionist to the point where she spends a lot of time just fixing minimal errors, and she can become so obsessed with trying to succeed that she can cut off other aspects of her life. When she's annoyed, she can be pretty sarcastic, even if she tries not to be overbearingly rude.

  • OOC: So a side note is I may have originally said Lynn was a seeker, but I meant to say Chaser, so I edited it out. I was confused haha. So her brother would also be a chaser. Okayyyyy let's start.

It's quidditch practice time; Lynn's favorite, and least favorite part of the day. She loved quidditch but practice was brutal and she almost always argued with Aiden about who would get the ball when. They hadn't even started flying yet and the two were already at it.
"Look!" She was practically shouting at the kid in the field, "I'm faster than you, just pass the damn ball and I'll score." Her confidence overbearing.
"Lyndsey, that's stupid. If we try and fake them out, we have a better chance. Stop trying to shoot when you get to the goal and just pass the ball to me, they won't see it coming." Aiden's voice was firm. His plan made more sense then just running at the goal, yet Lynn felt confident enough, so they kept arguing.
"No, see, your reflexes suck. I'll pass you the ball and you wont even notice I've thrown it until the other team has it!"
Aiden was getting mad that the girl was practically insulting him, "Oh, my reflexes are fine." he pushed her back by her shoulders, "You're the clutz!" he accused, "You have such butterfingers, constantly losing the ball."
Lynn pushed him back, a hand on her wand, his doing the same. Pulling out her wand, Lynn pointed it at the boy, "Stupefy!" a spark flew at the boy, but he blocked it, causing the spark to fly off in a weird angle before fizzing out. They went back and forth, shouting stupid curses at each other, everyone on the team and in the stands just enjoying the silly little fight.

  • [ Oh wow I didn't even realize that I mixed up the positions too, lol. I'll edit my form in a second then. ]

Drama spread around like wildfire, and it wasn't long at all before Avery was alerted of the fight going on outside after school, where the Gryffindors usually practiced their quidditch. It definitely hadn't been the first time she had to break apart a fight between quidditch players. The last time this had happened, she was still a prefect, and the argument had been between one of the chasers and the keeper. Personally, she would think it was a bit petty to start an argument over something like sports, but that might've just been because she wasn't as into it as some people were- like her brother. Who, according to what she heard from other people, was actually a part of this fight going on. That happened to be justified when she walked across the field, only to see the familiar face of Aiden a distance away. One might've been disappointed or even embarrassed that a family member was starting up something like this, but honestly, Avery couldn't say that she was too surprised. It hadn't been the first time Aiden picked a fight, and she doubted it would be the last one. What the hell is this idiot doing now, she thought before releasing a sigh.

She continued approaching while slipping a hand into her dark robes, pulling out a pitch black wand a few seconds after. She pointed the tip of the ebony wand between the area separating the two before muttering a quick "protego." The previous sparks that had been flying towards the two had quickly been distinguished as they came into contact with the invisible shield between the two. With a few steps forward, she was now only a yard or so away from her brother, and came to a quick stop while letting out another sigh. "Can I go one day without having to babysit you?" she said lowly before looking over at the individual Aiden had been fighting. Avery did happen to recognize the girl. They were in the same year, and although she personally didn't recall talking to her much, if not at all, they did share a few classes together. "And you. I would like to think that you have some mind that provoking a fight, especially with an underclassman, is not a good idea." And here she was, thinking that she could have one day of peace- but nope. It had to be her own damn sibling that started a fight with someone else.

  • Lynn puffed air, pushing hair out of her face, "Wow." Lynn laughed, "Here comes your big sister to the rescue!" She scoffed, "maybe this is why you're so dependant in game." She twitched, not looking at the girl. She knew her, of course. They were in the same year and this girl was head of ravenclaw. Probably a major suck up and condescending. Lynn put her wand to her side, glancing at the girl before back at Aiden, a smirk wide smirk on her face at the situation.

Ooc: wrote this in a car so i apologize for its crappiness. Ill be at dinner for a few hours sooooo yeah

  • [ It's fine, no worries! Mine is kinda short too since I'm also on my phone. ]

Well, this girl was already starting to get on her nerves, and all she did was speak a few sentences. It was true that she was gradually getting a bit more annoyed, but Avery showed no signs of it as she looked at the Gryffindor, with only her eyebrow quirking up slightly. The straight expression remained on her face, and she let out yet another soft sigh. Couldn't the people here at Hogwarts be at least a little more civil? She remembered the times, before her fifth year, where she didn't even have to worry about stuff like scolding people for the trivial things they did. Oh, how she missed having way less responsibilities. "Are you actually still going on about this?" She said, of course already knowing the answer to that. She then glanced down at Aiden who stood beside her. "And don't you dare say anything back." To her luck, she saw him hesitate before just shutting up with a quick roll of his eyes. Then, her gaze was cast back over at the brunette.

"Can you two just stop with the petty arguments? I'm sure that neither of you want to be written up for detention, but if you do, I can easily have that arranged," Avery said. She really didn't want to have to be dealing with this right now, truthfully. She had more important matters that she needed to tend to than breaking up a fight that honestly just seemed really stupid. In fact, if it weren't for her responsibilities for head girl, she probably wouldn't of even shown up right now.

  • "Detention? Seriously" Lynn laughed, "You think you're such a big deal, don't you." she rolled her eyes, "Just cause you're head of the house doesn't mean you're in charge of everyone." gripping her wand tighter, Lynn seemed a little enraged just by how this girl was belittling her. She said very little, still getting her point across before grabbing her broom, "Come on, Aiden. Get your damn butt on the broom, you need the practice." Lynn twitched, ignoring the girl and she kicked her broom off the ground. Her robe gathered some dirt as she lifted off, whooshing around like a flag. Lynn was angry and it showed in her practice. She constantly shoved into Aiden, saying it was just the game, though they both know she was just mad.

OOC: On my way back right now :P

  • Truthfully, she was more than glad when the other girl was already starting to head away with her broomstick in her hand. At this point, she was too tired to even deal with this girl, better yet her own brother, but she didn't want it to seem as though she were losing the argument or whatever with her silence. On any other occasion, she probably would've continued on with their little verbal fight. This girl just made it seem like being head girl was nothing, when she in fact did have quite a bit of authority over everyone. Of course, excluding the professors and all the people like that. Avery however knew better and just stayed quiet as the Gryffindor turned away with the broom, and much like Aiden had a few seconds ago, Avery rolled her darker brown eyes at the girl who had her back turned. With the brunette already kicking off into the air, Avery turned against her heels to look down at Aiden with a slightly tilted head. "I swear if you two immediately start going at each other's throats as soon as you're up there... You know what? Just, never mind. I'm tired of dealing with you two."

Avery didn't say anything else before turning and heading over to the sidelines by the stands. She had little time to be dealing with something so childish, in her opinion. So what if it got any worse? She already gave them a warning, and if either of them bothered stepping over the line, than a professor could just go deal with them. Perhaps the Gryffindor said that she wasn't in charge of everyone, but the professors definitely were to some extent. While exhaling a soft huff of air, Avery slid her wand back underneath the cover of her uniform.

Not that she appreciated what just happened, but the argument did happen to clear up a few questions she had from before. Over the summer, even if she hadn't been listening half of the time, Avery could recall him going on and on about some pointless quidditch stuff, more so when he'd constantly rant about some girl on the Gryffindor team with him that he couldn't stand. Judging by the looks of it, she could take an assumption that this was the person he had been talking about the entire time. It was quite the interesting choice for an enemy, considering their age difference, but Avery couldn't blame him. She had no idea how he might've treated this girl, but she had only been around her for what? Two minutes? And she already disliked her.

  • After a good few hours, Lynn dragged her broom to the ground along with the rest of the team. They were all sore and exhausted and wanted nothing more then to head to the Dining hall for lunch. Lynn twitched. Aiden walked over to her furious, "Can you not just pass me the damn ball!" He yelled
"I scored, didn't I?" She growled back at him, not even bothering to look at his angered expression. She just wanted to eat, and the more he nagged, the more she wanted to punch him.
So she headed off to the Dining hall as fast as she could. She didn't mind dueling, but she hated detention. It was boring. So while she got in her fair share of trouble, she tried to avoid getting that slip of paper. With Aidens older sister watching, Lynn knew it would be stupid to provoke him.
The other team members found the little dispute rather amusing, so they never really stopped it, though at lunch, they made sure the two were separate, all the while sitting together as a team. Sitting in between Henry, the team seeker, and Austin, the beater, She plopped down, waiting for the rest of the team to settle in. "Man, your sister is something..." Lynn joked, "Must suck having her boss you around all the time," She grabbed some pasta, shaking her head and continuing to chuckle at the thought of the poor boy having to deal with such a stuck-up Ravenclaw. "At least her team doesn't stand a chance against us, eh?" She playfully bumped her shoulder into Henry's and high-fives started going all around.

  • It wasn't long before the dining hall was quickly filled with hundreds of other students bustling in. Avery was luckily one of the students who managed to arrive early before the chaos ensued once everyone else came, along with a few other friends that she was currently sitting nearby. They were all eating and talking, though Avery was a little bit more quiet than usual, purely out of just being abnormally tired, since it really wasn't all that late to begin with. She only glanced up from her plate of food when one of her friends, Amaya, asked her a question. "Hey, Avery, is it true that your brother got in a fight? I overheard one of the Gryffindors talking about it, and I thought you'd know... For obvious reasons."

She simply shrugged at first. "Yeah, but it doesn't really matter. It wasn't like it was big or anything," she said before poking at the food on her plate with her fork.
"So, who was it? Who'd he fight?"

She looked up from her food once more, her gaze trailing back over to the Gryffindor table, until her eyes lingered on a certain brunette over there. With the slight nod of her head, she gestured over to her before looking away from the other table. "The one over there with the long brown hair."
"Ooh, she looks kind of tough. Hope your brother didn't get beaten up too badly," she said with an added chuckle.

"The one over there? I'm pretty sure her name is Lyndsey. I'm in a class or two with her," one of her other friended said.

Lyndsey. The name did sound familiar. Probably because of the fact she might've heard it during one of Aiden's many rants. "No, Aiden's fine. He can handle himself. The only reason I went was because I'm kind of obligated to, not because I want to. Honestly, it's his own fault if he's getting hurt because he's the one that's being stupid."

"Wow, you're such a great sister," one of her friends added in sarcastically. Before Avery was even able to respond though, Amaya suddenly shot up from her seat. "Dude, I totally want to ask her- Lindsey- about the fight. I mean, she might not react badly to it. Hell, maybe it would be funny."

At first, Avery just stayed completely silent while looking up at Amaya with a blank expression, and a few moments passed before she finally spoke. "I think that's the stupidest idea I've heard from you today. Now sit your ass back down."

A small frown crossed the other girl's expression, but she just did as she was told and slumped back down.

  • Lynn finished eating early, She didn't really pile on the food since she had to finish some homework for her next period class. Getting up, she nodded off at her teammates and headed out the doors, towards the library. She always procrastinated and it always came back to bite her in the ass. She barely got any sleep because of it. Lynn is always up at ridiculous hours doing things she shouldn't do, then cramming her homework in the next day.

She got to the library, settling down, yet, she couldn't focus, yet again. She couldn't help but think about the fight today. She was a little mad at Aiden's sister for butting in. Who did she think she was? All Lynn could think about was ways to get back at the girl for being so condescending. Duels were always her go-to, but this girl would just hand her a detention slip before Lynn even brought her wand out. She had to be more subtle. Maybe a prank?

Giving a devilish smirk, followed by a twitch, Lynn couldn't help but amuse herself with ideas. She hadn't written down a single thing for homework, though she did know how she wanted to spend her money at Hogsmeade. She was going to buy those Demon Dung fireworks. They usually set off a nasty smell that would last a while. Considering how the girl had embarrassed Aiden, Lynn was almost sure she could have his cooperation, too. Being her brother, he could help place the Dung.

  • //my posts after this one will probably be a lot shorter since i'll be stuck on my phone and it's a pain to type out posts there on the mobile site

There definitely was a reason that she hadn't been eating as much and was a lot quieter than usual during lunch. She had a lot of things she still needed to do in the free time she had before her next period. One of things she needed to do was actually something that happened to do with her next period as well. As soon as Avery was finished eating the little bit of food that she had, she was already out of the dining hall and heading down the hallways towards a very specific room. She stopped once she arrived at the doors and lightly pushed them open before slipping in. Immediately ahead, she could see rows of shelves filled with a colorful assortment of books. There were a few tables here and there with a few students, though most would probably still be lounging around somewhere at lunch. Of course, she wasn't just here for no particular reason. Avery needed a book for her next class, and what better place to get it than in a library? Everyone was supposed to bring in the book by today, and normally Avery wasn't one to leave things for the last minute, but there were just so many things that she needed to take care of first that she had no time to come by early. It wouldn't take too long, anyway, if one of the copies of the novel was left. She had already been to the library several times throughout her years in Hogwarts, to the point where she probably did know the locations of where most of the books were.

She quickly walked by the aisles of shelves, heading for a specific one in particular, and stopped when she came by the row of shelves she needed to head to. She glanced down at the tables down the aisle only to stop when her gaze landed on a person that she certainly hadn't been expecting to see here. Lindsey. With the slight shake of her head, she went down the aisle calmly, paying no mind to the Gryffindor as she stopped in front of the shelf, which also happened to be right by the table Lindsey was at. Avery didn't even take another glance at the girl, basically ignoring her entire existence as she reached a hand up to grab the last copy left of the book she needed.

At least I'm a little lucky today, Avery thought as she pulled the book from the shelf, clutching it tightly in her hand.

  • OOC: Yeah, I'll be in school in a little over 4 hours so my activity will be down a lot more since I don't have any free periods and my posts during school hours are a lot shorter. (Yes it's 3:30 am, I have bad sleeping habits Shhhhhhh)

IC: Lyndsey had been so deep in thought, that when footsteps appeared next to her, she was actually a bit startled, jumping up when a hand reached out across the shelf out of no where. Looking up, she rolled her eyes at the sight of the Ravenclaw Prefect. The girl wouldn't even look at Lynn. She was probably trying to be the better person. Lynn just felt a little degraded. She twitched, her eyes and nose scrunching together. Noticing the girl clutch her book and start to head off, her mind wandered. Lynn's not-so-newfound anger at this seventh year was a little comedic, in a way. She didn't even know the girls name, yet she was growing an intense grudge! Lynn watched as the girl was beginning to walk away, pulling out her wand. She flicked it in the Prefects direction, using a trip jinx to try and knock the girl over. (There's no words for the trip jinx apparently, you just point your wand and it happens, so yee) Turning back to her work, Lynn covered her mouth with her left hand, leaning it into the table and turning her head in a different direction from the girl. Lyndsey was honestly trying not to laugh but she couldn't help it. There was no way of hiding that she didn't do it at this point. The smirk on her face was too big, her eyes filled with satisfaction.
Yet, Lynn had to be careful. She didn't want to get detention or have the girl talk to a professor about sidelining her from the next game. Lynn was just hot-headed and full of bad ideas. So as quick as she could recover herself, she grabbed her quill and began working on the homework she had yet to start.

  • //yeah, i usually never have enough time to post during school, and it's okay. i have pretty weird sleeping habits too sometimes lol.

Now that Avery had slid the book from the shelf, she immediately turned and down the rows of shelves, past the many wooden tables neatly aligned by them. Well, that was one thing that she no longer needed to worry about, but she knew for a fact that her day would still probably be busy. She was about to take a small turn into one of the more open sections of the library, when she suddenly felt as though something around her ankle, and before she knew it, she had fallen onto the floor. The book flew from her hand and she fell onto her knees, but she had been quick enough to stop herself from completely landing face-first against the floor by rapidly moving one of her hands down to support herself. In no time she was able to regain her balance, and she took a quick glance down at the floor. Maybe she was being a bit too skeptical now, but Avery was positive that this tripping hadn't been just any inconvenience. In general, she wasn't really a clumsy person, and there was nothing on the floor that she could really trip over in the first place.

Avery glanced up when she saw someone holding out a book to her, the one she dropped just a few moments ago, and looked up to see a younger looking Hufflepuff. "Here, you dropped this," he said and glanced down at the book. "I heard you fall, and... well, you're okay, right?" the boy asked.

The Ravenclaw first picked up the book he was holding out to her before standing up. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine, thanks," she answered before getting up, flashing a small smile at the Hufflepuff. He then gave a brief nod before quickly returning back to the shelves he had previously been looking through. With him now gone, Avery took a small glance back to the row of shelves she had been looking through before. Yeah, it was definitely her, she thought. At first she stayed still where she was for a few seconds, before shaking her head and looking away with a sigh. She had no time to deal with something like this.

  • OOC: I'd say we skip to a little after the hogsmeade trip after this just to keep the pace going if that's alright with you!

IC: The girl had glanced back at Lynn, staring at her for a few moments. She knew. Yet, she ignored it, probably too busy to care, being a prefect and all. Lyndsey briefly felt bad for the girl when she heaved a sigh. Only briefly, quickly turning back to her work and actually getting through it. It was honestly crap. Her sentences didn't make sense and she only partially finished it before getting to bored to continue. But hey! She'd get some credit at least. The bell was about to ring anyways, she wouldn't have any time to get the whole thing done. Lynn twitched.

Running a hand through her hair out of frustration, Lynn stood up, putting her papers back into her messy bag. Messy is an understatement. She never bothered placing sheets in the proper areas, she just crunched them down. As long as it fit, it didn't matter to her. Slinging it over her shoulder, she began to walk out the maze of a library, through to the staircase. She knew there was a shortcut to her transfigurations class, but she could never seem to find it. The kids who knew about it never shared cause they didn't want it getting too known. So she had to walk multiple flights of stairs through even more court yards until she finally reaches the class. It was just an annoying process to her, but then again, most things annoy the girl

  • //sorry for taking such a long time! i ended up being stuck on my phone and i did try typing up a post there, but i got so annoyed that i gave up halfway. :>

Days passed since occurrence at the library. Now, they were back to their regular schedule at Hogwarts. It was a little bit past noon, and close to one of her final periods when Avery was sitting down at her assigned seat among the several rows of desks quite boredly. Currently she was in potions, and today they were having a somewhat mediocre class. Avery definitely wasn't bad at potions- actually, she found it really easy- but that didn't mean that she necessarily enjoyed it. At the most, she was alright with it. Their professor wasn't all that bad at least. He was strict, but still pretty calm about most things. The subject itself was the thing that wasn't appealing to Avery. To her, it just didn't seem as thrilling as transfiguration or Defense Against The Dark Arts might've been. In potions, all you really had to do was throw stuff into a cauldron according to some recipe and hope it turns out right. Actually, that was quite similar to what they would be doing soon. At the front of the classroom, the professor was going down a long list of students and calling out different names. Currently, they were being assigned a partner that they would have to make a specific potion with, and according to what the professor said, the grade they would be receiving today would depend on the quality of the potion.

The assignment itself wasn't difficult at all. It was whoever she would be receiving as a partner that Avery was worried about. She knew what she was doing, but what if her partner didn't? Having to do everything herself would be irritating, but then again, she was basically used to doing that. All throughout her years in Hogwarts, there were instances where she'd have to do the work while her partners or team slacked off. Not saying that she was the only one who had to deal with that, since numerous students had to. Then again, she did know the majority of the people in this class, and most of them weren't the type to spend an hour screwing around. Especially since this was their final year at school, and a lot of people were finally taking it more seriously.

    "Chamberlain."

The brunette snapped out of her thoughts and glanced up from her textbook once she heard her name being called. There was a small pause after her name was spoken, and the professor looked up from his paper to gaze at the rows of students. His eyes stopped once they were focused on a certain Gryffindor. "You'll be with Lyndsey."

Well, that certainly was another problem. Getting a useless partner was one thing, but getting someone that you kind of disliked? That was another. There better be another Lyndsey in this class other than the girl from a few days ago, otherwise Avery was truly deciding that the world was against her. She certainly hadn't forgotten what happened over the small course of time. Now, she wasn't one to hold grudges or anything, but Avery certainly wasn't the type to just forget. The professor looked back down at the list, and continued to read random names. After a minute or so, he then set the list back down on the table in front of him. "You may go sit with your partner and begin the assignment now."

The sound of the bottom of the chairs scuffing against the floor echoed through the room as several students stood up from their desks, already heading to wherever their partner was seated. Some students had been lucky enough to get who they wanted, but like Avery, there were some people who hadn't been the most pleased with their choice of partner.

Perhaps potions would be a bit more thrilling today- and definitely not in a good way.

//so, i was thinking that even though lynn doesn't know avery's name yet, she'd probably recognize her last name because of her brother.

  • (Yeah, that makes sense. Plus, most people vaguely know the others in their grade)

Potions class. Man, did Lyndsey suck at potions class. It's not for lack of trying. She just had a hard time focusing to the teachers monotone voice, so her potions were never really that good. Plus, all that reading? Nope. Not her thing. So when it was announced that the class would be working on a potion with a partner today, she was a little more ecstatic. The small smile on her face grew ten times when she heard her name being called. The teacher paired her with Chamberlain. That was Aiden's last name, but he wasn't in her grade. By logic, that meant it was his sister. Turning and facing the girl, Lyndsey waved, getting up to sit to the left of her. Feeling around her book-bag, she felt a round object, the size of a gold-ball, and smirked. She still had the dung from hogsmeade. Pulling it out as discretely as possible, she hid it inside the pocket of her robe. Lynn had to find the right time to place it on the girl.

Wiggling a little in her chair to adjust herself, Lynn opened the potions book to a random page before turning to her new partner, "What are we even doing?" She laughed a little, finding her ignorance kind of comedic. She wasn't really listening to the instructions the professor gave. His facial hair was distracting her. Before giving the girl a chance to answer, Lyndsey jumped to another statement, "I never got your name by the way." her tone was casual as she flipped through the pages of the book at random.
