  • The human glanced at Zygax then to the newly entered female with wide, worried eyes before slowly making their way to the king's side. They pointed to the words as they read, "Arls are exceedingly tall with lean figures and hooved feet. They appear to have androgynous (in some cases) appearances and have a strange form of government. It's very similar to a hierarchy..." The human drifted off, eyes wondering about the room for a second, "They appear wary of new creatures, like myself, and some seem to be aggressive. They hunt/scavenge like hunter and gatherer groups of the past and hold court. They seem to fear the Crossroads for a reason unknown to me..." The human finished pulling their arm away and knitting their fingers together in a contemplative stance.

Hollond nodded along to the human's words taking in whether or not there were insults thrown in. There didn't seem to be, but what were these 'hunter and gatherer' groups. Hollond looked to Lennox and dipped his head in a late greeting before turning to catch the Daar and Head Knight's reactions.

  • Aradace nodded, and seemed pretty content with what the human had said. "What is this 'androgynous'?" He had never heard a human say that before, and none of his teacher ever used it. "I have never heard this human word before." Aradace seemed to be stuck in a state of wondering at learning these things from the human.

Zygax watched the human closely, taking pleasure in its unease and not paying attention to its speech. He placed clasped his hands behind his back, wanting to rush the human from the Daar's side, but he knew Aradace would never let him forget it if he did.

  • "They appear wary of new creatures, like myself, and some seem to be aggressive..."

Lennox couldn't understand most of the human's recount of information. She picked out a sentence and it resonated with her. Agressive. She couldn't hold in her laughter and instead let out a small snort. You haven't seen aggressive. She looked at Zygax hoping he caught the human's underlining message. Lennox nodded at Hollond, taking his greeting.

    Crossroads.

A shiver ran down Lennox's spine.

  • The human looked at the king quizzically for a second then sputtered, "It means someone appears both slightly male and slightly female." They explained turning their form at an angle as if trying to hide behind the Daar. "It's very rare (I think) among humans, so it struck me as strange that your race was so...Well...You know." The human looked to Lennox as she laughed, broad confusion crossing their face. Perhaps something they had said was amusing...? Well that was good, it meant they hadn't offended anyone. Hopefully.

  • Aradace nodded, "Ah! Yes!" He stored away the word in his memory to use to impress the nobles and scholars. A smile crept onto his face at the thought of their shock, but his thoughts returned back to the human. "I will keep these, yes?" When he spoke, he hadn't said it like a request, he was simply saying he would keep them. He sat the papers in his lap, waiting for the human to say something else fascinating.

Zygax, at this time, stepped in. He put an arm to the human's chest, again pushing him back. "You may return to a distance, for your own safety." He had a stony face, but anyone who knew him could see the slightest pleasure in his eye at bossing the human around. It was his job, and yes, he loved his job. He looked up for a moment at Lennox, seeing her reactions to the human's words set him a little more on edge, just because he wasn't sure what he had said that made her shiver. He should have been paying attention.

  • The human nodded to the Daar, not bothering to argue, and took a few quick steps back as the Head Knight, Zygax, held him back. "R-Right...Of course, I'll be...Back here...Explaining." They stuttered then cleared their throat searching their mind for any knowledge they could share. They narrowed their eyes and furrowed their brows before snapping their fingers with a smile, "I suppose you don't have a whole lot of Technology here, huh?" They mused smiling when Hollond furrowed his brow, lines crinkling at his eyes as they narrowed.

"Tech...Nology..." He echoed face drawn in thought.

((Arls have little technology and rely more so on magic and the world around them.))

  • Lennox was starting to get the hang of understanding the human... slightly. The more she listened the more similarities she could pick out between their two languages. Ardace looked pleased with all the new information rolling in. When Zygax stepped forwards she prepared herself to also take action instinctively- but, he was just asserting dominance so she took pleasure in watching. Lennox would never admit to herself that Zygax looked incredibly strong and capable as he took control of the situation. She knew his tactic was to in-still a bit of fear in the human so it wouldn't try anything. An idea occurred to her, maybe she should be nicer. They could have a guard on it's good side and it's bad side. It was just a strategic move.

She moved beside the king as Zygax moved forwards. She could tell it was bothering him that he could only guard the prince effectively and not both at the same time. She hoped it would calm him and stop him from scaring the human too much.

  • Aradace knew the word technology! Humans had these strange devices that could do unexplainable things! He remembered that his teacher told him that a human was rumored to had lost some here (plot idea?) but it was just that, a rumor. "No, human. We have no technologies." A thought dawned on him, "Do you have technologies with you?" He grew far more excited than he had with the papers, "Can you make technologies?" He had grown a little loud and cleared his throat in embarrassment.

Zygax faintly smiled at his brother's reaction. He was acting like a little one, and he would be sure to make fun of him for it later. He yet again returned to his post, now beside Lennox. He leaned towards her, "Do you think it will try anything," he asked in a hushed tone, knowing fully well that it wouldn't at this point. He had meant it in a joking sense.

  • The human nodded his head and dug about their pocket for their phone. Pulling it out they showed it to the king with a broad smile and slid it open. "I can call other humans with this back in my realm. It makes a sound and when I accept the call with a button, I can hear who called me." The human said offering for the king to look at the phone but moved no further than that for fear of Zygax pulling him back again.

Hollond looked at the device with a small look of wonder, "Strange..." He murmured, saying nothing more and waiting for the king's reply.

OOC: That could totally be a plot... How would we go about that, though?

  • Lennox was now not comfortable. That device had the ability to contact anyone in their realm. That did not exist here. She frowned, almost snarling at the piece of black metal. She was so entranced by the 'phone' she did not notice Zygax and jumped when she felt the vibrations from his voice. Her frown softened. "It should know better than to do that. Natural selection would have taken him long ago." She replied curtly, every second wanting to get the human away from all Arls. Aradace did not seem worried in the slightest. That made her more nervous-unsuspecting people were more vulnerable.

  • Maybe the rumbling in the crossroads could have something to do with it, if that's still a plot idea. We can talk about it in the PMs.

Aradace took it somewhat cautiously. At first, he shook it, but it did nothing so he tried tapping on it. Eventually, he hit something and it made a strange sound! He held it an arm's distance away out of fear. Then, he chuckled, "I like this!" He held it back out to the human, feeling he shouldn't take too many things from it. "Can you operate it for me?"

Zygax watched suspiciously as Aradace took the device. He didn't trust it, and wasn't sure if it was a trap from the human. Whenever Aradace began tapping and shaking it, Zygax nearly jumped out of his skin. Soon, he'd have to make the human leave. Aradace would get over it. He simply looked at Lennox, knowing she was just as on edge as he was. That was good, they'd be ready to pounce on the human if it tried anything.

  • OOC: Certainly!

IC: The human nodded, and began to push buttons while having the phone's screen facing the king. Their deft fingers tapping at apps, their gallery, and the keyboard as they tried to explain how the phone works. They often paused between demonstrations and explaining to see if the king was still listening then continued with a happy smile on their face.

Hollond noted that the human seemed rather excited to teach the Daar something and couldn't help but chuckle at the two's antics. They were like children. One who had learned some cool trick and was trying to explain it, while the other was an innocent child with tons of curiosity.

  • (So how would I go about this with Doe? Is she the human in the situation? I've read it and already so much has happened so I don't need a recap. I imagined her as one who doesn't really use too much technology, and wouldn't have anything too fancy. Or we could always start with the beginning with her.)

Nao Aesthyr sauntered down the hall of the castle, shuffling through the papers of her books as she did so. Currently, the arl was on her way to the grand library to read up on the full reports of the missing soldiers, when the uproar of the throne room hit her ears. Adjusting her soft blue robes, the advisor stepped into the room, a new click in her step.
"What is all this fuss about?" the arl asked, now staring at those who surrounded the throne room, the human in particular.

  • OOC: We could start from the beginning if you'd like. The human is an NPC who I imagine will fade into the background at some point. LOL

IC: Hollond perked up, his head snapping up from where he had once been positioned to look down at the small being. The human, startled, quickly tucked their phone away and tried to make themself look smaller. The short Arl gave his warmest smile to the female who had entered the room and bowed, "This human was just showing the Daar a ''phone''." He explained gesturing halfheartedly to the human.

  • Dean began to grow bored listening to the human. He had no idea why they had decided to such annoying creatures. He was friendly to them of course, but he could only stand they're rambling for so long. He pushed himself away from the wall he was leaning on and slowly moved for the door

  • Hollond glanced over as the prince began to leave, his brows furrowing. He remained silent but gave the human a silent wave for them to stay in place then followed after the prince, "Sir...?" He asked his blue eyes tinged with worry and curiosity. "Is everything alright?"

  • Dean turned slightly, pausing for a moment. " Hum? Oh nothing, I.. um, I'm just bored, I suppose. I can only stand to hear them ramble on about nonsense for so long." He offered Holland a small smile, trying to be friendly, but there was something about him that seemed to just want to be somewhere other than the throne room

  • "Hmm..." Hollond hummed as he pressed a hand to his cheek in thought, "Would you like to accompany me to the market? Perhaps with some fresh air and seeing the people your boredom will disappear?" The short Arl's eyes flickered from the prince to the ceiling as thoughts rolled through his mind at the speed of light. He hummed one more, nodding his head and looking back to the prince. "What do you say?"

  • He blinked in a sort of surprise, watching him but he slowly nodded, agreeing. It sounded wonderful to him. He hadn't been out of the palace in sometime, having been busy with his responsibilities and lessons. " That sounds perfect," he nodded,' I'd be happy too."

  • Aradace thoroughly enjoyed the device the human had, but he decided to spare the poor thing anymore fear. "Thank you very much for these pleasantries, human! Hollond will take you back to your room," he voice, however friendly, seemed booming and filled the entire room. It was the voice of an Arl who regularly had to speak to large crowds of people, a voice of a Daar.

Zygax dipped respectively, and slightly, in the direction of the human. If the human was afraid of a small Arl like Nao, he would probably die of fright if Aradace stood from his throne. Aradace was one of the tallest Arls Zygax had ever seen. He had been tall ever since they were young ones. While he was somewhat lost in his thoughts, his ever-vigilant eyes still followed the human's every move. It was a very fearful creature, but animals usually attack when they feel cornered. He hoped the human was smarter than that, but hoped it was stupid enough to try something at the same time.
