  • "Catch? There is no catch for this. The Resistance will keep you safe, and allow you to fight with us if you so wish," he paused, preparing for his little pitch, "I have something for you. A request."

  • "At least where I come from, it's real," Neith replied, "I usually stayed away from there, but I've fought a couple times in its battlegrounds." She stood up, slouched a bit as she was still somewhat sleepy. She'd almost forgotten about the leg. "It's doing better, probably won't be long before it's perfectly fine. A perk of one of being a goddess, I guess. But being here, the more I think about it, makes me feel less and less prominent."

"Give it a minute, it's on its way," Chun-Li replied, dashing past him to escort him and the prisoner, fending off Genji. The cyborg noted her to be a melee combatant, and a fair fighter. As both were honorable, Genji decided to get closer, so they would both have a fair fight. He swung with his wakizashi, which hit her in the shoulder. She retaliated with a fast kick, but Genji already had the upper hand, so he was able to dodge it.

Tiki was nervous, but at least trusted Certex enough to know he was being honest. If they were going to protect her, they probably were, she just was afraid they may use her, like many others have in the past. "Very well. What is your request?"

"You heard that too, right?" Neuxi asked David, hearing Tali calling for her, "I'm going to head to the quarian's workshop...it sounded important." She headed out the door he had open for her.

  • "It was an off day, alright?" Neith laughed, wanting to throw a blanket at him, but not wanting to disrupt Ame's fortress. "Besides, you're a powerful opponent, I'll admit. I'm nimble, and good with a bow, but it doesn't take that many hits for me to go down. But yes, I'm a goddess. The Weaver of Fate, if you will."

  • "This third-party, I'm involved with them. We need to unite the portal-goers here, but to do that we have to take out some key Reins targets who are true to the cause. Once we do that, we tell them about the real threat to this world. I'm assembling a squadron to take care of the issue, and I want you to help us."

David nodded, suddenly feeling a bit nervous about this. Thane and Kel'Neux, the two Reins prisoners, were urgently requested to the closest thing to a communications room that you could have in the camp. Crap. He followed her to Tali's workshop, running all the scenarios of what he thought was about to happen through his head.

  • *He smiled behind his mask.* "Yet I'm just a man. A very strong man with cybernetic enhancements to boot, but still just a simple old human." *He laughed.* "And you're up there with Zues. Don't smite me, 'kay?" *He let out one last chuckle before heading into the kitchen to make coffee.*

  • Tiki blinked, looking grim and anxious. "No." She said quietly, shuffling her legs under the seat. Making her responses short to minimize making her thoughts known. She knows more than she's letting on.

Pharah, Tali, and Thane glanced over at Neuxi. "Good, we can begin," Fareeha spoke with urgency, but then dreaded seeing David. However, she went on with the urgent matter. "The Reins have one of our own, and they will only let her go if we give both Neuxi and Thane back," she started plainly to begin. Tali kept quiet, with good reason. Neuxi didn't know how to respond, just blinking in bewilderment. She had finally gotten used to this place, even liking it.

"Oh, shut up," Neith brushed him off, but amused nonetheless. "I'm not all powerful. Kinda. I controlled mortals' fate in my realm, and did other cool stuff, and could easily best any mortal, but I'm still not immortal with unlimited power. That would be impossible. I just...can't die of old age."

  • Huh. This was definitely not part of the plan. "I know it's not safe and there are dozens of terrible things that could happen if you follow this path, but think of what we're doing here. The fate of this world hangs in the balance. Do you know how many people inhabit this world? Almost 8 billion. And I want to be able to say I did what I could to save them if our plan fails. How about you?"

"Two for one. This isn't fair for us. If they go back, we lose two of our own, if we don't comply, we only lose one," for the humanitarian he was, all he could think of at the moment was losing Kel'Neux. Even if he was going to leave, he at least wasn't going to leave permanently. He couldn't bear knowing she would be trapped over there working for the Reins once more.

  • Tiki looked away. "I cannot. I do not want to intervene. My...powers are too untrusting." Her voice was calm in tone as always, but quivered a bit at the end of the sentence.

"Are you saying we just leave her?" Tali asked, "I'm just as upset as you are about this, but this is a dedicated person with who-knows-what waiting for them in The Reins." She looked to Pharah, however, who nodded and spoke into the comms. "We are unsure about this arrangement. Two prisoners for one of yours doesn't seem to be a proper trade." She didn't want to reveal that their agents were turncoat, because that would end the deal immediately. Caeldori turned to Vader. "What do I say?" She knew what she wanted to say. How she completely agreed.

  • "Ask them what else they'd want. We have no other Resistance prisoners to offer, do we?"

"Then we work together. The only way your powers have been dealt with is repressing them, I'm sure that's why. I can help, I'm suited to take the risks. Think of whats at stake here," he didn't seem like it at all, but he was very desperate to get her on their side. If she was really so powerful, they'd need her to successfully assault a Reins base.

"And?" He seemed offended by that statement himself, even though it obviously wasn't directed towards him, "Are you saying Thane and Kel'Neux aren't dedicated members of the Resistance as well?"

  • "David is right," Thane put in, "we have dedicated ourselves to The Resistance. There is not a reason for us to want to go back." Neuxi shook her head, staring at the ground. "No, Thane. We have to go back. They need their real Resistance member back. One that has fought and bled for The Resistance."

"I..." Tiki mumbled, "I don't want to." She has only been awake a few years out of centuries, so she had the mindset of an older child. A mature one, burdened with knowledge, power, and responsibility, but a child nonetheless.

  • "Alright," he was clearly not pleased, but he wasn't going to fight this out any longer. "If you change your mind, come find me. Just think about what we're fighting for."

"Neux," he placed a hand on her shoulder, "You've had to fight and bleed on your journey. Everything you've done on this world as culminated in you joining us. You belong here, and you know it."

  • Tiki looked down, not saying anything. She hadn't heard the end of this, surely. From the sound of it, she was needed by Certex's group. But she couldn't. A single, light green tear flickered from the corner of her eye. It felt unfair to her, but part of her knew she didn't have a choice.

"But I don't want to be here knowing I'm the reason another is in chains, David!" Neuxi raised her voice. "I can't even fight or contribute!" Pharah looked the other way, and Tali kept a hand hovered over the response button.

  • *Grey Fox frowned behind his mask.* "They told me I'd live forever and never die of old age. I wonder if they're right." *He went back to lightly smiling.* "Maybe we're the same without our professions."

  • Certex suddenly regretted his very strong wording of what was at stake, seeing how she felt about it. "Listen, I'm sorry about that," he got out of his seat, looking across all the empty seats. "I'll have to introduce you to Fareeha, since you'll be staying here."

"So what makes you feel more comfortable at night, knowing that two people, you and Thane, are stuck back with the Reins, forced to commit atrocities, just so that one person is able to be free?!"

  • Neith gave a grin to Grey Fox. "Hmph, guess you're right there." She adjusted a part of her hair and then stretched an arm. "Can't wait to show off how good I can be when not faced with a powerful ageless guy with a sword."

Tiki blinked, looking up once her curiousity peaked. "Fareeha? Are they your leader?" She exhaled, accepting that this place must be safe for her. Right now, she was in the mood to fall asleep for a good week.

"...Damnit!" Kel'Neux smashed a fist on a desk not knowing how to argue with his points, her biotics causing nearby objects to suspend for a few moments before falling back to their original spot. "What the hell do we do, then!?" "Guys," Tali interrupted with a soft voice, "we need to respond."

  • "Yeah, she's our leader. Probably down in Tali's workshop, something big going on, they said," he beckoned for her to follow. "Let's go, I'll introduce you."

David thought for a moment, as clueless about what to do as they were. "Pharah, if we don't offer them a response soon they'll probably assume we don't care and kill her, or just keep her imprisoned. If we agree to what they say and trick them into an ambush, we'll be as low as they are... I just... don't know."

  • "Both of us?" Tiki breathed, "I...oh, uhm, alright," she decided to go along with it. Standing up, shaky at first, she was able to walk slowly now that she was more aware.

"There are plenty of options, but all have consequences," Pharah responded, breaking her silence. "We tell them there's no deal, but that risks the safety of Caeldori. We give you both up, but then you're on your own. Or we...like you said. There's no right decision here. But there's a wrong one, surely."

  • He slowed down as he remembered her difficulties readjusting to actually walking, putting out his arm as to allow her to lean on it. "So how do you just go to sleep at night regularly then, exactly?"

"Well... We have one other option. Our report from the prison break said that Caeldori was in the African base close to here. And we still have that shuttle that we stole from them. If we stall them a bit longer, we can quickly assemble a strike team to free her. That is if they decide to wait a bit before killing her."

  • *He laughed at that.* "It shall be interesting to see you in action. As it will likely be interesting to see me action. My enhancements were designed to be used to assault large bases, and I have in the past. Big Boss most always made that hard for me, but I guess that's what he wad made to do." *He began making coffee,* "Would you like some to help wake up? I'd prefer if you did, having a tired partner is never a good thing on missions."
