“For the rest of the night.” she confirmed, looking at him for a moment before closing her eyes and moving with his hands, allowing him to guide her closer to his space-heater of a body, wrapping her arms around him loosely the second she was curled up tight under his arm. “It sounds so dramatic when I say that, until you realize that we’re probably both going to be asleep within in the next ten minutes.” she added after a moment, looking at him with a little snort, trying not to find it too amusing that they were both old and exhausted already even though they were still young.
At his little compliment she gave a giggle, rolling her eyes at his logic, because of course it sounded sexy coming from her when they were literally having s*x, though she just shifted herself down the bed a bit so her head could rest on his shoulder and she closed her eyes as well. His stupid little grumbles interrupted her attempts at falling asleep and she gave a half-hearted growl, grumbling something about ‘shutting the f*ck up Kit I swear to god now is not the time for sweet talking’ before settling back again, though she had a small smile across her face as she did. Maybe she liked his compliments more than she was willing to admit.

“I know, baby. I know. I’m sorry.” Heidi muttered as she bent down to look into her daughter’s big blue eyes- exactly like Hei’s, damn the man- massive waves of guilt washing over her. “I know I promised waffles, but I woke up too late and I couldn’t get them made. I’ll have them perfectly ready for you tonight though. With the chocolate, just like you like. Though you have to promise to go to sleep if I let you have them like that, okay?” she asked, looking at her girl for a moment, her heart breaking when her baby just gave a reluctant nod. Clearly she was pissed, if even the promise of waffles didn’t perk her up.
“And maybe we could play with some snow.” she added under her breath, looking around at the Northern California weather around them, knowing that it was dangerous. Sure, it got chilly, but there definitely wasn’t any snow around. Not that that was a problem when her little girl was apparently a human snow-blower. Something Hei DEFINITELY has to explain… she thought to herself before standing up and kissing Laura on the forehead, a smile on her face as she let go of the girl’s hand. “Now, go to class. You know how important school is…” she said, watching with a fond smile as the girl ran away.
Only when the little girl was out of sight did Heidi finally turn around and stuff her hands in her pockets as she shuffled towards the middle school, a bright red blush across her face. This is exactly why she and Kit had never slept with each other during the week before. She’d been so tired from creeping out of his place in the middle of the night in what was probably a walk of shame she would never get over that she’d slept through her first alarm, and ruined the traditional Thursday morning pick-me-up waffles that she’d always made for Laura. It was their tradition, and her being h*rny had gotten in the way. Never again. I’m a mother first, and THEN I can think about that stuff… she thought, though then she rounded the hill and saw Kit getting out of his car, and her traitorous heart starting to beat a little bit louder.
ooc: and just a reminder for my own sake of mind, because I had to go back and check. Rae and Fei just reunited in New Haven after Rae tracked her down with the help of Sunny the barista, who brought her boyfriend Owen with her. She and Owen are actually desperately in love, even though they’re both a little emotionally constipated and only really admit it when they have to (Sunny more than Owen). All’s well and good, except for the fact that winter is ending and it’s almost Fei’s time up at the table.
It is currently the middle of the winter, so Hei is manning the World Board up in Montu. He and Harv are kind-of-totally a thing, even though they haven’t exactly put it into words yet. For Lauralai’s birthday party, Hei introduced Harv as his girlfriend, though that was sort of a randomly attached title to an uncertain situation. But they’re pretty solidly together at this point, though still kind of working on the transition from friends to more than that at times (at least for Hei, who is actually a hopeless romantic but scared to death of executing any of his crazy love-driven plans).
Harv and Heidi surprisingly bonded, what with one being Hei’s current girl and the other being the ex. They met at Laura’s birthday party, though, and Harv immediately saw through Heidi’s fake smile and noticed that she was absolutley miserable with her current boyfriend Marvin. She convinced the girl to drop the guy, and she actually did. Now Harv isn’t exactly living with Heidi and her daughter, but she is at the house enough that it feels like it. Also, she keeps pushing Heidi to realize that the mysterious Kit (who she and Hei just met, and Hei was NOT happy with) is literally perfect for her, but Heidi absolutely refuses.
Heidi and Kit are still playing their little flirting game, although at this point, both of them are kinda looking at the other for more than just a quick f*ck to scratch that itch that the two single-parent teachers get on occasion. A few dates ago, Kit kinda overdid it and bought flowers, which Heidi loved more than anything but it confused the ever-loving f*ck out of her. They’re good now, though. They just kinda f*cked on a Wednesday afternoon in what was sort of maybe planned? And felt a whole lot more like a date than anything they’d done before considering that Kit actually cooked for Heidi? But that’s something for them to worry about some other day. Willie (7) s Kit’s boy, Laura(lai) (5) is Heidi’s little girl.
Mari is the breeze goddess, and roommate to Dax. Sorta. At this point she lives more often with Will, though it doesn’t seem like she’s ready to admit that (though Will would be over the moon if she did). Will is completely infatuated with her, and is so deep in love that he’s never going to come out of it. He’s determined to marry her, and literally nothing will get in his way at this point. She still hasn’t told him about the whole oh-yeah-I’m-a-god-thing, because really, on what date are you supposed to broach that with your boyfriend? But they’re not officially boyfriend-girlfrined, even though their relationship is so much more than that. We stopped right before Mari met Will’s sister Elisabeth. The first time the girl is meeting the family.
And I have no idea what we were doing with Dax and Audrey but I remember the last time around she gave him a lap dance because she’s secretly a stripper or something like that. It was wild. He wants her, she’s making him pursue.
And I think that’s it for now.
