after her mother's death, littlepaw had to make sure nothing like that ever happened again. she couldn't bare to watch another one of her clanmates get sick and die, all without her noticing. "shadowclan, i will be giving mandatory health check-ups. line up outside my den to be screened for illness." she declared, poking her head out of the medicine den to make the announcement.

Poppykit hated the idea of check ups, but would be the first to arrive anyways. It wasint like she had anything better to do right now anyways. The kitten waited just outside the medicine den and huffed softly. Maybe the medicine cat apprentice could figure out why Poppykit couldint make any friends, or help her through the pain that she felt daily when her parents refused to pay attention to her. Could herbs heal that sort of thing? Poppykit had no idea since she didn't know of any herbs or how they worked. Littlepaw would, though, and that's why she was here.

LittleNewt had of course heard the call- Though he was a bit slower to arrive. Frankly, He figured he was about as healthy as could get. He hadn't been sick since he was a Kit. Though, Yes he was blind and small. He didn't think that was exactly a Illness. Still, He strode forward and allowed himself to sit nearby. Wiggling his ears. His nose wrinkled a bit, He wasn't a fan of the idea of eating herbs.. Though there was one kind he wouldn't mind trying if asked too.. Of course he had to ask. "Do we get free catnip for this?" Of course he knew the medicine cats had some in there den. But that was for healing purposes. Meaning No touchy. LittleNewt wouldn't mind some, He remembered plenty of times rolling in catnip gardens in the two-leg place. Yeah.. That would be a nice feeling right about now.

  • Foxwhisker didn't want to go and get a check-up; she felt fine and feared being informed she did have an illness, one that she could not be cured of and that she would simply have to suffer through until she perished. She stood in the entrance of the warrior's den and stared out at Littlepaw, watching as Poppykit and Littlenewt started to queue up on command. She gave a long sigh of defeat - she supposed if she was going to be sick, she'd prefer to know sooner rather than later. The warrior shook out her coat and then padded over, getting in line after her younger Clanmates, tail swishing anxiously. "I doubt it, Littlenewt." she meowed in a tone of mild amusement. [b]"Isn't being told you're well reward enough?"

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:400px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
"come on in poppykit." the medicine cat beckoned with her black-furred tail to the kit. poppy was one of the cats she didn't mind talking to for more than a few minutes. at littlenewt's comment, something inside her snapped. "really, littlenewt? you know, some cats are actually dying from sickness, and you're asking if you could use catnip for entertainment?!" she yelled, her loud, angry voice ringing throughout camp.

Littlenewt's whiskers twitched in amusement at Foxwhiskers words. He guessed it was enough of a reward- But frankly he'd prefer the nip any day. Besides, It would bring a smile to everyones face! But he was soon beginning to frown as he heard a sharp voice directed at him. The fur along his spine riled up and he arched his back, Claws coming out- Though this wasn't because he was planning to start a fight or anything. When you were blind, You could never know if a shouting tone could lead to being leaped at or something. But no such thing happened, And he began to settle. Frankly, He would have snapped back at her roughly but.. Littlepaw had lost a mother, A pain LittleNewt was familiar with. This alone was the only reason he hadn't cuffed her on the ears for that little comment. His face was soft as he sat down. Curling his tail around his paws. "Darling, It was simply a joke.. I.." " He went quiet for a moment. Dying of sickness.. He knew who she was referring to. "Littlepaw... We.." He begun, He remembered his mothers passing, He hadn't wanted to talk to anyone.. But he hadn't had anyone to speak to anyway at the time. After a moment the tom managed. "Littlepaw- I know your upset, But if you ever need some one to talk to. I'm here. I'm here.. I know the feeling of losing a mother, Of seeing it as your fault.." -He remembered the taste of his mothers blood very easily. The tears that stained his cheeks and the laughing of Maroon behind him. But that was another story.

    [/fancypost]

  • He wasn't really surprised that Littlepaw was doing checkups, all things considered. Whatever Raggedstar had contracted had proved fatal, even for a cat with multiple lives. The tom didn't really feel like waiting until it was too late to find out if he had caught something.

Following after his clanmates, Boulderstrike waited patiently for his turn to arrive.

Silkpaw wandered over to the medicine cat den, noticing the growing crowd. A few snippets of conversation was enough for her to know what was going on. Check-ups huh? Actually a good idea. She knew she was relatively healthy, but it couldn't hurt in light of what had happened to their late leader. She got into line behind Boulderstrike, offering the warrior a polite nod of her head, but otherwise not seeing the need to force conversation.

  • The bulky warrior nodded in greeting to Silkpaw before turning his attention to an all too familiar voice behind him. "If you could take your head out of your flea-ridden rear end for five seconds, you could see this goes beyond checking for the obvious. Raggedstar showed no clear signs of illness before she suddenly passed away, and whatever she had took the rest of her lives away before it could be treated."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Poppykit glanced behind herself, starting to feel a tiny bit uncertain. Was everyone going to be able to listen in on her appointment? She didn't like the idea of that. The white feline trudged forward and entered the medicine den, sitting down in front of Littlepaw. Her expression held its usual distant look, but her gaze would tell the medicine apprentice she'd be giving her her full attention. "My ears hurt a lot. Especially when people yell or talk loudly, even a little. I know ears are supposed to be sensitive but... they're especially sensitive. What should I do?" she asks, shifting on her feet in slight discomfort. She didn't like one on one conversations like this all that much

"sorry about that, then." littlepaw muttered, remembering the harsh, loud voice she'd used to yell at littlenewt. "that's weird. i've heard of cats who can't hear at all, but never of cats who can hear too well. i'm afraid i can't do anything about that, poppykit." the medicine cat apprentice admitted ruefully, hating how she wasn't able to help with the kit's problem. "is there anything else out of the ordinary?" littlepaw then proceeded to sniff the kitten for any signs of disease.

harmony made her way over to the group of cats reluctantly, sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws as she waited for her checkup. the young feline felt just fine, but she supposed a health checkup wasn't such a bad idea.

Poppykit decided she did not want to share her emotional issues with anyone (especially with a crowd so close by) so she shook her head. "... No. Just my ears." she tells Littlepaw as the apprentice inspects her, keeping herself stiff as the other sniffs at her body.

"so uh... g'day everyone." he would chuckle

"alright, you can always let me know later if there's anything else, since you do live here." the medicine cat apprentice meowed. for some reason, she was getting the vibe that something else was bothering the kit. poppy didn't have many friends, and she wasn't as happy as most other kits littlepaw had come into contact with.

"next." the young she-cat called, signaling for the cat next in line in come in.

Cats were starting to crowd up it seemed, Which made LittleNewt a little twitchy. He wasn't shy. It was just so many smells made things difficult from time to time. But he didn't speak anything. Instead twitched his ears as he heard the words 'Next' That must be him then. He figured he was next in line atleast! so silently he moved to his feet and began striding over towards LittlePaw. Stating softly. "I'll save most of the work for you, I'm as healthy as a Ox." He promised. But he suddenly realized something. Though it was a awkward thing to suggest, He had never actually had a medicine cat look at his eyes before. THough he knew there was no cure. The apprentice could possible learn a bit of what to look for in kits threw him. So he suggested. "But ah.. Maybe you'd like to give my eyes a check- I think I might have got a hair in them." He didn't like to mention blindness. So instead just said something else to give her reason to look.

Poppykit nods and steps further inside the den she called home now. "Is there anything you need for your check up? I could grab it for you. If not, I'll stay out of the way." the child offers, figuring she could make herself useful if it was so necessary. She then backs off when the next patient comes in and goes to the far back of the den to settle down in her own nest and mind her own business during everyone else's check ups.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 400px;]Winterpaw quietly limped over, her broken leg only slightly affecting her now, but it would be great to get some more advise to quicken the healing. She took a seat a little bit away from Poppykit and the medicine apprentice and watched intently. For a moment there was a flicker of regret in Winterpaws eyes. She had been on her way to medicine cat, she had loved healing with all her heart. However Starclan had made it clear that it wasn't the right path for her, and Winterpaw was slowly beginning to enjoy the life of an apprentice anyway.

littlepaw looked into the other's blind green eyes for a brief moment. the only thing that was slightly out of the ordinary was that his pupils were a lot larger than normal, and sadly, she couldn't tell him why he was blind. "everything looks fine." the black and white van meowed curtly, not forgetting what happened earlier.
