"Gross," muttered Beetlepaw, pulling back from the crowfood as she stuck out her tongue. Lightly shoving it with her paw, she pulled it from the freshkill pile. What was she even supposed to do with a mouse gone bad? Glancing around she started to drag it behind the nursery, hoping that would keep it out of the way.

[fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid transparent; width: 420px;][align=center]★[hr][justify][size=8]Turtlefur, with a mother's natural 'eyes in the back of her head', instantly noticed the actions of the apprentice. It wasn't long after her sky blue eyes settled on Beetlepaw that she was by his side, explaining, "You know, dear, there's no harm in asking. Crowfood gets buried behind the dirtplace." A light smile formed on her muzzle as she spoke, wanting to let Beetlepaw know he wasn't in trouble.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt;]Storm had been watching the apprentice. Not because he was a stalker or anything, his eyes just led him to the next event. A keen observer, one might call him.
Anyways, he watched as the apprentice pulled out an obviously rotten mouse, bite it, then began dragging it to the nursery. With a sigh, he got up from his sitting place outside the warrior's den and began trotting to stop them.
"I hope you arent planning to feed that to the kits, hm," he said, stopping infront of her before she reached the nursery. "Im sure you wouldnt have liked it if someone fed you crowfood as a kit. No? Then dont do it." No pausing, no waiting for an answer. It was an obvious answer so he didnt feel the need to. Besides, no way in the Dark Forest would he allow that. Kits were too precious.

"I highly doubt they were going she was planning on feeding it to the kits." Dawnpaw flicked her tail at Stormgaze, amused at the two different reactions from the warriors. Turtlefur with kindness, offered gestures of assistance, and the tom with his brash assumptions. It reminded her of how very different every one of her Clanmates were.
"Beetlepaw, right?" She turned now to the red-handed apprentice, amused. "Turtlefur's right. I can show you, if you want?"

Pinkkit questioned, running away from the nursery and skidding to a stop near the crowd of cats; after just a moment, however, the hairless kitten recoiled from the smell. "It doesn't smell all that yummy," the kit noted, disappointedly plopping her bald rump down in the snow.

Duskfoot had noticed the apprentice dragging the crowfood towards the nursery, an invisible eyebrow raising slightly at the sight. Getting up from where he was seated, he walked over to Beetlepaw, a neutral expression on his face. "It isn't a very good idea to put that behind the nursery," he stated, deciding to throw in his two cents. "An adventurous kit could find it and get a bellyache." Almost as soon as the words were out of his mouth, Pinkkit bounded up and began to ask questions. He snorted in amusement at the hairless kit's curiousity. "Trust me, it isn't yummy." The warrior watched Pinkkit plop down in the snow, and decided to answer her question about crowfood. "Crowfood is rotten prey, and it will make you sick if you eat it."
-
Beetlepaw puffed up in embarrassment. "I—uh, I knew that!" she stammered, clearly embarrassed. Ears pinning back, she offered an awkward grin, as if to try and salvage the situation. "I mean, I was just trying to clean up." She looked to Dawnpaw, wincing slightly at Pinkkit's and Duskfoot's exchange. Star Clan she'd messed up! "Yeah, that'd be great, actually," she mumbled, still trying to get over the initial humiliation she'd put herself through.

[fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid transparent; width: 420px;][align=center]★[hr][justify][size=8]An amused mrrow left her throat, shaking her head slightly. Turtlefur knew mistakes like that were inevitable, so she didn't see any reason to embarrass Beetlepaw further. Feathery tail swaying behind her, the silver calico began to motion towards the dirtplace. "It's over there." It would be rude of her, after all, to not show her after informing her of the proper way to dispose of such crowfood.

She bounced around the hairless feline with a smile. "Hi, Pinkkit! " before turning to look at the ground food, standing on the tip of her paws to get a better view at what Beetlemask was holding. "Eww, why would a warrior wanna catch that stuff?"

Pinkkit quickly replied, leaping to her feet and attempting to run a lap around the other kitten in turn; when Fawnkit, too, noticed the crowfood, Pinkkit stopped, allowing herself to fall over and roll a foot or so in the snow. Looking up at the other cats from her back, the kitten said: "I know, right? It's called crowfood, but it doesn't look like a crow and I don't think a crow would eat it!"

[fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid transparent; width: 420px;][align=center]★[hr][justify][size=8]A gentle purr emitted from her throat as her child bounded forward, curious as to the rotten piece of meat. Brushing her tail along Fawnkit's side, Turtlefur explained, "Crowfood is food that hasn't been eaten and gets rotten. Or prey that was sick when it was caught, and is therefore inedible." Hopefully that was well-enough explained to where the kits could understand.

Flicking her tail, Dawnpaw nodded at Beetlepaw and turned away, beginning to walk in the direction of the dirtplace. "It's not a big deal, ya know - you didn't know, that's understandable." She offered a comforting purr toward her fellow apprentice, ears relaxed and tail down. "I made the mistake of climbing a tree once, before I knew how to properly climb a tree. It was a big mistake."
