she'd spent the entire morning hunting. and, for the first time ever, she'd caught something.

the kill was a clan one, the mouse small but fat, a good meal. she'd spent hours tracking, with two failed attempts, but she'd caught. one thing she hadn't quite realized, in the midst of pessimism and negativity, was that she was capable of tracking the same exact mouse all through the forest - and she wasn't about to let him escape the wrath of thebe.

she dropped the body onto the freshkill pile, smiling like a fool and hoping someone might notice that she'd actually caught something.

Killing must feel good to God, too. He does it all the time, and are we not created in his image?

It wasn't everyday you saw the blind warrior bringing in freshkill.

Now that her injuries had fully healed, Silk had scaled the tree near the center of camp. She lounged across the lowest branch, white tipped tail curling and dancing in the air below. Why, she might have actually missed being up here. She watched as Thebe dropped her kill, looking impossibly pleased with herself. No doubt for good reason. "Why, congratulations on your catch Thebe." Her voice was soft, even, genuine without a trace of mockery. "Your hard work has paid off."

  • Thornfang made his way over with much less hostility than usual. He had once despised outsiders, and would have mocked Thebe for this only being her first catch. "Carry on the way you're going, and try your hardest. That'll be good enough, I suppose,"the elder encouraged. He still was a short tempered jerk at times, but he was no longer feeling guilty over what he had done, and was ready to carry on his life in what he believed to be the right way. It didn't matter what other cats thought of him after all. "I'll be taking that mouse."He forced a smile as he attempted to grab the mouse and chew on it slowly.

Poppykit watched the group of older clanmates and sighed, blinking her tired eyes. The smallest of things seemed to thrill everyone else, and she couldint understand it. "Is catching prey really hard? Especially in the leaf-bare? I bet the prey likes to hide from the snow. It cant be fun for them. I don't like snow either." the child asks, turning her head slowly to the freshkill pile and letting the tip of her tail twitch.

  • "It can be very challenging sometimes, yes, but that's why we like to congratulate our Clanmates when they catch something." Foxwhisker addressed Poppykit first as she left the warriors' den, a look of pleasure evident on her face. "Hey - well done, Thebe, it looks great. How is it, Thornfang?" she was glad to see the elder filling his stomach - she was also curious about the taste of the mouse. It looked quite plump and her own belly gave a soft grumble as she studied it. Her ears flattened in slight sheepishness.

at the apprentices compliment, the feline beamed a smile in the direction of her scent before focusing on thornfangs words and his decision to eat it. further delighted that the elder wanted her catch, she nodded, delighted. "i hope you enjoy it - i was tracking that thing all morning." she said with a chuckle.

the kit spoke and her head turned towards the direction, nodding at foxwhiskers reply. "the prey sleeps a lot in the leaf-bare, to rest up for new-leaf. but finding prey isn't so hard, i can smell quite well - it's just difficult to hunt with my blindness. but i think i'm getting the hang of this!" she said, smile beaming once more.

  • Upon finishing the mouse, the old tom commented, "Not perfect, but I will still be respectful, and thank StarClan for my prey. Carry on trying your hardest, for that is all I ask of you."It was strange. Thornfang still didn't really like this cat, but he found himself not disliking her, either. Surely nobody could deny that the old tom had changed from someone who was violent enough to take over a Clan to this cat right here.

They slept all leaf-bare? The child grimaced in displeasure. She couldint seem to wrap her mind around the idea of any animal sleeping a whole season. "That sounds awful lazy of them. They should be out working their little butts off to take care of their friends and families like us!" Poppykit says firmly with her ears arched back, stomping a paw in the ground as if to emphasize her point.
