• Summary: After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, America goes to war with Germany and Japan. Many Americans join the military. Only the best join the paratroopers. You are a paratrooper. You start with training in Camp Toccoa, Georgia and then move on to D-Day and eventually the capture of Hitler's Eagle's nest

    Location: Camp Tacoa Georgia

"Line Up, NOW!!!" Captain Sobel yelled at the men. He was determined to have the best paratrooper company at the camp. In fact, they weren't just going to be the best company in the camp, they were going to be the best paratrooper company in the whole U.S. army. And, even better, he was determined to prepare them for war. "I said line up," he shouted.

  • Vincent Hackett followed his fellow soldiers' example as he lined up alongside them, raising his hand to salute the commanding officer. This wasn't exactly his favorite part of the day, but he guessed it was necessary if he ever wanted to become one of the best. Silently watching the captain as he repeated his order, he would roll his eyes slightly. He wanted to say something, really, but that would probably mean the end of his rather short career. "Just say what you want to say..." the man thought as he waited, not moving a single inch.

    OOC:
IC: Lucky literally ran, only to line up be in the back. His round glasses were slightly falling off his face, luckily he pushed them up. He looked to his sister who was still not okay with her brother being drafted. He was going to be a priest not a soldier. He smiled giving her a thumbs up, of which made her roll her eyes. He then saluted, the General.

Sally watched the men line up from a distance, she saw her brother perform the gesture. She rolled her eyes in response, her brother was to naive for this war. Other than that she watched before muttering about the man yelling at them under her breath.

The men and woman looked disorganized. This was by all means a group new to the military. He saw the man (Lucky) attempt a salute, though he didn't do it right. Furthermore, this group did not wear their clothes the way he liked them. Clothes weren't ironed, shoes needed polishing, and even their coats weren't worn properly. Even worse, was there stance. They were standing like average people, not soldiers. Most of them didn't even hold their weapons right and none of the weapons were polished. He chose to start with the man called Lucky. He looked at the nametag and said, "Incorrect salute, Private O'Neil! Your weak-end pass is revoked." He then walked in front of Private Hackett. "Incorrect weapon posture. Pass Revoked." He proceeded to Sally. He grabbed her rifle and walked up front, fiercely. "I wouldn't take this piece of crap to war and I'm not gonna be taking you to war in this condition. This weapon is incorrectly loaded and it isn't polished. Your pass is revoked." He handed Sally her rifle before proceeding to list a few other offences from soldiers in the group and then proceeded back to the front. "As a result of the infractions of these soldiers, anyone who still has a weekend pass, has now lost it! I will say though, I was nice, today. This is the U.S. paratroopers, not the circus. There were several other infractions, even from those I didn't call out. Now get on your running gear. We're running Curahee."

    OOC:
IC: Sally if one thing was sure hated people touching her stuff, the fiery girl in just the five seconds hated this man. She had to be held back, by Lucky who whispered, "Don't do it, Sal, it's not worth it." She relaxed, though she would be up front to Captain Sobel later.

Lucky nodded willingly, "Yes captain." He then noticed Sally who's rifle was taken by Sobel, he knew his sister and how she had a problem with the man from the start. When she went for him, Lucky held her back, "Sal," no answer but muttering, "Don't do it Sal, it's not worth it." She later relaxed, after a few moments. If one thing was certain, Lucky knew his sister would one of two things, bundle up her emotions or be up front with her disliking for Sobel.

  • "We had a pass?" It was Hackett's first thought as Sobel continued to yell. Huh... He guessed it didn't matter as they had already lost it. Not that he wanted it, he was here to become stronger and better, not to rest on the weekends. The training was going to be hard for sure, but he knew fully well that you had to cross boundaries if you ever wanted to be one of the best.

Nodding as the order was given, Hackett would follow the other privates' example once more, soon standing with the others in his running gear. He was quite sure the Curahee was going to be a challenge, but he could probably handle it. Or at least he hoped he could. Failing now would probably making him the laughing stock once more.

As soon as the soldiers had finished changing and were standing in front of him, Captain Sobel remembered that they had no idea what "Curahee" was. They'd never run it or hiked it. "Follow me," he shouted, leading them to a large mountain near the camp. "This is Curahee," Captain Sobel said, "You'll be running three miles up, and three miles down. One more thing, I want to train you self control. These canteens are filled with water." He pointed to a few boxes of canteens beside him. "I want you to take one with you on your run. You are only to drink about half of the water. Drinking less is acceptable, but drinking more will mean running the mountain until you get the drill right. Now, going. HURRY!!!"

    OOC:
IC: Sally and Lucky stayed with each other, she was quite upset with Sobel pushing her boundaries. She kept going in front of Lucky he drank when necessary but his sister was not even hydrating herself. She just kept moving, "Sal drink something! You're going to get sick!" He yelled across the mountain at the two mile mark.
"No Lucky. I'm showing that son of a bitch I can be better!" She said back before going faster, the girl really was pushing her limits. She finished after rat least a few soldiers, her brother following behind. He was almost at the halfway mark with his water, Sally only drank a little bit. She was seemingly sick and pale. She walked over to Sobel, spewing out, "You see you son of a bitch I can be a paratrooper." She fell to her knees curling up and holding back puke. She was trembling, soon feeling her brother try to get her to stop purging her limits, "Sal come on, you're gonna make yourself worse."
Sally just shook her head, she wasn't going to give up not now not ever. She gagged but that was really it, no sign vomit coming up.

  •
Sobel scoffed at what she said, "You are right, you are better than THESE F'ing NOOBS!!!! However, you are not where you need to be by far. A regular paratrooper would be able to go twice the distance without so much as a drop from his canteen gone. Now shut the f' up and keep running!" Sobel was gonna turn these guys from wimps into soldiers. He was more than determined and he was gonna do whatever it took. He looked at Lucky and noticed his cantine was already almost half gone. "Get off the hill, refill your canteen and do it again," he yelled at Lucky, "There isn't a way in the world you'd have finished with your canteen as full as I wanted it. NOW HURRY UP! We've got training to do."

  • Vincent nodded as he grabbed one of the canteens, carefully studying it before starting his own run. He wasn't the smartest, but he fully knew it would take him longer to go up than to go down. In other words, if he drank a quarter while going up, he would be safe. Or at least he hoped he would. "Here we go" he thought as he followed his fellow soldiers up the mountain, determined to keep going no matter what happened.

As time progressed, though, he started to understand why the paratroopers were considered the best of the best. Self-control was something he didn't seem to have, so he had decided to put the canteen somewhere he couldn't see it, knowing he had already used a quarter. In the end, he would make it right after Lucky and his sister, watching the scene in silence. He guessed he would have to show his own canteen to the captain as well and thus went to grab it, only to notice it was gone. It probably dropped somewhere on the way. Sighing, he would turn around. "Don't worry, I'm going back already" he said as he started running once more, not even waiting for the captain's response. Probably something about being inresponsible and stuff.

"You stupid idiot," Sobel yelled, seeing the mistake, "Don't stop now. I know you lost your canteen but you've got a better chance of finishing going up and finding it on your way down. Then, you can't drink it anyway. Get back up and thats an order. If you don't find your canteen on your way down, then I guess I'll figure out what your punishment is then. My guess is that you dropped it, though. Think SMART, not HARD. Now get to the f'ing top of the hill." Sobel sighed in disbelief. These soldiers weren't just pathetic and weak...they seemed to be stupid as well.

    OOC:
IC: Sally staggered up, and kept going. She didn't even drink, well that was until her legs gave out and she puked. Lucky who wasn't far ahead pulled up his sister's hair. Sally at first shoved him away, but only for a moment, before curling up in a fetal position. She after a few seconds staggered up and ran, still refusing to drink. Soon Lucky went with her, he watched his sister to make sure she would be careful with herself.

They got back down, Lucky drank less than before and Sally had only drank a sip. Only because her brother forced her too. Sally muttered before looking at Sobel, "Look you gonna keep torturing us or what?" she harshly remarked. Lucky only sighed, knowing his sister wasn't even close to using her filter.

  • Vincent sighed as he turned around yet again, slowly growing a bit frustrated. The guy really was annoying and it seemed you could literally do nothing right. Anyway, he managed to reach the top with little problems, besides the thirst the mountain wasn't really that hard. "Right, now to find that canteen..." he grumbled as he ran back down. This was a lot easier than running upwards, of course, although he had to make sure he wouldn't fall.

Hackett would arrive without his canteen, simply because he hadn't been able to find it. He had tried to find it, but he had had no idea where to look for it and in the end, he had simply given up. His hands on his knees, the private would recover from the run for a few seconds, but soon focused on the captain who was being yelled at by Sally. She had pretty much said everything already, so he just remained silent, waiting for his possible punishment for losing the canteen.

  •

Sure enough, Sobel went to yelling at other soldiers. Then, he turned back on Lucky and Sally. He saw her throwing up and Lucky, disobeying his direct command. "There are a few things wrong with this," he yelled at them, "First," he said directly to Lucky, "you should be heading down to refill your canteen so you can run this hill, again!" With that done, he could now focus on the overacheaver crybaby girl. "Take a drink from your canteen and thats an order! You think I expect you to get up and down this mountain without taking so much as a sip of water? No, I knew you couldn't. I will give you this, you beat the other soldiers at the risk of your health. That is why you ration it out. That's the whole purpose of this. You drink too much and you don't have enough for later and you drink too little and this is what happens. Not get a hold of yourself and then finish the drill. Oh, and Lucky won't be helping you. I'll make sure you'll get to the hospital if that becomes necassary. I'm just weeding out those that don't deserve to be in the finest company of paratroopers." Sure enough, a few of the group had already quit. Those who were week either began to get strong or quit.

  • I've been through the desert on a horse with no name.

OOC: interesting sally's gonna get pissed.
IC: Sally muttered under her breath, doing so. She and Lucky head down the hill after he refilled his canteen. Sally continued to mutter, before Lucky spoke, "You're muttering." He said smiling. Sally just sighed, before going further. She wasn't in the mood, not after how Sobel was treating them.

  • Hackett was one of those who wanted to become strong, although he wasn't exactly weak. Sure, he wasn't strong (certainly not when compared to Sobel's standards), but at least it seemed he wasn't the weakest of the company. Or maybe he was just more determined than some of them. But his determination was nothing when compared to Sally, who seemed to have done the whole trip without drinking anything, or close to nothing anyway.

As the drill continued, Hackett would shake his head slightly before continuing as well. The drill was almost over, or at least this part was. He wasn't sure if the captain had something else in store for them, but it certainly wouldn't surprise him.

  •

Everyone finally finished the drill. It seemed like long enough. Sobel waited for them to line up again before speaking. "Tonight will NOT happen again. Almost two thirds of the company failed to do the order the first time. Half of the remaining one third lost their canteens. I have not, yet, assigned punishments to those who lost their canteens. Hmm, let me see." He thought for a second before half-smirking, "I have just the thing. You all can do some cleaning before bed. Clean the cafeteria. I want you guys to clean the kitchen, dining room, and storage area. I had best not find even a spec of dust on anything because you do not want to know what the punishment is if you do."

  • I've been through the desert on a horse with no name.

    OOC:
IC: Sally and Lucky obeyed, but Sally did so reluctantly. The two took over the kitchen, Sally humming the song, Blue Moon to herself. As she literally cleaned dishes. Lucky was mopping the floors, eyeing his little sister on occasion. He really worried about Sally, being the only girl in Easy company. He knew that she would struggle and the war would have a big impact on her.

  • Vincent tilted his head slightly, slightly confused. He had heard a few cleaning stories, but he had never thought they were actually true. It seemed as though he would have one to talk about in the future himself as well. "I do want to know, though..." he thought as he walked towards the kitchen as well. He really hated cleaning, so maybe that other punishment wouldn't be all that bad. On the other hand, making an enemy out of your own comrades probably wasn't the best idea.

Moments later, Hackett could be found in the kitchen, cleaning out the cabinets with a cloth. He had no idea if he was doing it right, but at least the dirt was disappearing and that was all he cared about. "So, why did you guys join the company?" he asked without looking up, trying to start some kind of conversation to make the experience a bit more enjoyable.
