The white elephant had woken, covered in dew. That was all it had been, a passage from sleep to awake, except it had been far more abrupt that that. It had included the sudden acknowledgement of information. He was a star, he knew. Not in the mortal, fame-followed kind. Distant, benevolent. Yet somehow his path had cascaded to earth. He didn't know how. But he though he knew why.
You see, the mild behemoth could see emotions. Not sense them. Not interpret them, from a number of complex tip-offs. Their blues and glitter and veils of green wafted around the mortal - or consciousness, because emortals had these too. He knew that he saw that. And he knew that was unusual. So, therefore, knowing emotions was something special, so he must have collided with the earth for such a reason. He, as a star, was sent to help them. He would glow when he slept, he knew also, and couldn't tell a lie. Knowingly or not. But he was here, he knew it, to spread some joy.
Logically, that meant locating some recipients. He couldn't spread joy without encounters. The more creatures, the better. The vague wisps and tendrils of particularly strong emotions beckons to him, and he followed. It took a while. He got a little hungry, but discouraged himself from detouring. He wasn't here for himself. He needed to help others first. Finally his innate sense drew him near where a general glow permeated the air. There were a lot of people here, yes. And there were a lot of people with sadness and fear and anger and the horrible bruising in their colours. Here was a good start.
He wasn't really sure how to approach them. So, he plonked his but upon the ground, ready to wait. Stars were great at waiting, he decided. He couldn't really remember much of being a star, but that would be because it was irrelevant. No significance to his mission. He could wait. As long as was needed. Yep, that was what he'd do. He wait here patiently and-
The juvenile elephant lay curled, snoring, bathed in an unearthly silver glow.
summary: literal star. Elephant can see emotions and glows when asleep and can't lie. Asleep on border and glowing (which isn't really a normal trait). Male, btw.
