He wasn't very happy. Not upset, really, but not happy either. There was some big news that he had to deliver, something that would probably bring shock to his clanmates - more specifically the one clanmate that was really effected by his next decision. But what was done was done and he certainly wouldn't allow it to go unpunished. Inhaling, mentally preparing himself for what he had to say, the tom glanced around the camp.

"Everybody! I've got an announcement." He didn't bother using the regular meeting call, as it wasn't his place anyways. Instead, he would use a makeshift one. It was fine enough. "I'm afraid that due to your inactivity last moon, Littlepaw, you're being demoted. From now on, you will train as a regular apprentice. With that being said, the position of medicine cat apprentice is now open. I would suggest trying to show your worth sometime soon if you're interested."

It wasn't news that he would like to deliver, but it was certainly necessary news. His clanmates deserved to have medicine cats that were around at a moment's notice. What if somebody got hurt out in the woods and ended up bleeding out because they didn't get there fast enough? Lord knows he didn't need that. Though, then again, maybe he was just worrying too much... Ugh, no, he needed to do this. Glancing around at the crowd, he waited to see their reactions.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border:0px; width: 500px;text-align:justify;]Littlepaw was quite shocked. Well, maybe not. He was quite content learning to be a medicine cat, but perhaps the job wasn't for him. They certainly deserved a medicine cat who could respond on time, and that somebody wasn't him. He hadn't been around to help the clan when they needed it most. It had made him feel a twinge of guilt. Littlepaw had an apologetic look. "Sorry," he murmured mostly to himself. He was sure whoever would be the next medicine cat apprentice would be more fit for the job. Being relieved from the job lifted off a heavy burden off his shoulders. He took a deep breath. "I, uh, hope Starclan picks somebody more suited for the job," he added more hopefully with a pressing smile.

  • Graykit couldn't keep herself from jumping as she heard the medicine cats words. She had always loved the idea of herbs. Or rather, helping. Her parents had died from something that, had it been treated they could've been saved from. But of course it had been to late. Gray hated that. So naturally she wanted no one else to go through that. "U- I umm... can I try?" The small kit squeaked. She was almost apprentice aged, but she was a small girl. No bigger than someone say, three moons old. But hopefully her size wouldn't matter.
Oh but then suddenly she became self conscious about that very thought. Did you have to actually look your age to be a medicine cat? "I'm not really sure what I could do." The small kit shook her head, having no idea how to prove herself when there were so many who could probably do much better than she ever could.
But hey, it was worth a shot right? Especially since she'd still have a future even if this didn't work out.
The kit smiled up at Audenine, hoping the medicine cat would hear her squeaking voice over the commotion.

oh, littlepaw. hearing her half-brother's demotion, she felt an unexpected pang of sadness in her heart. though she was regretful, thrushstar had noticed that littlepaw hadn't been as keen to help his clan mates or learn medicine last moon. "you'll make a good warrior apprentice." she meowed, reassuring brushing her tail over the young tom's back. with graykit's enthusiasm, thrushstar couldn't help but hope one of her own kittens got the position. perhaps barleykit, or little blizzardkit.

Briarkit sat by the nursery, tufty ears perked eagerly as she listened to Audenine's announcement. So, the position of medicine cat apprentice was officially open? Would I be good at medicine? No, the spirited kitten knew she could never do that. She knew her destiny was to fight with tooth and claw, defending SkyClan. Not stuck in some den sorting weird-smelling herbs. No thanks. She wondered if any of her siblings would be interested in taking the position. But it was a while until they were apprentices. She, personally, couldn't wait to go out and learn the ways of a warrior.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 375px;]Gingerkit wandered over, ears perked in quiet interest-- Which was new for a kit that was relatively wild and loud. Medicine cat apprentice? To be honest, he had zero clue if he was destined for medicine or the life of a warrior-- At least the option was there now, though.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 470px; color: silver; font-size: 8pt; text-align: justify;]Ivykit couldn't say she was very surprised to hear the announcement being made though she couldn't help, but to feel bad for Littlepaw. However, that it was probably for the best. Now, it left room for another that may be more active and enthusiastic about the position. If she were to be totally honest, it was something that had always interested the young female. Perhaps, that was because it reminded of her of one of her siblings that had went missing and maybe because she was rather compassionate soul at heart. Thing was, her mother would have never wanted for her to be of such ranking. From what she had gathered, her mother wanted for her to be a strong, fierce warrior like herself. So, Ivy kept her mouth shut in order to please her.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; bordercolor=transparent; color:; font-size: 12pt; text-align: justify; overflow: auto; width: 500px;]Hailkit couldn't find it within himself to feel sorry for Littlepaw. He'd had his chance in a rank that required your utmost attention and concentration, and he blew it; especially when they had needed him, someone with training, the most. And Hailkit -- remembering the current medicine cat's words to him about working alongside the male -- felt something like enthusiasm brighten his eyes and fluff up his fur in an interest that was rarely seen in him, excitement starting to creep up on him like a forgotten friend. He was five moons now; almost an apprentice, and the large SkyClanner would yearn for the days to come, days that he would prove himself to Aud that he had potential that he was willing to live up to. Twitching his whiskers, the feline would step forward to confront the male before a voice sounded and a much smaller kitten was rounding on Audy, causing Hailkit's voice to catch and he stepped back, reluctant to go any further. You can't just ask to be a medicine cat, Hailkit thought irritably, but kept his jaws shut, lest he provoke someone again with his sharp words.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:350px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt] adderkit didn't pay enough attention just yet to notice littlepaw's lack of commitment. padding up silently besides her mother, the brown tabby kit would silently listen to her clanmates' condolences for littlepaw's lost as well as greykit's own inquiry as to whether or not they could full the position. how silly, only apprentice aged cats could do that. personally, the she-kit would have had no interest in fulling the position of a medicine cat apprentice if she was of age. herbs seemed far too boring for her own interest. the life of a warrior appealed to her far more. amber eyes would flick around the slowly growing group with mild interest. she doubted a new apprentice would be taken on this very moment, normally such things were announced after a bit of time based on the elder's stories.

    [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 390px; font-size: 7pt; text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;]
Otterpaw approached, some aspect of wonder in her big, green eyes; the molly knew, of course, that warrior training came hard to her. But she could do it -- she could fight through it, if she tried hard enough, yes -- whatever stunted her strength would not stop her from being an athlete. But here, before her, was another option; another path. A path that she would have to fight for, if she wanted it -- but Otterpaw was a fighter. And, in that moment, Otterpaw decided she would fight.

The brown-furred apprentice searched Audenine's gaze; seeked to make some sort of eye contact with her clanmate, acknowledge his search. Otterpaw was a hard worker -- no matter how hard she stifled the secret, her extra training was fairly obvious. Perhaps this would show through to Audenine? Perhaps this spot could be hers?

Adrenaline pumped like cold metal in the apprentice's veins, and she opened her mouth to speak: to ask for some sort of meeting, some practice, some chance to show her determination. Nothing but a squeak came out, though; and the ever-anxious apprentice, just a bit downtrodden, decided to talk to Audenine at a later moment. Here, with all these people, was far too much.

    Wasppaw of Skyclan

Called into curiosity by the meeting, Wasppaw perked his pale ears as he padded forward, wondering what could be so urgent that the medicine cat themselves had called it. The announcement was given, swift and rather bluntly, and Wasppaw couldn't help but wince himself by it. He shot Littlepaw a sympathetic glance, knowing it must have been hard for him to lose his high rank. "Im sure you could get it back someday, littlepaw," he said optimistically, nudging the apprentice's shoulder gently.
He himself wasn't too interested in the position. It would be nice, being able to heal rather than hurt others, but if Wasppaw was being truly honest, a part of him rather dreamed of the idea of being a dad someday. He wanted to raise a family, to protect and hunt for said family, and to live a life loyal to his leader and deputy. You cant have a family if you're a medicine cat.
Still, to whoever caught Audinine's eye and won the rank, he wished them truly the best of luck.

  • every day's my lucky day!

!! - Stumpy perked his ears towards Audenine, hearing the medicine cat announce poor Littlepaw's demotion. Huh, poor Littlepaw. He thought, with a frown. Though, he wondered who the next medicine cat apprentice would be. Someone obviously graceful and knowledgable, he thought with an irritable mindset. He didn't think he could learn and apply medicinal knowledge very well, and he could never imagine him working in the medicine den. Perhaps it was suitable for him, though, as he wasn't the best at hunting and couldn't climb a tree to save his life. Although, he was just an apprentice, so obviously those things did not come naturally to those of that age. But still, he just didn't want to train as a medicine cat apprentice, even if he thought he could never actually scale a tree or hunt down a crafty squirrel. Perhaps the new medicine cat apprentice could be a cat he knew. The excitement and suspense were somewhat present, as he thought of who would suit the title.

  • [fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid #000000; width: 550px; font-size: 12px; line-height: 95%; text-align: justify; front-family: cordiaupc;]Curious as to what was so important that Audenine called some sort of meeting, Poppypaw followed the rest of the apprentices, standing next to Wasppaw. Littlepaw's being demoted? It was a shame, and she couldn't help but feel bad for the poor apprentice. But, hey! At least she had a new denmate! "It's okay, Littlepaw! You'll make a good warrior," she said, hoping to be comforting. She wouldn't want to have to go through this. Personally, she wasn't interested in the position, finding it a bit boring and difficult. She would much rather be a warrior, hunting and fighting for her clan. To each their own, though, she supposed.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 500px; text-align: justify;]Honeypaw

That was unfortunate. Honeypaw wore a heavy frown on his lips, glancing over at his guilty brother. He seemed to be more full of guilt than sorrow. Perhaps that was a good thing. Then, Littlepaw's focus would not be very clouded. Maybe he'd even discover than warrior life was more suiting to him. If not.. then maybe his poor brother was simply doomed for the nursery to help with the kits! That was sure be a sigh. Honeypaw cleared his throat and he rose to full height, stalking stealthily to Littlepaw's side. The tall apprentice attempted to give the smaller feline a gentle nudge with his shoulder. "Want me to help you get started?" He was sort of hopeful that he would be able to show Littlepaw what it was like to be a warrior apprentice, instead of a medicine cats. It would be a pretty big jump, going from that den to the open forest to hunt for the entire Clan and fend off those who did not belong. With enough encouragement, Honeypaw was sure Littlepaw would be a great enough warrior.

He wasn't very concerned about the empty rank of medicine cat apprentice. Audinine surely had countless moons of life left in him. It would be a while before he slipped off to join the ranks of their ancestors (they could only hope). Still, there would be plenty of candidates popping up behind every corner, especially with all these kits.
