  • [I have a new laptop (and it ish beautiful x3)]

A challenge was always fun for kittens, and Cypresskit was not an exception. Feeling strangely rambunctious, she sprang to the side of the moss ball, purring madly as she batted the moss ball harder back toward her new friend.

[And sure! Chronokitty (Voltkit's RPer) and I sort of share her, but a plot sounds fun!]

    OOC: Smiles for beauty~
That would be awesome! Would you like me to RP her about the plot?

IC: Havenpaw giggled and flicked her tail, jumping towards the moss ball like an apprentice. The spunky grey apprentice flicked the ball up in the air, passing it towards Cypresskit. The ball almost touched the roof when it began to fall. Havenpaw watched to see what the young black kit would do with it.

  • [What is the plot you have in mind? Why don't you PM me about it first, see if I'm interested?]

Cypresskit didn't expect there to be so much power behind the blow. The ball flew upward, nearly scraping off of the den's ceiling before coming down toward her face. Her immediate reaction was to flinch back, the ball missing her by quite a long shot in the end. Recovering quickly, the black she-kit flashed her friend a smaller, embarrassed smile, before humbly passing the ball back toward her.

  • OOC: Sure^^ I'll PM you the details ;) I kinda maybe wanted a little defensive plot, like when Havenpaw walks in on Cypresskit getting beaten by her mother... Sounds good?

IC: Havenpaw laughed with a silly and giggly purr. She smiled teasingly at Cypresskit then passed the ball back to her once more, a little gentler then before. "Did the ball scare you?" she asked the young black kit with a semi concerned tone, her eyes glittering with her playful nature. She was scared that Cypresskit was scared of the mss ball, it's not like it would hurt if it fell on her, but she still wanted to make sure she was alright.

  • Cypresskit felt her face grow hot under her pelt as Havenpaw laughed, and batted it back at the older she-cat. "It didn't scare me." she mewed quietly, though that was only partly true. It had...sort of. Normally, claws were what came at her face, so it had been a natural reaction to flinch back when anything was coming at her. "It was just a reflex."

[So far it sounds good. PM me the details, and we'll work something out ^^]

  • OOC: Kay^^ I'll PM you when I get all my thoughts collected!

IC: Havenpaw smiled and gave Cypresskit a look of serenity. "If I was you, that moss ball would have scared me" she replied with a frightened tone, trying to hide any fake sounding pitches on her mew. The grey she-cat batted it back to Cypresskit with a gentle shove. "Do you have any siblings Cypresskit?" the young apprentice asked. She wanted to get to know the young black she-kit better, maybe she would open up to her.

  • [Sure. Take your time]

Really? Cypresskit doubted that she would have been scared of a stupid moss ball, but didn't say anything. She didn't like it that Havenpaw was lying to her, but at least she was trying to be nice to her. She batted the ball back toward the grey she-cat, a lot less enthusiastically than she had earlier when they had been playing.

Siblings? She didn't even want to get started on that. She was absolutely silent for a moment, contemplating her answer so that she didn't end up revealing how much she feared her sister. Finally, she mewed quietly (since she was a terrible actress and couldn't pull off a cheery disposition), "One. I have a sister; her name's Voltkit."

  • OOC: Kay^^

IC: Havenpaw nodded and flicked her tail, sensing the young kits hesitation in her voice. The grey she-cat didn't know weather or not to continue the touchy subject, she flicked her tail then passed it back once more. "I like your name better" the grey apprentice complimented Cypresskit with a bright smile.

"Are you close with your sister? I never had any siblings growing up so I wouldn't know how to tell" Havenpaw lied with a smooth mew. She wanted to find out if Voltkit was the source of Cypresskit's uncertainty.

  • Cypresskit didn't detect any lies in her first comment, and the compliment made her smile. "You think so?" she mewed. Little did she know, of course, what Havenpaw's next question was. Had she known, she would have been sure to carefully prepare her response, but of course, she didn't have that kind of time.

The truth was, she was terrified of her sister, because she either used her as a scapegoat and got her in trouble with her mother, or she hit her herself. Cypresskit knew that if she told the grey apprentice what went on in her family, and either her mother or Voltkit found out, she'd be...well, she'd be screwed. Desertfire would probably disown her. Or kill her.

So, she tried her best to come up with a lie that wouldn't give her away too much. "We get along all right. I mean, we bicker a lot, but don't all siblings fight every once in a while?"

  • Havenpaw smile faded slightly, her eyes turned to the ground as Cypresskit spoke of her last comment. She never had siblings. When a kit did talk to her, it was to mock and make her feel bad, seeing as she was a once a loner's kit. She watched other siblings in jealousy but never spoke out about it. Keeping her positive and happy nature seemed to heal some of the emotional wounds that rested in her soul.

"I never had siblings, so I wouldn't know" Havenpaw relied with a saddening tone, shaking her head and trying to clear the jealous feeling inside. "It's good that you get along" she changed her mood all together in a single instant, her green eyes filling with a fake and slapped on positivity, passing the moss ball to Cypresskit's feet lightly.

  • Cypresskit knew that somehow she had upset her friend, and frankly, she didn't like that at all? But what was she supposed to say? If she told her...Who knew that her mother would do to her if word got out? Certainly something worse than the many scars she had already placed on her poor daughter. The queen called Mintdapple--Inkkit's mother--suddenly came to mind, what with her constant yelling and threats, and how she had hit Heronkit. She was almost worse, except that she didn't hit her own kits.

Her ears folding back onto her skull--a sure sign of her inner conflict--she said nothing, instead batting the ball back toward her friend. She hated to see her upset, though she could see that Havenpaw was trying her best to put on a brave face. Doesn't work. she thought miserably. No matter how happy you look on the outside, it changes none of the inner pain.

[^^I dislike this post. Too sad ;n;]

  • OOC: Me too :/

IC: Havenpaw passed the moss ball back to Cypresskit. She wasn't really feeling like playing with the moss ball anymore, but continued to just stay with Cypresskit. The young apprentice gave a fake smile and flicked her tail. She knew that Cypresskit was hurt emotionally, she could also see the scares along the kits body that she had been trying to hide earlier when they had first meet.

    "Are you having fun?"

  • Was she having fun? Not at all.

Cypresskit could easily tell that her friend was upset, but she was at loss for what to do. Had she had known that Havenpaw had noticed the scars along her flank, she would have left right then, storming off in a fit of tears. But, of course, she didn't know that she knew, because at the moment, her black pelt was perfectly covering up the thin white lines.

With a heavy sigh, she swatted at the mossball, sending it across the nursery away from Havenpaw. She was sick of the game anyway, what with the mood being so low. "What's wrong?" she asked, obviously concerned. She didn't like to see others suffer.

  • [just from my last post. have Havenpaw answer Cypress's question, maybe?]

    Cypresskit waited.

  • Havenpaw felt Cypresskit's eye's on her with a questioning glow. The grey apprentice shook her head, then thought for a moment. Nothing was wrong, just a bad feeling about his young kit popped into her mind. She sighed and looked at the young kit with a fake strengths.

"Just thinking" she replied honestly, giving Cypresskit a quick wink.

  • Cypresskit frowned, brow creased in concern. Honestly, she thought that Havenpaw was lying. She had looked so sad--there was no way that there wasn't something wrong with her. But, it seemed that she didn't want to talk about it, so the black she-kit wouldn't press her for details. Shrugging mentally, she forced a weak smile. "Oh, okay."

  • Havenpaw looked at Cypresskit with her thick green eyes, filled with a bright yet slightly distant glaze. She wondered if the kit would like to walk about the camp, seeing as the mother nor any other queen was around to look after the young kit. She felt bad for the she-kit, her siblings were no where to be found as well as her timid personality seeming to make her a loner.

"Would you like to go for a walk?"

  • Cypresskit's frown deepened at Havenpaw's suggestion. It would be rude to turn down the apprentice's offer, especially after she had been so nice. But what if her mother just happened to be outside when they left? She would flay her for sure, and today she didn't think she could take any more scars. In short, she began to panic, at loss for what to do in this situation.

Wide orange eyes turned on the she-cat, she stammered. "I-I can't go outside. I'm s-sorry."

  • It was Havenpaw's turn to frown, looking at the apprentice with a confused expression. "Why not?" she asked the kit boldly, not seeing why she couldn't go outside and into the camp. Her gaze flickered onto the nursery entrance, was there something out there? Why couldn't the kit go?

  • She should've known that Havenpaw would've asked 'why not' but of course, Cypresskit had been panicked (and still was). There was no way out of this situation--she had already said too much. Glancing around to either side, as if she could find an escape route, she noted that the nursery was close to empty. Voltkit wasn't around.

Could she get away with telling Havenpaw the truth? If Voltkit wasn't around, there was no one to tell her mother what had occurred, and Cypresskit still wanted Havenpaw's friendship. It was at stake, however, if she kept lying through her teeth like this. So, with a deep breath, she answered as honestly as possible.

"My mother doesn't want me to leave the nursery. Not until I'm an apprentice."
