He shouldn't even be on a walk, being blind and unused to this new terrain. Trees were a constant hazard, so he was honing his senses by slowly trodding past them. This simple affair was also a challenge, the challenge presented by the ever-present, ever-sticky mud squishing around his paws after every step. His tiny paws were sure to find every crevice that they could trip into. It was pitiful-- he wasn't even that far from camp.

The air, even this far down, smelled of rain to come. Jayfeather knew that he should be staying inside, but he didn't want to be stuck in that stone hole for much longer. He needed some fresh air and loneliness. Ah, but the loneliness was getting near unbearable at this point. It was easy to feel alone in a crowd.

  • [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 400px][justify][size=8] Like Jayfeather, Fish had spread his metaphorical wings and taken off to the wilderness to also spend some time by his lonesome, though his reason varied quite a bit. Being banished to clans of such a friendly caliber was bloody torture. Everyone was so nice. There was no killing, no hope of a pecking order, it made the jaguar a little nauseas, not to mention he was scared of saying his oh-so-favorite word, fuck, in case it might hurt someone's "wittle-feelings." His lengthy frame lay stretched overhead on a cypress tree, marbled frame, though bright, blending in quite well to the ivy that refused to die even in the winter months. With rain coming, he'd likely have to head into the caves to avoid the onslaught, but for now he'd enjoy the outdoors. Claustrophobia was a fear he wouldn't admit to anyone, but it was very real. Caves and tunnels and buildings kind of did it in for him, primarily because he was old fashioned, not quite caught up on the times that the newer, younger animals thrived in.

Kingfisher's big bright eyes were almost closed, almost lulling himself to sleep when the striped form of Jayfeather waltzed by. Should it have been anyone else, Fish probably wouldn't have cared but Jayfeather- wasn't he blind? Gaze becoming readily widened, the jaguar perked up a little, thoroughly amused by what he saw.

"You know for a blind guy, you sure can see pretty well."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 400px; font-size: 10pt; text-align: justify][font=georgia]"Shut up." Jayfeather growled, whipping around (though it wouldn't have done him any good). The fur on his spine lifted as he tried to place the voice, and his twitching nose could only find the scent of an unfamiliar feline. Not even feline. Panther was the right word. He glared, not in the right direction, but hopefully it would make a statement.

Ah, he'd found who had spoken it. Wasn't it the other jerk in the Clan? Unlike him, Jayfeather wasn't mean for his own amusement. From the way he moved, and the under-rumble of his voice, he assumed that he was big. As big as one of the lioness's, but with a fishier smell. But for the love of StarClan, he couldn't place his name. "Who are you?" he asked, thoroughly annoyed now.

  • [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 400px][justify][size=8] The little way the tom was so spunky, so aggravated, Kingfisher couldn't have smiled any less. The tabby, even impaired, had such bite. One might think, if they simply heard him without knowing he was blind, that his foul attitude would make him a potent opponent. But what was he other than a useless hunk of flesh? Blind. Pathetic. Angry. Even though Fish's eyes were dull and hardened by abuse, they still far surpassed Jayfeather's. Did the male have something to prove? All of these things swamped him as he got to his feet, clambering down the branch so that he could make his way to the ground with a large thunk. "Kingfisher. I thought we'd already met before. Your memory as bad as your eyes?"

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 400px; font-size: 10pt; text-align: justify][font=georgia]Jayfeather's eyes had never been abused, but who knew? They might have been pushed into his mother's sides while he was still in the womb, probably by his brother, and that's why they were useless now. Jayfeather sighed. Was it someone else who would taunt him, solely because he was blind? No, it's because you're being a hardass. The ground shook as the other male leaped down to stand before him, and Jayfeather didn't cringe backwards, surprisingly. He just stumbled a little, and faced Fish with a gleam of defiance in his glazed eyes. "Of course not." he snorted, rolling them now. "I guess I've never asked for your name."

He didn't know if it was a friendly jab or a genuine taunt, but Jayfeather had never stressed all that much about his memory, so it wasn't that much of a deal. "How much do you weigh anyway?" he grumbled, tapping the ground with a paw. Was it all for show, the noisy landing? It was kind of embarrassing, so he'd remark on it to get it out of the way.
