The clink of the metal door swing shut behind me, made the due on my back stand straight up and my lips peel back in a vicious snarl. They took me from my freedom, from my life. The barks of other dogs made me angrier, more taken from their homes. I spotted a little two legged girl walking up and down the aisle, holding her parents hand until she spotted a small puffball of a dog. She scooped the creature up into her arms and squealed, an awful sound. I had once been owned by a little girl like that, hopefully I would never be again. I searched my surroundings for a way out of this metal cage. The dogs in the cages next to me were both curious looking. One was large, larger than myself and all black. The other reminded me of the white puffball tha was picked by the little girl. Neither seemed to be much help to myself. I spotted a loose corner of the chain link by the front of the cage. I began to tear at it making the hole larger and larger. No more humans walked down the aisle so I had not yet been caught. If I made this hole large enough, perhaps I would be able to get out.

I paced around my cage angrily. I didn't want to be adopted, I didn't want to be stuck in here. I was perfectly fine being a stray. I liked it that way. No worrying on wether your person was going to leave you and not being tied down to one place and one place only. I almost got adopted by a couple but the look in their eyes meant danger. I had dealt with this kind before, they just wanted a young female dog so they could use her to make puppies and sell them. So I did what any rational female dog would do. I bit the woman's hand so hard it bled. After that they didn't want me anymore good. I noticed a little girl walking down the aisle of dogs. Looks like another one was going to be taken home. At least the little girl seemed like they would actually take care of the thing. I shook my head at the squealing. Why must the small ones always squeal? It was annoying to say the least. Not to mention the fact that all the other dogs were barking twenty four seven and didn't know when to quit. The owner of the pound came out and opened my cage to give me some food. I could of attacked him there and made a run for it but I wasn't the biggest dog so he probably would of been able to restrain me. He closed my cage but then something miraculous happened. That man forgot to fasten the lock. I smiled in victory, pushing the door open and hopping out gleefully. Now I could get out of here. I wish i could help all the other dogs. I looked around and noticed a male dog trying to tear down an opening on his cage. Running over I gripped the thing the my teeth and pulled until the opening was large enough for him to slip through, "There." I said with a pant. Those things were stronger than they looked. -

The pretty female dog took me by surprise. I had been so focused on busting out that I hadn't noticed she had gotten out until she was helping me. I slipped through the narrow opening, obtaining a large cut on my back from the sharp metal bars. I have a lopsided grin to the she-dog and muttered a quick thank you and I was about to leave through the open door until I heard the other dogs desperately trying to escape their cages. My pity got the best of me and I began searching for ways to release the dogs. I noticed a small lever at the door to the cages that merely had to be pushed down for the door to open on each. Before I could make a move to help the poor mutts however I heard the man coming back to see what all the commotion was about. -

I smiled st the handsome dog and nodded as a way to say your welcome. I was just about to leave when all the barking and whimpers from the other dogs reached me. We couldn't just leave them here. I noticed the male dog was looking for a way to help them out. That's when he slotted a lever that would open all the cages. I heard the sound of the owner coming back and turned to him, "I got this." She said turning to the other dogs, "Once the lever is open run as fast as you can!" She ordered running over to the lever and hopping up, grabbing it with her paws and pulling it down. The cages all opened and the dogs flew out in a hurry. They all wanted freedom. The owner showed up shocked and confused. Nudging the dog I helped escape I made a run out the back exit along with the others. -

The sudden rush of dogs was enough to startle the owner and I made a run for it behind the female. The sudden rush of clean air brought joy to my heart and I wanted to stop but I kept running. Once I was far enough, I stopped and took a breath. After spotting the female I trotted over to her. While wagging my tail and with a big goofy smile on my face, I thanked her for releasing me. -

Once I reached the open air I smiled happily, glad to be free once again. I didn't stop and kept running until I knew I was far enough to where the owner wouldn't eventually catch up. Slowing down I notice the dog I saved. I wagged my tail and shook my head, "No problem. I saw you working on the cage and decided to help." I said with a toothy grin, "Any dog would've done the same."
