"Well-- wh-what if I don't want help!?" Sonic clenched the sheets on top of the bed tightly, instinctively wanting to push away the good feelings, feeling they were unnatural and intrusive. He was doing what he always did, saying whatever he could at the mere moment without thinking of the consequences.

"Then you must be a fool." It was a simple reply, yet it held so much meaning as well... Not eating to so or say something he'd regret, Shadow stood up, heading to walk out of he bedroom door.
-
Sonic merely sat there, a shadow falling over his face as the Shadow he cared for went to step out of the room. He clenched his teeth as he felt tears well in his eyes. Why am I so sensitive?! Why does what he say suddenly mean so much?! After a moment of silenc, he finally whispered something, so low there was a small chance of Shadow hearing it. "I am a fool..."
-
Shadow defied those odds, barely catching his words.
"... What?" -
Sonic's lips curled into a sneer as he glared up at Shadow, emerald eyes burning with a ferocity rarely seen. "Wouldn't you like to know."
-
His head was turned slightly, though when he turned around completely, he was surprised to see the rage in the usually calm hedgehog's eyes. The hedgehog didn't let his surprise show, and covered his emotions with his usual scowl.
"..." Shadow, having had his arms crossed, let them fall to his sides as he started to walk over to Sonic, face-- and eyes-- blank. -
Sonic watched him with a growl, eyes dark with anger, but it quickly became mixed with confusion, staring at Shadow uncomfortably as the other hedgehog grew near. Surely he hadn't heard. If he had, what could he do about it? It was not an insult to Shadow, it was an insult to himself, so if anything shadow should have been rejoicing.

(Sorry if something happened I've been messing around with the thread options to see what happens)

(Oh, ok.)
Shadow continued to walk towards him, and upon getting there, he takes Sonic's arm, pulling him to his feet. Without giving him a chance to question his actions, the dark hedgehog then pulled Sonic close to him, wrapping his arms around the other's back a bit hesitantly. He never thought he would hug anyone accept Maria, Gerald, and Rouge, though it looked as that day has finally come...
-
Sonic had no choice but to weakly lean into Shadow for support, having no other way to stay to stand up because of his weak legs. He stood there in shock, all anger fading from his eyes and body as he processed what had happened, his arms weakly coming up to hug the dark hedgehog back. "Shadow..." his voice was hoarse as he spoke.
-
Shadow didn't reply, now holding him up while hugging him. Sure, he didn't know why he was doing such a thing, especially to his rival of all Mobians, though his will to care was slowly diminishing...
-
Sonic slowly closed his tired eyes, simply accepting the fact that shadow was hugging him and enjoying it while he could.
-
Shadow continued to hold him close for a few more minutes, simply enjoying his presence, before he picked the hedgehog up, gently setting him back onto the bed. It was obvious that he was tired, so he turned away to let Sonic sleep.
-
Sonic simply allowed him to do so, bringing relief to his legs as he laid there. He looked up as the other hedgehog began to leave. "Shadow?" He called weakly.
-
"Yes?" Said hedge turned back around to face the other, a bit of concern etched onto his face.
-
"Th-Thanks..." sonic glanced away, unable to hold his gaze for long. He wasn't quite at the apologizing stage yet, but even giving thanks for something was a feat for him.
-
His lips twitched upwards a little from this, though he didn't smile, instead giving him a light nod.
"You're welcome." -
Sonic felt heat rise to his face at the look Shadow had given him. He glanced away, hiding his muzzle before Shadow could see, ears twitching back slightly.
-
Shadow was hesitant to turn away, and he soon walked out the door towards the living room to just relax and read a little.
