He was stressed out. Stressed and guilty. Sure, he had been accepted into the clan. He had been chosen by StarClan themselves to be the next medicine cats. But he saw the way his clanmates gazes never seemed to linger on him, like they didn't want to look at him. How he had seen the brief moment of fear in Blizzardkit's eyes when she first saw him. How the others would spit words like filthy and horrible when describing BloodClanners. How he knew, he just knew that the others didn't completely trust him, especially because of the little spying stunt he had done as a kit. Some would say that he was paranoid, or that he was overthinking things, but he knew it was the truth. It had to be. After all, why would they accept a flithy nasty worthless weak disgusting horrible vicious vile BloodClanner like him?

He needed to calm down. Really. But it wasn't like he had anybody to talk to. The only person he had really considered to be a potential friend, outside of his siblings, was Palemoon. Lord knew that she had enough on her plate already, what with her kit actually being her reincarnated father or... Whatever was going on there. No way was he going to risk hurting somebody. Not like that would help anyways. It would probably just make him feel more guilty, instead of relieving his stress like it had in the past. So, what was a quick and easy way to destress, without putting a burden on anyone else? Something that he knew would work...

It only took him a few minutes to have eaten several pieces of catmint. Several more were spent waiting for the effect to kick in. Before long, he was decently baked, his nerves calmed for the time being. It certainly wasn't his first time getting high. It was common practice in BloodClan to have little parties now and then when everybody would just bring some catmint and food and get high together. He hadn't partaken in many of them, but he had heard more than enough.

One problem was, though, when you get high, you get hungry. Well, not hungry necessarily, but he did have the munchies. Maybe he could grab a mouse? Mm, yeah, a mouse sounded good. Mouse. Mowse. Mooowwwsssuh. He laughed quietly to himself, tail tip flicking. What was he thinking about before? ... Hm. He didn't quite remember. One thing he did know, though, was that he was hungry. Some prey sounded really good right about then.

The medicine cat stood to his paws, slowly making his way up out of the den and into the clearing. There, just a small distance in front of him, was the fresh-kill pile. But it was so far away, and the grass beneath his paws felt so good... Maybe he would just lay down for a moment and get some food after. Yeah. That sounded good. The blue tabby Maine Coon mix laid down on the grass, gazing off into the distance.

  • Until recently FoxDancer had been very guilty, not because she had ever actually committed a crime like Audy had as a kitten (Little to her knowledge), but rather because she failed the one thing she was tasked with protecting. The exact moment she started giving up her hatred of the outsider healer? Was the same second she started forgiving herself, when they had worked together to save SnowBloom. Even if he didn't know it, the tom had given her back something that the coyotes had taken from her, he couldn't bring MinkPaw back, but he did bring FoxDancer back. These day's the old fire that burned brightly inside of her was back, even if she had seemed to turn into a slightly gentler feline. Lavender eyes pierced through anything she gazed at and she had a tongue sharp enough to slit the throats of prey, though that flame still sometimes bowed to a worrisome concern for the well being of other's when she knew there was nothing she could do.

Even if he was an outsider and she hated her own siblings for leaving to join Dark Clan and than coming back? Foxy did not hate the black tabby male, her optics gazed at him like they did everyone else, violet orbs sparking with the lively flame she held inside. Considering he had moved to a place where she treated him the same way she did everyone else? FoxDancer was quick to notice something amiss with Audenine. He looks high. The tortie was no stranger to catnip, she was no expert either, but well the herb had been how BirdPaw happened in the first place, otherwise that mangy shadow clanner would have never laid a paw on her. Luckily StoneJaw was BirdPaw's father, that wasn't something for the mind right now thought.

"Hungry?" she had a mouse dangling by it's tail between her teeth, right above his head. Of course? If he stood up without thinking, he would whack her due to the she-cats small stature, she was one of the shorter cats in the clan after-all and he was part maine coon

"audenine." thrushstar meowed gently as she approached him. normally she would have been furious with her own medicine cat for getting high off of catmint, but ever since the stoney leader birthed kits of her own she become much more understanding towards her clanmates. besides, thrushstar was no stranger to feeling the skyclanners' distrust. when mintyblossom pronounced her the new leader of skyclan after talonstar's death, few skyclanners believed the late medicine cat. she'd been very young at the time, only eleven moons, and there were stronger, more experienced warriors to lead.

"have a sip of water." she nudged a wad of soaked moss towards the former bloodclanner and sat close to him. while the leader had not trusted audenine when he first arrived in skyclan, the young tom had proven himself to be a medicine cat who was not only skilled, but loyal.

Otterpaw was a bit jealous to see her cold older sister politely offering a mouse to Audenine; but more confused than envious, really. What had happened with the tom -- why was he just lying in camp like that? Why did Otterpaw's sister and leader seem to be pitying him so? As the brown-furred molly stalked closer, there was no scent of sickness, which would have explained this care from Foxdancer and Thrushstar; instead, however, Otterpaw did pick up a lingering trace of catnip. Things suddenly became clear -- and the apprentice did wonder how the stuff tasted, what it felt like to be under its influence. It sure looked peaceful.

But Otterpaw, of course, would not make any attempt at learning such things in this moment; instead, she simply watched the three cats, anxiously shifting her paws as she tried to figure out what in StarClan she should be doing.

  • Brookpaw watched the scene, perturbed. He wasn't dumb--he knew the effects of catmint on a cat, and with the way everyone was acting, he was sure this was it. But... why wasn't anyone doing anything? Not even Thrushstar. The apprentice's claws flexed into the ground, and he looked up at Audenine.

"What kind of medicine cat are you?! Even I know catmint's the only thing that can treat greencough, and you're here in the middle of leafbare just... chomping on it! What's wrong with you!?" Brookpaw exploded, staring at Audenine with the fur along his spine bristling. The apprentice was usually fairly mild-mannered, but the fact that Audenine was a former BloodClanner was exacerbating the situation in his point of view. Brookpaw refused to believe that StarClan had chosen him; this was just proof to Brookpaw. Secondly and perhaps more importantly, Brookpaw's own father had died of greencough during an infestation before he'd been born. There was simply not enough catmint in the forest to treat all of the injured cats, and he'd passed onto StarClan. Brookpaw would walk in the Dark Forest before he'd let that happen to some other cat.

her attention was caught by brookpaw's burst of energy. looking up from her vole, cherrypaw watched as thrushstar and foxdancer both accompanied the new medicine cat. audy looked distant, like he was present but his conscious was somewhere else. upon closer examination, brookpaw looked like he was having a fox in a fit. cherrypaw knew that the tabby was pretty mild, not someone you'd expect to explode like that.

she looked around again to see other reactions, her gaze resting on otterpaw finally. cherrypaw pushed her vole away and scooted on over to the solid chocolate, then leaned over so she could whisper, "is audy like... ok? is he sleep deprived or something? why is brookpaw talking about catmint so loudly?"

unlike most apprentices, the girl didn't know much about herbs. most people knew that cobwebs stopped bleeding, and goldenrod helped wounds if chewed. cherry's idea of medicine was, 'wrap that wound up in cobwebs, and then if they're screaming in pain, give them a seed off the ground or a stick'... at least cherrypaw was right about wrapping cobwebs around wounds.

Hours had passed. Well, it seemed like hours. Hours, minutes, seconds, who knew? He certainly didn't. How important was the concept of time? Was it correct? Did time pass differently for creatures with shorter lives? If so, how did anybody know what concept of time was the right one? Did they go by the rise and fall of the sun, or something else? Was any of this line of thought even interesting or was he simply too out of it to care?

It didn't matter, as the greatest sight he ever seen in his life was suddenly there in front of him, dangling just inches away from his head. There, held by a clanmate - Foxdancer, he noticed after a moment - was an absolutely delicious looking piece of prey. "Yeah," he spoke in response, giving a brief nod despite not making an effort to grab it himself. If she really wanted to give it to him, she could just drop it on the grass and he would dig in.

Then, after another moment, a soaking wad of moss was shoved towards him. He looked up to Thrushstar with a dazed look, squinting in the sunlight in order to make out who she was. Ah, yes, Thrushstar was nice. SHe had let him stay. She had let him become the medicine cat. Okay. Yeah, he would drink some water. He was pretty thirsty, after all. He bent down, taking several laps from the water. Everybody sure was being nice, weren't they? Hah, he could barely even remember why he thought they hated him in the first place. What a silly thought.

It wasn't long before that train of thought was ruined, though. Soon enough, an apprentice had come over and started yelling his disapproval. The tom didn't quite remember the younger boy's name, but he was sure it would come to him eventually. He sounded pretty angry, though. Perhaps he should say something? "Uh... Listen, man, I didn't even choose this path. I'm cool with it though, it's nice. 'salright about the catmint, we got tons more in the den there. I didn't eat that much. No one's even sick yet anyways an' we're surrounded by other clans who also have catmint growing. Worst comes to worst I can ask them for some, or prob'ly sneak back into the city and steal some from a twoleg. If the others haven't eaten it all by now. Y'know some of the twolegs grow catmint in their gardens? Do y'think it works on them?"

A lazy glance was given over to the next molly who approached. Ah, Cherrypaw. Yeah, she was nice too. He liked her. Were they friends? Maybe not. They should be, though. Maybe she would wanna hang out with him sometime and eat some catnip? He'd have to ask. Maybe it would be better to do so in Newleaf, though, to get Brookpaw off of his back. He couldn't quite hear what she was saying, but he gave a nod in greeting anyways.

  • Audy was officially an idiot but he was an idiot who had worked very hard to treat her wounds from the coyotes until they had healed completely. The first time he tried to help her? She had sat at the top of a tree length pile of rocks and told him he had to get to her first. Understandably she had softened considerably since than towards him, considering he had not just thrown in the towel. Testing someone before she let herself trust them? Was something FoxDancer was prone to doing, heck most of the dislike she displayed towards her own sisters was a byproduct of her need to force them to endure so she could prove to herself that they would not betray her again. Sure it was selfish and she was aware of it, she could stop behaving like that, but it was a good insurance policy if someone had to work for your trust they were much less likely to break it later on down the road, mostly because they came under the impression you'd not give it away a second time.

The mouse hit the ground in front of Audy's mouth, the tortie huffing at him in amusement, it was actually funny to see him high, most people here were concerned or furious, and she was just pleasantly amused. "I though you looked a little bit high." she moved her paw forward and placed it on his forehead to basically boop him with her paw as she tilted her head and chuckled slightly. Honestly this was entertainment for her, she had no reason to believe he'd eaten their whole supply or anything so it should be fine. However she could do without his words of not choosing to be a medic and it simply being alright. If Star Clan picked you for something it was an honor and they had directly selected the black tabby male for the position! Why couldn't he hold pride in it? She knew that even as far down the warrior path she was if Star Clan suddenly called on her to do something else she would be honored and delighted to heed their word, it would be her path and she'd willingly run down it. Of course he had been born outside the worshiping clans.

"I hope you wouldn't plan on sneaking into the city all alone, I don't think Blood Clan would respect the fact your a Medicine Cat if they found you around there. Also maybe it does work on them, I mean why else do they act so strange all the time." she was entertaining his high talk and that could be very good or extremely bad, but she found the conversation stimulating. FoxDancer rolled her eyes slightly. "Hey Audy, why don't we get you up and get you back to your den? I'll sit with you until you sober up." ThrushStar had more important things to do than baby sit their high medicine cat. However without debate, someone else had to help Audy back to the den, FoxDancer was too small for maine coon mass to be supported on her, she was a lithe runner and climber, she couldn't hold her own against the weight of a pheasant much less another nearly full grown cat, she would snap.
