Character Name: Dreamshade
Character Age: 18 moons
Gender: Female
Alliance: Shadowclan
Rank: Warrior/Queen
Appearance:
Dreamshade is a short-haired black calico with light golden eyes. There seems to be an almost perfect split that goes up half of her face; the left side of this 'split' is black, while the right side is a light orange. A white marking rests on her chest, in the shape of a disfigured, upside-down hourglass. Her front two legs are black, with paws the same color orange as that on the right side of her face. Her back legs, however, are orange, white white socks. Her eyes, the color of light, unrefined topaz, remain guarded, even to those she trusts. Her body is slim and toned, her fur sleek and clean. Her ears are a bit large compared to the size of her head, however, a fact that only she notices, yet obsesses over constantly.
Personality: Often keeping silent, Dreamshade isn't the type of cat that runs her mouth and bothers others with her constant talking. She tends to isolate herself, straying towards the edge of the crowd and staying there, never joining the other cats, but tolerating them during the brief periods of time in which they join her. Unusually solemn for her age, she was serious even as a kit, always asking deep, philosophical questions while her litter-mates chased butterflies or tumbled through the clearing as they play-fought. She's not exactly what you'd call playful, choosing to sit back and study her surroundings, taking everything in while the others play. She's very sensitive, although you wouldn't know it, as she keeps her emotions very well hidden, so that even the cats who know her best can't tell what she's feeling. She never questions the Warrior Code, never gets into trouble of any sort, and always does as she is told without questioning or complaining. Despite all her attempts to fade into the background, she knows that her past will eventually catch up to her, and that the whole clan may end up having to get involved.
---Likes: The way the moon's reflection in water looks, the sound of crickets at night, taking walks through the forest at night
--- Dislikes: Her large ears, small, tight spaces, criticisms and insults
---Strengths: Wisdom, battle strategy, obedience, speed
---Weaknesses: Strength, shyness, panic attacks
History (8 or more sentences): Out of her and her brother, their mother had always loved Dreamshade most. She made it quite apparent in the way that she treated them, spoke to them, and even in how she fed them. While all the attention made Dreamshade uncomfortable, her brother, her brother, Darkfall, longed for it. Time after time, moon after moon, he did everything that he could to impress their mother, even becoming named a warrior long before Dreamshade. But their mother would simply smile and nod at his efforts to please her, and then turn to dote on Dreamshade.
Because of this, Darkfall grew to be angry and sullen. Oddly enough, he never blamed their mother for her twisted favoritism; no, he blamed Dreamshade, telling himself over and over that she was intentionally stealing their mother's affections. He began plotting against Dreamshade, wanting to make her screw up, so that their mother would love him instead. He never got the chance to win his mother's approval, though.
When he and Dreamshade were both twelve moons old, Dreamshade caught a severe case of greencough, and everyone thought that she was going to die. Their mother was determined to be with Dreamshade every hour that she could possibly spare, despite the warnings of the medicine cat to keep her distance. Within a few days, their mother had fallen ill. Being older and weaker, while Dreamshade fully recovered, their mother died.
Now, Darkfall had even more to blame on Dreamshade. With the death of his mother heavy in his heart, he made an attempt on Dreamshade's life. Luckily, she lived, but Darkfall vanished, leaving behind a promise that he would be back, and would succeed in avenging their mother's death and killing Dreamshade once and for all.
Dreamshade never told anyone about what Darkfall had done. Instead, she simply chose to tell her clan that he had left on a quest from Starclan, and may or may not be back. For a moon or so, the whole clan anxiously awaited his arrival. But soon, they gave up, assuming him dead. Now, the memory of Darkfall has faded quite a bit, from every mind but Dreamshade's. She lies in constant fear, waiting for him to come back and make good his promise to kill her.
