  • Briarpaw watched his movement closely, and when Stonepaw tenced before running, he darted out of the way quickly, and leaped onto his back. I wont be taken by surprise! He sunk his fangs into the appretice's scruff so he could get a grip, and took them out when he attempted to turn the apprentice onto his side.

Foxthistle stood up and yelled, "Stonepaw!" The tom watched his apprentice's moves, growling. Briarpaw could notice him running! Why couldn't he have leaped up straight into the air, surprise him by not attacking, then attack?

  • Stonepaw allowed the other apprentice to carry him off his paws, skidding in the dust, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike back. He ignored his mentor's irritated yowling, falling limp under Briarpaw's grip.

  • Briarpaw leaped up, and backward ready for when the apprentice would jump. He had remembered his father teaching hi this move, so he knew very well what would happen. While Stonepaw was limp, Briarpaw leaped into a patch of dirty water quietly, hiding his scent, and started to crawl up a side of the cliff. He knew how to climb very well, and how to hold on, so here he would have an advantage if Stonepaw didn't climb.

  • Stonepaw could barely suppress his chuckle; Briarpaw was falling further and further into the trap he had set out. The large grey tom wasn't very comfortable with climbing, which Briarpaw would probably be aware of. He merely stood at the base of the cliff, his head tilted slightly, tail flicking from side to side. After a few heartbeats he turned around, and padded back into the center of the training ground, not looking back.

  • Briarpaw watched Stonepaw, then climbed down the cliff and started his was toward the tom. He leaped up into the air and attempted to land on his back.

  • The grey tom had his ears pricked, and was listening intently for the sound of Briarpaw's advance. He heard the scrape of the other tom's paws on the ground as he neared, and timed his next move as best he could, waiting until Briarpaw was in reach before he attacked.. Stonepaw lurched forward, heaving all his weight onto his shoulders and forepaws and lashed out with both hind legs, kicking up high into the air. He was aiming to catch Briarpaw in the stomach as he landed.

  • Briarpaw backed away and ran over to his mentor to hide under her legs. "Its not fair! He's older than me!" The apprentice whispered.

Foxthistle spat at the apprentice, and growled as Briarpaw hid. He looked over at Stonepaw. "You fought well, maybe you should go back to camp and brag about how you made an apprentice cower at his mentor's feet."

Rosethorn sat at the camp entrance. She was bored, but not very cold, because her long fur helped protect her.

  • Stonepaw flattened his ears in shame, glancing at his paws. "S-Sorry, Briarpaw," he mumbled, scraping at the ground. He hated how his mentor had made it sound; he didn't exactly want Briarpaw to be scared of him. The large grey tom hunched his shoulders and turned to trudge away.

Rivermist blinked in surprise as Briarpaw hid beneath her, and gently pressed her muzzle to his ear. "He wouldn't hurt you, Stonepaw's scared of his own shadow thanks to Foxthistle constantly barking at him," she soothed, rasping her tongue over the top of his head. "We'll practice more, and one day you'll be able to beat him, don't worry."

Robinpaw picked up her catch and padded after Brindlepelt, cringing at how messy her technique had been. Hopefully Brindlepelt hadn't seen her terrible leap.

  • Brindlepelt took her apprentice back to camp, and placed her prey into the pile.

Briarpaw nodded, standing up and shaking his pelt. Briarpaw had always wanted to be a warrior, but now he thought he wasn't cut out for it and was meant to be a medicine cat.

Foxthislte twitched his ear. "Stonepaw, you can stay here with them and practice more, I have to go. " He left his apprentice in the training area, and went back into camp to look for Fleckstar.

  • RiverShade glanced seeing RodeThorn. The large black tom padded over and waved his tail. "How are you RoseThorn?" Came his rough yet warm voice. His cloudy looking eyes brightening once he sat next to the she cat.

  • Robinpaw dropped her mouse on the pile, wincing visibly as she noticed how small her catch was compared to some of the other, much larger pieces of prey brought back by her Clanmates. Usually she was much better at hunting than that.

Stonepaw nodded, halting where he stood and turning back to Rivermist and Briarpaw. He refused to look either of them in the eye, instead focusing on the ground by his forepaws.

Rivermist offered Stonepaw a sympathetic look and padded into the center of the training ground. "Alright," she began, "Stonepaw, you demonstrated a very well-executed hind kick during the practice fight. Briarpaw, I don't believe we've covered that yet, so I'd like you to try it out on Stonepaw. If you don't remember how Stonepaw did it, just ask him to show you."

  • fleckstar walked back into the camp her eyes on her deputy and their apprentices as they placed their share into the pile. the leader had managed to catch a white rabbit after a few tries of sneaking up and then running after it. gently she set the rodent in the pile before making her way down the tunnel she told foxthistle and rivermist to go train their apprentices. the tortie set at the entrance watching the four cats a confused look in her one green eye. "how is training going along you two?" she asked with a faint smile directing her attention to the apprentices.

The pale grey warrior flicked her tail, only slightly mourning the loss of patrols already possibly having been sent back out. She could go back to hunting solo, but the thought didn't honestly appeal to her. So instead she remained in camp, her pale green gaze scanning the chilly morning sky.

Amberglare, however, was practically bouncing around like a kit full of energy. She hadn't an apprentice to train, nor was she particularly assigned to do anything as of yet. And so, the white-furred cat tried furiously to contain herself, to to calm. But she could hardly manage it, and in the end decided to leave on her own, to hunt or do whatever else she could while alone.
  • Rivermist glanced up in surprise. She dipped her head respectfully to Fleckstar, twitching the tip of her thick grey tail. "Good morning, Fleckstar," she greeted, "Briarpaw and Stonepaw were just practicing the hind kick; Stonepaw demonstrated a very good one during their little practice bout."

  • "I'd like to see it again, please Stonepaw." He meowed to the older apprentice, then dipped his head to the leader. "Where did Foxthistle go?" He asked as he raised his head. He then saw the tom in the camp, watching Flackstar, and seemed to be waiting for her.

Rosethorn nodded to Rivershade. "Good morning, Rivershade. "I'm well, how are you?" The molly asked, shaking her long black pelt.

Brindlepelt placed her squirrel and crow into the pile. "Robinpaw, eat something. You've done well." She picked up a mouse from the pile and went to the training area to watch the apprentices.

  • fleckstar nodded her head as she walked into the cave, her eye moving to the mentors. "that is very good, great job stonepaw," the leader praised to the grey apprentice. her paws stopped when she was besides rivermist, taking a seat next to her "I hope you don't mind if I stay to watch," she told the group as her tail wrapped over her paws. for today she was giving her apprentice the morning and afternoon off but by night she'd take him her to train for awhile.

  • Robinpaw nodded. "Okay, Brindlepelt," she agreed, bending down to pick something from the freshkill pile. She didn't really want to take any more than she had contributed, so she selected her own small mouse and took it to her usual spot outside the apprentices' den.

"O-Okay, Briarpaw," Stonepaw stammered, blinking rapidly as he blanched under the praise of his leader. With a quick glance at Rivermist and Fleckstar, he padded into the center of the training ground and took a deep breath, lurching forward on his forelegs. He put all his weight on his shoulders, planting them far enough apart that they could sustain his rear half, and kicked out with his hind legs as high as he could get them without falling forward. As soon as his hind paws were back on the ground, he turned around and nodded to Briarpaw.

Rivermist offered Stonepaw a small smile of encouragement. "Well done!" She praised the heavy-set tom, whisking her tail across the smooth cave floor. "And not at all, Fleckstar," she insisted, dipping her head to her leader. Stonepaw seemed to be shaping up nicely; with any luck he would be made a warrior before long. She took a seat, curling her tail around her paws, and indicated with an inclination of her head for Briarpaw to attempt the move. Although it might not look so hard, the hind kick was considered an advanced move, as it took great strength and balance to apply all your weight to your forelegs like that - something that could only be built up over time. She was curious to see how Briarpaw would do.

  • Faywhisker sat outside of her den, fluffy tail wrapped around her small paws. Her green eyes gazed around the camp, when the patrols came back she would go and get some prey. She might also go check in the kits and make sure they were staying warm and with their mothers.

  • Briarpaw watched his move carefully, soon going out to try it on his own. He got the first part right, but when he kicked out, He fell over onto his paw. It stung from the pressure. He sat up, gave it a few rapid licks, and limped back to the side. He looked up at his mentor, then gave it a few more licks. When Brindlepelt came in to watch, he sat up. With the deputy, his mentor, and the leader watching him when he practiced, he felt he was going to be nervous.

Foxthislte then came in and took a seat nect to Fleckstar, watching Stonepaw. He stepped out into the area, ready to teach Stonepaw a new move. "This is a battle move. Watch me carefully." The tom then turned around, staring at the cave wall. He pretended a cat was in his way. He ran straight for the wall, leaped onto it, and pushed off, then twisted himself in the air so he would land steadily and get a grip on the cat he was attacking. Before landing, he stretched out his claws, and landed swiftly on his hind legs. It did give a bit of pain, but it was something any cat could get use to. After landing on his back legs, he leaped up again and landed on his four paws. 'Now you try it, Stonepaw."
