  • His words still sat heavy in her chest, looking away from the man "fine" she responded simply. Starting to walk through the gloom. Why was she even doing this. Frowning weakly, somehow she knew she had no home to go back to now. Only in the company of someone who hated her. Sighing heavily with a shake of her head. "Enna" she mumbled in exchange her name for his. Placing up her hand and looking uneasy, sharp senses catching just the most subtle distruptions in the air. "There are reasons we never use these tunnels.. but we had no choice.." she whispered carefully.

  • He simply nodded and followed her. Michael wondered why she was doing all this to help him. What did she care if he died? He was tempted to ask, but was disturbed by a deep gut feeling. While his senses were no where near as acute as hers, he could still tell that something was off. His blue eyes darted around their surroundings wearily, ready to react at a split moment's notice. "And those reasons are...?" he whispered in reply, voice barely audible as if he was afraid of awaking something.

  • Lowering herself down and ducking against the wall as she urged the man to do the same. Pressing a single finger to get plum lips as a giant rat looking creature bumbled past "various.." she whispered "there's mutated beasts, areas that are flooded. Tunnels that collapse. Areas with exposed live electricity" she explained in her usual soft and unearthly tone. Urging him forward, careful steps testing the floor with each step, placing herself before the human. Trying to ignore all the questions that buzzed around in her head as to why she was even doing all this. Gasping sharply as the ground gave out under the two. Plunging them into pitch black murky ice cold water. As Enna thrashed desperately to the surface. Body temperature swiftly dropping and injured arm failing her as she looked around desperately for the human that she had been in the company of, fighting to keep her head above water, energy swiftly sapping away. "Michael??" She managed to cough out, still trying to catch sight of him.

  • Michael would gasp as his head broke the surface of the water. Immediately, he frantically looked around. "Enna!!" He shouted, before catching sight of her. Quickly, he swam over to her. Michael put her injured arm around his shoulders and began swimming the to safety. Or at least, out of immediate danger. He made his way to a section of the concrete floor that seemed solid, gasping as he hoisted up first Enna and then himself. For a moment he simply lied there, shuddering noticeably from the freezing cold water.

  • It had all happened so fast, her people, there was a reason why they lived in the desert. Their bodies could not withstand cold temperatures and would swiftly shutdown. She had felt an arm wrap around her, heaving her out of the water as she curled into a pitiful ball. Pressing into the man's side, teeth chattering and eye lids heavy as she trembled helplessly. Managing to raise her hands up and close her eyes. Drawing on her power as she focused on their soaked clothes, forcing herself to draw the water from every fibre, gathering it into a suspended blob of water that collapsed into itself nearby, splashing to the floor. Now they were dry at the least as Enna hugged herself. Hoping her body temperature would rise again soon. Not caring that she had revealed her rare skill of basic elemental manipulation to the man. "A-are you alright. You saved me?" She managed.

  • "C-Cold as hell, but still breathing," Michael said, managing a shaky grin as he looked over at her. While amazed by her ability to manipulate the water, he decided it was best not to ask questions. But what other secret abilities did she have? For a moment, Michael realized the value in her. If he knew what she could do, he knew what other Khartrenai could do. However, he had other things to worry about at the moment, such as making sure both of them were alive. "Are you alright? I've never seen a Khartrenai do well in the cold," He said, seeming genuinely concerned.

  • Enna huddled up closer to the male, simply because he was warm, her lips losing their rosy colour and looking much more of a blue tint now. She manages a weak smile and nod. "I'll get there" she murmured. Ashamed of herself for acting so weak in front of a human. She knew humans also struggled with the cold as she wrapped her now dry cloak tighter around the man. Slowly she seemed to gain colour in her lips once again as she got to her feet "come on, we must keep moving" she murmured gently. Helping the man to his feet. As they continued to creep forward. Strangely enough electricity and water were severe weaknesses of her kind. So one may wonder why it was set here. That was simple. It wasn't her kind who had done it had been some nut job human who had done this and taken the secret to his grave as a way to stop Enna's people continuing to use these passageways to get to the humans. Not that Enna told this to her male companion.

  • Michael seemed to flinch ever so slightly as she huddled up to him, but didn't push her away. He had never realized just how fragile Khartrenai were. It was a bit of a shock to see Enna in such a vulnerable state. He allowed her to slowly recover until she was ready to move on. With her help, he stood and continued the nerve-wracking walk. He fully realized that every step help the possibility of being his last.

  • Enna gently pushed the male down into a small crevice of the wall that had crumbled away. Body blocking him from being seen as a large rat like creature like they had seen earlier made an appearance as she smiled lightly. Drawing a pistol in one hand and her energy sword in the ther as she locked herself into combat with the creature that swiped at her with razor claws, fangs dripping and oozing with saliva. Sheer muscle rippled under its scraggly fur. But Enna was quick to evade the clumsy lumbering creature, even in the tight tunnel. Slashing ribbons through it as it squealed. Tumbling to be stood in front of the creature as she stared at it, firing her gun to lodge a bullet of energy in between its eyes. Swiftly killing and putting the creature out of its misery "we need to go. Before its friends come after hearing it's distress call" she spoke in a cold tone, despite this she crouched down. Brushing its eyes closed carefully. Many of her people would have toyed with it or left it to suffer.

  • Michael watched her handle the creature. While she certainly seemed just as capable as the rest of her people, he noticed that she wasn't as cruel. Maybe that was why she hadn't left him for dead. Whatever the reason for her choice was, Michael figured that it didn't matter now. All that mattered was that they had to get to safety as soon as possible. "Cold and compassionate, ain'tcha...?" He muttered with a hint of amusement as they fled from the creature's corpse.

  • "Perhaps" she murmured very softly, from frowning in dismay at the crumbled passage ahead of them. "That was your exit" she sighed heavily "I'll take you through the outer ring of the city until I know you've gotten back to your people. And then, that is it" she grumbled. Guiding him down another passage and scaling another ladder, still favouring her arm as they reached the water light of day break. Standing in nothing but ruins of civilisation. Clearly Enna was edge, they were in no man's territory but Enna would obviously be a KOS here should they come across their people. "Wait here" she murmured very softly as she began to scale a crumbling building. Soon vanishing, alongside the man appeared to be a functioning pay phone should he wish to tip off his men about what information he had gained.
