• "I'm wrong? Respectful, much? And no, you're wrong - not everyone hated you. I didn't flat out hate you. I'm uncertain about what opinion to form on you, similar to the rest of the cats in this Clan. Of course I remember, I don't suffer from memory loss of any sort. But my birth broke the code, and the Clan hates me enough already. You probably dislike me, at least. You were fighting against me at the raid, I know you were. You were defending her."He was referring to Raggedstar. Yes, it was true that Snakehiss had been defending the leader against Butterflysong, and the two toms had never actually fought anytime throughout the raid, but Thornfang was still making a similar point. He had believed in the black tom, trusted him almost, but Thornfang knew that Snakehiss would choose Raggedstar over him from now on.

Snakehiss flicked an ear. So, he was being disrespectful. It was a statement. Would he rather have me agree? He thought before saying, "If I stood with you then you would've gotten killed." He would've gotten killed as well. Raggedstar had her nine lives, not him. She could easily outlive him.

  • "Maybe that's true. What do you honestly think about all that has happened?"For some reason, Snakehiss was one of the cats in the Clan he didn't quite understand. He didn't know what the black tom's motives were, or exactly who or what he stood for. He had been exiled before, and he had trained in the Dark Forest, pressured into taking a life from Daisystar. That really didn't tell Thornfang much unless he chose to look deeper, and Thornfang being a cat who immediately made first judgements, he really wanted to do that before forming an opinion on this tom.
