    [b]**WARNING THIS SCROLLS**

Mia and your character have been best friends since kindergarten. They remained close, and at one point were on the brink of a serious relationship, except Mia's dad died in her freshman year of college and she pulled away from everyone. Once she got through that, your character was still there, though they never rekindled the spark. Eventually, their friendship dwindled down to the point where they only ever occasionally spoke, then nothing at all. Mia missed him, but he had become a big successful, rich (insert whatever you want to here) and she was always afraid to reach out to him. Now Mia's a very well known professional and excellent photographer. At work one day, Mia finds your character there in her office -- wanting to hire her to take photos of his wedding/vacation. Mia - glad to get an opportunity to see her friend again - takes the job. He explains the wedding is actually a three week vacation, where his family, his fiance's family, and guests all go out to an island to party, have fun, etc, and it's all paid by him since he's filthy rich (as is his fiance's family & his own family). So she goes along with to take pictures and all the while Mia and your character rekindle their friendship -- things only get more complicated when she starts to fall for him too, and maybe your character for her as well. But with the wedding fast approaching, will your character choose his best friend someone he's always loved, or the new flame in his life?

notes - ok so weirdly this plot came to me in a dream i dreamed something along the lines of this but it was wack since it was a dream. anyways i am obsessed with it and wanted to rp it out.
sooo here are some requirments -- please be semi-active (i know the semester is ending for a lot of people and this next week i can't promise to be active so it's ok if not) but after exams are over & you're active that's great.
second PLEASE be adv-to semi adv. i wanna post paragraphs plurarl, not one paragraph (unless low muse). so yeah, no rpers with one liners
i'd prefer if you had a fancy post but it's not 100% necessary
lastly - i accept most faceclaims but like pls no emo/kpop people i just can't work with those.
if you have any questions go on and ask me :) we can probably start either when they reunite or just skip to the island

The entire drive over, Tanner's hands wouldn't stop shaking. No matter how hard he gripped the wheel, no matter how many other things he focused on, no matter how heavy the traffic was - Tanner could not get his hands to stop shaking. He shouldn't be acting this way; he rationalized it in his mind. He's been best friends with Amelia since kindergarten. They'd grown up making spaceships with playdough, scraping their knees during recess, and eating those celery and peanut butter snacks that Tanner hated but Amelia loved.

They'd gone through the smelly years of elementary, the awkward years of middle school, and the stressful years of high school. Tanner had stuck by Amelia's side, and she had stuck by his. They had been attached at the hip for many, many years; withstood the taunting questions about love, helped each other study for their finals, and bet to see who could drink the most energy drinks.

So why were his hands shaking?

They had drifted apart, as college tore them away to different schools. Tanner had gone after the arts of surgery, while Amelia had sought the art of photography. Tanner couldn't deny his best friend had always had an eye for seeing the world through different eyes. She had always had a gift for it. Tanner blinked away his thoughts at the sound of his GPS directing him to the parking lot of Amelia's office. He took a right turn onto the drive, running a hand through his dark hair nervously.

Finding a parking spot, Tanner turned off his vehicle and looked down at his hands. He forced them to still, if only for a moment. As a brain surgeon, Tanner's hands were his most prized possession. They were the ultimate tool for his good fortune, the only way he could continue his job. He had to control them. Tanner fiddled with the expensive watch on his wrist to gather his thoughts for another moment. The purpose behind his meeting was rather simple; he was looking for someone to photograph the memories he would have with his future wife and their families.

Amelia had been the first one to come to his mind, and Callie had been excited about the thought. Knowing all there was to know about painting, dancing, photography, and other assorted arts, Tanner's fiance had already heard of Mia's rise to fame. And Tanner, only wanting the best for his future wife, had immediately gone to seek out his childhood friend.

With a few questions and fingers pointing in the proper direction, Tanner found himself in the midst of Amelia's office. He couldn't help but think that her office looked exactly how he imagined an office of hers to look. The surgeon ran his fingers over her desk, glancing at her work as he did so. And, just in that moment, the door opened.

[its all good it's not technically my fancy post hehe. && i gave up on studying]

Mia had never expected her photography to blow up the way it did. Taking pictures had been a mere hobby as a child. It was high school where things really took off - and she saw that she could make a career out of it if she really wanted to. Despite her mothers complains that she would never anount to anything if she went down that path, Mia attended an art school. She wasn't so bad a sketch artist either, but photography was her passion. Catching rare moments of beauty, or people, or places - spontaneous happenings...it was enthralling.

Of course, she struggled in college, getting internships and trying to get her work out there in the professional field. It was a photo of a young couple at their wedding at Central Park in NYC that blew up her career. Because that's when a famous actress hired her to shoot her wedding. After that the jobs started rolling in , and Mia made a business out of it. She gathered a whole team of other photographers, lighting specialists, designers, and all that to help set her up. Mia even got to travel often, mostly around Europe and the United States. She adored her job and wouldn't do anything to change it.

However, her life was lacking a significant other. Not that Mia complained about not having anyone - she just wished she had someone close like that in her life. So...the young woman decided to try online dating. It was easier since she barely got out much with her work and all, and she only ever had to go on dates. There weren't commitments or real feelings developed, she was just having a good time. There was only ever once in her life where she thought she'd be with someone she cared a lot about. That had been Tanner. However, after her dad died she lost herself and then college brought them even farther apart. Mia often found herself comparing her current best friend, well her other best friend from high school, and partner in the business - to that past friendship.

Mia had just been returning to her studio from a quick lunch date with one of her online matches when her business partner / best friend (mentioned before), Brenda, poked her head out of her office. "Hey you've got a client waiting for you in your office, Mi," the girl stated, an odd smile on her face. Mia gave her a sigh and headed towards the closed door, opening it up. "Brenda, you know I don't like having clients in my office, I have unfinished personal wor-" she froze, bag sliding off her shoulder and onto the floor with a thump. "Oh my god. Tanner?" she practically gasped, Brenda chuckling in the background. Mia closed the door behind her on the woman and stared over at her old best friend - a mixture of feelings washing over her. Nostalgia being the biggest. "What are you doing here? God it's been so long....how are you? Sit please," she motioned to the cushioned arm chair as she picked up her bag and went over to clear some things off her desk.

Photographs were all over her office walls, some her work, others her idols - the whole study had artwork everywhere. Her desk though, was ever the messiest. She kept glancing up at him as she hurried to make things more presentable, still shocked at seeing him here. So many thoughts, feelings, and questions of all things were flying through her head. She wasn't sure how to react. Did she hug him? Why was he here? How long had it been? He looked good, older, clean cut - but he was still Tanner..

Tanner could not deny that the death of Mia's father had changed her. Although they hadn't been seeing each other as much as in high school, when Mr. Ashryver passed away, their communications dwindled to a halt. Tanner knew Amelia hadn't been taking it well; despite not talking to her, he kept good tabs with Mrs. Ashryver. She'd always been fond of him, and he considered her his second mother.

Other than her explosion in the photography industry, Tanner knew little about the current Mia. He couldn't deny his curiosity, however (he also couldn't deny the small flame of - dare he call it - love that kept a slow fire in his heart), and it overjoyed him when Callie had agreed for her to photograph their three-week-long wedding.

Tanner turned toward the door as it was swung open, Mia's familiar voice accusing Brenda of not knowing her own job. A smile immediately flew to his smooth lips. She'd always had that fire in her younger years, and it made him happy knowing she still had it. Her surprise sent another wild grin across his mouth. He'd always loved surprising her.

A distant memory crossed his mind. When they were in middle school, Tanner had let himself into Mia's house before she got back from school. He'd crawled under her bed and waited until she'd gotten home. Then, when she was sitting on her bed, he'd quickly snaked out from under the bed and grabbed her feet. The scream of terror that left her mouth made Tanner laugh even to this day.

"Double A," he greeted. Tanner hadn't used that nickname since their freshman year of high school. It'd quickly become a laughable nickname, considering the inappropriate high-schoolers and their knowledge of bras. "You seem like you're living the life, in this nice office." Tanner smiled again, setting his dark denim rear into the chair she gestured toward.

Tanner felt his fingers shake for another second and forced them to still. "I'm actually here to ask you for a big favor." He ran a hand through his dark hair. "My fiance and I are planning a three-week long vacation to Hawaii, with our wedding centered right in the midst of the trip." He felt his voice hesitant on the word 'wedding.' Once, not too long ago, he'd almost considered what a wedding with Mia might have been like.

Tanner glanced at his expensive watch (a watch Callie gave to him for his birthday one year) and forced his mind back to his wonderful fiance. Mia probably had a boyfriend of her own, especially with how beautiful and talented she'd become. "We need a photographer."

Mia had no idea why she was even fumbling to clean up her mess of a desk when there just was no organizing it anyways. So she gave up and once he plopped into the chair, she wandered around to go ahead and lean against her desk, crossing her arms in front of her. She felt slightly awkward, and a little nervous to see him there, which was evident in her tapping her fingers on her arm absentmindedly. Tanner did earn a smile from her when he used her old nickname, and she even snorted as she tucked a strand of her short hair behind her ear. She remembered hating when he used that, and other people were around to hear. [b]"Boy do I regret not coming up with an embarrassing nickname for you,

was her reply. Mia glanced around her office has he complimented it. "I'm living the dream, literally. I honestly never thought this would happen," a happy sigh escaped her.

As she looked at him again, though, guilt began to wash over her- seeing his smile, the way he held himself. She had shut him out all those yeas ago, for being selfish in her grief, and then never made an effort to fix things or reach out to him. And Mia didn't know how to react at the moment, how to treat him. So, she sat there as he spoke, explained his business for coming to visit her in her office. Although Mia had gained some fame, it was nice to know he knew she was here, and fame to stop by.

Learning the reason for it all though, she couldn't help but feel disappointment, and tried her best to hide it. It wasn't that he was getting married - it was that he was here for her services, to hire her,and not as an 'i was in the neighborhood and wanted to see you after all this time' kind of deal. What a selfish thing to think. Be happy for him, she scolded herself mentally. "Oh wow. Three weeks in Hawaii? She must be really special," Mia's tone was light, and her head tilted slightly as she smiled. A nod came from her as he confirmed that he needed a photographer.

"Well, you've come to the right place," Mia pushed herself off the desk she was leaning on and made her way over to a book case one one of the walls, which was filled with photography books, leisure reading for herself when she grew bored, and then albums and albums of her example photos - and different photo packages. She pulled out one for weddings and returned to him, handing it over. "A favor usually indicates being free," Mia smirked a bit. "I do need to make a living, so, you can at least have the friends and family discount," after all, he had been family.

"I can't believe you're getting married, though. Are we really at that age?" A chuckle escaped her. "How long have you known her? And when is the date? I'm gonna have to squeeze your lucky butt into my schedule," she moved to sit on the edge of the arm chair while he looked over the book he gave her. Mia wondered briefly if she hadn't been a photographer, would he have contacted her? This was the first time she had heard about a wedding - and despite them not having been in contact much, they still had been childhood friends, and this was big news.

Tanner noted the way her face fell slightly when he mentioned his business here. He knew Mia better than anyone else in the world, aside from her family. He always knew those little ticks that betrayed her emotions, as much as she tried to hide him. In terms of Mia's poker face, Tanner could read it like an open book. He immediately felt bad, regretting cutting right to the chance rather than catching up first. It had always been a fault of his - get to the main point before anything else.

He had to admit, his heart had been crushed when she'd drawn away from him. They'd been on the brim of something more than friends. It was going to be something new and exciting and daring and he was completely ready for it. Alongside Mia's family, Tanner grieved for her father's death. Both for the man he had been, but also for the life he knew he would never get. He knew his best friend would form barriers around herself, but he'd never expected them to be so high he couldn't climb over them.

Despite her disappointment, Mia braves on. Tanner is reminded, yet again, how incredibly sweet his once-best friend was. His mind jumped to an image of Callie in his mind when Mia said she must be special. The daughter to a high-end lawyer, Callie Peterson was everything any man could ever want. Sparkling blue eyes, fiery red hair, a sprinkle of elegant freckles across her nose, and a laugh that could make the stars happy.

The only thing was, she wasn't Amelia.

"Callie certainly is something special." He forced a small, knowing smile onto his lips (hoping to distract both Mia and himself from the minor expression that crossed his face). Tanner's eyes followed the photographer as she grabbed the book off her shelf and handed it to him. He opened it slowly, carefully turning the pages as if he were examining the fine details of a brain. His coffee brown eyes glanced up as she explained the prices.

"Oh of course. I wasn't planning on putting you out of business." He flipped the pages carefully, admiring the shots taken alongside the pricing. "The trip would all be paid for, and we would also pay whatever price you'd give us." Tanner glanced up to look at Mia once again. "Mi, these pictures are gorgeous! You've really come far from photographing your dog in the backyard with the disposable camera." He laughed at the memories and set the book aside, intent on mending that disappointment from before.

Mia directed the conversation toward Callie before he could get a word in edgewise. He followed the river nonetheless. "As awful as it sounds, we actually met at a bar." He'd just graduated from medical school, and she'd been for a night out with her friends. Neither of them had been severely drunk when they met, although by the end of it, Tanner doesn't remember much more. "It was just after I graduated from medical school. We've been together ever since. It really hasn't been that long, but when you find 'the one,' you know."

He'd thought he'd found 'the one' years ago, but it seemed she didn't feel the same.

As for a date, they already had it down to the hour. Callie was organized like that. "We're planning the first three weeks in February. It will still be cold here, but perfect weather there. And it should be less crowded." Tanner couldn't deny the relationship with his fiance was very smooth-working. They were both organized and efficient, although Tanner had a bit of a more reckless streak than his future wife.

"Now tell me about you... What have you been up to these days?"

It had been Mia, back then, who had shaken things up regarding their friendship. She couldn't remember exactly when she began to crush on him, but the summer after their senior year and with their separation for college impending, her view of him changed. Anytime girls would flirt with him at parties or when they were out, she'd get angry and jealous. But she didnt even say anything until the end of summer. Well she didn't exactly say anything - she had kissed him, a day before she left for college. It was spontaneous and Mia knew she had caught him off guard - but Tanner hadn't pulled away. After that, they were going to try and see each other when they could, with school and try the new dynamic between them. But then her dad was gone.

Mia and her dad had been super super close. He had always believed in her photography, even when her mom didn't have faith. Her father was the first person she would go to when she needed advice. Tanner was her best friend, but so was her dad. And losing him was the worst. And Mia had gone into a dark place, losing her other best friend due to her grief. Of course she'd always regretted it, letting him go, but Mia was too wimpy to reach out to Tanner again when she got better. Maybe if she had, it would be the two of them heading out to Hawaii instead.

But that was all years ago, and in the past, and Mia's feelings were no longer there. At least that was what she was going to tell herself, as she sat there watching him flip through her book while she sat on the arm of the chair he was in. Instinctively, she almost reached out to run a hand through his hair but, she forced herself not to move. There was a quick expression that crossed Tanners face as he first mentioned this Callie, but Mia couldn't place the emotion.

[b]"Wait, am I only coming for the wedding part, or the whole trip? And I am perfectly capable of arranging to pay for my part of the trip, you don't have to..."

she shook her head, forgetting that he was a doctor now and most likely had plenty funds - alongside his own parents funds. As she tried to calculate the costs of all this, he brought up her early photography life. "That dog was impossible!" she laughed. "Worst model ever,he wouldn't sit still unless I had a treat in hand," she smiled at the memory.

"My parents met at a bar too, so hey," Mia shrugged. And they were deeply in love too, even just before he died. Losing him had crushed both her and her mother so badly. "And hey, you know I don't believe in that "the one" stuff. No offense but, it just seems impossible with so many people in the world," Mia said, and then paused, eyes widening. "Not that I am saying you and your fiancé aren't ... you know what I mean," she got up and looked at the big calendar pad she had on her desk, flipping to February.

"Okay, cool. So far only a few gigs were planned, and nothing too big that my other photographers can't handle," Mia grabbed a pen and started writing a few things down, and then he asked about her. "Me? Oh well, as you can see this business has really taken off..." she paused, trying to think of things. "I've traveled a lot this year, mostly around Europe so that was honestly fascinating," she had so many pictures and wished she could sit and share them all with him but, perhaps another time. Mia stood up straight and glanced towards the window. "I've been trying online dating. No ones really stood out so far, they're all quite boring," Mia couldn't help but laugh. They weren't like Tanner - funny, and loud, unique. She'd never thought to make that comparison until that very moment with him there. She glanced back his way. "We should sit down sometime and really catch up," she suggested.

The timeline of their romance didn't seem to have a definite beginning (or an ending, for that matter). Tanner always knew he had feelings for Mia, but he'd kept them locked inside. He didn't want to ruin their friendship for his selfish ambitions, or end up breaking her heart. So he'd stored those emotions away, loving her deep within himself almost entirely through high school.

It had been that summer after senior year. They'd graduated and received the acceptance letters for completely different colleges, which were anticipating their arrivals in the fall. Perhaps they were feeling desperate; their many, many years together nearly every day was coming to an end. Tanner wasn't sure how would survive without her, nor whether he would be able to tell her the love he'd held for her. And then, she'd kissed him. It was like fireworks. Although Tanner had, admittedly, flirted and kissed other girls before, it had never been Mia.

They'd made an effort to try, after that. Tanner's heart began to swell at that possibility he once held onto. But then her father had died, Mia had closed herself off from everyone, and Tanner had gone to medical school.

Tanner's hand tightened on the book when she asked about the time-frame of the trip. "We were hoping you could photograph the whole trip." He paused, considering how many other events she could photograph for in that time. "Of course, if you can only do the wedding portion, we understand. We can look for someone else to do the bigger part." Tanner really, really didn't want to, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

He frowned when she suggested paying for her own trip. "Absolutely not. You have a business to run, and we have a wedding trip to fund. It's been worked into the budget already. We are paying." Tanner said the last sentence firmly, leaving no room left for Mia to argue. He knew how Mia could be sometimes (at least before she'd completely blocked him out of her life) and he also knew how to work around it.

The conversation turns toward Mia and Tanner immediately tunes in. She explains her traveling, her business, and her woes with online dating. Tanner chuckles. "I hear there are a lot of cheap, rotten guys on the online dating stuff. Please be careful." Although they might not be as a close as before, he still wanted her to be safe and happy. "I'm glad you've been able to travel. Europe is a beautiful continent." He'd been on a summer, week-long vacation there with Callie, and the experience had been memorable.

Tanner's mouth opened into a wide smile. "I'd love that, Mi. Let me know when you're available, and if I'm not in a surgery, we could go get coffee or something." Standing up, the surgeon glanced at his watch. "I should get going. I'm supposed to meet Callie at a bridal cake parlor soon." Tanner paused, unsure whether he should shake her hand, give her a hug, or simply walk out. "I'll get your email from the front desk and send you everything over, if that's okay."

    [hurray!!]

Mia didn't seem phased by the news that he wanted her to photograph the whole trip. She didn't reply right away, she looked over the calendar again instead. Mentally she was moving people around before nodding. [b]"No it's alright. I can work on my own for the majority of the trip, that way I have people here still running things. But I'll need my team for the few days around the wedding,"

she concluded, writing this all down, then scribbling on a sticky note, placing that on the edge of her computer monitor, reminding herself to contact her employees and customers about the change. In a way she felt like her helping him out would begin to make up for her disappearing on him. It was her way of apologizing, through her art, giving him the memories of one of the best parts of his life.

She let out a small huff as he insisted he pay for everything. He had always been like that, wanting to take care of others. It made sense why he was a doctor; Mia had always admired him for choosing a field like that. Her mom had been the one to tell her he'd become a surgeon, and Mia had been so close to giving him a call to congratulate him, but like every other time she chickened out. "Fine, Tanner. I suppose I shouldn't be stubborn with turning down a free trip to Hawaii," she pointed out with a smile in his direction.

A part of Mia felt a little touched he worried about her online dating, and she did laugh a bit. "I watch Catfish, I know how to do my research ahead of time," she explained, "And I always meet in a public place," Mia assured him further. "Im not looking for anything serious on there - it's just to pass the time and make me feel less lonely," her shoulders lifted in a shrug, and she ran a hand through her hair. "I want -" she paused, almost saying I want what we had."I want something real eventually but it's just hard these days," she blew out a sigh and then shook her head.

Tanner had begun to stand up, getting ready to leave. She beamed a bit as he agreed to meet up with her soon, and chat. "Okay yeah. Just call me. And no, don't go up there, here," she picked a business card out of a small box on her desk and moved around to hand it to him. "All my contact info is there," she dropped her hand when he took it and then she clasped her hands together in front of her before being bold, giving him a quick hug. "I'm glad you came by. It was really nice seeing you again," Ive missed you. She smiled shyly. "I've been trying to get in touch with you for so long but, I've just been scared. Thanks for thinking of me with the wedding and all," she tucked hair behind her ear. "I'll see you soon, and congratulations," she said, voice dropping a bit with her nervousness.

(i'm going to time-skip to them all leaving the airport for hawaii, if that's okay)

The sounds of airplanes taking off and landing rang through Tanner's ears as he got out of the limousine. He took his fiance's hand and helped her out of the low, long vehicle. The separate vehicle with their luggage followed behind, the chauffeurs methodically taking their cargo out and situating them on carts to be taken to the belly of the aircraft.

With all the preparation going into this vacation and wedding, Tanner couldn't believe it was finally happening. Callie seemed to be equally as excited and relieved about the entire trip. Although his wonderful bride-to-be had been a bridezilla during the planning portion of their trip, he was glad to see Callie had calmed down in light of everything actually happening.

They had picked up Mia in the limousine as well as the rest of the bridal party. Callie excitedly gossiped with her bridesmaids while Tanner enjoyed a conversation among his best friends. Despite their elaborate wedding and expensive vacation, their bridal party was relatively small. Callie had three bridesmaids and her maid of honor while Tanner had his three groomsmen and his man of honor.

Tanner's man of honor, Rusty, was talking about a skiing trip he had been on recently. The brain surgeon found himself laughing along with the guys of the group, although his attention was elsewhere. Occasionally his eyes would glance toward his fiance, hearing her laugh as the walked through the airport toward security check. Then his gaze would switch toward Mia, making sure she was comfortable and happy.

Some of the bridal party knew Mia from back in the schoolyard days. Tanner hoped they would engage in a conversation with her so she wouldn't feel so left out. The group passed through the security check and finally arrived at their gate. Tanner situated himself next to his bride to wait for the plane, but eventually rose and dropped down next to Mia.

"Is there anything I can get you?"

[nope that works I was going to suggest that!]

After Tanner had left her office that first day - she'd actually locked her office door, plopped down in her chair - and cried. She felt like a complete, immature and emotional baby but, she couldn't help it. All the guilt from not calling him, not seeing him, not keeping any sort of contact caught up to her and she was flooded with how much she had missed him. And Tanner had just stood there, smiling, happy to see her and treating her as if nothing had happened. So Mia sat and cried for a good amount of time before she pulled herself together - and began preparing.

Tanner did get in touch with her soon after regarding the wedding, and they had a quick lunch together one day for a chat, though it didn't last very long as he had to head back to well, being a doctor and Mia herself was cramming clients so that she could work this vacation into her schedule. It was hard, and stressful, but not at all impossible. She managed to figure everything out, especially with the help of Brenda, and before Mia knew it, she was packing for Hawaii.

A limo had come and picked her up, along with the entire wedding party. Mia had to admit, she would have preferred getting her own ride to the airport and meeting them all there, but she supposed it was easier sticking with the wedding party. And it wasn't all that awkward, Mia did know some of the girls, and some of the men as well. She joined in on some of the conversation, talking about the missed years. She watched Tanner every once in a while, usually every time he was looking over at Callie. She remembered him looking at her like that, once. She'd grown a little quiet after that thought, playing with the tassels on her bag, wishing she had her camera with her - but all that equipment had to be put in her suitcase.

As they got closer, and finally in the airport, Mia grew extremely nervous. She had always hated flying - even now after having traveled multiple times. It was horrifying, not being on the ground where it was stable and less things could go wrong. Mia had been fine in the car but now that she was there, she was getting anxious. The young woman tried to hide it as best she can as she sat at the gate with everyone, flipping through a magazine, foot tapping the floor. She jumped when Tanner's voice interrupted her thoughts, and she let out a nervous laugh. [b]"Something to knock me out for the plane ride?"

he knew of her fear of planes, heck he'd been there on her first flight when their families had gone to Disney World together when they were younger. Mia had been a panicking, crying mess. Of course she'd gotten much better now, but nevertheless it still gave her anxiety. "You excited?" she asked, flipping her magazine shut.
