[fancypost bgcolor=; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; width:400px; text-align:justify; color: solid grey; font-size:8pt; font-family: verdana; text-transform:lowercase;]The state that Persephone existed in was...unnatural. She was blind to her surroundings and yet she could "see" those around her, could feel them almost as if they were simply an extension of her body. The souls of those around her lit up a colorful map within her soul and it was by this map that she navigated by. On her good days, one could hardly tell that she didn't have any eyes if they had been observing the smooth, confident way in which she walked.
The soft light pouring through the open curtains warmed Persephone's fur, its gentle touch disturbing her sleep and telling her that morning had arrived. Ignoring the unwanted presence, she allowed herself to remain caught between reality and the Land of Nod, the world expanding around her as her senses ran free. She could feel the couple in the house down the street embrace each other, could taste the sharp clap of coffee on the female's lips. Down on the beach, she could sense the raw sadness of a child as his toy boat was swept out to sea, the vicious white-tipped waves easily capsizing the small vessel. She murmured soft words to the mournful spirit, prodded and toyed with the sadness. The boy turned away from the ocean. He was smiling.
Get up. She moved in one fluid motion, twisting out of the embrace of her blankets and easily dropped to the floor. Landing in a crouch, she barely heard the muffled thud of her paws making contact with the wooden floor through the silence ringing in her ears. Five steps to the right. Turn at the bedpost. Fifteen steps forward. The girl had walked this path many times before and had by now memorized it. Nonetheless, she repeated the mantra to herself until she was safely out of her room. Twenty feet to the left. Turn. Ten paces forward. Don't trip on the carpet. Doorknob is two feet above you.
The kitsune whisked out of her family's abode, the sun smattering kisses on her face as she stepped into the light. It was an unusual feeling, being outside for once, but she had a job to do. She took a step forward, her nine tails rising and falling as if caught in an unseen wind. "Meet and greet." The weak telepathic message radiated out from her as she took a seat on the warm ground.
