  • There were times when Russetheart found herself without too much to do that day, and she used the spare time as a good excuse to go wander through the territory. After all, it wasn't like anyone was stopping her, and she wasn't crossing any borders, so what harm could be done from a simple walk?

The she-cat seemed to zone out as she left the camp, taking in sounds and scents rather than anything she could see in front of her. Her sight was almost blurred as she focused on her other two senses for the time being. However, she wouldn't have bet on a kitten without the sense of sight following after her.

The post was edited 1 time, last by Russetheart ().

Panykit was just too curious. As the kit watched Russetheart leave, she fallowed, tortoiseshell paws making the tiniest steps ever.
    [hr]

  • The warrior thought she heard something, but just shrugged it off as a mouse. The footsteps were too small to present any real danger, and- ..actually...

Breathing in a the scent of mouse, which completely overshadowed the kit's own RiverClan scent, the she-cat lowered herself to the ground. She kept quiet, waiting.. waiting.. She suddenly bound towards the unsuspecting prey, her paws quickly pinning it to the ground.

Pansykit watched as she stopped, killed, and moved on. She shook her head, before fallowing on, maybe getting a bit too close, her scent becoming closer.
    [hr]

  • Having buried the newly killed rodent, she buried it, making a mental note to come back for it later. Resuming her walk, she suddenly picked up another scent. It wasn't her own, that much was evident, but it was of RiverClan. Who....?

Looking over, she suddenly turned around in shock. How did a kitten follow her so far out of camp? "Pansykit?! You're not supposed to be outside of camp!" she hissed, feeling terrible that she let the young cat trail after her so far from home.

Briefly looking around for any signs of danger, she sighed, her fur flattening back down to its usual sleekness. "You can't just follow me out like that. If you had gotten lost, you could have gotten yourself killed!"

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Pansykit looked up, eyes tearing up. The small kit couldn't defend herself, so she just let her eyes well up. Not even a screech came out, the trouble of being mute.
    [hr]

  • Oh boy.. Maybe she had been too harsh on the little kit. Her ears flattened against her head, guilt welling up in her gut.

"Oh, Pansykit.. You're not in trouble," she mewed softly, "But you need to understand that the world we live in is harsh and unforgiving. What would your clanmates have thought if anything had happened to you? What would Palemoon think?"

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
She nodded, Shaking her head to knock the tears away. She wanted to Respond so bad, but she couldn't! She couldn't say a word, and didn't know if Russetheart knew that, as she kept crying, thinking of what would happen if she had gone missing.
    [hr]

  • She had indeed noticed how oddly silent this kit had been, but didn't think too much of it. Nudging Pansykit in the direction of the camp, she began heading off that way as well, making sure to keep the kitten in her line of sight. "Come. Let's get back to camp before the others worry themselves to death."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Pansykit didn't want to go back to camp! Shaking her head, she bolted in the direction of the river, still silent as a mouse. She didn't want to get in trouble! She didn't want to!
    [hr]

  • "What-- Pansykit! Come back!" she yowled, quickly giving chase after the nervous feline. Russetheart was determined not to lose her this time!

    .....And she lost her.

Skidding to a halt, the warrior began to panic. "Pansykit?!" If something happened to the young cat, Russetheart knew she would blame herself for it. It would be no one else's fault but the cat who had lost one of RiverClan's young while trying to escort her back to camp.

    "Please come back!"

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
She couldn't hear Pansykit, but she could hear the rushing river. She meant to go for the large rock in the middle, but missed it and fell into the rushing water with a large 'SPLASH' which could be heard for a distance.
    [hr]

  • She had intended to bring the kitten back to camp unscathed, but it seemed life had a different path for the two. Hearing the loud splashing, she immediately assumed the worst, rushing over to the river as fast as her legs could take her. Dear StarClan, she hoped she wouldn't be too late!

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
Pansykit held her breath, but as she was running out of air, the current was moving her far and far away. She opened her mouth, but like always, no scream came out, so she shut it, ready for if she would plummet into the water again.
    [hr]

  • Spotting the kit, she quickly dove into the rushing water, ignoring the biting cold the best she could while swimming after Pansykit. It was times like this that she was thankful she grew up in RiverClan, legs kicking furiously as she tried her hardest to catch up to the young feline.

Finally, with the current pushing her along as well, she caught up to the kitten, quickly grabbing her by the scruff before hauling the kit as well as herself out of the water.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
As Pansykit hit the dry land, she was gasping for air, but the gasping was silent. She wanted to Tell Russetheart how sorry she was, but for now, she had to figure out what to do.
    [hr]

  • Coming to terms with all that just happened, she kept a good eye on Pansykit, wondering just what the young cat was thinking. "What in StarClan has gotten into you? You bolted off like a frightened mouse! I was worried sick! You.. you could have drowned."

Calming down again, the warrior still seemed disappointed in the young kit, but she was far from angry. "Please, Pansykit. Let's.. let's just go back to camp. I don't want anything to happen to you."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
She just teared up again, She wanted to shout answers, wanted to tell her! But she just couldn't. Now cold and wet, the tortoiseshell began to slowly wobble to camp. Shame she was a fragile soul. Shame.
    [hr]

  • Russetheart followed after the now soaked kitten, making sure she didn't get into any more trouble before they made it back to camp. How was she going to explain this to the others?

  • [fancypost bgcolor=;border:0px;width:425px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
She turned back, with a look that said 'I'm sorry' as she padded along, shivering.
