  • The reddish she-cat blinked open her amber eyes to a new day, breathing in the crisp cold air of leaf-fall as she forced herself awake. While she would like nothing better than to curl back up around herself, capturing whatever warmth might be left with leafbare just around the corner, she had things to do. Padding out of the den and stretching out to bring back life into her stiffened muscles and joints, she took a look around, her gaze landing on one of her clanmates. The warrior couldn't really recall ever spending much time with the apprentice. Come to think of it, she couldn't remember their name. How embarrassing.

Bounding over to the youth, she meowed a greeting to him. "Good morning."

[fancypost borderwidth=0;height:350px;width:540px;color:white;font-size:8pt;overflow:auto;text-align:left;margin-right:-35px;]"morning, russetheart!" the apprentice purred. she herself had woken up several minutes ago, and was fresh and eager to start the day. she wasn't about to waste it sitting around camp. "can you take me with you if you're leaving camp? i looked for ripplestorm, but i think she left with a patrol. i don't want to be stuck in camp all day."

  • Russetheart was surprised by the apprentice's excited nature. But then again, she was still young, and still had a lot to learn about the world. She was sure Rowanpaw would calm down in a few moons or so.

"I was about to go out for a quick hunt, but I wouldn't mind if someone came along. Just try not to scare the fish away," she purred, only teasing. There wasn't a dire need for prey, as far as she could tell, but she liked to hunt by the river regardless. It was an act she had almost perfected in her time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

  • Well, someone was certainly in a hurry to leave camp. Russetheart was a bit dazzled at the speed in which the apprentice had left the area, but she quickly snapped out of it and followed after her.

Catching up to the younger cat, she purred in amusement. "Seems like someone couldn't wait to leave," she mewed, leading Rowanpaw the rest of the way to the river.

  • (it's all good yo)

"Things will turn around soon enough," she replied calmly. "Even if things seem bad now, they could be much worse. The river hasn't frozen over, so there are still plenty of hunting opportunities. There are many kits right now, which means there will be more strong warriors for RiverClan in the future. Who knows, some of them might become deputy or leader some day."

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=0;border:6px #80dfff double;height:230px;width:200px;border-radius:5000pt 5000pt 5000pt 5000pt;background:url( http://www.billtrack50.com/blo…om:-57px;margin-left:-6px;][/fancypost][fancypost borderwidth=0;font-family:felix titling;color:#80dfff;font-size:40pt;margin-top:-0px;margin-left:-170px;]rowan [i]![/fancypost]

[fancypost borderwidth=0;height:350px;width:540px;color:white;font-size:8pt;overflow:auto;text-align:left;margin-right:-35px;]"i suppose you're right." the she-cat finished smoothing her fur and began padding in the direction of the river, at a normal pace this time. "and the kits are cute. but they're not going to be leader. i am!"[/fancypost][/fancypost][/fancypost][color=white][size=6pt]crafted with love by wingless - be wary of the hidden scrollies

  • At the apprentice's declaration, she was taken aback, but quickly shrugged it off and purred in amusement. "Really? Well, you're braver than I am. I don't think I could handle being leader." she asked, arriving at the river and looking down at her reflection in the water. "Everyone looking up to you in hopes that you know what's best for them at any given moment, and it's guaranteed there will be someone to disagree with you. It takes a certain kind of cat to be leader, and.." she sighed, "and it will never be me."
