They were both so very alike- the same person, yet at the same time- not. It was a mix of paradoxes that they enjoyed breaking together. They knew each other so well and enjoyed each other's presence. Each other's ever constant presence. Being apart was out of the statement, not because of some hidden rule, it did not pain them to part. It was never discussed, never thought aloud to each other and never spoken from either lips nor maw.

They were the same person, yet at the same time- not. They each held a different part of the being that they used to be. Two halves of a whole. Never again would they become one, never again would they ever walk alone. It was a law that stood since before mankind had died off the earth, since the clans and civilizations today ever grew as prominent as they did.

"Are you there, dear wolf?" Within the darkness of the castle, the two sat across from each other. Each curled upon their sides. The glow from each mask was dimmed significantly, giving the illusion of their sleeping forms. Giving hints to the true features of each beast of death. Lamb's complete black eyes with white dots opened, looking aimlessly infront of them. Their tail twitched, slowly curling deeper upon themselves. Their voice only seemed to echo in the silence. Their even tone not so even- for once it rung within the walls with uncertainty.

"I am, little lamb." At long last, wolf's voice rumbled through the room, their voice like a far off thunder, quiet and still with hints to a dangerous undertone. Their voice was- as well off. Their 'fur' lay flat against their sides, their much larger form curled protectively around lamb.

But to lamb, their curl wasn't seen as protective. Far from it, in fact. A sudden chill crept up their spine and slowly, very carefully lamb to wolf rose from their position, two front limbs pushed out under them to keep balance as they surveyed the room. The dimply lit room was casted in deep shadow. Little light shown from the open window, coming mostly from the two beings within the room. Starlight eyes brightened, their glow more intense as they focused on the small details, the large, plush rug that was under their paws. and, of course: wolf.

Wolf was surprisingly soft to them, a pillow or piles and piles of spun out ribbon within a box. It gave way to their touch and they took slight comfort in knowing that only their touch. Wolf was fiercely protective over them. Both kindred and lamb. But within this moment, the confines of cotton spool of ribbon was caught around them, they found themselves tangled into it. Calmly as they could, they removed themselves from the lumbering wooden canid.

Lamb moved to the window, looking out it.

the small creature was making his way through the dark halls, his midnight eyes looking for an empty room. as he passed a doorway, he was drawn to the glow from inside. he was unsure what would be causing such a light, as he was fairly sure that it wasn't fire. as he made his way inside, he quickly realized that kindred was already occupying the space. he supposed it was too late for him to flee at this point, so he began gathering words in his head. "ah- sorry to bother you- two," he wasn't sure what to refer to the duo as. [color=#EBBF9A]"i was just wondering what the glowing was. but i see, now, it's your masks, so i'll leave, if-" he was intimidated by kindred, but more of wolf than lamb. so he directed his words towards the friendlier of the two. he'd planned out what he wanted to say, so that this exact thing didn't happen, but he'd begun to wonder midway through why lamb was not wrapped around wolf as they usually were. he'd only met them a few times, though, he was sure it was nothing. nonetheless the rouge thought had muddled his thoughts and the stuttering meerkat stood in the doorway of the room awaiting a response.
