Adelaide had to forget his past, there was nothing to add and nothing to loose. Only two months ago his mother had died due to disease. It wasn't unexpected, she smoked constantly and barely ever ate, in fact death had definitely taken it's time. He remembered his mother through rose-tinted glasses though and therefore mourned her death. Despite her beating, despite her constant belief he was a demon born only to torture her. Well, he looked like his father, and that wasn't his fault, but he could reason why she would hate him. After all his father had been incredibly awful.
Through his rosy memories he remembered his mother's shining moments. The days she gave him three meals instead of one, or on his birthday she wouldn't make him eat her feces, nice things like that is what he decided were worth remembering. Those memories were what made his mother good in his opinion, those small gifts in the middle of war. If only he knew she would make his life living hell even after death. Her last gift to him was the gift of Dissociative Identity Disorder, something that led to most with the disorder to drugs and suicide. It was fitting.
While his mother would always be on his mind for now Adelaide tried to focus on finding a new home. He was weak and untrained in battle, he had nevr been taught how to hunt. During those months his only sustenance was rotting leaves or his mother's scraps, and many times something far worse. And so he couldn't trust himself to be alone. Which was smart, especially since he was naturally a social creature. On his adventure to find a new home some loner who had thrown him some scraps mentioned something about Colouredclan. He didn't know what that meant but the way the loner described it made Colouredclan sound wonderful.
The loner had drowned in a river and was then gutted by birds that week, not that Adelaide knew that.
The cougar moved forward until he came along the intense smell of urine. He knew that this meant he was at the Colouredclan borders. At least that's what the loner said, but Adelaide liked to believe he could trust people. So quietly he sat down just outside the stench and waited quietly. He wondered if this would be his new home or if the loner had gone crazy, he also wondered what his other personalities (or whatever they were) acted like, but he ended up dozing off halfway through his little thoughts.
Adelaide rested peacefully wrapped up in a protective ball. He looked peaceful. It was probably the most relaxed he had been since he could remember, which was amazing.
